Beat Horizon. Maxed out level, found all the cauldrons, found all the collectibles, got Blazing Sun in all the Hunting Grounds.
Overall, it's a very fun game. It has one of the best written lead characters I've seen in a while with a really nice, tight story about working for the future and not letting ignorance get in the way of progress. While Alloy herself was very three dimensional, a lot of the antagonist characters I found to be very cartoonish. Helis almost worked but he was not given enough time and focus and his final fight was pretty lame and anticlimactic (honestly the same can be said for the final fight, killing armies of machines with my Oseram gun was fun, the final battle was just a slightly tougher deathbringer with some machines thrown here and there. I beat it spamming fire bombs and hardpoint arrows and toughed it threw attacks with health potions and my shieldweaver armor. I wanted to fight a Metal Devil dammit, I guess that's for the sequel.) Nothing compares to the bane that was Faro who was easily the worst thing in this game. Like the dumbest motherfucker who not only doomed the planet because he couldn't have the foresight to consider that maybe creating self replicating organic consuming machines might not be a good idea, he completely wiped out all of human knowledge because I guess he thought they'd just be better off rubbing two sticks together instead of knowing what a lighter is. I loved the shit out of Sylens though and his repartee with Aloy!
Gameplay wise, like I said it was very fun, a very addictive mechanic that does a good job of testing your creativity and strategizing You can tell that the game was made by people not quite experienced with giant open world rpgs though. There were some goofy glitches and bad quality of life decisions. Making items stack in 50s was especially annoying since essential items started taking slots for goodies you could sell for shards. Also not being able to have all weapons and outfits even if you max out the carrying capacity. I don't know why they make you buy a perma fast travel pack and not give it to you from the start, I guess to force you to explore at the start? Also the loading times when you fast travel were absurdly long, when you fast traveled within the same area, it was pretty quick, but when you jumped more than 500 miles, the loading time was minutes long, like postlaunch Bloodborne long except Bloodborne patched that first thing. There were a lot of small quibbles I had like that here and there, I'm hoping Guerilla Games will refine things like that in later games.
Overall it's not my favorite openworld RPG (that title will probably belong to Witcher 3 forever) but it is one of the best written and has some of the best mechanics, it just needs a bit more refinement and a climax with a little more punch, some more special boss set pieces that are unique to a level though I guess part of the charm is that every enemy is categorized? It does feel that they kinda ran out of money near the end though but the success of this game and a finished gameplay groundwork will hopefully lead to a more satisfying sequel. If there's a game you can compare this with, it's Mass Effect. Extremely solid gameplay and story telling, still a bit unrefined and still kinda whiffs it at the end but a solid foundation for one and a half more great games! So ehre's hoping Horizon follows suit!
