i thought that caesar was just a look-a-like actually
At least Gangster Gastino is (a little) more imaginative than Mr. Store.

Some things here are strange… like Caesar being left by Big Mom trusting a new addition Capone so much. I dont buy it...She probably will get a wind if not already of this...
Bege didn't join last week. He's proven that he's at least willing to act loyal enough that Big Mom trusts him a fair amount.
I mean, she did trust Caesar to act on his own before finally having Bege capture him. She's not the kind of person who has eyes everywhere and an advanced intelligence system.

I'd think a man who is key to her getting a hold of gigantic army would be kept with closer tabs. This smells a little like plot convenience to me. Well, not sure what would make it a convenience and for whom, but we'll see. GG isn't there for no reason.
I'm not sure if last sentence is sarcasm or not. :ninja:
Damn! that last panel is Awesome! Luffy is looking like the badass Pirate he is.
I want Jinbe to wear a suit too.
Luffy is just the best "sorry I thought you were someone else" and "let me punch you" haha tooth thing was predictable, yet hilarious to see. Nami and Carrot bath scene jheeez. Cover page was badass. Gangster Gastino looool he looked so badass. The scene where they all sit around a table is picturesque and will become iconic they all look so good. I wonder if Loki was heartbroken by Lola running away.
Why does they need a Ship's Doctor if Aladdin is already a medic?
Generally medics don't have nearly the same level of expertise as a doctor.
You can wait for the Viz Shonen Jump, they should have almost no text and Sanji might be clean enough for an avatar or something ;)
Thaks but sadly Id o nto have an VIZ account :ninja:

i mean, once you accept he was given authority other the security of the ta party, him being given the job to keep caesar's heart is not that farfetch'
and we don't know if it's naive for big mom to trust bege or not beause we don't know for how much he has been serving her and what he has done for her..i mean at one point someone has to be accepted fully in her crew, especially since it's mostly based on enlarging it through marriage, so bege was not the first and definitely not the last guy they acquired that way.@RickM.:

he already is,just a different style :P
When Caesar was introduced in the punk hazard, who could have guessed that he would still play an important role in the series like 5 years later lol
Probably no one lol. We all thought he was just an arc villain before it was revealed he worked for Doflamingo. Around the time the Swirlhats leave Dressrosa though, I kinda knew we were in for a long ride with him .

I didn't notice at first, but Bege actually says "sure I don't mind" or something along those lines. One would think Bege would be way to proudful to allow Luffy put his hands on him.

Did Bege actually give him the go ahead? How did I miss that, welp time for a re-read, thanks because a line like that from him deserves respect considering how he's portrayed to be scummy.
Really marvelous chapter but above all i am hyped by the elbaf information.
I 'm not a norse mythology expert but isn't Loki portrayed as an evil and nasty god/giant that oranizes evil plans against his fellow gods/family?
If so maybe Oda will portray this Loki prince in a similar way to the one in norse mythology and maybe we have an early exposition of the elbaf antagonist.
He maybe even was abusive to Lola.Furthermore he may lead this new generation of giant pirates we heard back in Dressrosa and wants to rebel against his father, the king of Elbaf like what happened in Fishman Island, only now we will have an evil son as a rebel for extra drama.
Just food for thoughts.
If by chance this is true and Loki proves the antagonist of Elbaf, then i will lose my shit if down the road we will see a chapter titled Luffy vs Loki!

It's a really small, subdued speech bubble in the midst of a spreadpanel where everyone is shouting and stuff. It's hard to catch unless you look for it for a little while :P.

It's lost in the kerfuffle of everyone else getting upset.

Jaiminisbox had him say "just let him try" in one of the left most speech bubbles.

Laughing off Luffy's punch and taking it coolly could be considered more prideful.
Maybe he's small for a giant. I mean god I hope he is. Otherwise…
Neptune & Otohime didn't seem to have any problem.
Seriously, just don't think about the "how to" between different races. It just works.:ninja:

This post made me wonder if Big Mom used Chiffon the way the Vinsmoke are using Sanji. Marrying off a perceived "worthless" to someone she knows is liable to betray, getting her a useful soldier and a new grandchild before the Sudden But Inevitable Betrayal.
Great chapters!!…all suit up and plot revealed...
-poor caesar...but still heartless lol...so he not willingly join bege..fire tank really need a logia fire power
-so the giants been cheated twice and big mom did have a conflict with them...then luffy might be doing a favor for giant prince elbaf by taking down bigmom
-cant wait the war or bm break down lol

Loki is an antagonist, but he helps the gods in a lot of Sagas and isn't portrayed in a negative light, even when he does something horrifying. He even do some things that are downright heroic occasionally. The thing about the Norse Gods and most other pagan gods is that none of them are especially good guys. All of them are gloating, lustful maniacs. Oden is just like Loki a conniving trickster and a giant asshole, who do basically the exact same type of stuff.

That would also add to his credentials quite a bit. Most people have dropped their initial dismissal of him as a weakling, but instead people now think he's good at what he does, but not really a badass.
3h 20min. How many chapters before the tea party starts?
3h 20min. How many chapters before the tea party starts?
i say like 1-2 chapters and then the party begins
That was a pretty fun chapter, Gastino being the highlight. I liked Chiffon's exposition and Jinbe's attitude, he's got a lot to offer to the crew. Pedro looks rockin' in a suit, as does Brook.

I say just one. Last chapter said the wedding was five hours away. This one says it's around three hours and a half. The ending scene of Bege declaring that he has a plan already made makes me suspect that we'll see a timeskip of some sort to the Straw Hats leaving Bege's base or even Sanji already being back in time for wedding preparations. Oda's the type to leave us on cliffhangers and execute plans without talking about what they will entail beforehand so that they can maintain suspense. Examples being how the Straw Hats and Vivi used Carue's duck squad to make disguises and go into Alubarna through different exists to make Baroque Works split up, and Jimbei's plan at Fishman Island having its explanation shown only after it begins with Luffy blowing his cover of hiding within Megalo to kick Hody.
Plus, if the wedding finally commences at the end of next chapter, then it's a perfect way to end Volume 85 (if the next chapter is included, it would be eleven chapters long).
So Luffy doesn't know Brook fought Big Mom? Seems like intel you want to share.
Caesar trying to hide his identity was hilarious.
Great chapter… I loved how Jinbe quickly resolved the issue there at the end.

I disagree, the guy hasnt been around long enough to be given the security over the most important event for Big Mom and not just that EXCLUSIVELY…

I agree completely on this…and come on, no one is checking on him besides Capone, Candy minister suddenly just let it go... and no one will notice him missing.
Sounds strange as hell for me.
Nice chapter, can't wait for more! :)
This wedding will be a blast.
damn what a nice chapter.
last week i really thought "come on guys, its obvoiusly not cesar, how can you honestly believe its him"
which makes this chapter all the better.
the tooth, the suits, luffys reaction to cesar, "..no I'm gangster gastino" "sure let him punch me"
couldnt ask for more
i too think that there will be no explanation of the plan but a time skip to in best case the start of wedding or the arrival of notorious underworld emperors.
only thing i wonder now is the pekoms thing. why was it shown?
i sure it isnt a foreshadowing to him spoiling the plan, because i can already see the moment where the priest is like "may he speak now or forever hold your peace" and then the wingdoor opens up and a wounded pekoms yells "its a traaap!"
If the plan is going to fail, oda may as well reveal it entirely next chapter. If it is going to succeed, then oda will probably skip ahead to the tea party in order to keep surprises.
I'm hoping it all fails and i'd rather there isn't a timeskip and see all the stuff leading up to the ceremony before it begins.
Also flashbacks to the plan would continuously interfere with the tea party war and slow it down where it matters.
Great chapter. And just to clarify, the punch already happened, right? Seemed a little bit lackluster, but Luffy gave him a gear second punch towards to upper chest, eh?
Well, the only thing I don't like about this chapter - or better said the last ten or so chapters - is how Big Mom turned from a more complex villain into the kind of more evil for evil's sake villain.

i think thats just him grabbing capone and cesar up in smoke
So who's the shittier parent, Judge or Charlotte?
I think the plan will work, but Big Mom will survive anyways
What a awesome spread.
Is it only me or carrot appearing in line with Luffy, Nami, Brook and Chopper on the manga cover is almost too perfect to not comment on. It is my belief that she blends deliciously with the crew, so Having her free furry spirit around as a new crewmember would surely fill my day with joy!. Garchu to all!!!!

??? She's not on the cover.
What a chapter. Luffy-Caesar banter had me in stitches.
Also, there are actually people offended by Luffy and Brook healing by drinking milk? Really? That shit was probably the most Oda-esque thing Oda has done in recent memory; it had classic One Piece written all over it.
Luffy is berating Brook for being too relaxed? What is this, a parallel universe?
Anyways, those outfits are so good! I'm happy Chiffon turned out to be a loving and sympathetic person instead of a nagging wife like she was made out to be. And Praline returns! Also I love how Bege interacts with Luffy, not even a face vault or a sweatdrop, he just continues being himself. For a guy that belonged to the more "forgettable" Supernovas he's shaping up to be quite fun. And Jinbei being the strategist makes more and more sense with every chapter.
This arc just gets better and better.

You mean her abuse of of Chiffon? She is doing doing because Chiffon was unlucky enough to have the same face of the one that caused her biggest lost. Thanks to Lola betrayal she lost one of the strongest army out there and also the chance to ever make tottland the paradise of all races like she wanted. Her hate for Lola's action was pretty clear early on.
capone was the closer tabs.

No, a higher ranked child would be the closer tabs. Capone is an outsider, with a history of killing leaders for sport. Since Jinbe knows all about it, seems like it's not some obscure information. Big Mom knows. And also he's married to a daughter Big Mom beat almost to death at one time. If that's not a recipe for treason, I'm not sure what is.
For that reason, I don't accept he was given authority of the tea party to begin with. Unless BM wanted to test his loyalty or Oda has started doing meth. It's not like nobody ever betrayed her before, her own child included. But she has a soft spot for Bege for some reason?
Besides, there's that line Pekoms said, not to underestimate Big Mom. We all know she won't be easy pickings, but I like to believe she's ready for whatever attempt Bege might try on her life. Ready as in expecting it might happen and reacting, instead of being hit and still surviving, like Whitebeard with Squad's katana.

Oh, btw, forgot to comment how awesome the color spread is.
!
I wear #11 in rugby, so go Zoro!
Anyone tried figuring out if there are correlations between characters and jersey numbers? Or is there a secret message, a thanks of some sorts? Because Franky's 39 can be read as san kyuu - thank you? Not sure which jersey number would be next.

The numbers are their birthdays. Franky is 3/9 (today!), Luffy is 5/5, Nami is 7/3, Sanji is 3/2, Brook is 4/2. Chopper is 24 since his birthday is 12/24, while Zoro's is doubly nice since his birthday is 11/11.
Cool cover.
So the mariage was with giants. I guess it kinds of makes sense if they are really the strongest country out there. The prince really have some nice influence if it caused such problem with the giant community. I like that she tried to use Chiffon.
Chiffon really have all the reason to hate Big Mom. I wonder if Capone chose her for that or if he was just lucky.
I almost feel bad for Pekoms getting played by his saviors. He was ok with helping get Sanji back not killing Big Mom.
Random fanservice in important backstory. I almost forgot that was a thing.
I find Luffy to be a little OOC getting so worried on keeping on track but that milk gag was just hilarious and priceless. Plus it helped him recognize Ceasar.
That mafia swagger on everyone is dope. Luffy casually mentionning punching Capone was already good but him not caring about it was even better.
Gangsta Gastino was the real MVP.

Nice, never took an effort in remembering their birthdays. Remembered Zoro's because it's closest to mine and I love #11.
So here's Franky in birthday suit!
!
Side note, don't ever type in "franky one piece naked". Not sure what the hell I was thinking… -_-;
I just realized that Chiffon being confirmed as Lola's twin means I now have two characters sharing my birthday :3

nami's one (73) is just her name i think , luffy's 55 might come from gomu gomu, brooks' 43 is definitely something that has to do with him ince also in optc his special deals 4343 hp of damage, sanji's one starts with san so i assumie there's a way to write 2 as ji? japanese have a lot of ways to pronounce numbers.
zoro's 11..no diea..maybe because he ants to become number 1?or those are 2 swords?
no idea for the others

A lot of their birthdays are puns on their names just as you said. Gomu-Gomu does give us 5-5, which is also the Japanese holiday Children's Day, for example.
I am confused how to feel about the scene with Pekoms and the Sun Pirates. We have Pekoms being fooled into believing BM is gonna be warned against Bege and those guys fooling him into thinking that and preventing him from going to her aid so they can actually help Bege to kill her.
Even though BM is the big villain of this arc, it's hard to not see Jinbe and the Sun Pirates as the bad guys here compared to Pekoms.
I'm also curious about Praline. Thankfully we managed to find out what is going on with Chiffón, but why would Praline also help to take her mother down? The non-married kids are so loyal to BM, so it's not like her kids hate her as a rule, but for some reason all the wives seem to want her dead.
Great chapter anyways. The "Gangster" Gastino with CAESAR CLOWN written behind it cracked me up. Too bad Luffy tooth grew back, I think he looked really cool like that (guess I could say the same about Brook's crack), but I like the way it played out… almost as if Oda was mocking me for expecting Luffy to stay like that.

Being forced into a political marriage would naturally give rise to resentment and ultimately rebellion I think.
