So, I've had time to actually think about things and truly being to mull it over and really consider a few things about the system and what I'm gonna do here. Here are my thoughts"
Short answer: I'm definitely getting it at launch. No question.
Long Answer: The system has some neat aspects. I like the idea that it's basically a home console you can take on the go with you. Even if it's not AS powerful as the PS4 or XBone, if it's powerful enough and easy enough to develop for that 3rd parties can port AAA titles to it easily, even if that means somewhat of a drop in graphical fidelity, I think this thing can be really enticing to people. Being able to take AAA home console level titles on the go with you is definitely neat. The idea I can be playing Breath of The Wild at my break at work is just mouthwatering.
A few of the other things are neat too, I like the control options, I like the new "HD Rumble" thing it's got going. That can be awesome if they manage to do it right. EVERYONE tries to do more immersive stuff with rumble. I've played a ton of games on every console where it's like "A car rumbles the controller if you rev the engine" or "The kick of a gun you're shooting rumbles the controller" so being able to deliver that kind of stuff in a more precise and immersive way seems exciting.
All that being said tho, A console will live and die based on its software.
Despite all the hate it gets, The Wii U comfortably sits right now as the "Current Gen" Console (Not counting Steam) I own the most games for… The number is at like 20.
The system had a ton of great 1st party games and some fun 3rd party ones. Splatoon and Yoshi's Wooly World are excellent, Super Mario Maker was stellar, as is Pikmin 3, DKC: Tropical Freeze, and Xenoblade Chronicles X... and of COURSE, Sm4sh.
The Switch already has several games I'm interested and looking forward to... ESPECIALLY Breath of the Wild. Knowing the switch version will look better and run better, even if just marginally, makes me want it at launch for that alone.
For launch there's also Super Bomberman R... I loves me some Classic Bomberman and that's the return to form I've been yearning for. Arms, looks fun, didn't know they'd have something neat like that. Spla2n and Mario Oddysey both look amazing and I absolutely can't wait for them. Plus, there are some Multiplat games I've been kinda interested in. I Am Setsuna has gameplay I've seen compared to Chrono Trigger, so that's got my interest. Plus, I'd LOVE to own Yooka-Laylee on a Ninty console considering the Banjo Kazooie heritage. Project Sonic 2017 and Sonic Mania would be great to own on this one too.
Also, one thing I didn't think was going to interest me was the "Deluxe" versions of Wii U games.... I mean, I own most of the ones that are rumored, so aside from Sm4sh, I didn't think they could add anything to really entice me... But Mario Kart 8 Deluxe looks like it entirely fixed the Battle Mode.... Nintendo's apparent plans to make Upgrading at a discount possible might make me buy it...
So that makes 10 games right out of the gate that have me interested, and that's not even counting any more that might be announced later, especially this year at E3.
So overall I'm pretty optimistic about the Switch! I honestly cant wait!....
I'm also going to probably drop off the face of the earth for like a week....
Zeeeeeelddaaaaaaaaa....
@Wagomu:
I think losing the browser's actually a big loss. I never use it on the consoles, personally, but this thing is a portable tablet as well, so not letting it access the web greatly limits its utility, since they're going to want people to carry this thing around with them wherever they go.
That's a good point, but it's not gonna have native network connectivity so tbh. I doubt we're gonna get a 3G or 4G version of the thing, so this severely limits what you can do with it in this regard.
