So by the way, I just went and installed Discord on my PC since it seems like that's what you guys prefer to use to sort out trades and such here. Nickname Lord_Starfish. Also since the last time I brought up my supply of things, I've managed to get some more potentially cool stuff, so at the moment here's what I can trade with people:
-Timid Cutiefly with Sweet Veil and at least four perfect IVs
-Adamant Litten with five perfect IVs
-Modest Popplio with five perfect IVs
-Rattled Magikarp… Well I only have one of those at the moment but I'm gonna start breeding for more right now.

Did some Battle Tree regular Doubles for the first time… got wiped a few times feeling a little frustrated at Confusion hax and 50% accuracy moves hitting without aims.
Changed my "strategy" and realized the AI seems to aim at my UB's and Legends more than the real threats in my team. Now I'm kinda steamrolling it on a stroke of getting bad plays bu things the refuse to kill Speed Swapped Drampa.. On one hand I don't enjoy it, and on the other I'd rather have this than deal with parafusion.

So I've been breeding for a competitively viable Moxie Gyarados, and somehow I've managed to get two Magikarps with perfect IVs across the board, one male and one female… but neither with the right ability. Sheesh, at this rate I'll probably end up with a shiny before I hit the strictly speaking not all that low odds of getting one with perfect everything but Sp.Atk and the Rattled ability... And with my luck so far even if I do get one of those, it'll probably be male when I would prefer a female.
EDIT: And like three eggs later I got exactly what I was looking for. Rattled, perfect IVs in everything but Sp.Atk, Adamant, female. Korra the Gyarados returns! This time in a way cooler Ball. And now I'm left with a ton of 5IV Magikarps with Rattled, so if anyone wants one…

Congrats. And I'd be happy to take one in like… 10 hours, if you still have it. Dunno what you want. Currently I'm working on a shiny Mimikyu that's taking a while so I have entire boxes full of 4+ IV Jolly ones.

Never underestimate the power of complaining online when it comes to breeding. Works every time.

The GTS has stopped being profitable for me as of today. :(

Aaaaaand seventh trial is done.
! I have mixed feelings on Mina. I am a fan of anti-climaxes since I think they can be funny, but one has to weigh humor against the final stretch of a journey. In the same span where we pass her and get the Fairium Z, Lillie has resolved to be more like a trainer and move onward on her strength, since Lusamine is still missing. Definitely feels like tonal dissonance.
! Maaaybe if we didn't know she was the captain, and her laid-back demeanor translated into the trainer having to explore the maze-like Poni Canyon, and at the end she can be like "yay, you did it, time for a battle :))" then that would be cool. On the subject of fighting the kahuna before the last captain, I'm okay with it, due to Hapu's unique circumstance and it being more of a playful subversion.
! Now the final totem…..wooof. Kokomo-o (sp?) hits like a goddamn truck, and not only can it buff its attack to insane levels, its allies can speed buff like nobody's business. What was its typing, Steel/Dragon? If Salazzle didn't use Toxic, I think it would've wiped me.Team is:
Decidueye
Salazzle
Muk
Jolteon
Ninetales
Snorlax
Kangaskhan
Slowbro
Lycanroc
Mimikyuonly 4/10 Alolans, wew lad. XD

I'm at the fourth island.
! Lillie's haircut evolved!
-
I just caught a Ditto that is so close to having 6 perfect IVs. It really only has the guaranteed four from chaining and the other two are probably at around 28 but it looks real good on the IV checker.
I also saw a shiny Ditto struggle to death because it broke out of 7 Ultra Balls. So I bought lots of Repeat Balls and gave my Ditto bait more useless attacks to give me more time.

Tsk, learn the way of the Ditto hunter. Fight a Smeargle and let it sketch Recycle, then catch it. Lead with that against Ditto. Now you have a ditto that can only use Recycle.
Step 2, get a Dhelmise or whatever else learns Switcheroo, and put a Leppa berry on it. Send it out and swap the berry onto the Ditto.
Step 3, chain Dittos infinitely and it will never run out of PP or attack you.
-
Well I've hatched like 300 Mimikyus and still no shiny. Of the handful of shinies I've hatched, this is by far taking the longest. On the upshot I hatched a 6-IV male along the way, so yay for Amorphous breeding.

Ah thanks. I'm actually doing something like that. I use a Klefki with Recycle, a Hypno with Switcheroo and then various Synchro Abras/Kadabras for natures which makes it a little tricky sometimes. The Shiny Ditto transformed into a Kadabra that only had one move. I False Swiped it and a couple rounds later it killed itself.
It's working better now.

I still have like fifteen of the things, as it took so unreasonably long to get one with the right IVs that, even though I Wonder Traded away everything that had less than five perfect IVs, I was still left with a whole bunch of almost-perfect stuff. Also sure, I wouldn't mind a Jolly Mimikyu.

It took me 2000 SRs to get shiny Ho-Oh.
-
In what game? SRs should be nowhere as likely to yield a shiny as Masuda + Shiny charm.

Pokemon Omega Ruby.

Cool. Once again I won't be around for at least 10 hours or so but hopefully we can find a time to trade.

After sixty-five hours I've finally reached the Elite Four.
! I low-key enjoyed the meta-ness of Lusamine throwing shade at competitive players. Then Lillie's speech later about Nebby wanting to go on further adventures with me made me feel bad because in all likelihood Solgaleo is going to spend the rest of its existence in
the salt minesPoke Pelago.
! Despite the buff her whole team got for round two, Lusamine didn't give me much trouble this time around. After that wall of a Clefable went down (just watch Stars replace it with a Blissey) the only problem I had with her was her Bewear one-shotting my Starmie with Take Down and Lilligant being an annoyance with Teeter Dance. I was half-expecting Lusamine to sub herself in as her sixth Pokemon, and was a little disappointed when she didn't. Ultra Space was a cool-looking area with interesting music, so I really hope they expand it in Stars.
! Lusamine didn't give me much trouble, but Gladion really rocked my world not long after. I'm starting to dislike these levels jumps without giving you good grinding spots to catch up with. -
Is it me or is Tapu Bulu hard to catch compared to the other Tapus?
-

Tapu Bulu I caught pretty easily, but Tapu Fini gave me a lot of trouble (damned Aqua Ring)

There's always my method for catching Mewtwo in Firered:
Put on a good anime, buy 999 pokeballs and just throw them until your entire team dies. Then soft reset and repeat.

Fuck you final Zygarde Cell. My logic of "It's most likely the first island" payed off for the third and second to last were there. Some other day I supposedly checked for the "only day" ones, but either one of the marked as "both" isn't, or I forgot one z-core somewhere.
I'm not in the mood to sweep the islands again, but hey, at least I found dream eater in the desert by accident.
-
I wished I had the patience for the Zygarde, but.. eh. Don't really care for the guy, or how weirdly designed the quest is (like there is no way of knowing if you missed any in areas)
I ended up getting a 50% one on the GTS, and destroyed that for its cells to make the perfect one.
-
Sweet, got a shiny Politoad and some Island Scan Pokemon off the Wonder Trade.
-
I got my goddamn purple pants.
After talking to way too many people, finally lucked into a visitor that had a level 3 dye shop. And it was even purple! (now to find a level 5 one…)
Such a pain in the arse for a pair of pants thats by default in the Moon version. Ah well
Now I can truly be Gary Oak.
-
What is the perfect Zygarde? I had 50% of the cells and that gave me the one in X/Y. Is the dog 10%? (Imo Zygarde is probably the blandest legendary ever)
Anyway, I'm up to the final stretch:
! The quest reaches a rather fitting end with the journey into the Ultra Space to find Lusamine. With the sun and moon flutes….bam, Nebby evolves one more time into [insert box legendary]. I was kinda spoiled on this idea, but it was clear it was going to be important from the beginning. I like it, for once the legendary creature isn't some outside partner you have to clash with, it was around you the whole time.
! Inside you find the possessed Lusamine, who has a really intense scene with Lillie standing up for herself. Then demon jellyfish comes in and….cue final battle.
! It pretty tough (I was underleveled):
-Clefable emulated that damn Trumbeak and that damn Orcorio by ending into a near endless heal loop with Moonlight. Eventually Muk took it down, but Cosmic Power drew it out.
-Milotic was taken out pretty easily by Jolteon's Discharge.
-Lilligant was EXTREMELY annoying. Petal Dance hit surprisingly hard, one-shotting Ninetales, the weakened Muk, and more. And when she wasn't looping that, Stun Store slowed my mons down, and of course we have to add to the annoyance with Teeter Dance. Reminds me of my old Lilligant. Had to heal constantly to keep Mimikyu on top, since she was the only one left.
-Mismagius went down embarrasingly fast with one Shadow Claw, lol.
-Bewear fell into the same ghost problem it did with Decidueye last battle, only this time, it kept using Pain Split. Which was hiliarous, because the first time it used, Mimikyu's health was low and it crippled itself. Finally, and after an Ether, Play Rough ended it.
! Then we escape, and Lusamine gives an earnest comment to her daughter before passing out. Then we try to catch Solgaleo, which was quite tricky, but the music made it worth it. Lillie says her goodbye (:() to us and Nebby, and goddamn do I miss her already.
! I'm not ready for the Pokemon League yet, if I was five levels below Lusamine, then I'll surely get shrekt. I guess it's training and filling up more of the dex. Will I beat the game before 2017? -
Yes the dog is 10%, perfect is megazord Zygarde.
-
….not really worth the 100 core quest lol, but for completionist sake, I want to try.
-
Regarding Zygarde I dunno, personally I picked up around 85 of them just along the course of the game, but it took me way too long to realize there were day/night-specific cores. But with that in mind I knew I'd played the game 95% at night so I just picked off the day ones from a guide and then went through the first island ones as well (since they appear in early areas that I probably hadn't revisited thoroughly) and got all 100 pretty easily.

The RNG with facilities is annoying. I've been offered 3-star purple at least 3 or 4 times now by Sophocles, if not more, and I also have 3-star green but I've yet to see anything above 3 stars for dyeing facilities. I'm also STILL waiting for 4 or 5 star Rare Kitchens.
-
On that note, if you have valuable stores in your festival Plaza, put them as the first one in your line up that way when other people ask your character that's the facility they'll offer.
For example, I put a treasure hunt as my first spot which has enabled Foo to constantly request it from my character in his Plaza, ensuring access to bottle caps.
Valuable ones:
Fortune tellers can raise FC output
High level rare kitchen can help for faster level ups
Treasure Hunt lotteries give bottle caps -
Worth mentioning that the guaranteed bottlecaps only come from 2-star lotteries and above, and also 5-star dye shops have extra color options, so the star rating does matter.

Found the last cell, the day only on aether paradise..
BTW, the 100% Zygarde can't be dissasembled, so be prepared to say goodbye to doggarde, I had to reset and lose the final cell, but it just had shitty stats.
-
I'm about to strangle whoever thought the Zygarde quest was fine without any indication where you're missing a Core or cell. I don't care how many I have. And I only have 1 left to go.
Fuck this quest lmao.
-
I just used a guide for the Zygarde quest. Got what I could through the campaign, then looked up the rest. I don't think the quest would be half as bad if they just didn't make some only available at certain times of day. I feel like getting duped by that while doing it completely blind would suck.
-
I would've been fine if Dexio and Sina marked your map or something. Half the time I nearly miss the piece lol
-
Luckily, I don't care about Zygarde at all, and in fact only want his dog form… so I'm good! ANd the lousier stats even means I won't feel bad using it!
Progressed a little further into the island. Absols and new ice vulpixes in the same spot? Yaye!
Absol being my third all time favorite after Sandshrew and Emolga... shame its evolution is a mega and it has nothing new to motivate me to use it this time around beyond being an absol.

More Battle Spot thoughts.
After playing around with Doubles on Battle Spot some more, I realised how nasty Oranguru is. I'm kinda tempted to train up a Prankster user, though there might be some obvious counters to a Taunter.
Whimsicott seems like it would be an okay choice since I've barely seen the likes of Talonflames in this meta yet. I'm guessing that's mostly due to how prominent Electric typings are now, but not certain. Ninetails and snow warning seems like it could get a good unexpected use of Sunny Day too. Been seeing far too much of these things, though it's kinda nice seeing people use ice types.
Also since I didn't play too much of online in Gen 6, I didn't really know spread moves were nerfed in doubles until now. It kinda makes Rock Slide seem a little bit less viable on its own compared to what I was used to in Gen4-5… so, I might need to end up kicking Minior out of my team though I love him, because I don't think there would be much opportunity to set up a Shell Smash.
-
That's probably because Talonflame got considerably nerfed this gen. It may never be viable again after that, especially since they STILL haven't fixed stealth rock after all these years.
-
At this point, after like 10 years is impossible to think that they don't like what stealth rock does.
-
What made Talonflame so great in the previous gen? Don't get me wrong, I loved using it in Y, but apparently it was annoying as Pelipper+Drizzle is now?
-

Gale wings hidden ability, it was now nerfed to only work at maximum hp.

The unfortunate thing about Whimsicott is that the high presence of Fairies all over, particularly the Tapus, means that a lot of people will be running poison moves which could completely demolish Whimsicott. Not to mention the supposed nerf where dark types are immune to pranksters iirc? Means that Alola Muk is a huge problem.
-

Yeah it was a beast last gen, because of its ability, like Getsuga said.
Having Brave Bird as a priority move meant Talonflame could sweep the enemy team until it literally died from recoil or came up against a wall. The nerf means you only get that priority for one turn, max, basically.

Yeah…that's pretty bad for my wonderful little Klefki from last gen (prankster nerf). :(
At least he's immune to poison. -
Yeah, I see that(Didn't know about the Prankster nerf though… That's.. an inconvenience.). I don't even think Whimsicott is that good and I'm kinda wishing it was still a pure grass type so it could atleast only have 2x weaknesses(so the lack of STAB would allow it to take more hits). And... there isn't alot to the fairy subtype that actually helps it too, even offensively. So bleh... Still love Whimsicott.
I may end up just running Taunt on something unexpected even with the lack of priority, because Room Trickers/ Aurora Veil Ninetails users would obviously know why I got a Whimsicott(or any common Prankster) in my team.
-
Fairy helps it against darks in that if someone switches in a dark to block prankster they could instead receive a nice Moonblast to the face. But yea, poison tho, that's an issue.
Same problem another prankster, Sableye, would have against Ninetales. Sure you can taunt to prevent screens, but a good read by the enemy and Moonblast to the face.
Klefki actually does sound like a good Ninetales counter. Taunt to prevent screens and Ninetales will not appreciate flash cannon.

Lawl, that's a significant nerf. And now I see the problem - if you can't sweep with it, Rock Slide and the like will utterly crush it and its 4x weakness. And birds are (usually) never tanks.
-
I caught 25 SOS-chained Dittos and not one of them has more than 4 perfect IVs. I'm feeling unlucky. :(
