I dunno if he doesn't look at him, he does, it just hasn't registered yet. The flashback helps.
Attack on Titan: Why Genocide Is Sometimes Kind of Okay
-
-
To me, either Armin or Erwin will get the titan serum and one will die. If I'm remembering right, Erwin got hit by Monkey Titan and is bleeding out somewhere in the field and I really doubt they'll both die here. I'd say Armin is more likely to be brought back but since Levi has the serum I'm not sure
-
I don't think it's been pointed out yet but the spread of Eren swooping in on the Colossal Titan really nicely echoes a similar shot from the First Battle of Trost. Bonus points for that.
-
It echoes the volume 1 cover actually.
!
-
I hadn't really thought about it until now, but did they capture Bertholt alive?
-
Foreshadowing
!
! Apparently it says "Who should I eat next?" -
major spoilers don't open unless you'v read chapter 82
! the foreshadowing wasn't wrong. armin is dead!
but he went out like a man and his death allowed eren to grab out the shithead brethold, eren should've just killed him but i guess we need someone to give us information on the humans outside the wall so he has to live i guess.
reiner doesn't tho. he was stabbed in the heart when he got out of his titan and i don't think they're gonna let him stay in one piece after they saw him heal himself from a fucking blown out face!
great action packed chapter. -
@TLC:
That's slightly (still not that good) better than what we got because the eyes are wider and the mouth more narrow.
What we actually got is just so distracting, we should have gotten a punch to the gut but instead we got this really distracting expression all for the sake of "realism" (which I don't 100% buy, I just think the mangaka is not that good an artist). Just have Eren scrunch up his face and be done with it.
Sure we'll get the tears next chapter but THIS chapter was downgraded a lot because of poor facial expressions sapping a lot of emotion from what should have been the most heart-wrenching moment.
Eren's tears are dried up.just how many people do you think he's seen die in front of him?there's only so much grief you can show.after that is just emptiness.his eyes look empty to me
really can't understand how you can't get that from the scene -
Damn Armin, you the real MVP. Major "conclusions" in the fight, not without the casualties. Just what we've come to expect from AoT. Wonder where it'll go next week. Still got to see Levi's conclusion and what will happen there

Season 2 is coming in spring 2017!

Season 2 is coming in spring 2017!
Finally. Geeze. I can't believe it's been that long lol.
-
can't say im excited. the chapters it's gonna adapt are mostly from the boring human politics arc. hopefully their battle with the central police can fit there aswell, it was very badass.
-
Isn't the discovery of eren as the coordinate in there, too?

Sounds like you're forgetting the whole arc that comes before that with Christa, Ymir, Bert and Ernie
-
oh right, i forgot about the beast titan arc. it will probably take about 12-14 of the season's episodes. the revolution arc will take the rest since it boasts 20 chapters.
yeah it's not gonna be that bad when you think about it. -
I'm looking forward to it! A lot of what happened in the past year or more completely passed me by, so it'll be nice to see it all solidly put together in anime form. Just hoping they have another badass intro song!
-
Attack on Titan is one series (along with Haikyu) where I definitely prefer the anime adaptation for its superior art. I've been waiting for the Beast Titan arc for quite some time and I'm really hoping we get another incredibly badass opening song.
-
Wonder how many seasons the anime needs to catch up with current story in the manga.
Looking forward to S2 nonetheless.
Hopefully it erases the memory of its live action movies. -
Chapter 83 Korean Raw:
-
Chapter looks good so far. reads last few pages, flips every table he can find
-
Oh man. I can't read whats going on but I can figure it out just by looking. Those last few pages will be intense.
-
haven't watched the anime yet,so i'm gonna marathon the 2 seasons together.and goddamn mangastream still hasn't reached the chapter.i may as well read the raw or whatever other language scan is available(gonna try to wait some more)
-
Chapter is out, Ackerman vs Ackerman?http://kissmanga.com/Manga/Shingeki-no-Kyojin/Chapter-083?id=299975
-
im few pages into it… it doesn't seem like a very good translation.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
correction: it's a horrible translation. i can't bring myself to finish it when it has lines like this
! "armin just got breathed"
-
looks like the arc is coming to a close.i am not a fan of the edgy internal fight that's about to happen, but i think the conditions sort of validate what's happening.i doubt their conflict will last for very long.well, regardless of whoever gets saved, the basement can finally be reached
-
Crunchyroll seems to have blocked off the newest chapters, so I'm going off of the other translations. This one in particular.
! http://fuku-shuu.tumblr.com/post/147035990122/shingeki-no-kyojinattack-on-titan-chapter-83 Armin still being alive is the most iffy part of the chapter for me - it just feels awkward after the final-seeming sacrifice last chapter. I also wonder what the purpose of this whole situation is going to be. Why not kill Armin or Erwin right away? Intuition tells me there obviously will be a good reason. Other than that, completely fine chapter. The stuff with Zeke and Eren was interesting, Ymir's letter was an interesting detail. I'm okay with Reiner escaping. It's fine.
-
Damnit Reiner! Just die already! http://www.mangamint.com/attack-titan-83

Damnit Reiner! Just die already! http://www.mangamint.com/attack-titan-83
that's the same translation as the one posted above :( damn it man, when's MS gonna release theirs?
-
I prefer read the words on the baloons.
-
A significantly better translation is finally up on Mangastream: http://readms.com/r/attack_on_titan/083/3530/1
-
! Yeah no, still not feeling the supposed "grief" from Erin. I'll just chalk it up to bad art though I felt more from Mikasa's expressions of desperation. This whole conflict feels really forced, why is Armin still alive, why is Erwin still alive and how did he get carried there so quickly and why was he given no prior setup that he was on the way? The writing is pretty sloppy.
-
! Armin should get it, he's basically a young version of Erwin. Levi was super badass in this chapter, he laid waste to 6 more titans and was about to follow the weird titan had it not been for his gas running out. i do agree with TLC on the sloppy writing part, way too many coincidences are happening. Reiner getting out of this alive was the most infuriating thing, the weird titan just happen to be near him when Mikasa shot the flair. I thought that was a very cheap way to save him. All the other characters get killed, yet the transformers all have a very obnoxious plot armor, which really makes me hate them with passion. I'm having hard time believing Berthold may die actually, so who knows if he's gonna really kill him.
-
The soldier was there just a few chapters ago, it's obvious he had to have some purpose. It's like the most obvious thing. If that wasn't enough for people, I understand, sure, but it was obvious he at least might have some purpose. I see people whining about Reiner, Bertholdt and Erwin actually, but none of their moments had much finality in the end. Armin's does. I think he'll be the one to go after it is revealed what the real purpose/goal of this situation is. Something similar seemed to be the case when Eren turned into a Titan and Annie was revealed to be the Female Titan as well (and honestly I was critical too, especially when the Eren Titan was said to be "much stronger than the others") and both of them in the end had a different level of significance and authorial awareness. Eren didn't turn out to be this super perfect hero always saving the day and the reveal about Annie really wasn't as big of a deal as it initially seemed to be. Obviously, I could be completely wrong about this and this actually could be a clumsy directon to take the story in. It just smells after another misdirection and having a unexpected meaning.

Why are you guys using spoiler tags?

Called it though I'm stilll kinda surprised Armin is still alive with his skin all burned off
-
I want Erwin to have the serum, cause fuck Armin.
I like how their name are similar lol. -
Well both of them are dying quickly so it's not like tgey have much time. Hence the desperation from Mikasa and anger from Erin.
-
Thinking on them, Erwin will take it better, but the kill was armin's. He earned that loot.
-
Spoilers are out!
! Well, shit. It's Armin. But I actually like the execution, such as Hanji's words to Mikasa and Mikasa then "accepting" Armin's death. -
! Finally! Fiiiiinally! This massmurdering piece of Trash is getting eaten and is finally gone. He cried for help and mercy. The hell, think about all the innocent People that died, because of you, while/after destroying the Walls. Tenthousands were killed.
Iam actually sad, that Erwin died. But the outcome of this Scene was well choosed, IMO. Now the time has come. Eren, go to that freakin Basement, please! -
Translation!
http://fuku-shuu.tumblr.com/post/148529793837/shingeki-no-kyojinattack-on-titan-chapter-84
! I'm actually pretty fine with this on first impressions - gotta have to digest it a little more. You can't have someone with no aim lead the Survey Corps and Erwin gave up his and has none now.
Edit: Sorry, I thought people would just click the link, but I guess the text is troublesome to avoid.
-
dude just take the link out of the spoiler, you spoiled it for me before i even read it :(
anyways, this doesn't look like a bad translation but i don't like reading it in cliff notes so i'll wait for MS. -
! This could be or is the determinating shift in favor of the wall people. The giant titan in the hands of a tactician like Armin is worth 10 beast titans.
! Eren controlling lesser titans sitting on the shoulder of Armin guarded by Mikasa and Levi? Try to beat that.
! Cool decision from Levi though. -
I don't get it Levi's change of heart btw.
-
fuckin' dropped harder than a hot pan
-
My take on Levi's decision:
! Erwin is emotionally broken so unfit to continue leading. I'm happy with it because it wasn't about choosing Armin, any other soldier could've been there and this would've been the same. It's time for Hanji to take over.
-
http://mangastream.com/r/attack_on_titan/084/3594/1
mangastream's scans are up.! @KageKageKing:
! > I don't get it Levi's change of heart btw.
! Erwin took his hand out of the way when he tried to inject him. Levi probably didn't know why at first, but when he started remembering how jaded Erwin has become and how tired of life he seemed, he realized that this man didn't want to live anymore.
! Anyways this chapter was so damn satisfying to read, especially the death of the piece of shit Berthold. killed just like how he let poor Marco die. and the fact that he asked for help from his enemies (that he just said that he will commit mass genocide on) made him a even more pathetic weak willed character. Good riddance asshole, and welcome new badass Armin.
Now we'll probably see Bert memories through Armin and hopefully we'll get more info about the humans beyond the wall. Great chapter overall. -
Great so Armin lives thought I seen the last of that annoying fuck 2 chapters ago.
