I once evolved a Pikachu without actually using a stone. Certainly one of the most interesting and non-counterproductive glitches the game had.
Pokémon ORAS and Spinoffs: We Go!

How people even figure those things out???
-
Like Cookie did. By accident.
-
Oh yeah. When I did a Nuzlocke run for Pokémon Blue a while ago my Shellder kept wanting to evolve because I had an Onix in my team. That was freaky.
-
I just realized I forgot to collect this month's Celebi, how much longer is it being offered?

It goes up to March 24, so you already missed it.

Ah well. Thanks.

http://mynintendonews.com/2016/03/29/pokemon-gos-japanese-field-test-was-datamined/
! There are 151 Pokemon data files in the game. All are the original Gen I Pokemon, unfortunately.
! Classed into normal, legendary, and mythic.
! 232 moves, 95 of which are ‘quick’ moves. These include moves that are not in the game in the original RBY games e.g. Moonblast. THERE MAY BE 2 MOVES PER POKEMON (Warning: this is not directly confirmed, only implied.)
! Someone found a dodge function. Moves may not have 100% accuracy.
! Badges = Achievements. Includes: Walking a certain distance (Ingress Trekker), Pokedex entries, Pokemon Captures, Forts(Gyms?) defeated (Ingress Liberator?), Evolved, Hatched, Encounters, Pokestops visited(Ingress Hacker?), Unique Pokestops(Ingress Explorer), Pokeball thrown.
! 7 “natures” have been discovered in the game. These are Stoic, Guardian, Assassin, Raider, Protector, Sentry, and Champion.
! * All Pokemon types, including Fairy, Dark, and Steel, are included in the files.Evolution works by collecting “evolution shards” from wild Pokemon to get “evolution stones”. May or may not be unique for each Pokemon. The game keeps track of several factors like Ingress, including distance walked, eggs hatched, etc. This might affect, say, egg-hatching. There will be trainer customization. Example skin. There are in total 52 items (23,328 unique combinations) A variable related to the PokeNav has been found. IAPs spotted include “ball”, “medicine”, “food” bundles and “gem” packs. There are 4 tiers. Items include Pokeballs, Potions, Max Revive, 3 battle items, and 5 types of Berries (Razz, Bluk, Nanab, Pinap, Wepear). All these berries are introduced in Gen III, and they have no battle effects in the main game. Separated into 6 categories: Pokeball, Food(berries?), Medicine, Boost, Utilities, Camera. The trainer level cap seems to be at 50 for now. Inventory limit is 1000 for items, and 500 for Pokemon and eggs. The menu includes the Pokedex, Pokemon, and Items. Game engine is built on Unity. The teams are blue, red, and yellow. DAMAGE variables are included in the files. Also: “PokemonAttack baseDef indivDef PokemonDefense”. CPs seem to be unique to each individual Pokemon, and higher CP means a harder catch. Most likely stands for “Combat Points”. A variable called “Gym Points” was found. No idea what this means. Biomes (courtesy of /u/DonniesCatch) can be found, including locations like “Train Station” or “Hospital”. Separate biomes seem to have different backgrounds for Pokemon encounters/gym battles. Bonus pic. From the game map screenshots, there seem to be a day-night cycle. The Pokemon GO field test version was datamined. Bear in mind this is the field test version so it may not have everything the full world wide version does.

Ah well. Thanks.
I still have the Celebi from Pokemon Bank so I don't really need this other one. I could give it to you of you want.
-
! All Pokemon types, including Fairy, Dark, and Steel, are included in the files.
! If Dark is in, then they are already planning on expanding it to the other generations.

! Oh yeah no doubt. I'd be surprised if they left any Pokemon out.

So it is now April and its time for Jirachi. They also hold Salac berry apparently.
You can get them the same way as you got Celebi.I'm going to farm them again.
If anyone missed out on Celebi, shoot me a PM and I'll pick a random one out of my farmed box and give you.
-
Tyrano did you farm Mew? I'll trade ya a shiny for one :3
Trying to hatch a shiny Seel with Masuda method currently! Started last night and I just reached 90 eggs :U I wonder how long it'll actually take me shudders

Yes I have an extra one that I can spare.
Added your FC from your signature.
My FC is in my signature. -
Got ya! Thank you! :D

THank you for the quick trade :)

Only took me 397 eggs but who's counting eye twitches
-
I've whored out that Japanese Ditto I got in HeartGold via semi-legitimate means for so many years in the name of Masuda.
And I've only had it work once for me.
-
I don't think I'll be attempting Masuda again anytime soon. :C
-
Masuda-ing has netted me three shinies so far… one of which just sorta happened; Zaber the Greninja, Ragnarok the Aegislash and... a Cyndaquil that has no nickname and is overall pretty abysmal in terms of usability in battle. Zaber is amazing though and Ragnarok... well his Speed is way higher than I'd want it for a Pokémon whose entire fighting style depends on him striking last, but other than that he is also epic.
...And for the record, Zaber is 100% legit. Bred from two 6IV Froakies which I got all on my own because I had a second copy of X set to Japanese. The other two were bred using a hacked Ditto though.
-
For 2 months last year i was breeding via the Masuda method like all the time when i watched something on my Laptop or on TV, since it requires no concentration.
I think i got like 11 shinies that way of which 3 have 5 perfect IVs and everyone has the HA i wanted (although two of them had to be discarded because of wrong ability, so it's basically 13 shinies).
Multitasking FTW. -
In addition to current JIRACHI event on ORASXY, there's HOOPA available.
Serebii lists this event as Europe exclusive (you can get it with code HOOPA2016 in mystery gift), but!I discovered that I can actually get it in New Zealand as well.
If anyone else wants to try it out (those not in Europe as well), please try it.Otherwise, I'm farming this one as well (upto April 30th), so if anyone can't get a Hoopa, tell me and I'll get one for you.
Bare in mind that I'm farming it in all available languages so you can choose one out of 6 (choosing nature would be harder cuz I want to farm as many as I can and not aim for specific Nature IV etc) -
Also the HA Bird Trio Code is in the next month' Pokémon newsletter for US and EU users.
-
Just thought I'd mention that Team Four Star is doing a Nuzlocke run of Leaf Green. And Robby, you are not alone in your love for Sandshrew
I've been keeping up with it barring the grind episodes. It's funny how overly careful they've been and then leave Charmeleon in versus a Geodude. Magnitude ensues.
-
I came back to chaining Haunters today and after three hours I did it~
I must have made a mistake while counting though. I chained to 41 and then it took unusually long to encounter a shiny patch. Which could just be bad luck but this Haunter also only has two perfect IVs. One of which is Attack. Whatever, that's fine. XD
-
Pokemon GO field testing has expanded to New Zealand and Australia
-
Pokemon GO field test now has Gyms and interestingly real time combat

Downloaded Pokemon Yellow last day… training my Pikachu, Nidorina and Butterfree. Feels good starting a new adventure. Always.
I've tried playing Pokemon Picross too, and I love it. Too bad I have the impression the further you go, the less you pay and the more you pay. They shouldn't have made it free but sold it 10 euros instead, thus allowing players to play as much as they want without being limited by that stupid "gauge" system. -

At that point you can do the daily challenge for 7 or 8 points a day, and after like 2 weeks unlock enough to open up a new area… which you then get through in one session. As a result its super tedious and gets dull fast.
You CAN pay for it though (same as Rumble World) and they have a top ammount that once you pay unlocks everything. So sort of like a real game that way.
Shuffle is still screwed however.

Unless you use the Infinite Heart Exploit (till it's patched though)
-
Unless you use the Infinite Heart Exploit (till it's patched though)
Oh, is there a new glitch? Because if there's not a new exploit, then that was patched like a year ago.
Even if it is a new thing, infinite hearts mean nothing compared to the old infinite money and diamonds trick. Being able to buy all the powerups and extend rounds indefinitely till you won were much bigger cheats than simply being able to play again.
-
So I guess we're using this thread for small spinoffs and RBY as well now? Does that mean we can finally consolidate all pokemon in one thread?
-

May consider doing that, thanks for letting me know.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
So I guess we're using this thread for small spinoffs and RBY as well now? Does that mean we can finally consolidate all pokemon in one thread?
That would be a good thing to do, in my opinion.
-
No, the diverse threads serve distinct purposes, and Pokemon gets so much traffic it warrants having its own threads, since any given game gets like 200 pages of posts. Once there is actually SOMETHING to talk about on S&M, that thread will be all about that, news and speculation. Meanwhile, people still playing the earlier games and wanting to do trades or battle or refer to friend codes for the next year will still use this one.
It's not like Sonic the Hedgehog or Final Fantasy or Assassin's Creed where everything combined still comes out to a handful of pages or where the discussion is identical for months at a time ranting about how a franchise currently sucks.
Once Sun and Moon is out it will probably serve as a general Generation 7 thread and cover spinoffs then, up until whatever mid gen game gets announced two years later.
-
I'm well aware, you've said that before. Consider that my way of saying "look at all these posts about what the other thread is supposed to be about." I like consistency.
To keep things thematic, I actually got bored and caved and got blue. Planning on a team of Clefairy, Raichu, Bellsprout, Cloyster, Ninetales and Sandslash. I don't think I ever tried going without evolving pokemon in the classic games, so interested in seeing how it works. I'll probably wind up evolving Bellsprout, but clefairy I want to hold off on for sure.
-

There's a new glitch. buy at least 6 jewels and After using all hearts you can change the clock of your 3DS by 2,5 Hours and the glitch regenerates them immediately.
I know the other glitch was better but infinite Meowth/Ampharos grinding is nice

So, a couple of weeks ago while I was finally beating Alpha Sapphire I was like "You know what? I should complete the Pokedex! How hard could it be?!"
Flash forward to now and my roomie and I are now only 18-22* Pokemon away from having a complete living Dex in the Pokemon Bank.
We have 18 more to evolve. We don't count the 5 or so legendaries we don't have yet but know are being distributed later in the year. It's ~22 if you count them. And by "Living Dex" I mean not just the Pokedex entries… we have one of EVERY Pokemon, organized in order by National Pokedex, that can be transferred into any game at will. So when Sun/Moon come out, we'll already have the prior 720 lol........
I'm crazy aren't I?

Nah, I did the same when Pokémon Y came out. It's so much easier nowadays with the GTS, if you need a trade evolution just offer a Bidoof and look for the Pokémon you need evolve. No sane person would accept that offer besides you. Doing a live PokéDex in Gen I on the 3DS is pretty much impossible if you have no one else to trade with. I'm only missing the Mythical Pokémon from Gen IV and V and then I'm done.
I'm also astonished that there are most probably people who have done it since Gen III. It must have taken ages to transfer all of them between each generation with those stupid minigames. Bless PokéBank.
-
I have a complete livedex in Y. I didn't bother transferring it forward to AS because… why? The full thing gives me a shiny charm and I have proper bidoofs and good breeding areas and friend safaris, it'll probably be my go-to.
Remains to be seen if I'll bother transferring forward to Moon, or if I'll just worry about catching everything in the new gen/regional dex and being satisfied with that.
The one lame thing about a livedex is it really cannibalizes your box inventory in-game. You have a few left over but once you've got leads from old games, vivillion variants, extra lengendaries, a few you want to play, maybe a couple breeding projects... out of space.
-
That's why the Pokemon Bank is such a good thing lol
-
I don't trust the bank to hold my crap longer than it takes to move it. Cause Nintendo.
-
Eh, I doubt they're gonna let a big thing of one of their flagship franchises go down in flames, at least not without warning. They told us Club Nintendo would be going away and we had ample time to prepare. I think the Bank would be roughly the same.
It's probably not going anywhere soon, at least not until after Sun and Moon come out, so I could easily just move onto the new game and make either Alpha Sapphire or X the new storehouse for the Living Dex when that happens.
Speaking of the Living Dex, we finished it! 718 Pokemon safe and sound in the Bank!
(only missing Arceus and Meloetta, both Event Legendaries so they don't count towards Dex completion in-game, and both are on the schedule for Nintendo to release for the anniversary distribution this year) -
I'm crazy aren't I?
If you're crazy, than I'm a loon.
Completing the Pokedex was once my pride and joy in a Pokemon game, although I never quite took it to the level of having one of each Pokemon - in order! - in the boxes. Often I get lost when trying to find a specific pokemon XD
And since I really don't care about EVs and breeding with specific natures, I suppose I could honestly try it one day. Then again….most of the pokemon would come from Y and OmegaRuby (I removed everyone from the bank cuz I don't use it anymore), so wouldn't it kinda undermine the hard work of doing it all?
Doing it with migration, lucky GTS, and endless trading back in HeartGold stands as my magnus opus for Pokemon....

Nope I complete it every region since the 4th(since I wasn't able to before), I even did a living dex in my pokemon bank this region, as in 1-721.
If you are crazy I guess I am also XD, I think I'm just a completionist xD.
-
Speaking of the Living Dex, we finished it! 718 Pokemon safe and sound in the Bank!
Pardon my curiosity but, what about different forms? Did you manage to get all those too?
Cause if you did then we're at like, the same amount of crazy. ('cept you might be crazier since you seemed to have completed it super fast) -
Eh, I doubt they're gonna let a big thing of one of their flagship franchises go down in flames, at least not without warning.
It's not about the bank itself dissapearing, that would at least have warning.
Its about do they remember to remind me to pay the extra five bucks a year? Do they take that five bucks automatically without me knowing it? If my current 3DS dies will I reliably be able to get back into my account? And "Do I really need to spend 5 bucks on this when it' does fit on the cartridge? What happens when it goes to the next console? Why is this service not just free with the damn game? Especially after having bought like 8 of them?"
Do I really care about this service for more time than what I already used it for to move shit forward once? DO I really want to bother doing that all again next time?
It was their coding in the first place that made trading between gens incompatible. Making the bank free for the first couple weeks was a decent gesture, but then you realize it was also their decision to make it literally impossible to get everything in XY without the old gens to begin with.
It's not about the whopping 5 bucks a year, (that's what, 41 cents a month?) its just the general feel and principle of the thing.
-
-
No you're not. I'm crazy for making a SHINY Living Dex lol
Doesn't sound really complete unless you are keeping shiny specimens of both genders…
:ninja:
-
And here I thought completing the whole Pokédex entries on Pokémon Platinum was a pain already.

Nah, maybe those which have a real difference like Pyroar
