Fair enough, but life will not always provide that clever third solution. Sometimes you HAVE to make the hard choices. You can't always Koboyashimaru it. It'd be a missed opportunity if the series never addresses this.
My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist

I feel like that solution is basically calling for the "hard choice" version to happen, kinda setting that possibility up. But it really will be a missed opportunity (and disappointing) if it's never adressed.
Remember this was mentioned by All Might before the arc started, too. In the end he's just one guy and can't save everyone.
-
Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu (I don't know how you people resist the urge to use his full name) fight was cool, but I would have preferred if there was a clear sense or urgency in it. If the other students on imediate risk of falling because of the gas or something like that. Taking that guy down should be an important blow against this attack of the villain alliance, but it seemed like it was just one of the bad guys being defeated.
I like the other part best with Shouji being fleshed out, I really like when the minor students are used. Sadly, in the end it was Midoriya who managed to use Shouji powers properly and not Shouji himself.
In the end it was a chapter full of "good moments that could have been better" to me.
-
Agree with whoever said they liked Gas Guy constantly shooting Tetsu in the head. Dude wasn't playing around. Got no problem with him getting one punched, he wasn't built up as a fighter. But, I'd like to have seen some backstory. He clearly has hate for Yuuei students. Did he fail the entrance exam? Did he want to be a hero at some point? A shame we didn't learn his motivation.
In the end it was a chapter full of "good moments that could have been better" to me.
Yeah. I'm trying to pinpoint what's holding the series down, not the say it's bad but there's room for improvement. Better developed villains (AKA Stain) and more supporting character focus would be nice.
I'd like more of an MCU approach to MHA. Deku is the lynch pin (Iron Man) but don't be afraid to focus on Thor, Cap, etc. But, switch it up and focus on team-ups too (Avengers & GotG). Basically, don't make MHA like Dragon Ball AKA The Goku Show starring Goku featuring everyone else.

Yes, eventually, but this one would be stupid not to solve it like this.
-
"Oh Tokoyami, you accidentally killed tsuyu and kouji in your rampage, but wasn't that a thrill?"
Hey, friendly fire is definitely also a thrill. That's why team attack is always on for smash for me.

Wasn't that done with Tetsu himself?

There is some valid criticism here but I feel like a lot of it seems premature until we see this arc plays out in its entirety.
Gas Mask kid definitely seemed like he was being billed as a pillar of disruption/support so I'm not too surprised he couldn't really carry his weight in a fight, and he may've been one dimensional so far but I'm sure we'll get at some tidbit of his story in due time. I get wanting to flesh out the villains a bit with backstory but imo that would really disrupt the flow of the story too much at this point to try and shove all of that in right now, maybe in a passing comment or two, but a full blown flashback would water things down too much.
So on some devil's advocate shit… I mean, while it would be nice if there was some deeper meaning to their motivation for wanting to be bad guys I can't really fault the writing if a handful of them are just wanting to go wild with their quirks and fuck shit up because they're tired of being shackled and repressed by societal norms. Not like it hasn't been alluded to.
And on the topic of the League of Villains dudes losing face and not seeming like a real threat, I'll wait and see how things continue to play out, but right now that is admittedly on the money. I don't think anyone was expecting them to just pull this off without a hitch seeing as they are a newly formed rag-tag group against pros and pros-in-training(even Dabi and Cloner-san's exchange pushed this) but thus far it is definitely a little too one-sided so hopefully there are some serious consequences in the end that can make them seem like a legitimate threat, though being able to get the highly under-wraps intel of the camp's whereabouts could be considered scary enough on its own.
Anyways, it was really cool that TetsutetsuTetsutetsu and Kendou were given some time in the lime-light so hopefully that trend of switching up to other students altercations continues, I mean I'm glad to see Deku staying in the fight by flexing that Batman-side of his, but would be nice to see some of the kids who've had less focus get some for a change.
That would be unnecessarily dangerous.

Only problem I have is the gas mask kid not having help. You'd think since he's a student(?), and has a weak physical skillset on top of being affected by his own quirk that they'd keep somebody with him as a protector
Maybe they figured he could handle himself with a gun In all that gas. Convenient that Tetsu was the one that found him.
Also while admirable as Deku is, how does he know where Bakugou is? You figure he's still be on the trail but that's only a guess. They could be anywhere, and this distraction plan could have lead to a rampage around the forest.
Artwork was fantastic though, and I like the manga to much to care a lot about trifle things like that. I guess that means it's up there with One Piece for me.

Gas boy was doing fine by himself. He had the protection of his own gas to hide and detect people coming at him. It's his own fault that he wanted to fight back.

Considering he did find Shouji and Tokoyami, who were the 1st team in the trail, his guess of Bakugou and Todoroki (the 2nd team) right behind them was more justified than not.
-

I'd assume that was on Shouji since he can heighten his senses via extra ears etc. And considering Shouji/Tokoyami were at Bakugou/Todoroki's location just a couple minutes prior to the current time they couldn't have been very far away.
-
It's out on Mangastream.
-
Himiko is now a contestant for the Deku Bowl.
MS shouldve used Tsuyu Chan instead of TsuTsu, what was up with that?
Nice that we finally got to see Ochako using CQC, was her training something like this?
-
Really hoping this doesn't go the Naruto route, one can only hope.
-
I dont mind if this is gonna be Sasuke Retrival 2.0, since it was one of the best Naruto Arc(gave us development and great fights).
If Magician gets to run away the 5 that will go and rescue both Kacchan and Fumikage would be IMO
Ochako
Shouji
Shouto
Iida
KirishimaIm only basing this on people who have had interactions with both Bakugou and Fumikage, then Deku returns ala Rock Lee.
-
Even if it did, Bakugou's personality is so completely different than Sasuke that the results would be entirely different. I am more than willing to bet that the villains assuming Bakugou would join them would just piss him off. Besides, we just had an arc that turned Bakugou's attitude around a bit. Had Deku and Bakugou failed the test against AM, I would see this as more of a possibility.
-
If we're comparing with Naruto, Bakugou is probably closest to Kiba.
He's loud, impulsive and agressive but his heart is in the right place.
Still, not sure how dark this manga plans to become, so anything is possible. I think villains definitely need a win, even if small one, otherwise they'll hardly be taken seriously.
-
I like seeing Tokoyami wrecking shit.
-
I was disappointed and at the same time pleasantly surprised (how you can be both? I don't know) that Bakugou didn't got jealous of how much stronger Tokoyami was compared to him and everyone else. Both him and Todoroki seemed impressed but perfectly fine with Tokoyami taking teeth guy down in seconds.
-
OUCH @ Tsuyu's tongue getting cut. That will be sore as hell.
And damn, that girl gets crazier and crazier.
Lol @ her falling for Deku because she loves people covered in wounds who smell like blood XD -
Bakugou has a pretty strict vision on heroes that he applies to himself so I doubt he will be willingly joining the villains. Specially since they have lost their battles and he thinks a hero is someopne who always wins.
So unless they offer him invincibility or something… I don't think he's going to take the sasuke route.Doesn't meant though, that he can't be a damsel in distress if gets pissed at being protected and acts recklessly.
In his state, Deku is relegated to team strategist. Not bad. Gives the others time to shine but keeps him where the action is.
On an ending note, I love Tsuyu. She is strong, brave, loyal and has a good head on her shoulders. And she is damn cute.
-
I'm totally fine with Deku as team strategist since he went and broke himself early. He's totally right that Shouto/Shouji/Iida/Tokoyami/Bakugou is a killer lineup though. That team could easily turn the tide of any

He has the perfectcounter to it and the shadow-guy has no real control over it once it's this powerful. Nothing to be jealous of.

what a great chapter. i pretty much have the same thoughts as all of you.
really psyched for the close quarters fighting power up. combined with her abilities her fighting style can really evolve in some interesting ways
-
Tokoyami's ability continues to look awesome. Ochako's hand-to-hand combat was pretty cool, too.
Good chapter.
-
That's it. Was cute/dangerous the first time, and inocent turned dark the second one, but if Ochako doesn't woman up and deals with the crush, it's going to either kill her or cost her credibility as a hero.
So the magician captured Bakugou, or did he just escape and is bluffing?, with him and the Nemu (or another random dude with muscles and exposed brain. It's a nemu) stalking Momo and Bandana, we know the villians group.
-
This is going to be like the Sasuke arc again but with shithead Bakugou, isnt it?
-
And Tokoyami apparently. It seems he was taken along with Bakugou.
-
The thing I like about this manga is its characters. Sure, they might look like shounen cliches at first, but they get more and more likeable as the story progresses.
Midoriya is the i am so weak but i never give up protagonist, but his fights are usually won more by intelligence than luck. I like characters that use their brains.
I disliked Bakugou at first, he seemed like the stuck up holier and more badass than thou mean rival. Later, he starts to mature more and genuinely respects people, works hard and try to catch up by his own ability, unlike a certain rival who goes boohoo he's stronger I hate him so much I am gonna run away cough (even though no chapter will be complete without Bakugou cussing)
Also, Uraraka best girl! waves flag -
Another thing this manga does really well (compared to most shonen titles I've seen) is trying to give the girls some good moments.
Uraraka's resilience against Bakugou, Kyouka fighting on despite her eardrums bursting, Momo's plan to beat Aizawa,
Tsuyu's usefulness and competence in general, Urakara's CQC skills shown in this chapter, etc.Sure, we could still stand to see a lot more from them, but what we've had so far is great and encouraging :)

I think Horikoshi being born in a different generation from other shonen mangakas may have something to do with it. Horikoshi is a part of the millennial generation, being born in the late 80s. One key characteristic of that generation is how open they are to information. So, it's not surprising to see Horikoshi doing a good job of highlighting the girls thanks to the rising awareness on female presentation in all forms of media.
-
The only girl who had something remotely similar to character development is Urakara and she has fallen soon into MC's romantic interest.
All the important villains are still male and so are all the heroes or students with some background.
-
Yeah, I think MHA has done a pretty solid job with the girls. Well-written female characters are people first, women second. The second part gets difficult for most (especially male) writers, but I think Horikoshi has done good. My favorite female character from him is still Oumagadoki Zoo's Hana, though. He can do very good. The girls just need more screentime.
-

So I guess Momo never got character development
-
The series is still young, there's plenty of time to explore more of the classmates. Lots of males have been ignored so far too in terms of extra development.
Plus, Momo got some development with her whole self confidence thing, which also strengthened her friendship with Todoroki.
I wasn't specifically talking about character development either, just that overall they've been given a much better showing than one has come to expect from an average shonen.
Uraraka VS Bakugou is one of the most respectable male vs female fights I've seen in years, and the others have had certain moments to shine too. S'all I'm sayin. -

I don't think we'll be seeing main important bad guys who are girls in this manga. At least female villains who aren't just there to fight with female heroes. Something about a male protagonist laying the serious beatdown (not just a punch or a slap) to a female villain is still seen as something disturbing even for countries with more gender equality than japan.
I'm really hoping for a Tsuyu backstory soon. It's driving me crazy.

Saaaaame.
Not only does the she have a cool/unique design, but she also has a cool head in combat and has proven time and time again to be useful.
She's really awesome and more of her is always a good thing. -
I really didn't like this chapter. The Uraraka/Asui stuff was fine (though how much time does the villain girl need to activate her quirk? What a useless quirk) but the rest? Eh.
Oh my god, what a super cool Shadow monster design, I wodner what damage it will cause, how intense the battle against it will…it gets anticlimactically dealt with in 6 pages. Yeah Tokoyama your speech of regret on losing control loses impact when all you did with your shadow monster is defeat one of the bad guys...
Or how about the classic cliffhanger. Where after the chapter hyped up their special protect Bakugo unit....they immediately lose him. And not because of an enemy attack or anything, they were "negligent". Yeah, put that in a big quote chapter, try and make the stupid situation sound impressive.
I'm noticing more and more that the series struggles to balance multiple plot lines. When it focuses on one thing (Stain) it's great but when it tries to juggle many things, it comes off as sloppy and unfocused where the author can't prioritize the more engaging subplots and rushes his story-telling leaving for an unsatisfying resolution.
Meh.
-
Don't know how you can call that "negligence" when it was the villain quirk, should they been more aware of their surrounding? Yes, but even that wouldn't take away the villain maneuver on how to accomplish their objective and the girl activating her quirk, c'mon now… There's clearly more to it that her TRYING to toy with enemies.
I agree with everyone saying that girls in this series rock!
-
4th PV is here!
Animation looks great, considering this is probably all taken from the first episode. -

Don't know how they were negligent when the villain literally says that he did it.

More seiyuu announcements.
Mina = Kitamura Eri
Aoyama = Kuwano Kousuke
Kyouka = Suwa Ayaka
Shouji = Kobayashi Yuusuke -
never realized how much navel laser look like a young Pariston Hill until now
he's almost as sparkly too….almost
-
! Damn… tons of action in this one. Aoyama seems like he's officially out of the potential traitor race. He was carrying Kyouka and (allegedly) Hagakure back to the dorm/teachers.
! And that Noumu looks terrifying, seems like it may've taken out Ragdoll as well. -
! Loving the teamwork here.
Looks like Uraraka made them lighter, then Tsuyu used her tongue to fling them forward. GENIUS!
The impact at the end seems to be satisfyingly drawn too. -

People seem to forget this. There were TEN villains. The color spread only had nine. The one that people think is the tenth is the underground broker. Yes he's a bad guy, but not a villiain. The last one is that guy with the spikes on his back that was shown when Dabi and Spinner was first shown after the big Stain Craze.
-
Count.
Dabi, blood girl, duplicate man, smoke kid, muscle man, nemu no 5, magic man, magne, spring? Lizard face, and moonfish. Full 10.
