That number is not to be taken literally, is just Deku boasting some confidence in himself. We all know that If that number were to be correct we would end up with a One Punch man type of scene.
My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist

In any fight, the biggest obstacle is yourself. Your doubts, fears, survival instinct. All get in the way. At least that's what Rocky said in the new Creed movie.:ninja: I think AM tried to say the same things by talking pushing beyond 100%, a tactic used by many in athletics and military.
Deku just pushes beyond his limits despite tearing up his body, heroic stuff. I'm sure there's even more power there to tap into. I knew that guy couldn't withstand all of OFA.
I don't know why people are upset at the 100000% thing. This ain't real life, it's just a Japanese comic. Gotta get into the spirit of things.
-
Seriously, I never gave that number any thought.
It's just a shame he's probably going to be out of the fights after this. The kid will probably use his power to help out, though, that much was foreshadowed. His side quest needs to be resolved after all.
So, didn't want to think about it too much, but any guesses as to whose severed arm that was? From what that guy was saying, it looks like the owner got away after the beast got carried away with eating.
-
After this chapter we better see Toga vs Tsuyu and Ochako, with Deku out , we gotta see the lead Female protagonist improvement, just how good her hand to hand combat skills are..
-
If you weren't internally Shonen powerup screaming along with Deku as you read this chapter I don't know what to say to you.

For real.
I don't have a problem with hyperbolic shenanigans.
What will be interesting is how Izuku/the story reconciles the 1000000% when recounting the story to All Might, given how sort of…practical their conversations concerning those numbers have been up until now."One _million_ percent? There you go again, Prince of Nonsense!!"
-
Shonen battle manga fans have always taken power levels far too seriously. To the point of obsession. It's very puzzling.
-
I took Deku's attacks this chapter simply to mean that he has no clue how much power he actually utilizes.
Hell, after the second "100%" punch artificial eye guy even comments on how this attack is weaker than the first, indicating that there is a discrepancy in strength even though the attacks have the same percentage. This could be due to Deku's exhaustion, but in the past, One for All always been shown to work now matter how badly a state he was in.
The thing is, Deku has never gone over 5% before. He simply doesn't know the full potential of his power. His desire to beat his enemy drove him to push the limits of One for All, wanting to go all-out. But what he thought were 100% - a tremendous strength he had never used before - was still just a fraction of what One for All can do. He realized that and went even further, going beyond his limited, faulty concept of One for All's scale, discovering that there's even more power inside him that he didn't even imagine before. And it's very possible that his "1000000%" still hasn't reached the full potential of One for All.
-
The number represents Deku going beyond his limits because anything being hit with a million OFA should be dust. But using the million to show Deku limit breaking is bad. One of those "wouldn't it be cool if" moments that sounds good in your head but doesn't work on paper.
Hope there's serious ramifications for Deku going all out. And, I also agree the fight scene was intense but didn't have the impact of a One Piece fight but comparing this mangaka to the seasoned Oda seems unfair.
It's just a shame he's probably going to be out of the fights after this. The kid will probably use his power to help out, though, that much was foreshadowed. His side quest needs to be resolved after all.
I love Deku finishing early. Gives more time to other characters. Basically focus on the Justice League as a whole not just Superman. But, Deku could always use his Batman side to help strategically.
-
Well at the time I wrote that, I didn't realize the new chapter was out already.

I like this explanation. He's human after all, not a calculator. And this series has been pretty light on random power ups so far, and it's in a context that makes sense.
If anything it was the lack of build up for Kouta and especially the villain that made the fight weak.
-
Holy shit, Ectoplasm?? He looks so nerdy without his hero costume, I love it!
-
Yeah. Whatever happened to demon wings kid?
-
Ha, Uraraka seems to have to sleep with gloves on. Never actually thought about that.
-
Imagine her in cat lingerie with cat gloves on like the Pussycats…..
Also, never expected Jirou to look so good in glasses!

! Deku needs to chill down before he runs out of limbs.
-
! Awww man, that arm was Tokoyami's!
Well, he probably doesn't need it to use his quirk but still, damn! -
Holy crap
! Todoroki in that last page.
Did he actually lost an arm?Edit: Got ninja´ed by Bond.
I´ll get you next time! -
! So seems that the black spiderman-ish looking villain has a quirk that lets him make copies.. he did have extra hands in the colorspread so that makes sense. And just speculation but I think the Chatterer villain can make his teeth into those blades.
! Wonder what's up with Tokoyami though - quirk control problems because it's night or did he lose a hand. '~'–- Update From New Post Merge ---

I´ll get you next time!! It is a possibility but it isn't shown or stated yet, just a vague tease with him looking strained in the panel. It might just be him struggling to control his quirk at night since he's mentioned such things before.
-
! But on the other hand, he's the best weapon the heroes have on their side right now
-
! Holy shit I forgot how awesome Aizawa is when he's doin his thing. The way Horikoshi draws him in those action sequences is so fricken cool!
-
Yeah. Whatever happened to demon wings kid?
Apparently, it's implied he's the flying Noumu Stain killed.
Or at least is related.
-
! I think someone should tell Deku that if you have a heavily broken arm you are not supossed to go around running and flapping them in the open like a scarf.
! I know this is a shonen, but when you are making a big deal out of a character getting injured you need to be a bit consequential afterwards -

tokoyami arms!!! wtf

Tasuku Hatanaka as Denki Kaminari
Toshiki Masuda as Eijiro Kirishima -
okay… that was an awesome cliffhanger. I mean, the students (and us, the readers) didn't really need an 'authorization for combat' cause they're already in deep shit (what else would you do?); but nevertheless, seeing it spoken (with a double spread) made a whole lotta difference. I am really loving this series

Fumikage about to unleash the beast, the best part of the cliffhanger.
-
Yeah, loved that cliffhanger because it might also give some of the Class B chasracters time to shine, the rest was kind of just obvious set-up and wrap-up.
-
Another great chapter. Strategic thinking all around, and some great choreography during Aizawa's action sequence. Persevere, Tokoyami!
Also, veeeery interesting that the Villain Alliance wants to turn Kacchan. Not totally unexpected, but it's good to know the story plans to go that route.
-
Seriously hate the "zero tolerance" crap being piled on them for usage of their quirks. Zero Tolerance policies have always been terrible because of this.

Agreed. I mean what do they really expect people with quirks to do that aren't heroes?
"Oh man. Look at all the dead students! At least they followed the rules and didn't use their quirks to defend themselves."
-
The policy itself is stupid, but it's on the vein of don't do what you lack knolwedge to do.

just like with defeating Stain. It's one of the reasons people hate the system, among others.
-
Something about the change in Aizawa when he's fighting from his typical really fascinates me. Maybe because of how dynamically the action sequences are drawn and how he's usually so stiff. Whatever it is, I love it. Nice cliffhanger to boot!
-
^Definitely. Eraserhead's scuffles are a highlight for me as well.
I really like the parallel with Eraserhead between the previous and current villain assaults. Last time he was the one being forcibly held with his face to the ground in that position, but this time around he flipped the script.
-
So, clone guy was giving Dabi the middle finger and a thumbs up?
-
I just saw the Mob Psycho 100 trailer, and am I the only one really worried about MHA's budget? God, I swear if they give MHA a sub-par budget like Nardo, I will lose all hope in any Jump adaptations from here on out.
-
Bones and Studio Pierrot are two different beasts, so I wouldn't be worried about them sacrificing budget given that they don't really go for dragging out series for season after season.
-
Problem is, it feels like they're doing too many projects at once this year: Shirayuki, Bungo Stray Dogs, MHA, and Mob Psycho 100. I'm not too worried, given their good track record, but it is slightly concerning they're taking on more projects than usual. At least, from what I can remember.
-
Todoroki Shouto will be voiced by Kaji Yuuki.
-
Hey, he voices Alibaba(Fire) and Lyon(Ice). It fits.
Oh. And he is Mel as well. -
For some reason I imagined Kaji Yuki more as Bakugou (maybe it's Eren's and Yukine's raging and crying that I have in mind). Todoroki seems too stoic for him, but cool.
-
He's also Kenma from Haikyuu and Otaku guy from Durarara. Lol.
-
I vote he gets voiced by Dante Basco in the english dub.
-
Yuuki? My god this guy is everywhere….
-
! BDSM guy might have the weirdest power yet and I like it. And look, Tokoyami is ok, kind of!
