So if somebody farts around Asking and he inhales a lot of it he can kill with changing volume of "how much of a fart kills a person" ? Crazy power is crazy.
Just a thought that came to me when I was relaxing and looking through this thread.

And then there's still the Fullbringers lurking around…
At this point I should make a counter since the last appearance, because really, what in god's name are they even gonna do?
Riruka/Yukio were with Ichigo and the gang before this "battle in the city" began, and last time we saw Tsukishima, Ginjou, and Giriko, they were…..what, training at Kukaku's house? What the hell was up with them?
@.access:
I don't get why I dislike Yoruichi. She is the kind of character I should like (I mean, she and Matsumoto are pretty much the same character and I love Matsumoto), but she just bores me.
And the inclusion of a retarded mini-male-her doesn't help.
I dislike her too, but for different reasons. Honestly, she irritates me. She strikes me as very Mary Sue-ish.

I can only hope Kubo forgets that he did show them in a panel years ago.
The only thing that bugs me from this chapter is that Askin can't seem to resist the urge to explain his power anymore. Soooo… uh, technically if he becomes immune to reiatsu/reishi by consuming it, doesn't that mean he can just No Sell anything within spiritual realm? I mean, even lightning strikes and combustion register as "reiatsu" to him just because they're powered by one.
Oh, and that panel where Askin's silhouette shows that he's survived the attack with Yoruichi's half-shown shaded and surprised face? That's so classic BLEACH. Bonus point when there's idle chat to be interrupted by the revelation that the villain's still alive.

Still as cliche as latest chapters are Askin still feels like Joseph Joestar relative put into Bleach world. At least for me.

I can't help but feel like that's an insult to the Joestar's.

Overestimating Joseph much
But on serious not you really cannot see how Kubo got inspired by JoJo number 2 ?
First example being this scene
Mini spoiler for part 2 of JoJo
!
Also Askin is quite into stylish poses(a bit of them, more then most of Bleach characters) and wacky explanations.

I'm not doubting that there may be inspiration, I just feel comparing a Bleach character to a Jojo character feels like an insult to the Jojo character, regardless of accuracy.

I would say that its compliment for Joseph to be compared to Askin as Askin is one of most interesting bad guys in years as it goes for Bleach standards.
He falls short of a true JoJo, but askin is trully a JoJo character lost in bleach, just as law was a bleach character lost in one piece, but While law showed development into a full character askin will just devolve into a cardboard of clichés just like every bleach villain
Who knows, he may become the next Szayel Aporro (yes, I really like that guy)

I would not cross out Askin as proper bad guy. He should imo kill at least on smug faced good character - even I could see Yoruichi actually dying to him, saving her brother.
Birdbrain failed to kill Shunsui or anybody else but I would really be sad if Asking would end up killing 0 good guys.
Even Gremmy or Bazz B have better record than him till now..
If not for his explanations of ability he would be really Death-Dealing villain.
I am still really interested in his fight and how it will go. He is pretty smart beside that explanation stuff. He could have just waited for few moments till Nimayia drops dead but he had to explain everything.. but on other hand Kubo written himself into a corner with Askins ability as without explanations he is too deadly .
Jojo is the kind of manga Bleach wants to be, a long monster of the volume manga with superpowers.
Kubo is clearly a Jojo fan too, look at his tribute to Araki. The fullbringers lifted the idea of stand names too.
Both the authors share similar interests too, they both like (western) music and fashion. Kubo mentioned he liked architecture and interior design in an interview, and judging by the Higashikata household in Jojolion, Araki probably has a passing interest too. Of course, the difference is that these interests are expressed more interestingly in Jojo.
The biggest thing is with Aizen, who I firmly believe is supposed to be a poor mans Dio. The thing with Dio while being OP and intelligent is that he had flaws and knew that no matter how much he planned, things could never go the way he wanted it to. Aizen planned so much over the span of 100's of years which all went according to plan until the last second where he got defeated.

By the time he fought Jotaro, Dio had the sense to be crazy cautious about how he went about it.
! Ironically that's what worked most against him in that fight.
Kubo mentioned he liked architecture and interior design in an interview…
That explains Arrancar names.
With the "revelations" from the past few chapters, I am inclined to believe that the soul king is like the Judge from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/The_Judge

You might want to cover that with spoiler tags.
I know at least one person that wonders this thread and plan on reading Jojo very very very very soon. Ins´t that right right, Outerspec?

Jojo is several decades old. Marking that fight for spoilers is like still treating the "I am your father" darth vader moment as spoilers.

The inevitability of Jotaro fighting Dio is pretty much there from ep 1 of Stardust Crusaders, and you can't really describe SC without "Dio's back", so I don't really consider that a spoiler, beyond mentioning that Dio's no idiot.
That said, I went back an spoiler tagged the relevant part.

It's also not well known state side and only now getting wide spread release, so it's not quite comparable to Vader or Rosebud. It does make sense not to spoil too much.
Would be a spoiler if I said Dio drops a steamroller at Jotaro?

I'd say yes just for how specific it is. Though it's iconic enough it could go either way.

That reminds me, I think it's mentioned somewhere that Soul King is personally "interested" in Ichigo. Did that actually go somewhere, or kind of stopped at Royal Guard's special training for him and his shinigami friends?

…
I was more worried with
! Giving away that DIO didn´t die in Part 1/makes a return for a part where a character named Jotaro shows up.
But thanks for putting the spoilers.

I'd need to reread those chapters, but I don't think that was even a thing.

If it were, the fact he's a more limbless thing in a crystal puts paid to that, I think.

You're welcome.
At the very least, I now remember that Ichigo had never actually met Soul King prior the incident where he unwillingly slashed the latter in twain by the courtesy of Bach's blood bending. Soo.. yeah, that subplot definitely would've gone nowhere even if it had existed.

blood bending, haha. But was it ever explained why quincy blood "rejects" the soul king?

My theory is Daddy Issues, given Yhwach once called him "Father."
There's barely any room for that "Bloody Hatred for SK" to ever come up / be relevant again since SK itself is no more. Also, there's nobody (that I know of) in Sternritter who picked up that trait either, not even the insane nor the god-complex ones. To me, that particular scene is just forced way to make Ichigo feel guilty for letting the Bach win, which I doubt leave any impact anyway since he never interacted with SK at all to even know if it's a person with personality or just corpse covered in crystal.
Maybe Kubo was busy trying to decide whether to keep SK's limbs like in his first appearance or tearing those apart and make mini-bosses out of them, therefore delaying SK's appearance in flesh until it's too late.
I'm honestly beginning to believe my cracked theory that the SK is an evil god and Bach is not the real Bach, but an imposter.
At this point I'm basically just reading for Urahara & Shinji's bankais and maybe a Segunda Etapa for Grimmjow.
After that, I'm really not fussed.
It's also not well known state side and only now getting wide spread release, so it's not quite comparable to Vader or Rosebud. It does make sense not to spoil too much.
The manga was a widespread release, it was available for anyone to find it and the ZA WARUDO meme gave it plenty of exposure nearly a decade ago. It's a weak excuse to use newcomers as a reason to mark the plots of old creative works as "spoilers."
This isn't a guy screaming "snape kills dumbledore" at the premier launch of that book. It's people in 2016 referencing a plotpoint from 1992.
That's over 23 years old. I'm just going to go ahead and declare that if a plotpoint is old enough to legally drink alcohol and have a bachelor's degree then it's not spoilers anymore.
It´s not even comparable…
Yes it is. They're both plot points that are decades old.
And you're missing the point. The point is, spoilers have a shelf life and how Dio got killed is way past expiration.

Perhaps official widespread release would be better phrasing.
In any case, the original issue was never that I spoiled Dio's defeat, it was that I spoiled Dio's return. I should spoiler tag the former since knowing he will lose isn't the same as knowing how it happens.
The latter I don't consider a true spoiler for many of the reasons you mentioned. Dio is such a huge part of Jojo lore that any casual conversation about the series would bring him up. On top of that, part 3's entire plot revolves around confronting Dio, so you can't even mention one without the other in that case. Something like that can't really be called a spoiler without actively keeping someone in the dark about it (which, apropos of nothing, is how s friend introduced me to School-Live).
That said, shelf life or not, I try not to go around casually spoiling things. You could say the same shelf life applies to Giorno's origins but I'm not about to mention anything specific on that at least part 5 is out in the US.
At this point I'm basically just reading for Urahara & Shinji's bankais and maybe a Segunda Etapa for Grimmjow.
After that, I'm really not fussed.
Urahara's strength as a character won't be complemented much by a more powerful Zanpakuto. Shinji's Bankai is probably no more than a single chapter's worth, especially after he explains it in detail, because of course he will. Grimmjow could deliver I guess. Kubo had some nice designs when it came to Arrancar. Especially compared to some of Quincy Vollstandig.
Possibility of seeing Tessai fight with some wicked Kido is what drives me forward.
Alas…
Btw, I'm so glad I didn't accidentally read a spoiler about an unrelated manga I was planning to read soon!
If you're going to discuss plot points of other works which you can't be sure everyone has read, at least have some sense to cover it with spoiler tags. It's one short click (go advanced), one longer click (to mark the text) and one more short click (to click the spoiler button). 3 clicks. And before you say everyone should have read it by now, I'm not asking for a donation, lazy ass.

Sorry about that. Though I genuinely didn't consider the fact of that one particular character reappearing later a spoiler in and of itself given you learn about it almost immediately (literally the first scene of Part III). Though for what it's worth there's plenty there I didn't spoil to be enjoyed. Nothing of consequence was spoiled, I assure you.
Urahara's strength as a character won't be complemented much by a more powerful Zanpakuto.
That's true, it's more about the slight hints we've had about it in the series that intrigue me.
Focus was drawn to it with Urahara's passing of the captain exam during the turn back the pendulum arc and also with his innovative use of the induced zanpakuto manifestation using a gigai all the way back in the soul society arc.
There was also the whole tidbit during Chad and Renji's training during the arrancar arc, with Urahara mentioning quite mysteriously that his bankai was "not suitable for training".
Also, he's probably my favourite character in the series and I'd just like to see it, even without the minor intrigue.
Shinji's Bankai is probably no more than a single chapter's worth, especially after he explains it in detail, because of course he will.
Also spot on, I just want to see Shinji's because again, one of my favourite characters and also because I thought his inverted world shikai was pretty cool.
Even if Kyoka Suigetsu shit all over it just like so many other things.
Grimmjow could deliver I guess. Kubo had some nice designs when it came to Arrancar. Especially compared to some of Quincy Vollstandig.
You've just made it a hat trick of correctness.
Also, I'd just find it strange for Grimmjow to return without some kind of power up, and that seems like the most likely source.
Especially considering his rivalry with the only arrancar so far to have shown a segunda etapa.
Possibility of seeing Tessai fight with some wicked Kido is what drives me forward.
I kinda gave up on Kido a while ago tbh.
There was so much that could have been done with it, but alas, the only real instances we really got of it being useful were when Hachi used it against Barragan, and when Aizen would casually pull out Black Coffin.

I was genuinely mystified by this until I realised it wasn't me who actually committed this foul.
Phew.

Actually the only part I saw was "Dio got killed" in SomeRandomGuy's post. By accident. It's probably not really plot breaking but it's not that hard to hide it. I just did it right now by coloring the font white!
Oh and SomeRandomGuy, your reasoning sucks balls.
Finally decided to actually sit down and read the events since the timeskip (I´ve skimmed through them every so often since it began). I think the only chapter I´ve ever paid attention since was to the one where Mayuri brought some arrancars back as zombies.
Ok I get it that basically all the characters have the awful custom of telling his powers to their opponents in excruciating detail, but…
Rose, who used to be in my top 5 fave, outright told his foe how to avoid it??!! He´s a massive idiot, dunno if hes alive or dead or alive zombie or dead zombie, but he friggin earned to lose like he did.
Also I am kinda liking the Askin guy except for the stupid comment about women... And really wonder what happened to Hiyori and the other Vizards, did the bird sniper take them or...
Lastly I wanna see Yumichika defeating someone with his real zampakuto, it´s been far too long. Looks like he has no problems using regular kido in front of his squad nowadays so...

The arrancar were simply more interesting altogether. Though I suppose the quincy could be interesting, but kubo just loves to ignore any morally grey areas and paint the bad guys as wholly bad, and the good guys as wholly good.
Possibility of seeing Tessai fight with some wicked Kido is what drives me forward.
Same. I can only hope we get to see that.
We won't. But it would have been awesome.
Tessai palm thrusting that hollow back there was pretty cool.
That Bleach's main problem right now: its plot is completely uninteresting. Everyone is still reading hoping to see their favorite characters reveal their shikai/bankai/resurrección, but nobody gives a damn to what happens to the plot or where the story is going, nobody even bothers trying to theorize about anything because no one cares. And since the interest relies completely on your favorite characters being there fighting, the reader couldn't care less about Bleach when those characters are not there. The reactions before, while and after Mayuri was fighting show how the manga is completely dependent on its characters.
If an Arrancar or a Visored doesn't join the fights against Askin and Gerard, I can see I will read the next 15 chapters simply out of obligation and complaining about it the whole time.
^All true points. There hasn't been an end-game, a final "goal" for everything. Sure the worlds will go to shit if Bach wins, but the tension of this has been so….deattached from what's going on. Everyone's just running around, fighting. So much so that we jump for brief joy when an overlooked character finally gets some screentime, but then Kubo rolls the dice and picks someone else to focus on.
As much as the whole Aizen business had an anti-climatic ending, it had pretty stellar build-up. This....did not.

Tessai doesn't mess around. Such a rare quality with Bleach characters.

I don't even read bleach for the characters any more. The amount of time and energy I've invested into this manga, I want to see it through to the end.

That's essentially where a friend and I are, with a dash of mockery via review videos on YouTube, such as calling Lille Baro "Tweety Baro" and reading his dialogue in the corresponding voice (though I think I end up more Tontatta than Tweety)
How many actual characters are even in Bleach? And I mean actual characters, not mopey-looking cardboard cutouts.
