@moud:
it'd be great to see luffy prove himself in a one on one with jack but i really don't see them fighting , as long as luffy , law and zoro are in the same place i don't see how jack will become a threat , if they gang up on him it's over specially that there isn't anyone under him who can keep zoro and law busy as far as we know
imo he's going down as a subordinate not a main villain probably by someone other than luffy while luffy takes care of a bigger head
I disagree. I had my doubts but I've finally come around to the idea that Jack will make a return to Zou and be the final arc opponent.
Think about it. Oda has given his reader's reasons to detest Jack by showing what he only described before with the torture of the minks and the use of poison gas. To not see Jack defeated in the same place of his victims like pretty much every other foe Luffy has beaten would also be unusual for Oda. Which is more satisfying, to see Jack going down now or someplace where he doesn't have the name of tormenter like a hideout or worse as a henchmen? Luffy also has taken an interest in Jack as seen with how he reacts to Wanda and listening to what happened in the flashback, he even commented on how strange it was for one like to Jack to work for someone else (and note this is rare for Luffy because he often doesn't pay attention to this stuff like with Nami's story or the Fishman Island flashback).
Plus Oda has provided reasons for Jack to return. I don't believe that Jack left because of Doflamingo's defeat, I think it was because of Caesar (see chapter 692 with the brokers page, one of the men says to inform Jack) and he only attacked the marine caravan to learn where to find the mad scientist (add to the fact the subordinates might have caught a glimpse of Kin'emon while watching Punk Hazard and that only gives him more motive). Somehow, Sheepshead will find him and update him on what happened. If he wants somehting, he'll do everything to obtain it to the point of madness (as shown when he attacked the convoy that had three strong marine officers on it and persistently tortured the minks for someone theyf didn't have).
Finally, Jack's probably been really injured from his fight with Sengoku, Fujitora, and Tsuru, so Oda has a believable reason for him to lose Luffy. And yet, he's still credible as a threat. The mere fact Jack lived through that while sinking two marine ships, and fought for five days and nights straight without taking a break already makes him dangerous. Inuarashi didn't say he was more than a monster because he was a wimp. If anything, I'd say it's a little too early for such a high ranking commander of one of the emperror's to go down (story-wise), but I can still accept it.
And if Jack won't be the villain here, then who? Nekomamushi has become less capable in sufficing that role. He's injured (and there's no hint he has a replacement arm when we haven't seen Inuarshi with a new leg), we just saw him get tortured, and he had a friendly moment with Bepo. Ergo, we're suppose to like him, so there's no emotional fulfillment at seeing Luffy take him out. I still think his comments about Wano, what has happened in the Mokmo Dukedom, and more means trouble will occur when Kin'emon and Kanjuro finally make it on the elephant's back with him leading the charge, in which case it will be like Water Seven when the La-Galley workers thought the Strawhats tried to kill Iceberg or Fishman Island when the residents believed the Strawhats were kidnappers and conforming to the idea of bad humans. But that's different. He and Inuarashi need to renew their friendship with each other.
Oda's provided Jack with pretty much everything he needs to be the big bad here. He has a connection to Zou and has done wrong to it and its people that we hate him for, and he has a reason to return. The only questions I have are related to this are Sanji and Caesar's whereabouts. We'll probably get our answer in chapter 811.
The presences of Law and Zoro doesn't change anything and is unimportant in comparison to everything else I've said. If you need a solution, remember that Jack took the majority of his subordinates with him when he left Zou. That means there's plenty of mooks that could have still survived to serve as enemies for them and the other Strawhat and Heart pirates (if they need one). Besides, Oda writes Zoro as one who knows better than to get involved in someone else as fight. He doesn't interfere in any of Luffy's fights.
