Assuming Voyage Four doesn't get unexpectedly delayed, which is unlikely at this point, that will be seven voyage sets released by FUNimation in 2015, and that's super cool.

Unless you mean the whole act of critiquing a cover at all, I'm not sure I'm being too nitpicky. I mean, it's a pretty clear and obvious error. What's strange about it isn't just that Bon Clay breaks the borders, but that the monster's arm/elbow (right above Mr. 3) and Mr. 3's foot also breaks out, so I really have no idea why they randomly decided to start cutting off Mr. 3's body. It almost looks like someone drew a white box on top of the image in Windows Paint. It's just a strange mistake worth mentioning; no one's getting angry about it or anything.
It's still a good cover, but when I see it, clear errors stick out and the freedom of the internet and everyone discussing their opinions on the cover allows me to point out these errors.
Honestly, in the history of this thread and it's previous incarnations, that people almost search for reasons to criticize Funimation for their efforts. So I find myself almost hypersensitive to them being criticized unjustly when they can't defend themselves. In this case, I find that I think I may have misinterpreted the criticism after taking a closer look at the cover. I did not notice previously that they allowed Bon Clay and the creature to spillover, while at the same time Mr. 3 did not. Justified criticism. Tenchi in Toyko, anyone?
@Long:
I'm introducing my younger sibling to one piece through the dub and its apparent how much better colleen has gotten as luffy, excellent line here.
I'm going to make some enemies here, but quite frankly, Colleen outdoes Mayumi Tanaka. Mayumi is, in my opinion, often too high to make it a believable male voice. Granted, Colleen gets a little too high sometimes, but not as much as Mayumi.
Yeah Colleen took a while go to get past the raspiness I think, which helps a lot. Like, she wasn't bad in season 3 and even seasons and 2 but by the time season 4 finishes and especially into season 5 and 6, she really brings her own unique take to Luffy's personality that works better. Some of the attacks are still raspy naturally but his comedic scenes sound great to me and are overall how I'd imagine Luffy in English.
Unless I'm misremembering, the raspiness was actually a request/requirement by Toei.
-
Agreed on Colleen as superior. I don't think I've ever heard that raspiness claim, though; don't think it's true.

Is Rightstuf reliable/what's the shipping costs?
EDIT: It also says out of Stock, Is it still available but there will be a waiting period?
-
It's been months(like Feb) since I last posted, I've been so behind on One Piece dvd's. Finally caught up yesterday and ordered s6 v2-4 and s7 v1-3 and film z on blu-ray. Will order voyage 4 when I finish watching. Hope I don't get that behind again!

The best arc in One Piece for ten dollars is a steal.

It's true, Colleen's said it a few times in commentaries and stuff. One time in particular I remember hearing it is her On the Boat segment.
-
That's strange. Must've forgotten.
Speaking of commentaries, I just listened to the first one on voyage three. It had the three Sabaody actresses/actors- Margaret and her friends. Really bad commentary; they were just talking about random shit for the whole time. Hoping the other two features are more entertaining or informative..

I'm sure once we start getting McFarland-directed episodes again, the commentaries will also be directed by him.

Reminder that the first batch of Impel Down episodes are available for FUNimation subscribers tomorrow (though they'll probably be delayed several hours like last time.)
-
Can't wait! Finally going to watch the final Whereabouts episode tonight. Talk about good rationing. Looking forward to Perona and MiHawk's return.
-
So the new dubbed episodes are up now believe it or not.
-
I'm watching episode 423 and I hate how ace revealed they had two different fathers. that was the biggest twist when it was revealed on marineford:(

oh no he revealed it already???, why would the dub do that, i haven't got chance the view the episodes yet

did They reveal who the father was, because the fact that they have two different fathers is not the real twist there.
-

well that was a huge twist for me, because Ace and Luffy looked so much alike
-

The dialogue goes like this:
“Our fathers..to hell with them!”
“We both got the blood of criminals flowing through our veins and that was the only gift those bastards ever gave us”It’s still relatively vague…but probably should have been vaguer

oh well thats not too bad
-
Now I need to decide whether to watch the episodes now when finals are on the horizon, or I could wait until the next set comes out during break and marathon them both…
Yeah, it's unfortunate that plot twist was revealed early. I was also surprised about their different fathers, because I also thought Luffy and Ace looked so similar.
-
i still hope it turns out that Luffy and Ace are cousins or something when Luffy mom is revealed :p
-
so they decided to give the amigo pirates accents and it is pretty awesome.

I would have been surprised if they didn't do that. Also it was cool to see Scott McNeil reprise his Shiki role, even if it was relatively brief
-
okay, Jimbe voice sounds really good. I think its a great fit for the character. also It is great to hear buggy's voice again.
-
Wow Funimation spoiling the plot twist from a future arc is almost a 4 kids level screw up
Hell the manga reads it as we both have the blood of a criminal in our veins
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
did They reveal who the father was, because the fact that they have two different fathers is not the real twist there.
Disagree, in hindsight it would be like oh yeah they're like brothers but before oda revealed it a lot of people were taking brothers at face value.
BTW does ace still have his original dub actor and does he sound any different if so
-
did They reveal who the father was, because the fact that they have two different fathers is not the real twist there.
Yeah sure that wasn't the biggest twist but at that point i guess all of us thought they had the same father.
-
so far i have only watched episode 422, i hated they changed Garp from saying the fist of love to a real beating, he also didnt say thats my grandson when bragging about Luffy, a change i am glad they made and i hope it sticks while minor is they said Granddad as opposed to Grandpa, become most americans i know say Granddad
-
I don't think I know anyone who says granddad; it's typically grandpa, or sometimes grandfather. Also, use a period once in a while instead of just commas, that took me three times to read it the way you meant it.
-
Can't wait to hear Jimbei's voice! What episode is that?
-

430. Also his voice actor is Daniel Baugh, and this appears to be his first major role with Funimation.
-
yes i love it when they bring on new VAs
-

SCOTT'S BACK?!!?
Yatta!
-
Listened to Jinbei. It's weird. His first line is really gruff and raspy, but he drops that after his first introduction. Then the actor delivers his lines in this sort of stilted way that's intentional (part of Jinbei's formality), but I'm not sure he pulls it off. Any thoughts on it?
And once they moved past the introductory gruff voice, which was strange to have, his normal voice sounds pretty good. Will have to get used to the stilted delivery. "I don't want to be a….... Warlord."
-
I wonder if they're basing the English voice for Jimbei off of Daisuke Gori, who was MUCH deeper, or Jimbei's second seiyuu, who wasn't nearly as deep.
-
I really like his normal voice. I found it a little bit of too when I saw his first scene, but when you see the later scenes with him, he really doesn't have that stilted delivery that much.
-
I don't think anything was revealed prematurely. Luffy's father was revealed long ago and the context of the conversation was meant to establish different biological fathers.
As for the rest of the set, I found myself rather pleased after the problems of previous sets. Joel appears to be getting better. I find myself not worrying as much about him directing Marineford, if it comes to that. I had no gripes with any of the new casting, and the older roles making new appearances sound as if they hadn't taken a break from those roles.
-
^^^It was so great to hear/see some of these characters again. As cool as the introduction of characters like Jimbei, Ivankov and the Impel Down staff is, the return of characters like Bon Clay and Buggy is just as exciting. So its good to see that there weren't any notable problems getting the actors back (though I wasn't too worried about that) or having them readjust to their roles (unlike some of the Boss Luffy episodes where some of the voices sounded off).
-
loving the episodes so far,and felt that jinbei was properly cast. i have no idea why people (2) are getting upset about the whole brothers thing, and wouldn't necessarily call it a flub, now if they revealed that one BIG twist, that'd be another thing. i fished out my manga pertaining to the scene in question and it is slightly more vague about the connection, but nothing too big was revealed either. the only reason its more obvious is because 90% have seen/read the material that proceeds it. the anime only watchers are certainly not going to pick up on it anytime soon.

the wordplay in japanese in sufficiently different in that until it's revealed who ace's father is many assumed it would be dragon who would make an appearance
I mean Ivankov's shock and premonitions about his supposed son being executed led credence to that belief.
It just feels like they didnt put enough work into the translation and how it was supposed to be phrased.
I mean if dragon name dropped that luffy is his son in loguetown like funimation for instance said " a pirate eh son " would it really change much before the garp reveal, the brunt of that reveal wasnt that dragon was luffy's dad but that he was the head of an all powerful organization.
-

Ooooh, a new talent for everyone's favorite fishman?
-
Pretty sure I was just charged for the new set so we should see them shipping soon. Luckily I paid for two day shipping this time because Impel Down is great (despite the pacing problems of course). THOUGH I can't watch them until I finish my class so my money was probably wasted. :ninja:
It's hard to believe we'll hit the time skip in a couple years or so here.
-
I can't believe how far we've gotten. It will be very surreal when I watch Marineford in an English dub.
-
Sat through most of the new dubbed episodes.
I must say I'm really happy Travis still finds the time to record lines for Ace when not only he is LA based, but is pretty much a AAA voice actor at this point. Wasn't too hot on Jimbe's performance at first, but he quickly grew on me.
I also love the Impel Down's executives voices, especially Sadi hmmmmmm. Hearing Shiryu in english is gonna be so fantastic once it happens.
-
Not that it matters, since the episodes are online, but my season 7 voyage 4 set, shipped today. Looks like Funimation is back on track, in terms of getting stuff out on time.
-

Aww so the two filler episodes going to be taking up episode slots of Marineford
-
Ended up watching all the episodes today. The only complaint I'd say I have with the entire set is that Yoko's VA sounds like she's trying to voice a young teenage boy, rather than a young girl; but seeing as that's filler anyhow, I'm not really inclined to care too much. I really liked Brad Jackson as Hannyabal. And I of course really enjoyed the performances of Buggy, Mr. 3, and Mr 2. So much nostalgia with this set.

to be honest i had forgotten just how awesome Mr.2 was. It sucks that this may be the last arc we ever see him again
