So they were partying before even knowing what happened to Sanji and the corpse was only Brook.
I think I need to take a break from One Piece, I dont simply enjoy it anymore and only see major narrative flaws.

Except he wasn't as we know Jack is still alive.
I didn't say he isn't. In fact, I keep on saying that he's not dead. Only the possibility that he may not be Zou's big bad (and that Sanji might have already defeated him before Luffy's arrival).

They found out that Sanji had left a note in between this chapter and the last one, shown by Luffy and Zoro. Since Nami didn't mention Brook, they must have worked he was alright. It's not really a narrative flaw
I'd say he's more like wapol than krieg xD
How do you figure? Krieg's whole deal was all about having tons of weapons on his body and lots and lots of crew members, and Capone's whole body is filled with weapons and military manpower. While Wapol ate stuff and transfigured it into weapons.

They already knew Sanji left, leaving a note behind.
I went back to look at the RAWs from previous chapters and what Wanda says is "仲間の死体" (nakama no shitai). So there was nothing there hinting it was plural.
I don't speak japanese, but from the little I got from all this time reading manga, I would assume 仲間の死体 could be translated as both "corpse of your friend" and "corpse friend" (a friend who is a corpse) so I think the play on words actually works.
The problem is, as many said, it was not properly done. Why would Wanda say they should go there because Brook was there? Not because their "friends" was there, but Brook and Brook alone?
This is a pattern in One Piece, someone gets separated from (or abandons) the crew and then the next arc revolves around that crewmember.
It happened with Nami, Robin, and Luffy. So if Enies Lobby was Robin's Arc, Marineford/Goa was Luffy's Arc, and Arlong Park was Nami's Arc, the next Arc if not this one is going to be Sanji's Arc.
Which is great because we're going to learn a lot about Sanji's background

The arc is setting up a return of Jack, so that's unlikely.

Visiting this One Piece themed forum sure does help.

Apparently they got the gist of it before they started partying. But I feel you.
This kind of flashback where someone is asking a person to "tell them again what happened from the beginning" feels so forced and unimaginative.
One minor thing that striked me as odd. Franky sees Brook. "Hey Brook, good to see you." I'll stay reserved until there's a better translation, but I gotta say, playing it cool much Franky?

Because Brook is on the mind of every dog mink out there, apparently.

This is the first time there was a separation inside of another separation, if I'm not mistaken.
But it would make sense Sanji gets his spotlight now, seeing how Wano arc has ZORO written all over it.
I just noticed the dog mink giving paw to usopp as he was gesturing
those minks are fun
also funny how oda trolling us by letting wanda call brook baron corpse, is kinda similar to how bepo and co got confused because luffy kept calling law "torao"
My hopes and dreams of Kaido's top commanders having the same ancient zoan DF's as the original power rangers line up's zords comes a step closer.
Pterodactyl - ???
Mastodon - Jack
Triceratops - ???/Zoro's opponent?
Sabre-Toothed Tiger - ???
Tyrannosaurus - Drake
Didnt think of Powerrangers, but i too thought having only ancient zoans as kaidos commanders would be really great.
So 2 kings that rule the kingdom, huh?
Day king Dog-Storm or Dog-Porcupine…guess: Wanda is related(probably daughter)
Night king Cat-Viper or Cat-Venom...guess Pedro is related(probably king)
will someone put a timeline probably in the 1st post of this thread? too much happened from different chapters. it's so easy to get zoro (lost).
Oda should rename this chapter "Beat around the bush". Because there is a lot of half truths and lazy explanations being given all around and all I got from it is that Wano and Zou have beef , probably the most useful information to come out of this chapter.
Otherwise the chapter was one big unnecessary beating around the bush about Sanji's status. Maybe it's just Panda's trash translation but do we even know what exactly happened to him?
Honestly the best part of the chapter was the cover story. Really loved seeing that Zoro has such an impact on the swordsman world. Brooke's reappearance is a close second.

No translation can be that bad. This chapter's pacing was bad. This is one time where I wish Oda would have sacrificed fight scenes to spill more story appropriately.
Funny that Minks won't eat meat of other mammals but the meat Luffy is eating, it looks like boar meat so do Minks cook mammal meat for humans to eat?

Nami told Luffy what happend off-screen, that is why Luffy knew about the note, so he knew what happened already and he trusts Sanji, just like he trusted Sanji and Zoro in Sabaody to take care of their groups, if it was one of the girls or Usopp/Chopper, he would have a different reaction.

I'm surprised people didn't like th is chapter I really enjoyed it, we got an explanation how they ran from big mom, how the minks society works, how they got saved(or at least half of it) and we got confirmation Jack is a mammoth Zoan, plus Minks apparently now hating on Wano because Zou was attacked due to Raizou hiding there.
Luffy: "Hey, don't be so mad, Zoro! You're being rude to the people that are taking such good care of us!"
Do as he says, Zoro. Remember the last time Luffy was angry about how you treated his hosts?
@uniaka:
Just random coincidence, but Dragon summoned all revolutionary leaders around the world. Guess who could be one and he left a letter behind to say he is on a mission.
! Yup, Sanji will play a role in the BB pirates vs Revolutionaries conflict, the only problem is that we will likely not see Sanji for a while maybe he won't even pe present at Wano country after this arc.
I disagree on this. Ivankov is untrusting towards Sanji in giving information to the latter regarding Dragon's Son. (Primarily because there's a 1% chance that Sanji may not be the one indicated in his own Wanted Poster)
Why would Ivankov allow Sanji to meet Dragon when he (or she) wouldn't even allow Sanji to meet Luffy?
Dense chapter.
And, Sanji is…....
Let’s party!!! Woohooo X(

Nami can just knock them both out if that happens again. lol
I mean honestly, this chapter was full of just classic One Piece stuff that I absolutely love, but Sanji being cliffhanged a second chapter is just annoying at this point. Please Oda, STAWHP!!! So for the good parts:
neutral:
The Samurai stuff, I'm not sure what to think about it anymore. It's been a really long buildup in their part of the story and their importance to Kaidou has been a veiled mystery for some reason. It better be a mindblowing reveal in the end.
negative:
-Oda insist on clinging onto this Sanji shit. It's not funny anymore. I don't think any reveal would be satisfactory, it would be more like ''okay good, now he's back, finally, can we get a move on?

?
So the only thing you got is probably wrong?
Otherwise the chapter was one big unnecessary beating around the bush about Sanji's status. Maybe it's just Panda's trash translation but do we even know what exactly happened to him?
He left on his own volition for unknown reasons. Left a note behind.
So it pretty much confirms that he's fine and doing his own thing somewhere.
What fight scene?
The scuffle between Sanji's group and Big Mom.

It was a nice chapter, but hopped around a lot. Odd pacing.
The scuffle between Sanji's group and Big Mom.
What? You would rather leave it unexplained about how they managed to escape?
My hopes and dreams of Kaido's top commanders having the same ancient zoan DF's as the original power rangers line up's zords comes a step closer.
Pterodactyl - ???
Mastodon - Jack
Triceratops - ???/Zoro's opponent?

Tyrannosaurus - DrakeEnjoyed this chapter overall, even if the corpse trolling was weak and yet again we have concrete information on Sanji pulled away from us.
I await the adventures of Sanji and Caesar with great anticipation though.
The art of the Mastodon at the end of the chapter was awesome.
I think we need an Ankylosaur- and a Raptor-zoan as well, then we have the absolute dreamteam. I'm guessing you want Zoro to fight the Trike-zoan because it has 3 horns?
Good lord, it's gonna be weeks of people fishing out BS reasons about what happen to Sanji, only for Oda to go. "It was this."
I wasn't sure that giant mammoth was actually Jack, because it seems every or almost everyone in Kaido's crew have that Doffy-like black coat, but looking back at Jack's Ship…
!
So yeah it must be him
hmmm after last chapter, I saw many fans thinking it was Sanji that saved the minks but seems this chapter suggests it was "Nami's courage & Chopper's medicine". Nice …in a way, I'm glad Nami is getting recognition for her courage. Bad though that it happened off panel. ... unless Nami finishes her story and we see a flashback. but its more likely we see what happened to Sanji and whatever Nami did isn't shown.
It looked more like the other two to me!
!
So kaido is after momo or raizou after all?
Not coming back to this forum untill next week.
this chapter is weird on so many levels:
3)
- previous chapter: the corpses of your dead comrades
- this chapter: just trolling, I just meant singular and it is a nichkname for Brook who we like to lick.
The issue is that in Japanese there is no plural, so when they refer to, eg., "Your nakama", it is always ambiguous whether they are referring to just one of them or more. It's also ambiguous when they refer to "That person", as Japanese language lacks the distinction between "him" and "her," so often translators use "Him" to only realize weeks later that the author meant "her"
So kaido is after momo or raizou after all?
Well his goons already asked for the Samurai when we saw Sanji group and the Wano people are scared of Kaidou who is most likely a dragon zoan, so yeah kinda of a given.
I am disappointed in this chapter I don't know what Oda was trying to do but it was a total failure, the way wanda mentioned dead comrades and the look on her face in those panels just don't add up to todays reveal. It feels so out of place like Oda made a last minute change to what he had intended so this chapter scores low in my book, the only things I find appealing about the chapter are the mink tribe and the different design and the Sanji mystery everything else about the chapter fails.
So basically, reading haphazard translations has created confusion and misunderstanding and we're better off waiting for a better translation before making major analysis? Shocking, I say!
Shocking, I say!
Everything in the weekly chapters seem to follow a certain ebb and flow. Someone will (claim to atleast) leave the forum because reading weekly makes the nostalgic for the good old days, someone will talk about how Oda has failed as a writer due to how this teeny tiny little slice of a greater story came across to them and someone will always make a moutain out of whatever little plot hole they managed to find.
Then in a year or two, when the arc is read as a whole, it turns out it was pretty good after all.
Night must be dangerous at Zou because of the dusk king and his faction.

Yes, people get disappointed all the time. And in every single chapter that I can remember there is ALWAYS someone disappointed because Oda didn't do what they wanted. The thing about the corpse was predictable, and many pointed out the possibility that she was talking of Brook in the previous forum discussions. As for Sanji, obviously he is not dead… Did anyone really expect that he would be killed? And without a badass fight or any scene? Really, people... Now, Wanda was seriously concerned, and of course Nami was crying too, and Brooke is also apologetic about Sanji, so there is absolutely no doubt that something happened, probably related to Cesar, and undoubtedly related to Sanji's "alive only" bounty reward. Chances are also high that it has something to do with Jack, so we just have to wait and see what it is.
Wow, either that was a bad translation or Oda failed miserably with the whole corpse thing. I mean the dog woman even looked all despondent over it and now apparently she swoons at brook's presence.
Fail.
A mammoth on a giant Elephant is a pretty neat visual.
Is it implied that Jack's zoan form is soo huge that he actually hurt Zou just by being on it? Or why was the island in distress?
Nice to get confirmation on Capone, him joining up with a stronger person makes sense.
So did Sanji go back onto the ship after jumping off and then leave a note. Or did they escape, get to Zou and then he left?
Him leaving the crew behind on an unknown island doesn't gel because as of that moment he was more or less the acting captain of the crew and Sanji is too responsible to leave those guys behind on whim.
The only thing that makes sense is that he left the note before the counterattack and he's actually on Big Mum's ship. It would explain why Nami was crying because they left Sanji in the enemies hands.
Not sure how to feel about the fact that the Swirly hats had their own off screen mini arc. Although its funny that the rest got there in time for the end of arc feast.
I'm guessing we won't see another feast in 3-4 years after this.
So basically, reading haphazard translations has created confusion and misunderstanding and we're better off waiting for a better translation before making major analysis? Shocking, I say!
We were meant to think something bad (or at least worse than partying for a week) happened to SH. It was author's intention regardless of how bad the fast translations are.
What's shocking is that some people would blame confusion on MP/MS completely rather than admitting Oda added some cheap suspsense.

Yup, like people looking back and now making a big deal about Wanda's friendly behavior in contrast to "They shall receive no mercy" when she was actually just talking about what might happen to Luffy for entering the Forbidden forest before she could get a hold of her comrades. And that her pensive behavior is only in regards to Sanji. Combination of bad translations and misinterpreting stuff because they don't know because they don't know what's gonna happen next.

They avoided Big Mom already. We saw him on Zo in chapter 795. If he is in a Emperor ship, its Kaido.
Is it implied that Jack's zoan form is soo huge that he actually hurt Zou just by being on it? Or why was the island in distress?
Maybe it was because he destroyed the whole city, and crucified a bunch of people to get info about the ninja? Geez, I wonder why they're in distress….

We already saw him in a previous chapter fighting in Zou against some people from Jack's crew…

16 chars of pretty much.

Note the people on the island but the giant elephant itself. We get a panel of it trumpeting in what I assume is pain or maybe anger?
With the hate minks have for samurais and Raizou, I expect them to get in trouble when they climb Zou. Maybe the night king and the ones Lufyy had a fight with will attack Kinemon and Kanjuro at night( wanda did imply at night it's bad). Maybe they even captured raizou to make him pay because it's his fault for the jack events. Luffy and co will have to defend them and maybe fight the guardians.
And a King that has the name ''vipercat'' can't be a nice guy:ninja:
