Since I bsically shut off my brain every time Kubo tries to do "science!!!!", I actually found the chapter to be pretty good, and so far, this fight has far exceeded my expectations. I mean, it has choreography! Backgrounds! Property damage! Movement! An attempt at family drama! Giant hands with giant eyes! And. . .Mayuri dying? or Nemu dying? Wathever it is, I gotta say, this fight alone ass rapes and destroys everything that came before it for the past. . .4 years? 5?

Another fun chapter for Bleach. The fact it isn't over yet gives me something to look forward next week.
I have to say, I thought Mayuri was scared for a different reason with Pernida. He made the observation that anyone hit by the nerves could allow Pernida to evolve. Seeing how Mayuri had got hit, I thought he was worried that Pernida would have the same intellect as him. That right there would be a scary thought.
Also, the spread with the three hands over the battlefield is the best looking panel I've seen for years. It gave me chills and was really cool just to look at.
-
Honestly I think this fight is the best Bleach has been in years
-
Pernida hasn't even used his Vollstandig yet. Mayuri is screwed.
-
Never explain are you planning to do before finishing because it will always fail at the end.
-
An enjoyable chapter.
-
I had forgotten about the hojikuzai drug. Also:
Since mayuri's lolscience created the super medicine that can regrow limbs and organs in a matter of seconds, why even have the 4th division? They're completely useless in light of this wonder drug.
Yeah kubo's finally stepping up his game. The next thread title should be something like 3D maneuver gear can suck it, or rocket boots are cool.
-
You know, all of deal about pulling something to counter each other powers reminds me of Yhwach fight against the monk.
-
@Daz:
"Kubo, I'm sorry, but I have no choice but to give you an F in biology"
"What? But surely nerves coagulate blood into a black membrane that freezes you solid!"remembers Rukia's Bankai
So yeah, this chapter was nuts. Mayuri's tactics are starting to not be effective and holy crap that last Nemu face.

Something was wrong, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
It seems the situations has gotten out of hand and Mayuri isn't able to hand-le it.
Even with Nemu lending a hand, he treated her with a heavy-hand, but he might regret that.
Anyway, this guy is a hand full, and it will take a lot more for Mayuri to gain the upper hand and nail Pernida once and for all.Hand.

Aizen hasn't even used his Bankai yet. Ichigo is screwed.

"Since when did you think I had a Voll-" how long can we milk this joke? lol

When were you under the impression that this joke was being milked to death?
-
Speaking of Zaraki, I guess he will save both Mayuri and Nemu next chapter, no way he is done for good.
-
Honestly I think this fight is the best Bleach has been in years
You know, I think I'll agree to that.
Due to the simple realization that if Mayuri died next week, I think it'd actually provoke an emotional response from me.
Beyond annoyance, boredom and incredulous amusement, I mean.

Honestly, Ishida really should kill Mayuri. The dude fucking deserves to die, Ishida has a reason to hold a massive grudge against him, and Ishida is actually against Soul Society again so no bullshit but we're allies now
-

Basically, this.
I'm kinda. . .how to say it. . .hmmm. . .mildly interested in what's gonna happen next week.
But that can't be right. This is Bleach. . .
-
I really cringed at the
"You always take some drugs when flying off into battle, and happened to forget this one time when the fate of the world is at stake."
line. For one, how often does Mayuri stomp off into battle anyway? Secondly, his suuuuuper shit-eating response ("that's creepy that you would observe me, I'm the one who's supposed to be overbearing over YOU"). Again, it's faintly amazing that the good guy here has zero good qualities whatsoever
-
Considering that it was revealed that quincis are spirit Nazis, mayuri killing them doesn't bother me that much anymore. Sure he's a monster, but if he killed proto gremmy. And proto fear guy and proto zombie gal/dude then whatever.
-
I want to be impressed by the fact that the character making Mayuri sweat isn't some Haschwaldt-esque boring ass bishie, but fucking giant disembodied arms with eyes are just too distractingly bizarre and feel really out of place. Are we sure this series' aesthetic isn't six different series jumbled together?
-
I enjoyed this chapter.
I actually enjoyed a chapter of Bleach from start to finish and is genuinely interested in seeing what'll happen next.
Is the world ending or something?
-

This kind of freak show is not suited for dumb muscle like him, proved by how much he screwed up in the beginning. Hope he just stays down like a meat bag that he is until the fight is over.
The chapter is getting better, but I'm afraid we're up for some outrageous conclusion for this fight..
-
Aizen hasn't even used his Bankai yet. Ichigo is screwed.
Aizen didn't use bankai because he transcended the realm of shinigami and hollow. Had he used it would have been an an assault on his own pride. Pernida shouldn't have any such reservations since it's proudly a Quincy and we've already seen it use Vollstandig before.
Anyway guys; how the hell to Ouetsu manage to kill this thing the first time? lol
-

Just remember you're talking about a guy who turned a meteor into bunch of cinders with his Shikai. That's probably the main reason why he was hit with a dumb stick at the start of the fight.

Hmm…..someone out BSing Mayuri, that sounds interesting.
-
Wonder of a chapter. I really have forgotten this captain battles like in Hueco Mundo and Ken is going to end this.
-

You tell us, Louis XD
I don't remember much about his zanpakto myself other than it's so absurdly sharp that no ordinary sheath can wrap it. Maybe it's also poisonous or something?Just remember you're talking about a guy who turned a meteor into bunch of cinders with his Shikai. That's probably the main reason why he was hit with a dumb stick at the start of the fight.
Because… let's face it. Had Zaraki been the one fighting Pernida up to this chapter, we wouldn't have gotten this much level of amusement.
-
If kempachi has been fighting pernida this would look more like a field of giant hands vs kenpachi, who still is trying to cut it out, probably after cutting a leg turned ground beef.
-

Gremmy was most likely on par with Elite or very close to their power(as they are now).
Lately I must say that entire arc became more enjoyable - not only chapters that we are getting in last dozen of week but this arc in general.
Feels like everything up till Bach latest SK upgrade was buildup for what we are getting now.As for Nemu - number 7 is by many seen as number of perfection so its also connects to Myuris speach from Hueco Mundo.
I do wonder what kind of ability she has - Mayuris creation(cold, I know) cannot be vice captain without Shikai so we will most likely see it shown off during next chapter.
Also it was unclear for me how Pernida using Myuris bankai upgraded itself - it simply became faster than Mayuri so it was able to catch him ???
-

I think she can turn her arm into a drill? I think she done that in Hueco Mundo. As for his Zanpakuto…Well, I don't think Kubo feel obliged for show every major shinigami character use it.
@Watch-man:Also it was unclear for me how Pernida using Myuris bankai upgraded itself - it simply became faster than Mayuri so it was able to catch him ???
It seems like Pernida also has an information based counter technique BS.
-

Yes but… wouldn't that would be logical? And wouldn't that be well... good writing... and since when were you under the impression that Bleach had good writing? Think about it.
-
Mayuri can still get killed by Ishida afterwards.
Kubo has been pretty hesitant in killing main cast, so far, but I think it's inevitable that some of the people up there will die.
I might want to edit this post in the future with: "Or so I thought…"

Is Mayuri main cast though? Kubo has killed Yamamoto's vice captain, umm…blonde guy with pointy hair and weight increase sword. He killed "original" Kenpachi and he killed Shrimpo. He doesn't seem that hesitant his characters except Bakuya for whatever reason.
-
he killed Shrimpo.
Was this confirmed? Since Hitsugaya is a ratings jump for Kubo.

Wasn't that the conditions for that one Quincy to create zombies from Shinigami specifically? I dunno. Kubovcould undo it, but he was also taken out by Mayuri too. If he comes back it's probably going to be a reveal along with the Fullbringers.
-
a reveal along with the Fullbringers.
The idea of this being a cliffhanger…...urgh.
Not really because of Hitsugaya, but the Fullbringers. I wager this arc has....well, how many chapters left, and already we've gotten to Aizen returning (where is he again?), Bach in ultimate uber mode (what is he doing again?)....what could the Fullbringers even do besides torturing the readers? Die to demonstrate power? Have half-assed redemptions?
Oh lord if Kubo makes Aizen, Tsukishima, and Bach all cross paths, I will have to turn off my brain for the rest of this manga.

(Yeah yeah, mangareader I know)
The wording is a bit confusing. "Made into a zombie before you died" may be interpreted has "I transformed you before your body shut down for good" or "I transformed you while you were still alive, and because of that, you still live".
Kubo can pull whatever he wants in this. Either way doesn´t contradict what he previously stated.

Gremmy could come back too. The BS is limitless!
Thanks for the link SpaceCowboy.

Seems Kubo has abandoned twitter for unexplained reasons.

Seriously what the fuck could those assholes do to help? the same with Chad, Orihime, and Ganju. why bring these obviously underpowered characters along? I can't imagine them actually being of any use. Before the reveal that pernida is the left hand of god, i had the theory going that Chad had the soul king's left arm and that was the reason he was there. but now?
-
Seems Kubo has abandoned twitter for unexplained reasons.
Alot of people are assuming that it's because he knows he is going to fuck something up soon and he don't want to bite the bullet. But these people have obviously not read Bleach for the past 2 years, because he has been fucking up forever. I strongly doubt Kubo cares about such things, because otherwise he wouldn't have produced all of this nonsense for all this time.
-
I had a thought: what if Kubo decides to drag out bleach for ANOTHER few years?
-
remembers something
Oh, right!Back in march at chapter 617, I asked people how much more Bleach they thought was left before the end; we're at 641 now, so lets see how we're coming along.
Daz: 90 chapters, 707 end, 66 to go
Detectivekillua: 83 chapters, 700 end, 59 to go
King Cannon: 43 chapters, 660 end, 19 to go
Kouch Lee: 70 chapters, 687 end, 46 to go
Metamario: 68 chapters 685 end, 44 to goIf I've forgotten anyone, let me know, I felt like there were more…
-
Oh my guess is the lowest? x)
Well this will add some interest. How many chapters does Kubo have left~?
-
Naw, as far as I could see, King Cannon was the most pessimistic (optimistic?) one
-
Ah, right, missed that number there.
Still exciting, because really, it seems like Kubo can either fast forward to the end or drag stuff out some more. There's dangling plot threads (Fullbringers, Uryu and his family, soul tickets, unseen Bankais, etc.), but then again…...some got crammed together, like Kenpachi's past and Unohana's past.
-
That estimate of Ch. 700 seems like a reasonable guess to me.
-
Don't see how everything left could be crammed in 59 chapters without cutting some serious corners.
This Pernida business has been going around for 7 chapters now. It will probably get to around 10 at least. And there are still 6 bad guys remaining, not counting in more possible enemies to fight, like that Aizen fellow or past Quincy revivals and shit.
Add in some flashbacks, talking, exposition, banter, padding, big panels, page-panels and there's no way in hell it can end at chapter 700.
Well, that's assuming Kubo maintains something resembling quality all the way through. Like no offpanelings or surprise Auswahlen, forgotten characters, build up that goes nowhere, Kubo-breakdown, hiatus which is anything but, etc…
-
In before the Royal Guard show up as enemies after the elite sternritter.
-
Chapter 700 does seem like a "neat" place to end (ignoring that the manga is actually 12 chapters ahead of the current number, due to Kubos nonsense numbering conventions of Turn Back the Pendulum), but then again….

yeah…now that it became appearant that fighting just 1 elite sternritter would take at least 7 chapters, and that we are appearantly due at least two more Soul king Limbs, I'm starting to doubt even my 707 ending guess. I mean, we need several more rounds of reinforcements (Isshin, Ryuuken, Fullbringers YAY), and with flashbacks and backstabs and everything Ishida alone can take 10+ chapters. I mean, if we can spend 5 straight weeks on the amazing friendship of Quincy Mohawk Renji (or is it Quincy Mohawk Grimmjow?) and quincy Ulqorriora, Kubo can pull anything at this point.
Personally, I'm still waiting for Bach to pull out the Flaming Fight-Extending Skeleton Horde.
