lol True. But we can always ask about other anime behind the scenes?
lol all the power to you but i doubt they cough up anything substantial

well even if FUNi doesn't announce anything for a while, the merchandise is at least getting a jump on future arcs (just a few pieces to note):
The typical overseas merchandise that Funimation puts their stamp of approval on.
The Law notebook might have been made in Japan or another Eastern Asia country, just going off of the grammatical errors.
One Piece Collection 14 is 22.99 on Amazon right now.

I can always ask my sister to write down the notes just in case there's some subliminal messages in the talks. I can't go exposed some shit without it breaking the code of conduct. I don't wanna get people fired. So I'll ask them some stuff about how many Americans buy One Piece in drones. What the ratings have something to do with them getting more seasons now that it's on toonami. And the clickbait articles that try to damage control on the series alone?
Gotta wait until October 8th on a Thursday to find out?

yup that is right, while i love Dragon Ball i hope that is not all they talk about lol
Let's just hope Funimation can get all/most of the original voice actors back for the Impel Down and Marineford arcs. Quite a lot of characters are about to return to One Piece, some of whom have not been seen in hundreds of episodes.

As far as I know, John Swasey (Crocodile), Barry Yandell (Bon Clay) and Duncan Brannan (Mr. 3) all still reside in Texas and will be able to reprise their roles. I'm not sure about where John Gremillion (Mihawk) or Brett Weaver (Mr. 1) live these days, or the actors for the Marines who reappear after long hiatuses like Hina and Jango for that matter. Travis Willingham (Ace) lives in LA now, but he came back for the Blackbeard fight so he shouldn't be an issue. Just thinking of the logistical nightmare of getting all these actors in the booth for these upcoming episodes makes you appreciate people in charge of scheduling at Funimation.

John Gremillion recently played D, in the Vampire D OAV dub for Sentai films. So at the very least that confirms he still does voice acting work in the Texas area.

That's good to hear! I love his Mihawk.

I'm pretty sure that most of the VA's working on One Piece knew going in that it would be for the long haul. It may even be in their contracts for the roles.

Not true, if fact there's already been a few recasts. Coby and Helmeppo for example are now voiced by different people.
Didn't their voices change to suit their new looks?
Didn't their voices change to suit their new looks?
It was only a maximum of a few months in the story. Their voices wouldn't actually have changed (and rightfully didn't in the Japanese dub).
They were likely just unable to get the voice actors back into the studio.
Coby and Helmeppo were a different situation. Why Coby was changed, I don't know. It is likely it was because of his drastically different appearance. Who knows? Maybe they did try his original VA and decided it just didn't work. As far as helmeppo, wasn't there some sort of conflict between Troy Baker and Funimation?

It was a Toonami article about how One Piece didn't click on America. I don't wanna derailed the site. So suffice to say, it's not important right now. lol

I think Troy Baker does union-only work now.
Regarding recasts, does Yasopp have any lines in Marineford? Because if so, he's definitely getting recast considering Scott Freeman's situation…
Troy Baker only voiced Helmeppo in Episode 2 and 3 and was recasted afterwards because he's not doing anime work anymore.
I believe it was Mike's decision to give Coby an older voice to match his more mature look despite the timeframe only being a few months.

Leah Clark did the voice of a filler character a couple episodes later, so it was probably a deliberate choice on their part.

Yeah i read that article. If one piece keeps staying above 600k viewers it will stay on toonami. Funimation releasing further episodes dubbed for home video release has nothing to do with one piece failing on toonami and we all know that.

Yeah! It's almost similar to the mainstream news. Always writing about depressing articles about sad stuff. The article put me in a mood that almost made me rage quit the Internet for 7 years.
I later on clam down a bit and catch some Zzz's but other than that. I need some food.

Just saying anyone is capable of being recast. If anything I wouldn't be shocked if each group of voice actors are contracted to appear in all of the episodes their character appears in that Funimation currently has liscenesed. They mostly likely have to sign a new contract once Funmation picks up new episodes and their character returns.
I'm not saying anyone will be replaced, but it is a possiblity we have to take into account going into these next two arcs.
Yeah, last time a Broadcast dub of OP got mentioned it was basically "We're looking into the feasibility of doing this" which is as vague as you can get in that regard. It's obvious One Piece is a pretty big scope and no matter what that'll cause potential issues there.
My interpretation of their comments was that they were looking into it, in that they were wondering what kind of support fans would have for the idea. If it's something fans would want, that would make it worthwhile for them, they would see about getting to it. If it didn't have enough support from fans, then they wouldn't go for it.
I don't know what the final consensus on that was, as a lot of people were saying "no" to a broadcast dub under the false assumption that a broadcast dub would lead to them taking LONGER to dub the older arcs they were still working on, even though Funi said very clearly in their comments on the matter that a Broadcast Dub would not stop them from dubbing the older arcs, and would in fact give them incentive to get older arcs out even faster, thus catching up to the Japanese release much faster than the currently estimated 5 years.
edit
Looked up the thing about Scott Freeman. Don't tend to pay attention to things like that. Sucks that the guy who voiced one of my favorite character's dad ended up being such a creep. Hopefully if/when Yassop has speaking roles in the series again, they'll get a good replacement actor for him. Usopp and Yassop deserve better than that kind of association.

But the possibility is so low that it's hardly worth worrying about. I rank it as worrisome as whether or not Funimation is going to continue, which is to say, I'm not concerned in the slightest. In fact, I can't think of anyone outside of Mr. One's VA (whose name I can't think of at the moment) that isn't a newly cast character or already a Funimation regular throughout the whole of Impel Down and Marineford.
Just stumbled upon this interview R Bruce Elliott had with a fairy tail podcast back in August. From about 2:00-8:00 and he talks a bit about Whitebeard and about how far along they've dubbed.
So they have been working on Marineford since at least August. That is awesome.

Huh. He said he's working with Joel; even though we saw that Mike was recording a few weeks ago. Hmm. Maybe Mike takes over half way through the arc or towards the end, for specific episodes?

Well Mike made that voice director tweet on August 21st, and even though this interview was posted on August 31st it could have been recorded several days before. So it’s possible that the episodes referenced in this interview (up to 462) were the last couple episodes Joel directed for before Mike taking over.
so does that mean they have been working on Marineford since August, i hope so that way there is no delay between voyages
Hm. How many episodes do they dub in a month? Should we assume they're half way through the arc by now? Or most of the way?

This is something that I suspect can vary depending on how many properties they are working on at a given time. The more they have, the less they can work on regular, long term properties , such as One Piece, at a given time and vice versa. In the end, it seems to balance out.
So season 8 is confirmed. I'm glad they are working on it already they are slowly but surely catching up to the sub
So this all, but confirms season 8
pretty cool and thanks for sharing
Great to hear that they're already working on Marineford. We might get an official announcement for Season 8 early next year.
Thanks!

Mike must be happy getting to play Buggy again. He's one of Mike's favorite characters.
Season 7, Voyage 2 is 22.99 on amazon right now.
why is season 7 voyage 2 always out of stock?

Nobody exactly knows why. For some reason, this one volume FUNi has low stock of.
We suspect it might have something to do with the new Universal Studios distribution FUNimation has going, but FUNi has been mum on it so far.
I hope it doesn't turn into that one random alabasta voyage which went out of print. That would massively annoy me.
So, from what you've said and things I've seen/heard elsewhere, I would say I was completely wrong when I said FUNimation typically only dubs stuff they have a license for. That being said, I still stand by the fact that they wouldn't record ahead to the point of being at the timeskip, and based on the podcast midod linked that seems to be the case.

No, they just get the license months before they announce that they have it.
It's a mixture of both really. If they believe they will be getting the license, then they may record small amounts prior to getting the license. I don't doubt that they currently hold a license for season 8.
Thing is, no license=no materials with which to even record.
So if they say they are recording, then they have to have the license, whether or not they've announced it.
That's what I thought at first, but I remember reading somewhere that they had recorded something else much prior to licensing it, perhaps I misread it, or it was false info…
So I guess I'm back where I started...

Yeah i noticed that. The other day i watched the legend of arslan on funimation youtube channel and before the episodes starts Universal studio pops up. It' like I'm watching a movie.
Kind of late but I just wanted to say I was very impressed with how FUNi handled the Straw Hat separation scene and the Sabaody arc as a whole. Some of the voices like Pappagu and Sentoumaru took some getting used to but they turned out well for me. Credit goes to Colleeen Clinkenbeard for handling that breakdown Luffy had so well. I forgot he went crazy like that. It just sucks we won't hear the Straw Hats much for a few years now, but it gives the same exact feeling we had while this was going on in the manga and anime originally airing so it's cool to reexperience it again.
I held off on the Boss Luffy specials and the first episode or two of Amazon Lilly we have at the end of the set. Though it's a really important arc for setting things into motion and Hancock herself is awesome, the Amazon Lilly arc isn't exactly up there in arcs I like, as short as it is. I think the reason for it is because it comes right off the Straw Hats leaving and as awesome as Luffy is, the Luffy show of him doing random stuff by himself doesn't appeal as much to me. Part of what made Impel Down and Marineford so great despite a lack of Straw Hats is Luffy interacting with so many old characters, so I'm looking forward to getting into that soon.
Yeah i noticed that. The other day i watched the legend of arslan on funimation youtube channel and before the episodes starts Universal studio pops up. It' like I'm watching a movie.
That has nothing to do with the deal I'm talking about.
See, Universal Studios is now in the anime business in Japan. A couple of years back when Geneon collapsed and FUNi picked up a lot of their licenses? Well, Universal bought the Japanese wing of Geneon and started producing Anime. Hellsing was the first new series I was aware of to be released with the Universal Studios branding.
I suspect this has caused FUNi to have to work with Universal at a few points since they are now the Japanese rights holders to any Geneon property, which probably LEAD to them getting a distro deal with Universal, but you'd be seeing that logo on some Anime regardless.
Meanwhile, United Publications still hasn't received any stock of Season Seven: Voyage Two from FUNi. Nothing new I know, but man, three weeks?! I miss when Voyages arrived weeks early.
