Oh nice. Now I wonder what comes next.
Food Wars - It's In the Trash
-
-
If only Kuga-kun had real friends.
-
@Purple:
I was thinking this moment.
Yours works too I guess
Yes. It's just that against Soma, Mimasaka learnt another purpose of cooking instead of gaining recognition. So he's grateful for that, which makes sense in he helping him against Kuga. But sure, 'big time' covers all the teaching and the pleasant moments.

That was just sarcasm pointing out the foodgasm lol, it was def your point on evolving as a chef
-
Now I'm interested in what going to happen in Day 5. Soma did technically meet Kuga's criteria so there isn't a need for a day 5 fight.
I hope Day 5 covers the other booths particularly the other trio and maybe the elite ten.On the side note, the author give information regarding Soma's mother. Basically, she passed away. Not exactly surprised.
-
It would be very in-character of the series for there to be a Shokugeki between the two on day 5, turned into some sort of special event closing up the festival. That's just as likely not to happen, though, since I can't see them ignoring the main parts of the festival.

Oh that's kind of depressing. Well mostly to find it out that way lol. Did it give any other info?
-
It'd have been more interesting if she's alive, I guess.
-
Tweet also says he isn't sure yet whether she's going to appear before Soma's graduation it will depend on where the actions of the characters and Souma will take him.
Kind of interesting, might be me misinterpreting but it kind of sounds like that post Tootsuki stories could definitely be a thing. -

-
So…He's not sure if she's dead then?
Pretty sure it's just about her appearing in the story. She doesn't have to be alive to do that(Flashbacks).
Her being dead and him not being sure about her appearing in the story before Soma's graduation, it doesn't really contradict each other. As for why it's dependent on the characters, sounds to me like it's a pacing thing. He doesn't know yet where the characters will take him down the road. He might not find the opportunity to fit it in organically.Ah I also forgot the bit where he talks about her death becoming a part of who Souma is as a character.

Ah I see what you mean.
-
If nothing else, Soma surpassed Kuga in having more friendship power.
-
Souma won through the power of friendship. I actually like it. It didn't feel hamfisted at all, unlike some other friendship loving manga. I'm really looking forward to the other member of the elite 10 mocking Kuga, namely Nene and Eizan. Speaking of Eizan I'm hoping we see something big from him this festival. Maybe he'll come along, set up shop in all 3 areas and completely blow everyone out of the water sales wise.
-
Actually the friendship topic can become cheesy with easy. I didn't feel this chapter was cheesy in that respect, but it was because the story didn't provide hints about it and it was a believable surprise. (Nothing like Luffy making friends along the new word to take down the WG). But I'm not sure if I'd like to see more 'friendship' bonds used to beat the big cooks. Anyway, luckily friendship bonds doesn't have anything to do with cooking duels, which is and will be always a 1 vs 1 stuff.
-
Eh, you have to have partners to build a successfull business venture. That can be frienship.
-
Plus, Kuga's "booth" was being run by over 30 people who were on a pretty high level themselves.
Soma's small team makes things pretty fair in the long run. -
Eh, you have to have partners to build a successfull business venture. That can be frienship.
Not my point. I don't mean friends are not necessary or interesting. Only that this series is not much about the power of friendship, or not in the way other mangas take that as a premise. Life needs friends, even if you are a great cook. But friends won't make you a great cook. In this arc it was useful to be supported by friends given that they have to serve a lot of orders. But in the story is more common the 1 vs 1 (shokugeki) in which the help from friends has clear limits than this kind of scenario.
Anyway, I liked the chapter; as I pointed Kuga is really interesting and you want to see him pissed off for being such an arrogant and obnoxious guy.

It appears the author did a q&a on his twitter and revealed some future plot points. I'll list some relevant ones below:
-
Soma's mom is dead. Not like no one saw this coming.
-
Megumi has a dark side involving her past and such.
-
Erina will start to get closer to Soma very soon.

I guess that's why Megumi is so timid. Also on Erina, please, please, please don't let her be the love interest in the end
-
-
Erina is the love interest and the sooner you accept it the more painless it will be.
-
If Erina isn't it, then who? Megumi? Nikumi? Alice? Ryouko? Hisako? Mayumi?
-
Titty Tsundere has camel toe.
Italian Yamcha is still in this manga?
Aw Sucks Soma pulls a actually smart victory.
Decent chapter.
-
I would love it if Soma end up with that random girl who had her knife stolen by Subaru. Just to troll the shippers.:ninja:

We Fire Emblem Awakening now.
-
Isn't the author female?
-
The consultant chef is female, yes, but the artist and writer are both male
-
@Purple:

Oh I thought Soma was a fully female production.
-
Oh I thought Soma was a fully female production.
I'm pretty sure the artist is a very famous Hentai artist
-
Yeah, Tosh.
I love his art style, it's part of what makes this series work so well. -
I'm pretty sure the artist is a very famous Hentai artist
Well it's not like if there are no female hentai artists.
-
- Megumi has a dark side involving her past and such.
I have a feeling this is going to be a flashbck I won't like at all. It just sounds like a totally bad idea. Megumi is a timid country girl, what more melodrama would you want?
Oh well, at least there'll be a Kuga foodgasm later on. Right?
-
Kinda suck that they skipped the ping pong scene.=.=
But they only have 5 more episode to go. Which is probably enough to cover the preliminary.I have a feeling this is going to be a flashback I won't like at all. It just sounds like a totally bad idea. Megumi is a timid country girl, what more melodrama would you want?
Megumi doesn't seem to have a dad. I guess the flashback has something to do with that?
-

Well… it sure would be funny if it involved her ping pong past now that the anime skipped that scene.
-
If the anime skipped the Ping Pong scene, then this thread title kinda loses any meaning in it whatsoever, doesn't it?
(psst…change it back…..)
-
Changed it
-
I dunno what this is about, but I will never ever let even the flimsiest opportunity to rep Ping Pong: The Animation slip by!
Shokugeki no Soma might not be a Ping Pong anime, but Ping Pong: The Animation IS a Ping Pong anime! Watch it!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also should I watch the anime to get into this franchise about lewd cooking or is better to go straight to manga?
-
Ping Pong is super duper, yes. Although it's much more a character study in the veil of a ping pong series, but still plenty of ping pong to be had
But either way for SnS is fine. Manga's probably the better route tho because Tosh is super duper at art
-
I honestly though you guys were joking about Ping Pong The Animation until I look it up myself. XD
It's an actual anime about ping pong!
Seriously, I thought there was some kind of ping pong joke that I wasn't getting.:ninja:@Sander- I recommend reading the manga for one glorious scene that you will not want to miss.
-
Or you could just read the one chapter the cut scene is from.
Also should I watch the anime to get into this franchise about lewd cooking or is better to go straight to manga?
The lewd is largely an early hook to get viewers attention. WHile foodgasms continue in creative ways, the straight up hentai style moments fade pretty quickly.

And it´s one of the best that came out in the recent years

And it's goddamn good, too. Only 11 episodes long but super duper good. The art style may be off putting at first for some but it's actually really great.

Still plenty of lewd scenes tho. Can't take Tosh completely out of his roots I suppose
-
I find the foodgasms were more creative when they were a bit lewd. Now they are just ok most of the time.
-
I say bring on the fanservice so long as it's never a substitute for quality
-
Equal opportunity fanservice isn't bad when done right. Kill La Kill more than proved that. It's only really problematic when it's misogynistic (Fairy Tail) or just plain distracting/unfitting (Kenichi).
-
While we are sorta on the subject, I want to say that I seriously think that Ping Pong the animation is one of the greatest anime of all time. The music, the art, the animation, the direction and the story…damn it's all perfect. But hey, combine Yuasa and Taiyo Matsumoto and that's the kinda greatness you are going to get.
-

So true. I don't think I would even have kept reading this if it was only females getting the foodgasms.
Oh my god. You just reminded me I never finished Kenichi lol.
-

Kenichi really is one of those times where the fanservice made it totally unreadable for me.
-
On the opposite corner The Stravaganza is fanservice turned into art without ruining the plot. To me, it's on a different league.
