we actually were supposed to feel sorry for the guy
I fear that was actually the intention of this scene.

This would be an interesting chapter, if it had happened like..three years ago. Not when we know that Natsu will friendship himself out of this.
I wonder if mango gelato guy is going to be FT(read : 'watered down') version of Cabbage guy. I thought they were going to find some intel in the island, but they don't seem to care much and indulge in local delicacy instead.
Can't really say much about the new bad guys' introduction other than how rushed and overly straightforward it is. The good guys are pretty much worfed for good measure.
Does anyone have the list of repetitive plot points?
If it's not there already, it should be added:
^ FT itself is already a big pile of repetitiveness, so it's rather redundant to keep track of every single of them.
New chapter is out

Except for the beginning part, I thought it was a solid chapter. Interested to learn about the other Alvarez mages.
Agreed, this was pretty good. For once Mashima actually managed to build some tension - Brandish has climbed pretty high on my favorite list. I'm still not trusting Mashima enough to NOT expect him to screw this over in the end, but it's a step in the right direction.
I also quickly came to like Brandesh. I thought she would just come in, a little hype, then leave. Instead, we got to see more of what she is like. She really doesn't care about the whole thing, because she knows that it would be stupid for them to go against the empire. Loved the little part with the mango stand, her expression was adorable. Then when you think all she was going to do was show off her one power, she obliterated that one guy. Showed her bad side, but also showed how overwhelming she will be.
Thats how u make a villain group threating, MANshima delivering again.
Natsu was looking at his right warm, and seems that he can transform into a dragon, another Rave Master reference which is like when Let could transform into a dragon as well.
Brandish was the spy if anyone guessed.
Ooooo…They are so strooong.
It seems Lady Brandish is the weakest of the 12
Cause on the Fairy Tail Wiki Page of her, her name has the 12th letter in the Greek alphabet.
Wow, look at how OP these new mages are. I can't wait to see how inconsistant Mashima can be with power levels and the FT mages start soloing each one of them in a few months due to the power of friendship.
You're just jealous of their friendship.
@LordEnel:
Brandish was the spy if anyone guessed.
It's possible.
I'd wait for the next chapter to see if that kid's dad appears, though.
Brandish… what a badass.
The fanservice went both ways this chapter, so there's that.
And as stated above, in about six months, these 12 will all get soloed by Fairy Tail and Friendship.
Also, titties and man ass.
Fairy Tail.

She knew who they were.
She let them go.
She gave info about Makarov.
Everything points that way.
And I don't know, Brandish power looks ridicolously strong, If Elfman beats one of them by himself because he's saving ever, I'm getting the first ticket to japan and slapping mashima.
Elfman my most hated character after he defeated Bacchus, worst chapter ever made in fairy tail, believe it.

I wouldn't mind if Gajeel Gray Natsu Laxus and Gildartz each took one on, however if fairy tail is really gonna go with this, at least make it 3 vs 1 or something, please.
Also pretty obvious the wolf and the vampire will fight, so I guess that leaves us with 10? maybe 11? Really hoping to see Jellal shine here in this arc.
Edit: I just went back a bit more in some of the chapters, the power levels in this manga are so inconsistent it's just a joke, So a god is summoned, the god, with a simple sword strike, splits the earth for kilometers, gets one shotted by natsu.
Also when natsu whent into the arena after his return, his "body" was emanating so much heat that the arena itself was melting, to be honest, that is just as impressive as brandish this chapter. The power level roller coaster.
Honestly, after those few panels, Natsu shoud be on par with those wizards…
@LordEnel:
…
Serena and maybe 1/2 more of these guys will end up turning good. Count on it.

For sure!! Classic.
@LordEnel:

She could have heard about the most famous guild in Ishgar and it's master, one of 10 holy mages who has a thingie they want in his basement from their spies or any other channel. Not to mention Lumen Histoire is FT's first master.
And she could have let them go out of pure shounen villain cockiness or to have them spread word of how awesome she and the rest of bad fiaries are to Ishgar. Not like FT characters are deeply characterized.
Not saying she's not Ishgar spy. It would make sense if they had a high ranked spy in the empire that wants to fuck them up. Not sure if Makarov would have been oblivious too it, though. Everything is not quite pointing that way, as you say.
Man, I just remembered how much I loathe Ichiya. What's the point of him existing anyway? He's just a poor excuse of a gag character.
For some reason, I doubt the teleport guy is dead for good. I mean, It's kinda lame seeing the good guys being humiliated by a villain that's barely one full chapter old without a chance of getting payback.
Brandish passes, I guess, save for her miserable get-up. Did she blow all her fortune on the fur coat to the point that she cannot afford anything other than a bikini?

You forget the logic of Fairy Tail. The less clothes a woman wears, the more powerful she is (unless you are Lucy, then you are screwed). Look at the female demons from Tartoros, and the fact that the strongest mage from Avatar was the chick with the least amount of clothes. Also look at Erza, as less clothed armor is usually stronger.
I'm guessing that brandish' power involve manipulating size as seen by the island and Marin could possibly be shrunken to an ant size

Wait, was there such character?
@The:

Erza's Nakama armor is more like crippling overspecialization though, trading defense for more offense. I gotta wonder, what's preventing her to wield her strongest weapon that comes with it, while wearing her strongest armor at the same time?
Oh well, I guess there's no point whining about it now, is it :sad: ?
@The:
That's the one I was talking about. During the battle, it was claimed she was the strongest of the group there, but she got stomped by Juvia/Grey.
So much for the strongest of a global-scale evil syndicate. It's all thanks to them Avatars that FT now has its own version of Fullbringers.

*Can't be used with heavy armor equipped. :ninja:

I believe that even her heaviest-looking armor isn't any heavier than her default pair of bazongas :ninja:

They were on a beach resort island where everyone was in swimwear. Do you think that anyone who goes the beach in swimwear is in a "miserable get-up?"

No?
The problem is, it's not unlikely for Mashima to design her with just those as default outfit. The beach resort setting just happened to give all the more reason for someone who wears bikini all the time as part of their outfit to wear one. Then again, what she's wearing may not be a bikini, but something that resembles one.
Hm…So is this supposed to be the final arc?
Damn, I really hoped it was going to be a new character. But I overestimated Mashima yet again.
I'm out. After 444 chapters to nowhere, I'm getting out of Dodge. I suggest you fine people do the same.
wait,the guy who wouldn't go around anyone because they all end up dead is the emperor of an entire continent?
how the hell does that even make sense??ò_ò
also..if he was the emperor all along..couldn't he use some of those ultra powerful mages to kill himself instead of the demons?

This is.. EDOLAS ZEREF, THE LIVE GIVING MAGE WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER
I can't recall any single clue that points to such revelation, so I assume we'll have an un-twist coming : Zeref wasn't the king all along and he only brainwashed the whole empire or put them in massive-scale illusion trick.
This is.. EDOLAS ZEREF, THE LIVE GIVING MAGE WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER
Oh hey, that makes sense. In the end they will negate each other and the story is happy end.
One thing that really confused me this chapter. Who was Karen, and when did Angel kill that person? I don't remember anybody dying in that arc.
Also, I didn't recognize her, and thought she was Brandish with longer hair.

Haha yeah me too, I had to google these people just to remember who they were.
Karen was a member of Blue Pegasus and was the former owner of Aries and Leon, she mistreated her celestial spirits so Leon stayed permanently summoned to stop her from summoning anyone else and abusing them. Then whilst Karen was on some mission Angel, a member of Oracion seis, killed Karen in a fight because Karen couldn't summon anyone to defend herself. I don't really get why Lucy would care though, beyond just being very empathetic.
I don't really get why Lucy would care though, beyond just being very empathetic.
Because she was a celestial mage like her after all, and her death was the root of Loki's heroic BSOD. Of course, Mashima had to bottomline how much of a jerk she was until she died offscreen so the readers could hardly feel bad for her.
So Etherios Mode confirmed for the, let's say, top 5 to top 3 of the Spriggan 12?
For a moment there I tought that Karen was Lucy's Mom and thinking how she can forgive her mother's killer.
But yeah, who cares about an abusive pokemon trainer who she didn't even meet?
So Zeref is the emperor of mage land? That's surprising. I thought he would be either too sealed or depressive to bother establishing a mage country or ruling it. Guess he had to find something to do of his free time.
Who was that spy person? Who the hell is Karen?!
I'm also laughing at the "how do you like me now" panel. It's so out of place (and painfully obvious).
@Zar:
Who was that spy person? Who the hell is Karen?!
Spy - Angel from Oracion Seis Group
Karen - stuck up B***h who died due to Leo blocking her Celestial MAgic by staying summoned(of his own will) for a long time then Karen died by the hands of angel

Thanks, I think I remember who they were now.
I was going to google "Fairy Tail Karen" and the moment I wrote FT and pressed the space bar, the number one result line thing was actually Karen… so yeah, don't feel bad.
I don't really mind Angel being the spy, even though it doesn't seem like something that was necessary to happen.
Now Zeref... wtf.
Shouldn'teveryone on that capital be dead?
Unexpected ending with Zeref showing up, he is a very unique villain and probably a better villain than most current Shounen villains.
