COME ON PAPRIKA AND POWERPUFF GIRLS MOVIE - BREAK THAT FOURTH PLACE TIE!
Well, I guess no one is really looking forward for watching an Oscar Winner.
…It didn't deserved anyway, except for the Supporting Role.
Wow Girl who Leapt Through Time is second place.
COME ON PAPRIKA AND CORALINE - BREAK THAT FOURTH PLACE TIE!
Fixed that for you.
No love for Ghost World? I thought y'all liked comics.
Granted, it's hard to find a convincing scene to show off the worth of the movie, it's all pretty low key and dry, but in a fantastic way.
Ghostworld
No love for Queen Latifah?
No love for Queen Latifah?
I have nothing against her, but Last Holiday to me is the sort of movie I watch when I go home and my mom is all "oh, this is such a cute and inspiring movie" much in the same way she wants to share every mainstream "inspirational" movie and rom com. And I'll watch it when that happens, because it's mom.
But considering we have stuff in there like the ones currently in top four, it's just tremendously outclassed and I can hardly imagine wanting to see it with AP people, or even on my own.
I am sad I will not be able to share the joys and pleasures of Hellraiser with people.

Let's have a Terry Zwigoff month next. Ghost World will HAVE to be in the top five then!
Well, I missed so many movie days. Look like I miss out on some good movies. Well here's to hoping I get to make so of the upcoming viewings.
Anyway, I voted Alien/Aliens, Kill Bill Vol.1 & Vol.2, and Pan's Labyrinth. If you haven't seen these vote for them.
Alien/Aliens: Ridley Scott and James Cameron do an amazing job. Both the best movies of the franchise.
Kill Bill Vol.1 & Vol.2: My favorite Tarantino movie(s. It had to be split into two) It has great action and arguably one of the best female heroines of all time. I've always felt Uma Thurman as The Bride is a lot like Nico Robin and vise-versa.
Pan's Labyrinth: It's one of Guillermo del Toro's best movies. The imagery he creates in this movie ranges from inspiring wonder to scaring the pants off of you. Even if you're subtitle-averse, this movie is worth watching.
I like how now we wind up with two consecutive weekends of Guillermo. Well played AP, well played.
Alright. Gonna break the Paprika and Girl Who Leapt Through Time tie with Paprika.
Here's the schedule:
July 5th - Pan's Labyrinth
July 11th - Paprika
July 18th - The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
July 25th - Alien and Aliens (Double Feature)
Good call putting it on July 5th.
What? Not wanna see a Spanish-Mexican movie in July 4th?
I actually would have enjoyed it on July 4th, since everything is pretty much closed, nothing is going on, and I don't care in particular about going out to parks and interacting with "people."
But I guess I can understand some people actually WILL go out xD
shakes fist at social people
Lol, I'm actually back inside now because it rained and reports say it's going to rain again soooooo I guess this was a good day for a movie. ~_~
I keep forgetting to join for one of these and I wanna join in this time for sure!
Can someone do me a favour and pm me tomorrow when it's starting? I know I'm gonna forget again.
I woke up at 6am today and then I found out it wasn't on the 4th.
And tomorrow I'm going to be at my workplace arrrrrgh.
Yay! Alien made it!
As for me, I'm glad we're gonna watch Pan's Labyrinth tomorrow since I wouldn't have been able to watch it today.
Lol, I'm actually back inside now because it rained and reports say it's going to rain again
That's what acetylene torches are for; just keep the fireworks under cover until you're ready to set them off.
Alright, time to open up nominations for the August theme too.
Hot lead for a hot month: Westerns.
Live actions films about the Old/Wild West.
I nominate…wait for it...Nicolas Cage Month!!!!
Christopher Walken month.
That's what acetylene torches are for; just keep the fireworks under cover until you're ready to set them off.
I guess the event I was at didn't have any of those. :'/
–-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I nominate....ROBIN WILLIAMS MONTH!!!!
Jumanji, Hook, Aladin, Ms. Doubtfire, Patch Adamas, and those are just some of his lighthearted comedic movies. The list goes on. Robin, Robin, Robin, Robin!

Peek-A-Boo
! I see you!
Hmm. I'd like some opinions on something.
So when it comes to double features, would anybody be opposed to changing the format a little? Instead of it being all in one night, we could separate it into two different nights (Saturday-Sunday). I've noticed in the past that a 4-5 hour movie session exhausts some people, so they don't stay for the full session.
I nominate Trilogy Month
One trilogy each weekend. Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, classic Mad Max, classic Indy Jones, Matrix, Toy Story, Godfather, etc.

don't touch my grapes, or i kill you.
Fuck, the first time we actually show a masterpiece I miss. Thanks AVGN.

I wouldn't mind that. Aside from being exhausting, watching two movies in a row is a pretty big time commitment for a lot of people who may need or want to do other things.
I nominate Trilogy Month
YOU'RE NOT HELPING!
All three Godfathers is a massive time investment that would last until midnight with our current setup.
Godfather II alone is a time sink that needs some planning around.
Fuck, the first time we actually show a masterpiece I miss.
We've already shown Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Iron Giant.
Don't forget Muppet Treasure Island
What about Zardoz ?
@Purple:
Don't forget Muppet Treasure Island
That's not even the best Muppet movie though.
Since there aren't a whole lot of nominations on the table, I'll nominate Movies About Making Movies month.
It can be any movie where at least some aspect of the film-making process is a major plot point (e.g. Living in Oblivion, Ed Wood, Singin' in the Rain, Tropic Thunder). And hey, TLC can get his Nicolas Cage fix by nominating Adaptation.
I really don't like Adaptation. I understood what it was going for (because one brother took over for the other!) but I really didn't appreciate the movie taking a crow bar to the plot and tone to make a silly meta joke. Yeah, meta was the whole point but there were more subtle and less intrusive ways than basically pasting two completely different movies together lol.
My personal favorite Nic Cage film is 8MM
A meta movie month would be interesting though. Plus I love me some Tropic Thunder!
A movie about movies? We would need to watch Hugo.
I will most likely be able to participate in movie night tonight :) Paprika is streaming, right?
unfortunately I don't think I can make it tonight

Awesome.
Indeed, that's the one.

I'll leave nominations open until later tonight, and then start up the poll.
