You're going to have to elaborate on that. The only "crossover" I remember from Lilo and Stitch was Regis Philbin, and he was in the style of the show.
-
Well then…wow
Did those shows hijack Lilo & Stitch or was it business as-usual-but-with-Kim-Possible (for some reason)? (not trying to argue, I'm legitimately curious)
EDIT: You know...art styles not matching really didn't cause much contention in those Fairly Oddparents/Jimmy Neutron crossovers either huh? I think "tone" would have made a better word to use before.

i really don't know. I just ran across the pics i posted and followed up on them to make sure they weren't fake…they are legitimate episodes.
-
Thinking about it, I'm really surprised I haven't heard about a Frozen animated series.

Disney channel mandated crossovers all over the place. I don't recall if Lilo and Stitch went into any other shows, or if they just all intruded on Lilo… but there was clearly a mandate coming down from somewhere. It was just generally regular episode, but experiment of the week happened to stumble across the guest stars.
(And yes, Regis Philbin counts since he was doing Who Wants to Be a Millionaire at the time, a very visible Disney property.)In Kim Possible's case they thought Rufus was a black hole experiment, but no, naked mole rats just look like the experiment.
Of course, the L&S series itself pretty much a bit against the tone of its source movie anyway.

I want to know what Uncle Grampa meeting the SWAT Kats was like.

Why is there such a big deal about this?
It was something done for fun and April fool´s joke and that´s it.
It´s not cannon, even if it was it didn´t ruined anything previously established, the jokes were decent, especially the ones with the Gems (Pearl, you da real MVP), and UG wasn´t THAT annoying, at least compared to what he can be in his series and it had a good message to end it.
It was only 11 minutes and nothing got ruined because of it. I personally thought it was entertaining, and I won´t skip it in a future rewatch. -

It wasn´t that far away from the coast… Maybe they could have made it.
That begs the question, how the hell did they get a ship? -
You are questioning logic behind a scene solely meant to wordplay on "sinking ships" and nothing much more?
I dunno. As cleaver as these jokes were on paper, I didn't really find any of them funny. I like my big punchlines with buildup. It's neat if you enjoy that kinda thing, but I just could not really like this episode at all despite the good intentions. Atleast it's just one skippable episode, so no biggie for me.
-
Hum, i'm not from an English speaking country. Didn't knew there was such an expression.
And yeah UG is definitly not a build up show. It keeps throwing jokes like one of those baseball machines. That's one of the reasons I don't watch a lot. Quick saturation of content with all the random physical jokes.
-
Ah. My bad for assuming anyone can get the joke. It's not much an English thing, but internet nerd slang on romantic relationships. Look up shipping and shippers with "anime" as a keyword to narrow things down. Think I'd hurt myself trying to type out an explanation myself.
-
I think I enjoyed the Gems' reactions, but other than that, an eh episode for me.
! But that preview. I want that song.

Now i feel a bit dumb for not getting it. I knew that the term "shipping/shippers" had something to do with couples and people wanting couples, I just never got realized that relstionship had ship in it and that the joke was about that. I just saw it has a random UG-like moment.

They've released a Steven Universe RPG

-
So I started watching this last week and caught up yesterday, this is great, the characters are great/fun to watch, I got suprised by the plot actually getting to where its at rigth now, I though this would must be a silly funny cartoon but I'm really enjoying everything that I've seen.

You're not alone there - I can think of much worse ways I could spend 11mins of my life - the show makes me laugh and the VA's obviously enjoy it too it must be like a palate cleanse.

yeah! It's pretty funny and it pokes fun at the original in really self aware way. Ppl act like the original was some kind of Bruce Tim show and not, well..
-
I would have given it a chance if it didn't poke fun at the orignal. One episode kinda went too far for me.
-
People seem to forget how blatantly Teen Titans was inspired by FLCL in how they handled face faults and sight gags and chibis, or how like 2/3 of the episodes were actually really wacky weird stuff.
Yes, they took themselves seriously and had story arcs and character development and quieter moments, but generally if they weren't dealing with the main villain of the season (Slade or Brother Blood or Trigon… and Brother Blood sucked) , they got fairly wacky in the standalone episodes. Especially with like Control Freak and Mad Mod or Mother May I or that one with the weird imp version of Robin. Even the mere presence of Silkie was an ongoing gag basically.
I think people just remember the more recent Young Justice and remember TT as exactly like that since it aired like 10 years ago. Heck, had the series just kept running constantly it probably would have eventually evolved to something akin to what Go is anyway, especially considering the mess the last season was.
I would have given it a chance if it didn't poke fun at the orignal. One episode kinda went too far for me.
Was it the one where the crossed over with Young Justice?
Cause that was hilarious.
But even the "original" poked fun at itself… and the 80's comics it was based on. Thats actually the exact ciriticism fans of the original comics tossed at the first show originally. "Too silly" and "pokes fun at the source".
They even had two distinct theme songs! They'd play the intro in Japanese whenever it was a silly episode.
-
Was it the one where the crossed over with Young Justice?
Just every single thing they did with Terra when she showed up. Felt like a really tasteless and meanspirited inside joke, and I could not really care much of what the show had to offer after that. Then there's episodes that focused on Raven's legs that made me just roll my eyes at the writing.
I could see the appeal in Go!, but it certainly doesn't seem to be geared towards a viewer like me.
-
Not as if the original show killed her then brought her back with zero actual explanation or resolution.
Or the comics brought her back as a zombie.
-
I don't know. Teen Titans definitely had its share of silly comedy, but I think it's the balance that made it so good. The drama made the comedy pop more and the comedy made the drama hit harder.
-

The old show was better with the mix, no question at all.
The new one isn't just inherently evil due to being silly, or as completely removed as people would like to think.
-
I don't know much about the comics outside Starfire being considerably worse, but I liked Terra's character in the TT cartoon. It just struck all the wrong cords with me when her appearance in Go! ended with her literally being thrown in the garbage. And it was written as an obvious inside joke. Guess it's a strange thing to take personally, but I thought it was a bit too mean on her version in the previous cartoon.
-
Ehh, when I last watched through the OG Titans, a lot of the humor fell flat. I absolutely love the eps with Mad Mod or Mumbo, but sometimes the overuse of anime shitck or the occasional bit of dumber humor made me cringe a little. The action/drama was the more consistent part of the formula and when the comedy worked, too, the show had some of its best moments, but it was just as prone to get dragged down.

Comics Starfire is generally way better.
Unless you're referring to the last couple years with the DC reboot in which case, ugh, but everyone hated that and they fixed it after a couple months.
And Terra was always a traitor double agent villain. In every version of the series. Its her role. (and she comes back in later episodes pissed off about that, incidentally)

It often fell flat, yes.
All I'm saying is, it wasn't not-there in the old show either.
Its an established workable tv franchise now, given that its on its third series. It'll probably get another reboot in a couple years, and it might be more serious again when that time comes. Just like Spiderman and Transformers and Batman.

But Go! Robin is still a gigantic, aggressively dislikable, selfish asshole. Most of the episode's I've left on in the background revolve around Whatever stupid thing Robin gets caught up his ass to be a prick about. If it was once or twice it's one thing, but it's definitely a pattern.
Not to mention the on-again-off-again way they remember Beast Boy doesn't eat meat.
Tho I still stand by that if the show didn't used the same designs and voices from the old show, it would've been easier for most to view it as it's own separate thing and not connected to the previous iteration. As far as I'm aware, the target audience was too young to watch the older show anyway.
-

Pick three of the following:
01. Robin is a jealous sociopath.
02. Random musical interlude
03. Random musical interlude about a food item
04. Starfire using "The"
05. REPEATEDLY SCREAMED WORDS
06. Random '80s reference
07. Reference to that other Tara Strong show
08. Random dance party
09. Beast Boy and Cyborg's BFF status in peril
10. "Rocks fall, everybody dies!"Congratulations! You just wrote a Teen Titans Go! episode! It'll be on six times in the next week!

Still better than Spongebob.

I'm pretty sure if they had gone that route people still would've been left with hurt feelings. I know they'd also still insist this show was responsible for Young Justice getting canceled.
-

Well, yeah, but their writing list is:
01. Something edgy happens.
02. Something edgier happens. -
idk maybe it's because i actually read the comics that i can kind of appreciate Titans GO! I mean, the original Teen Titans show is obviously going to be better no matter what, but Titans GO is like the mini comic at the end of a chapter that makes you laugh and that's about it. Granted I don't watch Titans GO very often (occasionally when it comes on when I'm watching TV, which is like 2-3 times a month), but like it is 1000x better than that shite comic
-
Yeeeah… Teen Titans after Wolfman and Perez left ain't really Teen Titans. Basically the 1980-1986 run is pretty much definitive all there is to say about the characters.
And especially anything done recently is bleh because DC doesn't know what they're doing with most of their books.
But whatcha gonna do.
Anywaaaaay... new Steven episode tonight, riiiight?
-
-
So three guesses who Sour Cream's dad is…
Also, baby amethyst was the best. Young gems were just great all aound~
-
Episode wasn't as draining as people feared.
I loved how 80's-tastic Pearl and Garnet looked. Tho I'm not sure if Amethyst's hair being shorter made her look smaller or if she really was. If she actually is smaller than maybe her birth in Kindergarten wasn't that much earlier than the flashback (relative to 5000 years ago battles) Rose Quartz confirmed for 8 feet tall.
I swear I've heard the Manager's voice before. And I really feel like the groupie is going to be important later.
-
I love those 80's get ups. And young Amethyst was awesome. Greg's just a cool dude. And in the van there was a box of the same shirt that Steven wears. Thought that was cool that his shirt was one of Greg's band tees.
-
how was amethyst young in the 80's when she was shown as an adult in (what i assume is) the 1800's
-

The way the episode ended, I'm sure Marty will be back. As for Vidalia, (which is a type of onion) I'd like to see how she met her current husband and gave birth to the monster that is Onion.
We need an Onion/Sour Cream episode now.

as their attire in this episode showed, they liked to blend in with the times. Maybe they shape shifted to match the times as well
-
Was it just me that was thinking Vidalia wasn't human?
-
What an adorable episode. I'd like to see more of the gems' past with Rose.
It's cute how Steven inherited her laugh and starry eyes... I kinda wish Greg's singing voice was better
-
That episode was really great. Liked it quite a bit.
-
-
Sour Cream and Steven were likely conceived in the same place, just throwing that out there.
-
loved that hair. seeing younger gems was neat. I loved that song. greg is cool. kinda interesting how rose is more comfy with humans than the gems
-
I swear I've heard the Manager's voice before.
Jon Wurster.
Which makes this show just one degree removed from the Mountain Goats.
That is my role here: relating things to goats.
-
That was a really sweet episode. Young Greg was so adorable! I actually liked his singing voice, while it may not be "great", it had a lot of soul. It's episodes like this that make me wish the show ran longer than 10 minutes.
