wow they were oddly quick about making another one
Tales of Series

@From:
During its Tales of Festival (via Siliconera), the publisher revealed that this new installment will star a female lead named Velvet, who is voiced by Rina Satou and designed by Mutsumi Inomata.
I like her pants, very punk. -
what do you want to bet they're eager to push this one out and Tales-of-the-Tempest brush Zestiria under the couch
-
-
Finally a PS4 tales game,I thought it wouldnt happen for a long time.
-
I really like her hair.
-
Zestiria is releasing in Europe on PS3, PS4, and..wait for it…PC via steam! releases October 16th (19th for steam)
-
Hopefully the PS4/Steam version is revised and tweaked ala Graces -> Graces F because vanilla Zestiria was a bad game with pretty glaring technical problems
-
Still waiting for a playstation version of Vesperia.
Bastards.
Oh well, "Berseria" is a nice sounding title. Even though it probably won't have a pipe smoking wolf.
-
B -
B is for "Boat" -
I think any game of any gender should let you have a pirate ship.
-
ooo Tales game with pirate ships? I like that
-
Vesperia already did that! In all seriousness we need to see actual content. Also, I'm not digging that character design.

Actual pirate ships :P and really? Is it the punk rockyness of it?
-
Naw she just looks soulless and like Milla went through a rebellious even-more-naked phase.
-
B is for 'Belt level 9'

Crap. Looked up this thread to find the official Stephen Zestiria Review and…
Crap.
Though we were worlds apart on Xillia, so who knows?
-
I'll be curious to hear your thoughts 10-15 hours in
-
Not that far, but man, this is one curious game. Any time a game tries to overhaul equipment/levelling systems to this degree, well…it's rarely gone well for me.
-
I'm so far pretty ok with Zestiria love the character interactions. so far the story is kinda meh tho it's like a mix between sword and the stone and Avatar the Last Airbender
-
This might be my least-favorite Tales game since Legendia thus far. Story and characters are bland to a degree unusual for Tales (made even worse by the limited interactions based on the whole seraph-storyline), and it seems like every single system is inferior to previous games. I mean, Fusion is fine and dandy, but the interface for it is awful, and combine that with the terrible new "levelling" system…
Combat's not great so far either, though I haven't noticed any great technical problems, which may have been cleared up by the Day One Patch.
-
Tales of Zestiria is glitchy..
! in Marinda the Plauge city, right after the skit defeating the knight boss, the game glitched into a story lock,so the next auto skit never happened, i hope they patch the game up for Story locks
-
I so far haven't experienced any glitches yet
-
After ten or so hours of slogging through this game, realized I still had no solid understanding of any of the systems or the stakes or, well, anything. Just button-mashing through battles and haphazardly combining inventory.
…in a rare move, I'm not going to bother finishing a Tales game.
-
I wonder how this one will turn out, feels like they lost their mojo lately.
My next Tales will probably be Symphonia when it hits Steam(that Tales burnout lasted a looooong time jeez). Also is it weird that I think that outfits is god awful while being entirely fine with whatever Judith wore.
-

Judith's outfit had the advantage of looking like an outfit rather then a shredded mess. Though the whole werewolf thing explains that.
-
Now I wonder if Berseria is derived from the word "berserk" XD.
-
Berseria gives me some Castlevania vibes. Also the main girls claw arm reminds me of Alan Walker.
Anyway it looks pretty good so far imo.
-
The main heroine is a pirate that can turn into a werewolf. What more can you ask?
-
Ok…any advice on how to fight
! armored hiemdalf? We get to final form with 1 seraph left… And somehow rose without a seraph decant hit faster..what order did everyone else lose the seraphs on.?
-
Gamestop has Tales of Berseria up for preorder, Date is 3/31/17 for now http://www.gamestop.com/ps4/games/tales-of-berseria/132239?tp=i-H43-8C-5up-4o4RyS-1n-hKxz-1c-4o0rB1-S8Qbi&cid=eml_10002563&fq=4&om_rid=1083080167&om_mid=22743

For them to release Vesperia on the Playstation like they did in Japan.
-

Yea that would be cool…I have the Xbox 360 version digitally, but no system to play it on XD
-
This is actually the case I believe. We got Tales of Symphonia eventually! Should happen some year!
The game is like 8 years old now. I stopped caring a while back. Even if they ever get around to dubbing the rest of the PS3 exclusive content and release it to steam or whatnot, it'll be super old and dated by then. The once amazing graphics have not aged well.
I have enough rpgs to deal with already at this point.
-
Symphonia is the game that didn't hold up at all in terms of graphics and camera by the time they decided to remaster it. Vesperia still looks and feels great.
This is actually the case I believe.
Did they confirm this at some point? That's neat if I was right.

Fukaya also explained that the title “Berseria” comes from the myth of the Berserker, a warrior with unusual and uncontrollable power. Read more at http://www.siliconera.com/2016/04/22/tales-berseria-arrives-west-early-2017/#W3dffWsecj8rwFyy.99
Also, it's noted that most of those infected with Daemonblight go berserk.
-
I hope this is a just a demo thing ~_~
-
It at least seems like the type of thing that could be patched by the time it gets localized anyway (hopefully).
-
!
I hope this is a just a demo thing ~_~
Wow, I hope so too. If that is from the demo, 90% sure it will be fixed by the final game though.
-
Anyone getting the JP version? If yes looking forward to impressions. This has always been a good place to get the temperature on Tales games.
-
Hoh, I didn't know this was a thread probably because I didn't go looking for it. Anyway, my wife and I just beat Tales of Vesperia a few days ago. That was her first Tales game and my second. I beat Tales of Symphonia many years ago on gamecube with my brothers.

I would but… well, first of all my impressions of the recent entries are still super sour since Xillia, so I'm going to wait to hear whether the next one is worthwhile. I'm mostly interested in characters, the overworld/environments, and details such as shops and any kind of gear crafting/modification. Those are all things that they've just dropped the ball too hard on lately. So that on top of the fact that playing in Japanese requires a lot more focus and time to process all the convesation text means I'm not going to jump in like I have the past few times. But I will also be very curious what people think.

Cool stuff. How did you like it compared to Symphonia? I got the itch to play it again just the other day and I actually started streaming a NG+ file, but it turns out that streaming a game in Japanese that nobody watching can understand is not so fun. Shame you missed out on Patty, the most awesome character ever that's exclusive to the PS3 version, and some cool post-game stuff.

Its been so long since I played Symphonia so I can't make that accurate of a comparison and nostalgia makes me want to say Symphonia is better than it actually was but I know Vesperia was better in design, story, and characters. It also helps Vesperia that it's so recent in memory after putting 100+ hours into it. Though if I do remember correctly Symphonia had a story involving 2 different parallel worlds or something and I thought that was pretty damn cool.
You know, while looking up strategy guides for Vesperia I did see this blonde character/avatar every once in a while but didn't look into it for fears of being spoilered. I just thought the character would join my party later in the game and didn't want to know how. Then I completely forgot about the character until after I beat the game, lol. Well, now I have my explanation.

I totally get that! Hoping for maybe stephen then to have the time to drop the Tales info bomb.

Personally while I think Vesperia is definitely more polished mechanics and gameplay-wise, the story is one of the worst in the series (in a series known for having lacklustre stories!)
The characters are nice though! But overall I prefer Symphonia and feel more attached to those characters
-
So far, most impressions of Berseria seem positive at least as far as the combat, characters, and story are considered.
-
Yeah, I see a lot of praise for those 3 things. What worries me to death is this, from a decent review on GameFAQS:
Now for my problems with Berseria. Berseria is a game very much built from the framework of Tales of Xillia. The world's areas are small, filled with little more than souls (which trade in for accessories), the katz chests (where you trade in those souls), and chests with bottles and gels. I was sad to see the world so dramatically reduced in size from Zestiria and the removal of the little non linearity and ability to go off the beaten path presented in Zestiria. I also found myself missing the discovery points of past entries. The biggest disappointments were the the fact that the boat is a point and click mechanic and that the generic caves and environments that have plagued the series since Xillia returned once more here. Due to all of these factors, my sense of adventure in the game was basically shot.
I honestly still don't know if I want to give this a chance. -
I can deal with that. That kind of thing didn't really affect me much in Xillia.
