So, a couple good things and several bad things. Is no one else concerned that magic and ranged weapons will no longer be able to double?

50% average is generous. Let's try 40%, or 30% excluding HP.

Or better yet…why didn't they just make this optional? SURELY it is not that hard to code in a mode that allows weapon degradation (aka classic mode or something).
My thoughts exactly. Remember FE7 was also developed with newer players in mind (Lyn and her tutorial campaign), and I had no problem with managing dwindling weapons (well not immediately). I was like 9. You vary the usage, take advantage of shops, and really keep an eye on the rare ones.
-
Weapon durability is like the least-impactful mechanic. All it really served was to not allow for abuse of legendary or brave weapons. You always have the option of just not using those and there you go, you just made the game more difficult for yourself. Weight was a much bigger loss in terms of strategy. Each weapon having unique attributes adds way more depth than worrying about breaking a weapon once every couple of chapters.
-
Can infinite weapon use be back-ported to FE6, it would make getting the real ending not completely idiotic and counter-intuitive.
-
Nintendo's got a Humble Bundle now.
I'd be cautious, non North American folk, as it appears that it's still region locked

See, while I miss the weapon durability - I personally am interested in this weapon attribute system.
Also, how was the weight mechanic implemented in other games?

looks at empty shelf
Lucky Europeans. Game comes out next month for you.

It helped determine whether you would get a double attack, working with your Strength stat.
It only really affected Siege Tomes but lol at using Siege Tomes outside of Part 4 of Radiant Dawn.

Yeah i saw. It is super disappointing cause i would have so got that bundle even though i have some of the games

Ah, it kinda adds a dose of war realism to it all. Better strength literally meant you were stronger to pick up heavier weapons.
…was there really a FE game where you had to dismount to attack and/or enter buildings, because I think that's just taking a step overboard.
-

It means absolutely nothing about 10 chapters in because everyone's Strength is way above the threshold by that point.

Thracia 776. People don't know what an actually difficult FE looks like until they play it.

Heard that one was a doozy.

Ah.
Heard that one was a doozy.
Weapon weight also affected attack speed in older games, where it was calculated against Constitution. Constitution never increased outside of promotions or items in anything more recent than Thracia and has been gradually phased out.
Most Fire Emblem games are annoyed by your temerity that you dare play them. Thracia 776 took offense at your very existence.
-
I need to play thracia and the one before it. I started gaiden and FE6 but i never finished either of them. Gaiden is also a weird one. You can walk around villages in that game like an rpg

In the GBA games, if your constitution was lower than the weight of the weapon, you would lose the difference in Speed. So say you were a 5 Con Pegasus Knight with 16 Speed, and had a 10 weight Steel Lance equipped, you would really only have a Speed of 11, affecting your evasion, and ability to double.

As someone who played through FE7 tons of times, I thought constitution only applied for rescuing units. Huh.

Ugh math .

im hoping the new Rhythm tengoku game for 3DS comes to america, just saw the trailer for it and it looks fun.

Oh god I'm having doubts about my amiibo quest tomorrow. Should I even bother? Will I get to Target too late to get a real advantage? Am I gonna get trampled? Will I end up snatching an amiibo from a poor 7-year-old, or something? D:
…....gaaah, at least if it's a total bust, I can still look forward to Splatoon. I preordered and paid the whole thing off weeks ago.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
oh fuck me
Now I'm about to bail on this nonsense.
-
That's why I preordered all of mine online.
Two Ness', Charizard, Greninja, Jigglypuff, all coming.
I have Ness #1 already, Jiggs and Greninja shipped yesterday and Ness #2 and Charizard shipped today!
-
I feel as if there's no winning with the amiibo situation.
Want to buy them in stores?
-store exclusives
-stores not bothering to restock
-long lines
-people buying multiple ones for friends and/or to sell back at high priceWant to buy it online?
-glitched store programming
-preorders getting cancelled or sold
-servers crashing
-people sniping like crazy at 2 AM
-stores never warning people when preorders will be availableI really want to use Amazon more, I do, but the prices for the ones I've been eyeing are upwards of $40+ dollars. As much as I love certain characters, part of me just isn't willing to spend that much on a product that normally goes for ~$13. I have money, but it feels irresponsible, and that bothers me.
Almost four months I've been trying to track down the wave 3 amiibo, and I only really got lucky with Sonic. No Rosalina, no Meta Knight, hell Ike seems to be a ghost situation even though he wasn't a store exclusive, and now we've got rare characters like Robin, Lucina, Ness, Pac-Man, and the Inklings?
It's just gonna get worse and worse. Frankly I find these mad hunts to be exhausting, so hats off to those who keep going. Part of me doesn't want to just give up completely, but lately it feels, "what's the point?"
Aw look at me, being a downer.
why the hell wasn't a rare amiibo a Club Nintendo reward like seriouslyBest of luck to those store huntin' tomorrow.
-
Even then, pre-ordering was a little tough for some. I hated how Ness became a Gamestop exclusive, and they opened up preorders at the random time of 2pm. I have one on pre-order from UK amazon, and even they are having stock problems, so I'm not exactly holding on to high hopes…
-
Ness as a Gamestop exclusive personally makes no sense to me. He's part of a series that only has 3 games, barely has a presence in North America, and isn't ongoing. What cruel god would make something so rare be exclusive to a store?
Then again, I've asked the same question for Rosalina and now, Jigglypuff. Target is a department store and doesn't specialize in electronics. Rosalina is one of the most popular Mario characters and Jigglypuff is a well-known Pokemon, since 1998. It doesn't add up.

My Pacman amiibo shipped now just have to wait for Ness

I think it's specifically BECAUSE he's from such a niche series. Nintendo probably doesn't think Ness will sell, as they are want to do with anything Mother related, so they may have concocted the exclusivity thing in order to make him a "Must Have" for collectors.
If he's just part of the general Wave, nobody may look twice, but if he's advertised as special and exclusive? That'll make collectors want him more.

I suppose that makes sense, but I assume enough people who play Smash (especially those who didn't start with Sm4sh) would know him and want him.
Maybe I'm just miffed because it's Gamestop…..as we've seen, they have fumbled badly with important game-related preorders.
-
At least you guys look to be getting restocked. We in the uk have got no restocked of any amiibo. The only ones you can find are wave 1 (some, not all) and then diddy and sheik. Most stores when they get them ready for pre-order charge £5 more than they should and usually don't have much in stack as it is. This new wave looks to be slightly better but wave 3 pretty much never went up for pre-order over here. Wave 3 did but you could only get them if you pre-ordered and that is it.

Now only if that was Bowser skiing down and the koopalings instead of the kids, that would be perfect.
-
There's actually enough reason to believe a lot of these amiibo won't see restocked. Robin and Lucina are going out in limited quantities, with some stores not even getting anything.
I'm with Meta, it's really just bullshit. I'm personally super burnt out and just want Robin and palutena at the very least since they're my two favorites.
-
Lucina and robin are even worse because they actually have a game you need them for. Wii Fit trainer, little mac or any kid icarus character i kind of understand. But the fire emblem ones actually get used as do the kirby ones and shulk yet all of them are stupidly hard to find
-

Codename S.T.E.A.M?
-
Need is a very strong word
-
Not only was there a Regginator Gold mii for Spotpass, today is a new Mii for Mii Plaza: BBY Kyle Mii due to a BBY event 5/30,
-
Today is the big day, everyone. When I come home with my Splatoon copy, I'll give details. Maybe post some pictures or a video or something.
-
Codename S.T.E.A.M?
Yes.
Also got my splatoon with amiibo and shirt. Up to lvl.6 ATM. It has been almost entirely Japanese people for me
-
I decided to get a Silver Mario amiibo. Mostly because it doubles as a Metal mario amiibo

Presenting Meta's Amiibo Serial
[hide]I was so anxious this morning I could not sleep. So I got dressed and had enough time to wait for the earliest train, which came at 6:09 AM. By 6:30 I had gotten to my destination, and within 10 minutes of a brisk dash, I made it to Target.
To my surprise and relief, there didn't seem to be a line.
AT FIRST. This was the parking garage entrance, but apparently people were waiting inside the building via the escalator entrance. Someone gestured to me from outside, and I quickly found my way there.
I was #18 on line, with a few more coming in after me. One guy already got Pac-Man and Charizard from Wal-Mart! See the guy at front, in the blue? I thought he was a secretary guard, given the collared shirt with American flag stitches. He was the one who directed me to the first spot. I suspect he was trying to trick me, but I didn't want to cause a scene. Besides, everyone on the line seemed civil….except for this one little kid who rudely told me "the back of the line's there". (blue shirt calmed him down when people were trying to cut from the other entrance, so I guess he's alright?)
Everyone had an agenda. Jigglypuff, Wario, Lucina, Charizard....one girl had a printout of all the wave 4 to get. Bless my heart, one kid came with his willing grandparents. All in all, everyone was pretty nice about the whole thing.
Then when the store opened up, various Target employees told us about the stock (mentioning Splatoon game copies), and we kept in our line as we all walked to the electronic section. No running, no rushing. Civil.
Their display had:
-Inkling girl
-Inkling boy
-Inkling 3-pack
-Pac-Man
-Wario
-Jigglypuff
-and some wtf reason, Diddy KongI was disappointed that there was no Robin or Lucina at all, but I resolved to not walk away empty handed. People ahead of me were buying 4 and 5 at a time (many people were getting anxious about Jigglypuff), it even got to the point where one of the employees refused to let people take 2 of a character, to make things fair.
I didn't get my first choices, but I was successful :)
Why those 3?
-Wario was a choice more for my brother than anything else (and he was stoked)
-I love Jigglypuff, and figured, if I couldn't best Target to get my hands on Rosalina, I'd best them to get another exclusive. Named her "Jiggs"
-The Inkling girl looked great, and I didn't want the 3 pack. Besides, at least it'd come in handy for the actual game.Toys R Us upstairs had a line too, but I decided against waiting. If it had some Robins or Lucinas, who knows.
So I took the bus to the Gamestop I preordered Splatoon from, and their stock problem was no better:
What unholy world do we live in where there's no Robin or Lucina but there's plenty of goddamn silver Mario (lmao) I love Mario, but that's just superfluous to this amiibo situation.
But anyways, getting there early paid off…..finally. I have a little confidence to keep searching for Robin and Lucina, but if I never get them, I am happy with the choices I've picked. :D
How was it for you guys?[/hide]
-
Managed to get Greninja, Ness, Pac-Man, Jigglypuff, and the Splatoon amiibo this morning; probably spent more money on those things than I needed to, but I'm just relieved that I don't need to worry about getting any more of these things until September. (I had pre-ordered Ness and Pac-Man; Toys R Us had tons of Greninja, and we got lucky in regards to getting Jigglypuff, since we had checked the local Wal-Mart an hour ago and it wasn't there then)
-
I keep seeing accounts that Toys R Us had lots of Greninja, maybe I'll check it out, but I think I've spent too much today lol
Anyways, the amiibo chances are still there. Amazon is going to have specific windows today where you can order each of the wave 4 amiibo. Check it out:

Do they really need to do a direct just weeks before E3?
hey the more stuff they say about games we already know, the more space there is at E3 for surprise announcements
-
Considering Fire Emblem If launches June 26th in Japan, I bet the direct will show off more information there.
-
I missed out on the Amiibo releases today..so far all i have is villager and mega man, seems before the launch, all that was left were peach,Mario,Luigi and bowser and a couple diddy kongs
-
I got myself Two Ness', Charizard, Greninja, and Jiggs all at MSRP and I didn't have to stand in a single line this morning! Huzzah!
-
It he only way I'm gonna be able to get anything now is when I'm in japan. I hear they are getting a restock in June when I'm there of some so I'll look for Shulk and dedede. If I see rosalina I might grab her though just because. I really want lucina and ness but I don't have much hope.
The inkling girl looks a bit weird to me next to the others. It's the stand I think
-
I wasn't really on an Amiibo hunt today, but I did secure a Pac-Man. I have Splatoon 3Pack coming in the mail, along with Wario.
-

Rin confirmed to be blessed by the amiibo gods.
-
I guess I have a Wii U now? My NNID is in the sig, so friend me if you dare. Also send me a PM or something as a heads up if you do so, so I know who you are and can mete out my limited friendspace accordingly.
-
A friend of mine preorder Lucina for me, when Wal mart had their preorders for Wave 4. Amazon just begin putting up Wave 4 order now. Since they got Pac-Man in stock. And they got what times when they will put the other wave 4 amiibos.
