Since we're being shown a kind Sei in this manga, perhaps
! the children will be spared. What if their deaths are faked and the kids are sent to live in Shin's village as orphans? Shin could keep an eye on them, and the two could be groomed to follow Sei's ideal.

I fucking hope not.
-
I wont be surprised if Queen does something unexpected next week
Where is Ryofui?
-
I won't be surprised if the kids get spared.
Would have been easier if she didn't just blurt it out in front of everyone.
-
Can we at least leave things that have clear historical records in peace, please? Sei got too much white in him as it is.
-
Biki… Haha your plan was to kill the king, and now you are there for your other children...
-
I remember the protagonist Rai of Ginga Sengoku Gunyuuden Rai (Rai: The Galactic War Chronicles) also ordered execution of infants of his rival when he conquered all of intergalactic Chinojapan.
It was pretty ruthless coming from protagonist of a fairly prominent manga & anime. That was also somewhat influenced by the king of Qin, the first emperor (Sei in kingdom)
-
Well, if he plans to unify China through war, his hands will get pretty dirty at some point anyway.
But Hara might offer an alternative, where the kids get killed officially, but are in fact living secretly somewhere else, like someone proposed on the last page.
Just not with Shin, lol.

This is becoming better and better. -
ugh they are taking too long to kill them. =_= which means they might be "saved" I hope I am wrong. :/

That would kind of make this whole chapter pointless
-
Queen Mother might be saved, and poor Rou Ai is so done for.
I didnt feel a thing for Queen Mother, Kou-Chan again showing us why she is one of the best things in this arc.

Yeah I felt bad for Rou Ai and the kids but that bitch nah.
-
! Historically speaking she's the only who survives this arc, I don't remember but i think she eventually just ends up dying of old age
-
Read the spoiler seems true since the pics aren't fake
! Rouai got executed. After the execution we see the Queen asleep exhausted from crying. Sei approaches her and talks to her.
! The children are going to live secretly. Sei hopes to meet them all in the future when the country is stable enough and wishes them good health until then. -

! The children are going to live secretly. Sei hopes to meet them all in the future when the country is stable enough and wishes them good health until then.! Ugh, really?
! It makes sense that it can't be publicly announced, death faking is the way to go if they are to live.
! But why are they to live? The story always made a point about how bad Sei was treated, there should be no favours like this. I just favour the "kill possible family claimants" option, given the ancient setting + Sei's treatment.
! Even if I factor that the author prefers to make Sei a nice guy, or whatever "make Sei nicer" crap that merchant girl did, it just doesn't sit well.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
By the way, is there a catch-all word for leaders/kings/etc killing family members to prevent rebellions/stability/possible later claims/stuff? I can only find words that refer to specfic family members and not related to kings at all.

! Just a small clarification nothing about the kid's death being faked, so I don't actually know how that is handled publicly. For now we just know they protected the kids somehow and them living is going to stay a secret publicly.
As for favors! It's really not a favor it's Sei's character(regardless of how everyone thought about it). We just had a chapter not too long ago about him preaching light being the true nature of people(personally wasn't the biggest fan of that weak ass counter argument but whatever) and his decision very much reflects that believe.(So it's very much in character)
Him being spiteful towards his mother because of that past wouldn't fit with what has been established. Despite all her awfulness even when they were plotting in the state of ai we got a scene where Sei thought to himself about how he could give his mother closure. -
"Kafes" is the closest word I can find, and that's more of the name of the place.
Otherwise, "familicide" or "royal bastard", but the former doesn't have anything to do with kings/politics, and the latter doesn't with killing.
Maybe such a word doesn't exist.
-
Ok kind of stupid of me to not think of it but it seems like
! Ryo fui might pull the vader with Sei.

do you guys mean kinslaying, or maybe fratricide?
-

Doubt it.
! sei's father is likely that old king that the six generals served. Remember the current queen mother was given to him from ryofui. If it were ryofui, the queen would very likely know, given how he was her previous lover.
! Can't remember their names.
! Even if ryofei were to pull a vader, it probably won't save him anyway. It might cause the author likes to write sei as a nice guy, but doing that wold break suspension of disbelief to a new level. It is bad enough with the kids already.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

Neither word has any meaning of political stability, so no. I gave up.
-
^ I'm just translating what I've seen from the spoiler pic. Ryofui himself mentions it whether he's lying or not is up in the air.

! wouldnt that mean sei's brother would also be ryofui's son? I don't think he was the type of character to not know or at least find out.

! Why would Sei's brother have to be ryofui's son too?
The argument Ryofui makes is that when he send biki to the king she was already pregnant.
We have no reason to believe that he was involved with another woman that he sent to the harem. -

We have no reason to believe that he was involved with another woman that he sent to the harem.! she can't bare two children? But ya know the king prolly had multiple wives so. But I think this is all an act of desperation anyway. He's on his last injured leg and I don't believe this will change The outcome of anything.

Not just probably the king had multiple wives that's why the royal harem exists.
Sei Kyou was the son of a princess, they have different mothers that's the reason for his former disdain for Ei Sei, being the child of a commoner and I believe the problem was Ei Sei is older than Sei Kyou so he ranks higher in his claim to the throne. -

That was Sei's grandfather, not his father.

Korean translation is out
http://www.mangamint.com/kingdom-437?page=0! Did Ryofui just reveal he is Sei's father? Ryofui is talking then Saitaku and the soldiers are really surprised by something he says. Next page it shows a woman holding her belly.
-
And the spoilers turned out to be wrong(well not entirely) hrhr, damn trolling…
(the place where I read them omitted the joke part) -
Good guy Sei came through! Better person then his mother for sure.
I mean she didn't even acknowledge him and the only reason she had power was being his mother. Powerful families are akways Twisted.
-
Chapter is out.
http://bato.to/read/_/330370/kingdom_v40_ch437_by_turnip-farmers! Glad Sei didn't kill the kids. It's not something Manga Character Sei would do.

For all we know, same thing could have happened in real history.
Just sayin'.

He had scholars burned alive
In the grand scheme of Chinese history hes actually pretty tame but he wasn't exactly a good guy.
-
Still, what I suggested can't really be disproven, unless there's more than just circumstantial evidence.
It doesn't matter either way.
-
lol at Darth back in the day trying to say Kingdom is historically accurate. It made no sense at all for manga Sei to kill off the kids.

I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!
We're seeing nice guy Sei after all. It wouldn't have made sense for him to have done it in this version.

He had scholars burned alive
In the grand scheme of Chinese history hes actually pretty tame but he wasn't exactly a good guy.
Given the era he lived in, Sei was a necessary evil. Compared to those who came after him, (the Mongols, Mao) he was a saint.
-
Bhahaha, Ryofui, a troll 'till the end.
Sei just executed thousands of people as well as bunished thousands of families. While he's not the tyrant history portrays him, he still does the terrible thing that needs to be done to ensure his stay on the throne.
Now I wonder whether the children really are safe… Saitaku did say Sei argued to spare the children "until the very end", unless he's not one of the handful who are in on the secret.
-
Woo! New arc coming up!! Curious to see how the pacing of the story play out now. Will we see another time skip or will we continue to see things progress slowly?? I'm very interested to see where everyone(the young ones) stands in the general rankings.

Summary of 438 by kingmagax
! Ch438: The time to soar
Link:http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3878339030
Summary:
-Sei was surpried to see Shin on top of the usual castle.
-Shin was concerned about QD and Ryo. Sei says that QD’s problem is settled while Ryo’s influence is so great that it will take at least half a year to punish him.
-They then start to reminicise their past, from the time they met during Seikyo’s rebellion to the battle of Sai when Sei’s speech motivated the people.
-With Ryo down the path to unification will be open and the time of sufferring will come.
-SHK has devised a plan to unite China, which has a time limit of 15 years, meaning Qin will unite China within the next 15 years.
-While this sounds crazy as none of the states have fallen, Sei says that he will start by revolutionizing the employment policy, opening doors to anyone with talent from all states, gathering resources, and eventually reviving the 6 generals. He wants Shin to promise him that he will clinch a position in the 6 generals. -

Shit is about to get real. -
15 years to unify all China, want to see Adult Shin with a manly beard soon.
-
So, I assume that means shin is about to be a "regular" general and will need to prove his worth in the first part of the conquest or the next big battle to become one of the new 6? Or maybe he just catapults his way to the 6? But I doubt that tbh. Still waiting to see if the do a small time skip to like six months later.
-
Fifteen years and Qin's own house isn't in order. Just when you think things got easier…
Six Great Generals. Guessing Tou, Mou Bu, and Kan Ki are in, maybe Ou Sen. Leaves at least two spots left. My jaw will hit the floor if Heki becomes one.
-
Ouhon might become of the generals IMO.

Ou Sen is almost certainly one, considering he's historically remembered as the greatest general of the era, plus future spoilers
! He was the one who conquered Chu after historical Shin failed miserably
-
Not even a question, Ou Sen was hands down the best general of the era, yeah.
As for Li Xin's failure…
! Because ShiJi doesn't go into details, most people remember Xin (Shin) for his failure.
But the thing is, he more than made up for it afterwards by taking out not only one but TWO of the remaining warring states. But because he's more known for his failure (which Ou Sen picked up after him and was successful), he's unfairly labeled as a foolish general.
! The fact that he was known to become a Great General by military accomplishments alone, and the fact the king of Qin did not punish or demote him after his failure, and he continued to serve in the military as well as father children, should speak volumes about Li Xin's worth and respect he gained.
! I'm sure Kingdom will redeem his name by showcasing his successful conquests after his failure.
