I already know about the dark stuff with his family since i like to know everything that is happening in Marvel and DC

I just finished a Graphic Novel on my reading list.
Dark Night: A True Batman Story by Paul Dini and Eduardo Risso.
Anyone here who is a fan of Batman needs to pick up this book. It's excellent.
Be prepared, it's not a traditional Batman story. It's a true story about a horribly traumatic night in the life of one of Batman's all-time best writers and how he overcame the darkness that almost enveloped him. It just happens to use Batman characters as representations of his mental state at the time in a wonderful and heartbreaking glimpse into personal tragedy and redemption. -

Can you tell me what's the recent position of Kitty Pryde?
Last I heard anything, she had some cosmic powers and was engaged to the Peter that's Star Lord. I heard Marvel was doing another 'lets remake the world and fuck with fandom's minds!' gig again, and Kitty Pryde was said to be the newest Star Lord. I even saw a pic fo her with the face mask and gun we seen on Peter/Star lord. But didn't hear anything about the actual comic, if they took away the cosmic powers or if they were still engaged.
-
The cosmic powers thing was entirely ignored immediately after the event, her engagement with Star-Lord was blown off because they had a fight, but they're back together now as a regular couple. Also she's still part of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but not Star-Lord anymore.
-
I'm actually looking forward for the new She-Hulk series that is starting in December.

I'm actually looking forward for the new She-Hulk series that is starting in December.
I am as well. Having Jennifer deal with the emotional baggage Banner had to deal with for his Hulk transformations will be pretty interesting. I kind of feel like this is giving She-Hulk the Alias/Jessica Jones treatment, which I don't mind at all. Especially since I've never really had any interest in her stories to begin with.
…
! She's still not totally awesome though.
-
I haven't been reading much Marvel lately, since I only been following Ms. Marvel. So I haven't been following the current storyline with Civil War 2. I know bits and pieces of it like the entire Hulk situation and stuff.
-
I haven't either, but I have seen random scans from the story. I'm still betting that the Hulk in the visions of the future is actually Amadeus Cho and not Bruce.
-
Marvel isn't worth reading. Get your superhero fix at DC, who have recently found great success by giving fans what they want.
-
Rebirth's cool, but you give DC too much credit. They're going to stumble again eventually and recycle the same old stories (not that Marvel is an exception at all). Just look at how Superman just go back his Clark Kent secret identity lol.
-
"They're going to stumble eventually" still sounds a lot better than the shit sandwich Marvel turned its universe into. At least they're trying. Marvel disdains its fans, knows they'll always have the movies to fall back on and keep swindling their readership with an overload of events, gimmick deaths and identity changes, overpriced comics, relaunches and Inhumans books nobody wants.
But I'm sure someone will vehemently defend Marvel and trash DC simply because of their movie output. Like how Superman getting his Clark Kent identity back is somehow sillier than sassy, fun She-Hulk getting mortally injured by a rocket in the tit and turning into a grey, depressed Hulk so she can become a copy of her cousin who was killed off for a sales stunt.

Trying after being the reason for the continuity to be such a mess in the first place with the New 52. Believe me, I agree with everything you said about Marvel. I just don't agree with holding up DC like a messiah when they do plenty of the same things at different occasions. In fact, I legitimately would not doubt that Rebirth was planned years ahead, even during the New 52's conception as either a contingency for sales or a grand plan to get sales from both a reboot welcoming new readers and return to continuity for older fans.
Honestly, I don't recommend either company comic-wise on a week-by-week basis. I just try out interesting series premises for character books rather than being a devout Marvel or DC fan when it comes to buying multiple books, getting into events, always sticking to a character for the sake of it despite the quality of their book, etc. Or just sticking to collected editions of stories you'll already have a good idea about in terms of quality. It's much less painful and expensive that way.

I used to be a die-hard Marvel fan and didn't care about DC. And the New 52 was a total shitshow that turned me off even more because it was just awful, grimy, violent comics that had no respect for what made the DC universe unique. And Rebirth was something they quickly put together at the start of the year as a hail mary. And yet they made it work. And they are producing solid comics and killing it sales wise (much better than the New 52). And we should be shouting that they are doing a good job because maybe it will lead to Marvel getting their heads out of their ass. I mean they have four events planned between now and January. And Civil War II has been delayed by two months… A book nobody likes to begin with.......
-
I didn't know the Civil War II delay was so long. That's freaking hilarious.
Anyways, I feel you. But Marvel will never listen as long as they have no competition in the superhero movie market. But the thing about initiatives like Rebirth is that they ALWAYS have huge sales for the first while that they happen. It's why Marvel keeps renumbering their comics. DC aiming back for old continuity nods and characters certainly helps their quality and attention, but eventually, the sales are going to even out like before. It's just how the comic economy works with these two comic titans, regardless of if they have quality books or not. And when those sales go down, like usual, DC is going to do something desperate to bring them back up. Hopefully it will be with more class and cleverness than how blatantly cheap Marvel tends to do it.
Which new DC Rebirth books do you recommend, if you don't mind me asking?

I would recommend The Flash, Green Arrow, Batman, Action Comics, Wonder Woman and Superman. Justice League has been really boring, Nightwing is good, but not great, Red Hood and the Outlaws is interesting. Oh the other one that's fun is Titans.
-
Flash turns me off because although I love his rogues gallery and lore, the focus on ANOTHER speedster villain with Godspeed turns me off (I demand more Grodd). Batman burned me out years ago. But I'm definitely interested in Green Arrow, Supes' comics, Wonder Woman, and the Titans nowadays. Thanks for the recommendations!

Yeah, I know about the latest Moon Knight series. I've considered picking it up.
The only recent DC series to get legitimate interest and praise from me is New Super-Man. It impressed me more than I thought it would after reading the first issue on a whim.

I actually haven't read New Superman. I'll give it a chance, I heard Blue Beetle is good. And the new Doom Patrol which is not part of the Rebirth stuff, but is DC is good apparently.
-
Can you tell me what's the recent position of Kitty Pryde?
Kaiolino did a better job explaining it better than me
The only thing i can add is that Kitty Pryde and the rest of the Guardians are joining Captain Marvel in Civil War II! Also i found information from the Marvel Comics December 2016 Solicitations that after Civil War II Guardians Of The Galaxy will be stuck on Earth

If anything, it shows how relevant comic characters can be in people's lives.

Detective Comics hasn't been too bad so far, and I'm really loving All-Star Batman. Sure, Batman's character is kinda weird in this run, but the story is really fun, I just love the premise. Most have referred to it as a Batman version of 3:10 to Yuma, which fits for the most part. Plus, this is the best characterization of Two-Face I've seen, where he doesn't base his plans on things revolving around the number 2.
I'm also hyped for Teen Titans, especially because the writer behind it (and the new Green Arrow) use to be a professor at my college, so it's really cool to see his work get such publicity and praise.

He is nailing Green Arrow so far, probably the best of the Rebirth titles currently.

After Rin's recommendation of Dark Night, I read it through today and it was indeed really good. People say Paul Dini's name with such reverence that it's interesting to see how human his problems are like us all. And the panel where Dino's inner Batman holds up the SNES controller and says, "You've accomplished nothing," let's just say it hit close to home for me. It's a book I also recommend.

Oh great another character being portrayed by as yet unrevealed character.

So a friend of mine highly recommended I read Mark Millar's Reborn. All I want to know is, what's the deal with Millar?
I didn't like Reborn much, it didn't seem all that original, and at the end of every issue he keeps talking about his online website/forum MILLARWORLD!, pushing it way too much. I've read bits of Civil War and didn't like it (and haven't heard great things about it anyway), and maybe I just don't like his writing.
He also keeps going on about how his comics are getting movie deals, some of which happened before they were even published. So is it more that my tastes don't align with his style, or is he overrated? I see a lot of people praise him, and I feel like there's something missing.
-
So I recently rewatched one of my favorite cartoon comic book adaptations The Maxx. It's a short but sweet show, only 13 episodes that are less than a half an hour long. So you could watch the whole series back to back in an afternoon and have time to spare. Although you may have to go through it afew times to wrap your head around everything that happens.
I think the animation holds up really well, it has a distinct look to it that's pleasing to the eye. The voice actors do excellent jobs, and the music is good at setting the mood for scenes in a subtle way.
The series is pretty fascinating in all its strangeness. I've found it's most satisfying an experience overall as a psychoanalysis of the character Julie. She's awesome, so it's rewarding to see how her mind works.
But hey, don't take my word for it. Have a gander at the first episode for yourself if you're unfamiliar.
It establishes who the protagonists are and the surrealism of the setting admirably in a pretty short amount of time.
-
It was a good adaptation. Just a shame the comic was produced so slowly they never got the second season covering the second half.
Though maybe that's for the best since the second half of the comic was…. not great.

Yeah, I like how the animated series ends well enough. I will say it's unfortunate to see Sara go to waste, after she gets such an unsettling intriguing episode all to herself. The only reason I don't consider it a serious issue is because the arc for Julie and The Maxx is handled well. The briefness of the show overall takes most of the sting out of it too.

Did anyone heard of this?

Not sure if Judas Contract Arc being animated was announced some time ago or just recently, but either way this is fucking exciting to say the least. Please DC, don't fuck it up.
-
They announced they were doing the Judas Contract all the way back when the original Teen Titans show was still on the air. (There wasn't really a whole lot of point since the show did Terra's arc just fine.) Then they shelved it indefinitely for being too dark but then I guess they got around to doing Dark Knight as a two parter and the Synderverse came out and after that its whatever.
-
Invincible, an Image Comics superhero comic written by Robert Kirkman (who also writes The Walking Dead comics), is finally getting a live-action movie.
http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2017/04/04/seth-rogen-and-evan-goldberg-are-making-an-invincible-movie It's about freaking time. And it makes sense to announce it since the series is finally going to end in less than a year. The whole series is pretty much its own contained comic book universe made to be a love letter to utilizing and satirizing comic book superhero tropes, but still has a compelling core coming-of-age story. And the protagonist is pretty much a teenage Superman. It's also one of the goriest superhero comics out there, so this probably get an R rating.
-
Glad its getting a movie. I stopped reading the books a while ago after following it for years (the rampant murdering and raping in the later volumes was too much on a regular basis), but do plan to catch up on the final trades once it finishes.

I've only read up to the second omnibus, which ends a few issues before issue 100. I don't know too much about what happens later on, but I have heard about the rape controversy.
-
Yeah, it was a bit after 100 I stopped reading. I was fine with the occasional ultra violence and random death when it was appropriate for the story but it just sort of turned into non-stop every issue had some new horrific graphic thing like it was the Walking Dead.
It was just too much too often, it no longer seemed like something to add power to the story… but the other way around and the ultra badness was the thing the stories were being done for.
-
I read the latest issue of The Walking Dead yesterday, and wow, this issue had emotional storytelling unlike anything else I've seen from this series. Hell, Kirkman wote a letter of apology at the tail end of the book, talking about how breaking down in tears when he was writing the issue. This just shows the emotional connections writers have with the characters they create. I think this will be an issue people will talk about for years to come.
-
I check the Marvel Legacy Comic List and all the comics I'm currently reading are still continuing
Spiderman/Deadpool
Deadpool
Gwenpool
Spiderman Renew Your Vows
Squirrel Girl
USAvengers
Champions
Ms Marvel
Spectacular Spiderman
Amazing Spiderman
Monsters Unleashed
Runaways
We also got 2 New Comics Marvel Two In One which has Thing and Human Torch plus Spirits Of Vengeance which has Ghost Rider Johnny Blaze,Blade,Hellstorm, and Satanna! Sam Wilson becomes Falcon again and Jane Foster Thor is going to die which makes sense since Thor Ragnarok will be coming out soon
-
So, is anyone here at AP reading DC Rebirth? I was super behind in the New 52 so I'm getting caught up now in order to get to it.
I finally finished Geoff Johns' run on Green Lantern and it was spectacular… one of the best single-runs of a comic I've ever read.... Then the new writer wasted no time turning it to crap with the "Relic" arc and making the power of the emotional spectrum finite.
Just got to Convergence on my list of books to get caught up in and.... oh boy... 89 total issues including tie-ins.... Gonna be here for a while.
-
So I've been reading the very old Golden Age DC comics. As in Action Comics #1 and just working my way up.
Yeah, they're definitely dated, though still fairly entertaining. And, as has been pointed out before, Superman and Batman were dicks when they first started out. I've mostly read Superman so far, and thus far his M.O. is mostly threatening people into confessing their crimes and/or turning themselves in. But the best one so far is when Superman enacted his brilliant plan to end the poverty crisis by literally demolishing a (evacuated) slum neighborhood, after which the city built a new series of apartment complexes. Cause, yeah, it's just that simple.
Aside from that, it has been exploring some of the history and mythology of the series, like how Ultra Humanite was actually the first supervillain Superman fought (Doctor Death for Batman).

Now wait a minute. Golden Age Superman not only supported, but literally enacted gentrification with his own superpowers? That… I need scans of this to truly appreciate how priceless it conceptually sounds.
