Apparently Space Dandy did very well, while Shippuden and One Piece were close but couldn't reach 1 mil. Soul Eater is still beating One Piece for some reason :getlost:

This is the first time in a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG time that SE beat OP, I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh ok, I didn't know that. The last time I checked Toonami ratings was quite a while ago and SE was outperforming OP back then too, so I just assumed.
Can we please put this bullshit retentionist talk to rest once and for all?
I was just catching up on this thread and felt like pointing out that you were like, literally, the ONLY person talking about this for PAGES, unless whoever you were arguing with had their posts deleted or something.

Yeah, there were posts deleted, lol. I'm not that insane.
Ah, alright then.
Ahhhhh, the age of 5 minute recaps. You gotta love it.
One Piece is finally gaining momentum on Toonami. Epic episodes are coming our way!
Yah man, I know people who aren't even fans of the series on other forums who are dying to know what's going to happen next, hopefully this arc helps kick in more ratings :)
I think that while One Piece aint doing as well as Naruto, its still doing quite well.
im hoping they fix the previews soon.. my Guide says its only at water 7 near the start of Aqua Laguna when i have a feeling its way past that lol

The episode aired last night was Episode 240, so that's accurate.
Wow..they did well on Eneis lobby so far..robins speech was pretty good,…spandams voice sounds so weird and sogeking sounds different (haven't seen the dub since skypia )but so far..pretty awesome
Yea Tonights episode was really good. I always love hearing Stephanie Young say "I want to live". It just gives me chills everytime, though its a shame that we are now going to do the recap episodes.
robin sound so good saying that she want to life. LETS GO TEAM LUFFY AND RESCUE ROBIN.

It'll be good for first time viewers since Adult Swim's Toonami started the series 200 episodes in.
WOw..Funimation actually dubbed the feudal Japan episodes..tonight was the Boss Luffy episode ( not sure the first one or second one)
Mr. 3s Voice is pretty good..Buggy on the other hand in this episode, got to get used to the voice.
EDIT: Pandaman!
Apparantly , its also a christmas episode too.
EDIT2: watched the rerun episode..tonight episode is also a Boss Luffy episode too

yea, but they unfortunately never dubbed the original special for it. but they did dub these two and the other one that happens later in ennies lobby. also buggy's voice is a little weird, but I think I love it. Mike does a great job voicing that character.
So we aren't going to discuss ratings anymore?

well since you asked, here were the ratings for this past weekend. for the most part pretty good. It sucks to see that Deadman wonderland beat it out, but I take greater comfort in the fact that the 2:00 - 3:00 time slots have been able to constantly keep there ratings up around 750 - 800. I believe thats really good for the time range. The 8:30 showing didn't do so hot though. You know, I am glad they put it on at 8:30. but why did they have to do it right at the point when they were airing the edo japan episodes.
Yeah I had my TV, and didn't even care it was on. lol
I was hoping it would be Eniess Lobby fights. How much longer we have left?
this week returns to enies lobby with the continuation of monster chopper and nami's fight. then in about 10 episodes there is one more edo episode then the rest of enies lobby
The 8:30 slot is being replaced with King of the Hill.

The 8:30 slot is being replaced with King of the Hill.
Already knew that. lol I saw the news earlier than you. Wished I had posted it a little bit in the moring but life got in the way. XD
8:00 - DBZ Kai - 1.001 million
8:30 - One Piece - 799,000
12:00 - DBZ Kai - 1.501 million
12:30 - Kill la Kill - 1.191 million
1:00 - Shippuden - 1.046 million
1:30 - Inuyasha - 1.042 million
2:00 - Gurren Lagann - 842,000
2:30 - One Piece - 879,000
3:00 - Deadman Wonderland - 838,000
here are the ratings for this past weekend. For the actual toonami block, these are great ratings. 4 shows in a row got to hit the million mark and no show went below 800. I also find it interesting that One Piece was able to beat out Gurren Lagann on the night of its finale.
I am also sad to see that we are losing the 8:30 slot, but I kinda saw it coming with how it did rating wise. I just wished that they had tried it at a time when they weren't on the Edo Japan episodes. those filler probably didn't help it out.

I remember a certain interview from the man who created Toonami said if One Piece were to go down under 400,000 viewers than they'd remove it… That was over 3 years ago. So, my women's intuition is telling me not to worry about the bad and think about the positives in the future.

I'm really late, but there was a point where freaking One Piece had an 8:30 PM timeslot? How and when did-?

yea they put after the DBZ encore at 8:00, and it started about 2 weeks ago. pretty much it was a repeat of the episode that was played last week. it was put on as an experiment, but they put it on during the edo japan filler episodes so it didn't do so hot, though it did do better this week. having said that, it isn't official that it has been removed just yet, because there is no actual official announcement of it, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up.

Well this is the internet, so… Never trust sources from 4chan unless you know it'll happen. lol
I'm just surprised, considering I was so used to having to catch it past midnight. …tbh I haven't been watching, due to lack of time and the fact this is kinda where the anime took a little tumble....it's still in the middle of Enies Lobby fights, no? Waiting week by week must be painful.

Yep… they just aired the episode where Luffy reaches Lucci in the storage room.
Edit: Nevermind, other schedules have now updated to show this change now.
Before anyone starts panicking, this is only being displayed on the backdoor schedule at the moment (and King of the Hill isn't being listed in its place, not sure where they saw that). All other television schedules are still showing a One Piece repeat being listed for April 4th.
The backdoor schedule has been wrong before and is sometimes just a preliminary listing with a finalized decision being made about a week beforehand (when, y'know, the schedule actually gets posted on the main AS site). This could end up being nothing (I hope), and that final decision could come in part from the ratings that slot got both this past weekend and this upcoming weekend.
We'll see.
I'm more inclined to believe it this time because of its status as an experiment anyways, and due to its pretty poor performance.
But hey, if what you've said is true, I'm all for hoping for it too.
Wouldn't that mean there be three episodes of KOTH in a row? lol
so I just checked my T.V guide for tonight and it says that One Piece is still on at 8:30 tonight. So it looks like it hasn't left just yet.
It's being replaced April 4, not today
One Piece needs to air more than once a week, its the only way to catch the mainstream audience attention. its doing great in its time slot and it definitely brought new fans to the series, but we need something more effective. If funimation and toonami wants one piece to hit the big numbers, it needs to air 2-3 times a week. I remember listening to animenewsnetwork podcast and the guys on funimation talked about how if cartoon network toonami still exists one piece would take off in the states.
Some countries in Europe did it right by airing it multiple times a week and look how popular it became. I remember seeing that in France, one piece is the best selling manga in 2014 and it expected to do better in 2015. It continues to grow there.
One Piece is never going to catch 'mainstream audience' attention in America. The time has long since come and passed. It costs Toonami money just to air it once a week, nevermind 2-3 times. Also Toonami only airs on Saturdays, One Piece airing on Adult Swim is out of the question especially since OP is not nearly as big as the MacFarlane shows. At least they gave it a chance there, however brief it was though.

One piece has been only been growing in popularity since funimation got the rights to it. The fact that funimation is planning a theatrical release for the upcoming movie proves how big one piece became. I feel some of you underestimate how one piece grown immensely in popularity in the past 5 years. Go on youtube and its definitely the most talked about anime/manga there. One piece popularity isn't within the anime fandom anymore it already broke that.
I wouldn't say One Piece will never catch the mainstream audience, it's already gained much ground from where it was, and I think we all know that it's got a lot more to go.
It would be nice to see it on more than once a week though…
On another note, as much as I doubt it'll happen, I hope that the Lovely Land arc is skipped by Toonami. 10 filler episodes, which I really don't care for, at all. Or at least give it a marathon so it is finished in the matter of a few weeks. It seems like so many other shows are getting Toonami marathons, but not One Piece... it'd also help to fill the increasing gap between the broadcast and DVD releases.
Some fans are never satisfied. Honestly we should be lucky were still getting it at all, hell it only seemed like a pipe dream to get it on television. Sure it's unfortunate about the pacing of the show, but that's just the reality you have to face,if your gonna watch it.
Yes, having One Piece back on TV was certainly a pipe dream at once. Toonami only airs once a week, yet we expect special privileges to be given to One Piece?
To be honest, it's quite popular enough for me if the series continues getting dubbed. There was a time where things didn't look so bright, but now they have the next season before you even think about it. It's great. And it's great that it gets to air on Toonami once a week.
Well, it is kinda interesting that is has a marginally lesser popularity in North America than almost all of the international fanbases, but it's only marginally so at this rate and at least partially attributed to the mutating TV landscape in the past 10 years.
I would say it's "popular enough" in that we get it on DVD, we get the new movies, we get the manga, we get all the new games now, we have 2 dedicated streaming options…not much more you can ask for unless you want it to be as big as Star Wars or something.
Heck, they're still dubbing it past the episode #400 mark. Few localized shows get that luxury.
There's really no need to worry about One Piece getting left behind in North America anymore.
Dubbing a single anime episode is expensive, and Funimation has dubbed over 400 episodes and they're still going strong. The demand and fanbase is there and it's been growing every year.
I've always viewed Toonami as a way to get people interested enough in the show that they'll eventually go online and check out the anime on Hulu/Crunchyroll/Funimation or buy the DVDs. Streaming will eventually overtake television as a service to view entertainment media.
I'm actually very satisfied with how well One Piece is doing, especially the fact that it is broadcast weekly. And at this point I certainly think that with time it could certainly get bigger than DBZ was in its heyday, just based on how far its come since its lower points.
Yeah, after several road bumps and having an ominous future in the United States, One Piece is finally doing well. There isn't much that can be done from here on out, though; even if it's not the most popular anime ever, I think this is the best it'll ever do and that's perfectly acceptable. We have it a lot better than a lot of other places in the world.
If you still think One Piece isn't getting the treatment it deserves, just remember the era when it was completely taken off TV shortly after FUNi started dubbing it, when we stopped getting the video games, and when the manga was 11+ years behind the Japanese publication with no plans for a speedup in sight. We really don't have it bad anymore.
I was just thinking; do you think One Piece could have worked if they aired from the beginning, on the weekdays like they did back in the early 2000's? Except uncut funi? Because I beleive that the 4Kids dub of One Piece was actually popular. So with a better dub, and a new generation of kids, do you guys think it can work? I mean I think kids would latch on to Zoro quickly if they were to see him 5 days a week. And then once they reach deep into the Alabasta arc, they push it to 8pm on saturdays or something?
More importantly, it would fit in REALLY WELL with what Cartoon Network currently shows on the weekdays.
And now this is probably more wishful thinking than anything, but I wanted to say; I think that One Piece might get a lot more popular in the US once the manga ends in Japan; And I say that because One Piece is pretty much the most popular series in Japan, and it's the highest selling comic (not just manga) written by a single author ever, so that might give it some attention when it ends since it has become such a cultural milestone in Japan. I think that they can push the One Piece manga again in the US one more time, especially since comic book sales are increasing in the US (I think?). I mean it's probably wishful thinking, but still.
Update on ratings by the way.

Overall really good ratings for One Piece and Toonami in general, and it probably because of the fact that Intruder 2 has started.
One Piece marathon on December 26th. The marathon will cover episodes 320 -326, the final episodes of Post Enies Lobby arc and the first episode of the Ice Hunters arc.
