@Kibagami:
Those of you who watch the anime….. Watch and re-watch the opening where they animated Gear 2. It definitely looks like a projectile attack (to me) because Luffy doesn't even move to hit Lucci. It's almost like air explodes out of Luffy's hand.
And in this week's chapter (418), look at Luffy's Jet whip: it doesn't look like his leg stretches; He merely kicks the air and BAM! It hits Lucci.
actualy, if you watch the opening, there is a very quick frame when u see luffy punching. and in the manga, when blueno gets hit, if you look at his arm u can see it moved and was coming back.
my theory on gear 2 is luffy pulls his muscle up or something, already stretching them, then he uses his strength to stretch the already stretched muscles(I put it better in another thread). Its like stretching a rubberband and then grab most of the rubber band with your hand until the part thats showing is the original size of the rubber band. then stretching the showing part as far as it originally did. Normally the rubber band would break, but this is one piece. but it does strain luffys body. (my evidence is luffys muscles pulling back in his legs) luffy does soru by
gear 3 is like folding a rubber band in half(maybe folding it twice) and stretching it is far as it would if it were normal. It hits harder and puts less strain on the rubber band, but requires an extreme amount of strength to do so, and I think it might reduce luffys speed(hard to move in that state) this is why I think its like a one shot move. It would obliterate even lucchis tekkai if it were to hit(evidence is it shattered the think iron door) but it would be really hard to hit lucchi with it.
those are my theories of the gears. agree with me or not.
