I couldn't see the broadcast episodes coming out sooner than a week after airing in Japan, doesn't Toei usually work on each episode to the last minute? If they are willing to provide early scripts and animation for each episode it could be do-able, Funimation are capable but I think Toei is the company that needs to make the bigger stretch.

Yeah, pretty much. Dialogue recording and post-sync can be time consuming, at least if they don't want to half-ass it. A week after sounds about right, though it could be longer.
I'm thinking part of the reason they are considering this is to get the new episodes' dubs in the can when/if the Funimation dubs reach this arc in the eventual future. That and perhaps they're thinking they'll get better viewership with the new episodes vs older ones acknowledging it will be years before they catch up to the current arcs.
Might be kind of difficult to do mid-arc like this though with a lot of new characters that will need new voice-actors for them, and I would assume they'd want time to audition for the right voices.
-
So it looks they were talking about doing a simulcast dub for One Piece. Thanks for the announcement. The Pod Cast was really good this week.
That's pretty much how I feel about it. I mean it's cool idea, but I don't how they will do it. I mean there are people who just only watching the dvd release and stuff.
They talked about that, simply speed up the DVD releases. Also we're currently living in the age of streaming. If anything DVD/Blu Ray's are what's slowly becoming dated.

And here is the absolute, 100% official announcement on their blog. I guess funimation really cares about the Bepo fans…
-
What exactly are Bepo fans??? and i love what i read from this part "The Straw Hats wrap up their adventures in Thriller Bark in Season Six, Voyage Four – releasing April 7. Be on the lookout for Season Seven shortly after. Coming your way Summer 2015" With them saying shortly after that hopefully means that Season 7 still start releasing in June
-
Here is my prediction for the Season 7 release.
S7V1: 385 - 396
S7V2: 397 - 408
S7V3: 409 - 420
S7V4: 421 - 432
S7V5: 433 - 444
S7V6: 445 - 456Thanks! Was looking. For this once I heard the news. Seems accurate- 12 episodes per set for six sets. That should be good and steady. Can't wait for the Sabaody episodes, and oddly enough, I'm excited for the crew whereabout episodes.
Though we know when they say summer it usually means August. Not a big deal to have a bit of a break between seasons, but I sure would like for voyage four to come early. I think you guys are being a little too hopeful by saying June.
As far as broadcasting goes, let's talk about some of the plus and minuses of it.
+episodes years before we would've seen them; stuff in the current arc.
+possibily a faster way to catch up, assuming the DVDs aren't slowed down dramatically.-possible voice acting inconsistencies; starting in the middle of the arc means less consistency when the DVDs finally catch up to the arc and have to pull those actors back
-possibly slowing down the DVDs releases. -

-possibly slowing down the DVDs releases.I think Josh mentioned trying to speed up DVD releases a bit to close the gap between the DVDs and broadcast dub, if they pursued this.
Also, what exactly do you mean by voice actor inconsistencies?

It's really Bandai's decision if we get more dubbed games again. I'm not sure how much stuff like the Toonami run or possible broadcast dubs would help factor into Bandai choosing to have One Piece games dubbed.

-possibly slowing down the DVDs releases.Josh actually said getting this would mean an acceleration for everything (including DVD release) to close the gap. So I assume we'd be going back to the Season 2 Voyage release days of constant OP if we can convince him to go for this.
-
What's this, a reason to watch the anime again? :O
-
^^^Yeah, I have my reservations about a broadcast dub but I would definitely go back to watching this show on a weekly basis if this ultimately came to pass.
-
The big thing that pops out to me in regards to the broadcast, and someone correct if they covered it on the podcast, but what if someone gets sick? Or goes on maternity leave? Or something?
Would they be replaced for X amount of episodes? A halt? If replaced, would it be changed for DVD release?
That is just what is running through my mind.
Either way, I am sure FUNimation will handle things well and look forward to seeing what they end up doing.
-
I assume funimation will look over these episodes again and possibly redub certain lines before they release the episodes on DVD (they did so with season 3). I'm not sure how much we should worry about "sick days", but possible maternity leaves could pose a problem I suppose.
Honestly I'm less concerned about voice actors and more concerned about the overall quality of these episodes if they try to speed up the process. Catching up certainly sounds like a good idea, but I'd hate to think the quality goes down a bit because of it. I mean, season 3 turned out fine overall, yet I still can't help but feel the quality of these episodes are kind of "off" in comparison to the rest of the dub, even after some of the redubbing.

I have a question pertaining to Funimation Subscription, i see that Fairy Tail episodes will be streamed two weeks before the DVD release, does the One Piece episodes ever stream weeks in advance?

Yes. 373-384 will be streamed on March 24th. Here is their schedule for subscribers:

Yes very nice, that means we can watch the episodes at our leisure or will they be live streamed at a certain time

It's all added at once, and you can watch whenever.
-
Great news with the upcoming season 7.
I hope they will do a double release with the first twovoyages. (what originally was the plan for season six)
But due (ofcourse…..) delay it did not happen.
That will be nice after all we had to go through with those astonishing delay's.
Even though that is not entirely their fault. -
As i stated in an earlier post that if they say the reasoning behind them delaying so much was because they were dubbing lots of episodes and they start releasing at a much more steady pace then all will be forgiven :) and releasing the first two voyages at once will be a super cherry on top
-
Its doubtful we will see 2 releases at once, but with the delay before season 6 and the gap between voyage 3 and voyage 4 (and possibly the beginning of season 7, depending on which month its released) they should probably have a good amount of season 7 done, so theres a good chance the season will move at a steady pace.

Even though that is not entirely their fault. It did happen with Season 6 with for people that didn't order from amazon during the period of time when Season 6, Part 1 was only available for amazon. For season 7 I expect the usual every other month release that we usually get with One Piece.
-
Good to hear that we'll be able to watch the episodes on March 24th. Now I know how to ration my last four episodes of the current set. Sure will be nice to be able to watch two new episodes a week instead of one.
Maron- are you sure he said they'd speed up the DVDs releases to close the gap? I just listened to that segment again and didn't hear it.
It would be weird to get half the dressarosa arc and then wait a few years before getting the first half. But overall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
-

Why must we wait so loooooooong! melodramatic flailing I don't think I can take a break from One Piece that long. Was going to wait to continue my re-watch of the dub until the rest of Thriller Bark comes out, but that's over a month away still! T_T
-
I wonder why no one has announced the solicitations for May, i am assuming nothing Funimation wise was announced
-
There is no One Piece set for May. I figure that was going to happen, since we are getting the final volume of Season 6 and Collection 12 in April.

what about other Funimation shows?
-
Darker then Black Season 1 is getting a speical edition blu ray release.

Yep, check out 1:34:00.

Yep, check out 1:34:00.
"If we do go down this route it would also mean an accelerated timeline with everything else in-between, just because we would want to close that 2020 gap; shave some years off it"
So yeah, accelerating the DVD releases…
-
Wow so even if they do accelerate, it will take up until 2020 until we on the same pace as Japan
-
No, he said it would take until 2020 if they continue at the current pace.
-
Well then lets hope they do start the broadcast dub then, so they can start releasing the dvds at a quicker pace
-
You know, with all this nice news, if I hear one more person go on about One Piece not doing well here, I swear I'm going to slap them.
-
Elan you know they actually joked about during the podcast lol about people thinking one piece would be canceled due to "low" sales
-
Well now, if this isn't just a bucketload of exciting!
Season 6 Voyage 4 hits in April! Season 7 on the way!! Simulcast Broadcast dub possibly on the horizon!!!
It's like it's One Piece Christmas!!
-
Yeah it is so refreshing to get good One Piece news, usually when there is news it is about a delay and more droughts
-
You know, with all this nice news, if I hear one more person go on about One Piece not doing well here, I swear I'm going to slap them.
It truly surprises me that after all this time some people still have this mindset. One Piece may not be the most incredibly popular anime over here but its pretty clear at this point that funimation has on plans on stopping anytime soon.
-
Speeding up thw production to close the gap. I just wonder if that means more episodes per voyage, rather than more dvd sets.
-

Don't just hope if you want it, let Josh know! He said this can happen if people show interest in it, and like Zach said the #OPBroadcast hashtag is a nice way for FUNi to keep track of that.
-
I would much rather prefer having more episodes per voyage but it seems they are going towards the latter
-

More sets. Increasing the number of episodes for every Voyage at this point wouldn't make any sense.
-

so i would have to do that on twitter and tag Funi?
-
You could send a message to Josh Kocurek about it and use the hashtag.
-
I know this shouldn't be shocking, but the DVD listings are out for May, no One Piece. Hopefully we'll get some June or July.
I hope Funimation starts releasing some other fun titles soon. I really want to see the Steins Gate movie dubbed.
-
I'm really thinking June.
-
I'm thinking ether June or July.
-
Unless Funimation has a sick sense of humor when they said shortly after S6V4 then Season 7 should more than likely start in June
-
You could send a message to Josh Kocurek about it and use the hashtag.
It's annoying how they do everything through Twitter. Not everyone has a Twitter.
-
you are right sister. I DO NOT HAVE THE TWITTERS.
why cant they use face booj.

Why not send an email in that case? I doubt it would hurt.
