Can we do a Samuel L. Jackson month?Feel free to nominate that theme next week when I open up theme nominations for March.
-
I started to nominate Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory but if theme months are a possibility, that should be held off for a Gene Wilder Month.
So, in light of that, I'll say Pee Wee's Big Adventure if only because there's a fair chance that a lot of people here might not have seen it.

Oh I do like the idea of a themed month and yes Gene Wilder is the best Willy Wonka
… it also helps that Gene Wilder is one of the few actors whose movies that I followed ..or even knew the name of. Sure I may like some of Leonardo DiCaprio for example, but can't name more than one or two movies he was in. Whereas Gene Wilder, Mel Brooks, Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise (SP?), well they were some of my favorites and my mom's and I likely remember more scenes then the movie names XD
-
If a Gene Wilder month is a thing, we should watch The Producers or Young Frankenstein.

*Begins chanting *
Young Frankenstein
Young Frankenstein
Young Frankenstein -
Hey don't forget Blazing Saddles for Gene Wilder month.
-
If it's Gene Wilder we're talking about, why not the Alice in Wonderland movie where he plays the Mock Turtle?
(Note that this is sarcasm and Young Frankenstein wins all of the awards, in my eyes.)
Also, movie night was great fun, Galaxy, I hope to join everyone for next week's.
-
For Gene Wilder..
Yes, Young Frankenstein is the best.
Next for my faves are
1-Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
2- Haunted Honymoon (bonus- also starredGilda Radner & Dom Deluise(as Aunt Kate!!), was written by and directed by Gene Wilder)Others to note
The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother
Blazing Saddles
Silver Streak… to be honest the main trouble with a Gene Wilder theme month would be there are not enough Saturdays to view all the good ones!
-
3rd Week Nomination: Mulan
No link necessary
<3
I really LOVE this movie but hands down, the german synchronisation is SO MUCH better than the english one :( And it's a rare thing of me to say that.I nominate TITANIC
-
Dammit guys I'm working on Saturday night.
Everybody get up, it's time to slam now. We got a real jam going down..
Haven't seen Space Jam in like a decade. (I have it on VHS!)
-
… to be honest the main trouble with a Gene Wilder theme month would be there are not enough Saturdays to view all the good ones!
The most you could do is five.
It'd be about as easy to do a Mel Brooks month though since three of Wilder's best films were with him.

Well then we'll just have to have two Gene Wilder themed months, won't we? Eight straight weeks of his best films, each movie getting better than the last, all leading up to Young Frankenstein as the grand finale, each week will get Wilder and Wilder!
! Ugh, that joke was terrible. I'll be in the corner, thinking about what I've done.

No, well done. We like puns here. Pun away.

Nomination for third movie night… Snowpiercer.
Sorry I missed this week, hoping it is early enough that my normal Saturday evening shenanigans don't overlap.
-
@Below:
Also, movie night was great fun, Galaxy, I hope to join everyone for next week's.
Glad you enjoyed it! I definitely enjoyed streaming it.
On another note, one more nomination slot is open for week 3.
-
Galaxy sure enjoyed the money he's getting from the subliminal messaging he put into the movie.

I swear to God, you guys make me watch Space Jam again, I will murder you all in your sleep!

Too true Mel & Gene were one of the best comedy team ups in my childhood, I still love the films

No, the joke wasn't horrible, IF the pun got a laugh (and it did) then it did the job! (*and it did)

Can I get a pity vote for Guest House Paradiso?
-
Maybe a Robin Williams month ? Or this is too soon ?
-
NIC CAGE MONTH NIC CAGE MONTH NIC CAGE MONTH
Also Tom Cruise Month
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also watching Gremlins right now. Way better than Zardoz. Movie is a bit dated especially in the beginning and the plot kinda makes no sense but it sure picks up when the Gremlins become...Gremlins and holy fuck, what the fuck is this?!? this is a kid's movie!?! talk about tonal whiplash AGHHHH
So yeah, good movie...

I could go for a Robin Williams month after a Gene Wilder month
-
I would definitely vote for a Robin Williams month.

You've heard about the original script where the mother gets decapitated and her head rolls down the stairs, right. But yeah, between that and Small Soldiers, Joe Dante can never seem to decide whether he wants to make a kids movie or a horror movie.
Also, all this talk of Gene Wilder and not one mention of The Producers. I am disappointed.
EDIT: Okay, Captain Ugly actually mentioned it. Thank you.

No problem, I really like musicals it's a shame that most people don´t like this genre.

I'm with you in that regard. I love musicals (Broadway or film) and everyone always gives me a hard time for it.

Hook for Robin Williams month.
-
Hook for Robin Williams month.
I've been meaning to watch "Hook" for such a long time, so I'd support this too!
We might as well just go ahead and nominate for the March theme. No use in holding it off until next week. Just nominate it however you usually would a movie (there's no 18 choice limit for this one, since it won't be a standard poll).
-
I nominate surrealist month so that no one will vote for it.
-
I nominate Gene Wilder month.
-
nominating Liam Neeson month
-
…are we already nominating months? :wassat:
-
…are we already nominating months? :wassat:
Yeah, I went ahead and opened it so we can get it out of the way.
-
Alright, in that case, I nominate "Non-Disney 2D Animated Feature Films" Month
-
Muuuuuuuuusical month
Non-disney pls
-
I'm gonna throw out "Disney Animation Month" as my nomination. For all intents and purposes, Pixar will be a separate category if anybody wants to throw that in.
And I forgot to mention this earlier, but nominations for week 3 are closed.
-
I don't know if I should vote for a movie I have seen and enjoyed or for one I don't know yet. Hmm.
-

Check out the IMDB links in the first post if you're interested in the latter!
And did you get a chance to watch Zardoz yet?
-

You're really eager for me to watch that movie. I feel like you're trying to recruit me into a cult. :P
I have it scheduled for today though. -

Hmmm ….
thinks of the irony of the one called Purple Hermit nominating non-Disney musicals.
wonders if can get away with jokes about The Color Purple or Purple Rain…..:ninja:.... Shame my vote will be going to a 'Wilder and Wilder' month, then a 'Round Robin' month, then a 'Liam to the teeth' month,

Robin Williams month hasn't been nominated yet. Would you like to do so? :ninja:

Sure I'll nominate a Robin Williams month, He's was a fave same as Gene Wilder and Liam Neeson was
And like Gene, there are too many Robin movies for a single month
There's some great ones, My top 4 favorites includes (but not exclusive to)
Hook
Mrs. Doubtfire
Jumunji
PopeyeThe voice acting on some animated films (Aladdin, Happy Feet) are great, but for a Robin Willams month, we should have the actor instead of a drawing, Robin's facial expressions and 'body comedy' were wonderful and showed his range as an actor. So many today are set into one role that covers so many films, a 'action star' or 'dumb comedy' or 'tough guy' only and doesn't show other expressions. While I like (and named) his hilarious comedy films, Robin was also just as good in more serious roles.
Speaking of which… I just realized that Robin played in the 1996 Hamlet... I need to see that but won't nominate it here due to its lenght
-
I nominate a Gremlins month.
If that won't go, then I nominate a Stanley Kubrik month.
-

The first one wouldn't work because there's only 2 movies in the series, but the second one will!

I'll specify in the nomination that it's "Live Action" Robin Williams only then. I'd prefer that as well (we can see his animated features in other themed months).
