@Bigivel:
Did Natsu ever did anything to look for Igneel? In all of the manga I only remember 1 thing about it, 1st chapter! We had another chapter talking about that, when Gildartz appeared and talked about Acnologia, but for the rest I don't remember him looking at all, not even during unrelated missions he looked for any hint of Igneel.
It was the first chapter, and only came up any time he met a dragon slayer. So a little more than you thought, but still not nearly enough for a huge emotional impact. I guess a way I can look at it positively is that basically his dad died, so people might have an emotional response to that. Not as huge as it could be, but that could be a reason. I just have so many problems with the series, that I couldn't be bothered. Overall it was a good chapter.
@Rocky1125:
Because it's the perfect series to use in this forum when it comes to fans accepting anything. Alot of people here consider One Piece a masterpiece, but it really isn't. It's a damn good shonen, but it's no masterpiece. It has many problems. But people here love it to bits anyway.
I'm just saying that it's the same thing on their side. They also love FT, flaws and all. Just like we love OP, flaws and all. You shouldn't mock someone just because they like something you believe has many flaws.
And I'm aware I've mocked them in the past, but I'm trying my best to stop doing that now because it's really just ignorant unbecoming behavior.
I know you probably want to be done with this conversation, but I just want to touch on the masterpiece part. I've heard people claim things being masterpieces for various media of all sorts. I've heard Lord of the Rings, Madoka Magica, A few of the Final Fantasy games, and JoJo's Bizzare Adventure (just to name a few). Out of those mentioned, only a few I might consider a masterpiece despite inherent flaws. I feel that people use the term masterpiece as a way to just give something they love that much more attention. I personally never say anything I like is a masterpiece, because I think that was originally supposed to be a whole different definition than what it is now. I think the best thing for you is to assume that when people say masterpiece, they are trying to show their love for a piece of work, and try to impress people using one word. That's how I've taken masterpiece at this point.
@Doffy.:
You realize that a series can be a "masterpiece" while also having flaws , right ?
And please stop with the whole "OP has flaws" to justify this pile of garbage .
Agree with you here, with my above point being the same. Only thing that would make your second point invalid to me is if the person took an example in One Piece and compared it to a situation in Fairy Tail that was similar, and made a good argument.
@Purple:
Well, it's been awhile since I checked up on this series, so might as well while I'm here.
Oh Tartarus is over? Probably not, but I guess there were dragons or something?
Seems like the Demon stuff is mostly over, except END will still be a thing. Dragons souls were living in their respective Dragonslayers bodies, which apparently their souls were powerful enough to destroy all the faces. So yeah, the current impending doom is over, with another impending doom on the horizon, which if they beat that impending doom an even greater impending doom is after that.
I know I'm probably a bit late on this, but congrats on your promotion!
