Nice chapter, but I still can't help but dislike this whole deal of getting teased by making it look like they all just died. Just goes over the line and makes me stop caring. But it's not that I didn't enjoy the chapter and resulted developements. :)

I think it was a fine chapter, I mean, no one should've thought they would successfully get past Bambina or that they died, so it had some fun with the explanation that was inevitably going to follow.

I don't dislike this chapter, but it completely negates everything. All it did was offer convenient excuses as to why the last chapter meant next to nothing.
Last chapter meant everything. The execution was very good, the setup very exciting and we got hyped because we saw how powerful and fast Bambina really is and because we wanted to know what had happened. This chapter only completed that hype by showing us even more clearly the ridiculous levels of speed and strengh feats that Bambina is capable of in 0.1 seconds.
I'm sorry to say but if you got hyped purely because you thought someone would actually die or stay dead if they died, you were being very unrealistic.
I prefer fast-paced series, but I also appreciate the author is going to take his time to explore all this stuff.
Yeah, that's fair. I didn't post during the discussion on Toriko a few pages back so I don't intend to bring it up again, I'd just prefer if it slowed down a bit (at least now since we're getting a sort of breather) because while it's always had a pretty brisk pace, it's not always handled as well as it could be… but that's for me.
And on the whole I still enjoy Toriko, so it's just a preference.

I fell behind the discussion a bit. But how can anyone think the hype was if 4HKs really died? It was just to hype Bambina nothing else. And there had to be an excuse for what happened last chapter. Zebra's poison dull was kinda forced but as the team's attacker role he was to be crushed first, and maybe just him, as he is the one attacked. Still far-fetched but I'm not saying it's not.

I disagree. The strengh of the chapter was in its execution, in its intensity and in the interest brought on by the mystery of what had happened. Since we already knew from the start that they wouldn't die (or wouldn't stay dead), finding out in the next chapter that they didn't die, doesn't diminish the chapter at all.

Actually, with Coco's ability to sense the future, its not really far-fetched that he saw the need to give Zebra a poison doll.
Coco can see the shadow of death on someone just by looking at said person, remember? He probably saw Zebra's and came up with a plan.

I highly doubt that anyone thought that someone died. It's just the sheer pointlessness of it all. Barely anything came out of it. The excuses, while somewhat passable, are too convenient.
It's just like in Naruto where some super surprising and huge event just took place, but in the next chapter it was all revealed to be a genjutsu.
Bambina can get hyped, but you don't need more "Teppei in a bowl" situations to do that.
Also, Coco, Sunny and Zebra still had to go through the same shit Toriko went against Heracles.

Coco with his Poison Life and clairvoyance can pretty much avoid any tragic outcome as long as he can see the shadow of death hovering on whoever he looks at. He's pretty hax, I must say. Poison Life however seems to be very limited. Just a Zebra doll and some poison legs and Coco was left severely weakened. He has to watch out, or next time could be fatal.

While I agree with many of your points, Coco never said they were no match for Bambina. He said if they used the flower for someone on the Master level then that would only mean they could not possibly match Bambina, so they didn't use the flower.

Toriko is like a crazy adventure cooking show were people eat monkey balls or other weird stuff but people do eat bull and chicken balls in the real world and they even eat brains and coffee beans that animals have crapped out which the people that eat them say gives them a better taste lol.
Toriko is not exactly like one piece because that is based on a different story mode were the bad guys (pirates) are actually the good guys that beat the people that go to far and good guys (marines) have heaps of bad guys in their ranks that abuse their rank that people cannot trust them and only do what they say out of fear of getting killed and the human world arc did end around the same time as east blue did so its not really rushed like some people have been saying that's all.
The eight kings are just in the story to make the 4 kings more powerful and they could even go to rule one of the 4 parts of the planet each north,south,east and west because 4 of them and 4 directions to rule.
The bad guys in the story that owned the good guys of the story in part 1 which is human world are planning to go into outer space and have already been collecting the food that the good guys are only just starting to get.
The eight kings are more like yonkou from one piece ruling over their own territory but unlike one piece they don't seem to have a goal of being number 1 in the world so i just see them as things to challenge those worthy enough to pass their challenges/tests which lets them eat food that gives a large boost to their current power level.
