Boku no pico ?
(Just for the 16 characters.)
Just finished reading the first chapter and i gotta say i really liked it and am definitely interested in seeing where the author will take this series .
Just caught up to chapter 6. Fun little series; definitely can't wait to see where it goes. I also love the casual humor intermingled into the action. Those types of manga are my favorites. The laser guy gets me every time, haha.
Bought it from booklive, will use it to train my japanese, haha.
read the first 6 chapter..until now it's not bad but it's not really great either…it has potential though,i'll keep reading.
I really liked the first chapter and now that i see he's was the Mangaka for Oumagadoki i'm totally hooked.
Decided to give the series a chance. I'm glad Horikoshi Kouhei was given another chance, and it seems to be doing well to volume wise. Good thing too. The cast has pretty cool designs all around, and it's a fairly large cast if the entire class eventually gets the spotlight. The series did a good job making a likable hero character and having him show off his hardships in the beginning. It'll be fun to see where the series goes.
Also, chapter 7 is out.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Actually, very well apparently. I've heard a lot of people consider this series to maybe fill the void Naruto's going to leave. Dunno if it's that good, but it's a good time for a new series to get the spotlight, and glad this series is getting the chance.
I'm liking what this manga has to offer so far.
! A likable protagonist with sort of an asshole-ish rival(?), mentor with a tragic background despite being the hero in shining armor to the public, the overall setup with individualities being common (also, now the high school setup). Especially the individualities offer much potential, and with top heroes and villains, as well as possibly other hero academias, there's even room for some world building. It's not like this manga has blown my mind in the seven chapters already released, but I can see this growing on me over time!
E.: added spoiler tags just to be sure.
I really hope that Viz does a simulatenous release for this.
They have a fame of getting the shit from Jump on the digital magazine and ignoring the good ones, only adding them afterwards. I'm especially surprised though that they ignored such an american manga like Boku no Hero. I mean, it's bound to strike fame with their readers and it's clean of ecchiness and improper 'stuff'. Why would they push it aside? Seriously, wtf.
At least the got on their senses and finally put Souma in there.
OH, BTW, I read it all and it won me over pretty easily. It's fantastic. I specially love the characters quirkness and weird faces (comedy) and the hero absorved world.
In Viz's defense, the last time they tried to back Kouhei's work it got cancelled really quickly. Now that they see the Japanese audience seems into the story, maybe they'll try to get it in. Hopefully.
The costume of that big guy looks similar to something, but i can´t quite put my finger on it.
Is it an angel from the Evagelion movie?
ESJ missing out on this was a case of awful timing. The Jump Start initiative presumably was conceived late enough to miss the Hero/Yoakemono/Mitsukubi Condor round (you're nuts if you think this sort of thing is a snap your fingers and it begins the next week deal).
Chapter 19 Chinese: http://www.imagebam.com/image/110654364578691
Another Amazing Chapter!
! And even injured in a critical place, All Might show us why he is the number 1 hero and what really is "PLUS ULTRA"! AMAZING.
! The villains are so broken. The black creature, can regenerate O_O, and has a strength almost like All Might, ridiculous! But even with all that he is pulverized in the end.
! Now we have Facepalm guy, that whatever he touches disintegrates and Mist dude, with his stupid teleportation. Can't wait for next chapter!
Alll Might is one heck of a superhero! Would give Superman a run for his money! :D
And the 8 is out:

Chapter 8 was sweet! Liked the "Deku" declaration, massive points win with the girl, gj Midoriya!
Also, have you see the guy's mask who said that Bokugou's ambush was "unmanly"? That guy carries an Akumetsu mask, AWESOME!!!!! 8D
If you don't know that is a manga about an "anti-hero" who kills himself and a evil guy one at the time, and not small criminals and such but powerful people in big positions who actions and plans had ruined the lives of thousands or millions of people. It is a pretty good story and also a sad one as each time he dies to basically die for his sin to kill somebody, a new him replaces his old one and everybody believes he is still the same though he is not. A bit confusing at some points of the story but defintely a good manga. Am glad Horikoshi made an Akumetsu reference! <3
I like the title of the chapter.
Here's the series twitter account: https://twitter.com/myheroacademia
And Horikoshi-sensei's new twitter account: https://twitter.com/horikoshiko
It seems that for every next chapter he posts a sketch celebrating it's release.
I dig Horikoshi's drawing style so much! I was already a fan with Omagoudoki Zoo, and was a bit sad with his delivery in Budge, but now I think he is in his brightest moment as an artist. He has this Oda-thing that is the combo of great drawing skills merged with boldness with his designs. And he seems to be a good writer, I found the 1st chapter charming, with a good emotional touch - also, he foreshadows a lot
! like, you can see Deku's costume sketch in the first chapter, as well as the girl-with-horns ability in the running test (she is kinda running, kinda skating in some liquid).
Liking the story 'till now, can't wait for more chapters.
! I wonder is he is going with a slice-of-life thing and if he is planning to conclude the manga as the students graduate; or if he has already planned their adventures and misfortunes as super heroes…like, the relationship of them with the Government, the trouble of keeping their personal life, how they organize their vigilante routine (like the Spider-men first trilogy had done) and so on.
This new series is amazing! I'm eagerly awaiting this every week as my number 2 manga right now!
I really like Izuku. He's like a Naruto who's less obnoxious and actually trains for his powers. I really hope we don't find out later that his dad is a world class superhero or something…
I'm really interested in most of the classmates now too. That octopus-looking guy has one of the freakiest powers I've ever seen.
Also...in Group I, is one of the students a pair of floating hands? Invisibility or Buggy-type quirk?
Chapter 9 is here! http://bato.to/read/_/285569/boku-no-hero-academia_ch9_by_fallen-angels
3 Chapters in less than week - we're being spoiled by the scanlation team! I'm loving the US Comic style covers too!
Infinity Girl's power is kinda lame.
But as with otherwise ability manga, the interest will be what applications she uses it for probably
Also Kacchan must have a really stinky super power
I wasn't sure if I liked the series or not, but these last chapters have been a blast! Definely liking this, and its nice seeing Deku bring out his tougher side this early instead of staying wimpy. The kind of character that walks the line of being obnoxious, but manages to stay on the right side.
And I don't know if Kacchan just proved to have the most epic type of sweat or if he just got disgusting.
Anyhow, I love how unique all their powers are! And I hope Infinity Girl won't be sidelined and will actually have a decent role.
Also, that demon-esque girl and frog girl look pretty cool. Can't wait to see more of them.
Infinity Girl's power is kinda lame.
I think it has a shit ton of applications, especially if she can actually turn it off. Like, take some huge object, make it weightless, throw it at an opponent, then cancel the weightlessness. Or save people from being crushed by making what's crushing them weightless
Kaachan should teach Iida how to play the villain right….
read chapter 9..it was really good
So I hear there's some hype behind this series. Does it have a main plotline already, or just introductions and monster of the week type of story so far?
So I hear there's some hype behind this series. Does it have a main plotline already, or just introductions and monster of the week type of story so far?
Main plot is bascially that Midoriya must train hard to become a vessel for AllMights "All for One" power as ALl Might will sooner or later kick the bucket. To get into the right form to not explode into thousand bits when he gets that power he must train a lot, thus we have the Hero academy plotline. Also eating hair to gain said power. And lots of broken limbs getting magically healed by spit.
Also given the raw…yeah that would be a spoiler, so not telling. :P
Okay, that sounds interesting, and I really like the little what I saw of the artstyle so far. And there arent many chapters to catch up to.^^
Wait, I don't remember Ochako touching Deku when she slowed his fall during the entrance exam…
...ok, what I thought was a failed grab was actually her slapping him in the face.
And yea, she can turn off the skill.
So I hear there's some hype behind this series. Does it have a main plotline already, or just introductions and monster of the week type of story so far?
From the perspective of someone who hasn't looked at the spoilers, its got a good set-up so far. Nothing major, but its enough to keep the series going. The center characters have all been introduced but there hasn't been much character developement aside from the main character. Right now we're getting into the first proper fight of the series, and its surprisingly entertaining.
And its been a while since I was entertained by a fight.
Infinity Girl's power is kinda lame.
Gravity powers are amazing and can be a ton of fun, once the characters start using them right.
Obviously at the outset she's not going to be as broken as she could be. But gravity is an AWESOME power.
Yea, gravity manipulation should be insane. I wonder if any writer ever tried exploring some situation like… touch the ground/'Earth', reduce [the sun's] gravitational pull on it to 0, and thus fling the Earth through space somewhere.

Well, there was the Earth Flame in KHR and the eyepatch guy from Psyren who could bring the fucking rays of the sun like a satellite lazer from outer space!…I wish they got those series right.
The Earth flame in Reborn! was probably one of the lamer, more general applications of gravity powers tbh, but that's also in part due to the manner in which it was defeated
She can cancel the gravity but shecannot attract or make things heavier like Fujitora does.
^That and she gets vertigo if she uses it to much/on to many things
Basically, her quirk's application is limited to "make things weightless by touching them". She can't attract nor repel, she just "turns off" the particular object's gravity. So far, we've seen her use it to stop Deku from tripping, crush giant robots (by lifting them into the air and cancelling the power, presumably), save Deku from getting splattered, reduce the weight of her clothes to increase her speed (very slightly), and throw a softball into space.
If she manages to touch an opponent to activate her power, I imagine they'd just be floating there helplessly. She mainly fills a more support type role I'd wager.
Also, I was reading through the chapters again and paying more attention to the students this time, and I found the invisible student.
Chapter 7 Page 16 Middle Panel
http://bato.to/read/_/284440/boku-no-hero-academia_ch7_by_fallen-angels/16
One of the students is a floating school uniform.
Another thing to note is that black haired kid in the middle, whose face doesn't appear in the battle groupings.
He's the bike helmet dude in Group J!
In reality we don't really know if she can do more than that, it can be more expansive! Their powers description can be updated!
But for now it is just that.

I agree. But I hope her power doesn't expand just yet…there are so many ways you can use weightlessness, I feel it's more interesting to see how she uses that limited quirk rather than expanding it.
Like Deku for example. up till this point, his quirk was pretty much "part of the body gets stronger for a while, but is mutilated afterwards". He can punch and jump, but that would cripple him in moments. So he (rather creatively) limited the quirk to activate only in his finger for the shortest moment! I was blown away when he did that! So amazing!
I very much agree. It's the constraints that make power interesting - unlimited expression is Nickelback, but constraints permit iambic pentameter & all that goes with it. Eventually our protagonist might become a god, but for now we have the fine pleasure of watching unlimited power in a constrained environment. I'm more excited about this series' first 50 chapters than its latter 500; in all likelihood it'll fail in the same way Beelzebub did, and for the same reasons. Still, it's a phenomenon. Let's all dig it while it's diggin.

Hm…Beelzebub huh?
Beelzebub's main problems were the rushed pacing and having too many characters set up to do something only to have it all done by Oga instead. It's action was also rather bland and the powers were not very creative...It tried too hard to be a battle manga when gag was its strong point.
Hero Academia's setting is perfect for battle manga, and the many different quirks means that fights won't be boring. Even something straightforward like Kacchan's explosions can be used creatively and in fresh new ways. I can't say much about the side characters yet because we're still very early in the manga, but I'm already hooked on the entire class of 1-A.
I've got high hopes for this manga. I don't really see it going the way Beelzebub did, but I guess it's too early to say for certain.
Okay, that sounds interesting, and I really like the little what I saw of the artstyle so far. And there arent many chapters to catch up to.^^
Thanks. Think I can get you interested in reading World Trigger as well?^^

For me Beelze's biggest problem was that at some point it stopped evolving the "family" idea much anymore with Oga, Beel and Hilda. A human-demon family would have been fun yet we got new and new and new charas fighting fights that got solved by a couple punches of Oga. It had been more fun to see Beel grow up, in the sense that he can enter kindergarten and Oga and Hilda having to worry about getting money/jobs and being seen as a loving couple by everyone around them and so on. Throw in a couple bad demon factions that wants to kidnap Beel for their Lords for some reason like becoming King of the underworld themselves or maybe even have an angel faction step up that wants to "protect the world from getting destroyed by the monster Beel" or whatever for a couple fights, but just concentrate on the comedy and family moments.
Well, for me at least. Beelzebub had a nice theme with the family/father and son figure unlike the million friends and battle themes we usually got, it just sort of forgot about that theme, at least that's what it looks to me.
That said, HeroBoku will remain for probably a long time. And I like it a lot.
I would like to see more similar quirks though. Basically the gravity one, why not show a villian with the same power? Or another already veteran hero who got the same quirk? It just feels weird if each quirk is a one of a kind thingie.
What I noticed is that Asui Tsuyu (if that is her name, not sure tbh^^), the frog girl heroine, is really well-liked in the fanarts of BokuHero. She already got more fanart than the Main heroine and it seems to grow un tumblr as well. Might become the fanfavorite of this manga. WOoldn't wonder if she gets 2nd or third place in the popularity poll similar to how Konami in WT jumped up there in no time.^^

I've looked through the RAWs and indeed, Froggy plays a bigger role in the coming chapters.
! When the class was ambushed during the trial of rescue, the black mist warp gate villain scattered the students to different parts of the rescue training facility. Deku ended up with Froggy and Grapehead at the water emergency area, which is where Froggy got to shine with her quirk.
@James:

Sure why not.^^ But isn't it in danger of being cancelled due to low rankings? Or do the volumes sell enough and got a boos from the anime maybe to stay for a while?

Yeah, she's pretty cool later and has an interesting design as well, especially her feet and how well she can climb with them and such. I like her a lot though the class president, the girl with the big boobs and seemingly highly intelligent, is also pretty good.^^

Nah, it was in danger to get canceled around chapter 10-15 but made a recovery, increased its sales and stabilised its rankings. It got bad rankings lately due Naruto taking all dem votes due it soon ending but now that Naruto is over it is back to the top ten again. Hopefully it can get higher rankings the next weeks as there will be the last 5-6 chapters of the Invasion Arc rankings. And will it was for two weeks in the bottom five one of those two rankings does not count due WT not being present back then in Issue 43, so there was no voting for it. Right now with its anime running it should be safe for the next couple months as Toei seems to make a full 2-cours anime with WT or even longer. If it did increases the sales will be seen with Volume 9. Hopefully that one can stay for three weeks in Oricon and get over 200k or near it, that'd be nice. But yeah, it will stay for a while.
Biggest problem WT has is besides the ton of characters that it is pretty unlike your usual shounen, but you will see that for yourself when you read it and compare WT's Main charas with others from Bleach, NAruto, OP, BokuHero, etc. It might not be to your liking but it was to mine and I like how the figths are handled in the Invasion arc. If WT doesn't fuck it up till the anime ends it might manage it to become a long running manga over 200+ chapters. Though right now given the rankings and sales fo its first volume it looks like BokuHero is the manga who will be around for a long time (though I fear it will get pretty boring once Midoriya manages to control his power properly/gets more power-ups by All Might).^^
I was a little worried about following this, but I'm relieved how much more better it's getting with every chapter. I just feel that begining chapters could have been a lot less exposition heavy with writing that made the whole "quirk" and "individuality" thing alot less lame sounding. Hopefully it sticks *crossed fingers for the third time
And hopefully *crosses fingers again
There would be some homage to the Space Whale

That there is a legitimate concern. For Deku to achieve his dream, he's gonna have to be able to use All For One without crippling himself…but if he gets to that point, that would mean he's got full control over his power, so there'd be less challenge for our protagonist.
That point still seems pretty far away. I'm hoping that point only comes up like...near the end or something. As an epilogue sort of thing. The main story should be about how Deku overcomes his struggles with being a vessel, and probably something big about a villain or something.
! Not knowing how to read Japanese, I'm already pretty interested in that Hands Everywhere Disintegrater guy simply due to his design.
Half Naked Weapons Girl (Yaoyorozu Momo) does look interesting. Apparently, she was offered admission to Yuuei through scholarship, together with Half Ice Half Flames Boy (Todoroki Shouto).
But the ones I'm REALLY interested in knowing more about are Cellotape Helmet (Sero Hanta) and Falco (Tokoyami Fumikage). Especially Falco, since he hasn't shown much of anything yet.
Deku's a really nice name. Rolls off the tongue easy. It also gives me images of Majora's Mask's Deku Link which makes me even more sympathetic to little Deku…
I've read the first two chapters. It's been pretty good so far but I dislike the whole 'All For One' ability.
This kid said he wanted to be a superhero without super powers and has already given up on that?
It looks like it's going down the Katekyo Hitman Reborn route. All Might = the Hitman Reborn that uses 'something' to awaken the potential inside the protagonist - then it'll end with something like "it's been you all along" .
I did like Reborn up to a certain point and managed to catch the weak ending but someone please tell me that it's not going down the same route as Reborn and Tsuna.
Chapter 1 was interesting, with a nice little backstory.
Chapter 2 was good. The training was sweet but the thought of Izuki getting powers all ready or even at all doesn't sit well with me yet.
