but why did OP Ultimate Adventure got dubbed.
That was a while back, back when it was on Cartoon Network at a respectable time (not Adult Swim) and was a bit more mainstream.
Of course, I think the game did badly in sales, which is probably one of the reasons they didn't release a new OP game for a while, and why they don't dub them now.
Basically… its not popular enough.
-
No wonder sales did poorly; there was like one copy in each gamestop.

Which is probably because the games released before that (during the 4Kids era) didn't do so hot, either.
-
it sucks that the dub is so far behind, too bad there is no way of them to speed it up
-
There are a number of other language dubs that are caught up or at least much farther than us. Funi just moves at a slower pace, I guess.
-
They also have to dub a large amount of other shows at the same time, so catching up on One Piece can't always be their top priority. As long as they can maintain the quality voice work then I will be satisfied.
-
If we didn't have the nasty gaps between S3/S4 and S5/S6, we wouldn't be so far behind. But complaining won't do anything, so I'm just happy they are back to dubbing stuff. Fingers crossed we don't have another huge gap between S6/S7.

Episode 356 commentary features Mike McFarland, Sonny Strait, Marcus Stimac, and Felecia Angelle. Marcus is a huge, HUGE fan of One Piece. Mike admitted that he had a full plate when Wolf Children and Attack on Titan came along, which is why he took a break from directing One Piece near the start of Thriller Bark, but said that he always keeps an eye on the final quality checks.
In the Booth features Chris Sabat this time around.
Random side note: Eric Vale REALLY shined in the fight against Absalom. Some of my favorite Sanji moments are in this set.

^Thanks for the info! Looking forward to everything this set!
-
Wait, have the sets already shipped? Damn, that was fast.
-
Yeah, I've just checked on mine and saw it was reserved too. Jeez, I still haven't even finished the first Voyage!
-

Took to my rationing method, did you? It just feels like it came quicker since we actually had to wait for the retail release date for the last one.
-
Mine has also been Reserved and my credit card has been charged as well so it looks like it is finally on the way to me… But man, I don't have the will power or control that other people have to be able to ration their sets like that. Unless I have other things to do, once I get it the set I put it straight in the DVD player and watch it in one sitting, lol.
-
My S6V2 is on the way too. And I'm about to check to see if my Voyage 1 is in the mailbox.
-
Voyage 2 also at long last restores the practice of including the trailer for the next DVD set as an extra.
-
That's great news, I really missed getting that. Remember back when we were 2 trailers ahead of the current Voyage?

I guess so! I've managed to be a lot more patient with episode viewings but I guess it's also due to focus on other things in general. It'll probably be a bit till I'm able to adjust to regular One Piece releases again, not that it's a bad problem to have.
-
Oh hey, Voyage 2 just arrived. I was so busy I wasn't even paying attention to the fact that it had already shipped. Good thing I have some time now.
-
Grand Aventure and Grand Battle in America sold amazingly well.
Anime games usually only sell well if they're fighting.

Those other dubbing companies have had the series for much longer though.
For the 7 years that FUNi has had the series, they've released 360 episodes (and by the end of of the year, that number will be 372), which is definitely an impressive feat.
And for the record, the closest dub is the Taiwan dub, which has adapted up to Episode 654 (but they've had the series since 2000).

Hm…Colleen's Oars voice doesn't sound exactly the same as it did in the trailer for Third Voyage. In that trailer Oars just sounded like a dumber, slightly deeper Luffy voice but in the actual episodes they use audio effects to make him sound a bit more monster like and have a bit of an echo to his voice. How strange...
-
What does everyone think of the voice actor for Gecko Moria, now that we've heard a good chunk of him?
-
Cover art for S6 V3 is up on amazon. I like!

Looks nice, thanks for posting

-
Hmm, not a fan of that artwork. I don't like the way the characters are kind of floating in front of Oars.
-
ugh. they USE THAT IMAGE OF USOPP ALLREADY ON S1V1.
Its similar, but actually not the same. Ignoring the fact that his clothing and slingshot are different the lines on his hands and face are drawn slightly differently (albeit in a similar position) and his pose isn't exactly the same, as his left knee is pointing upwards more.

I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about his voice during voyage 1 (especially since we were never fully introduced to the character), but after finishing voyage 2 I actually really enjoy his take on the character.
-
Season 6, Part 3 cover is really nice.
-

I like it better than his Japanese voice.
It sounds more menacing. Not so over-the-top silly like the original (although it still is a tad bit silly, but thats ok).
-
Cool cover. First time Second Gear Luffy appeared on the DVD cover, too.
The Usopp art is mostly recycled from the Collection 5 box art, but it's fine nonetheless.
-

Sadly it was this volume or Sailor Moon for me. I choose Sailor Moon. I regret nothing.
-
Not really that big of a fan of this cover, but they can't all be winners I guess. It's particularly off-putting that they used such a similar Usopp pose to his art on the Collection for this cover but whatever.
-
Ok, so I am currently watching through voyage 2 and I have to say, Ian Sinclair did a fantastic job on Brook's death is not an apology speech. did not disappoint at all.
-

ooh, $25 also .. that's only a few dollars more than it would be during a RS sale. Think I'll go for that
-
OMG, the Laboon reveal scene is every bit as amazing as it was years ago. These are the moments where the dub really shines.
EDIT: Of course the very next episode ruins the flow completely by being almost a complete clipshow from the Laboon arc. Damn it Toei, we got the point in the last episode….
-
Whenever one of you gets to that point, how well did they handle that one Usopp scene? You know, that one. That's definitely the thing I'm most excited to see in this next set.

If it is the scene I think you are talking about, then yes, it was done very well. But lets be honest here, do you really expect anything less from Sonny Strait.
Also question for people who have voyage 2, have you watched the in the booth section with Chris Sabat? If so, did anybody notice the blurred out picture that was behind him when he was talking? Can anyone tell if that is something one piece related or something else. I can't really tell due to how blurred out it is.
-
WOW!
Did not get the chance to do anything anime related in the last couple of weeks.
But damn this is going in rapid speed… voyage 3 already for pre-order and 1&2 allready in stock! And i was thinking to spread out the two FT sets untill the One Piece dvd's got released.
Guess i forgot the time or somethingStill i have too wait till the wife says yes too buy them....

I noticed that too. It was an image as part of a slideshow on a computer monitor hanging up on the wall. One or two other images weren't blurred, and other times it was off. But then that one image keeps coming back, and it gets blurred every time.
-
they have to blur it for copywrite.
-
yea, but for the most part, they just have one piece related stuff around the actors in the "Booth" specials, so there should be no copyright issue to blur it out. So either something from an different series got through that had to get blurred or it was something one piece related that they didn't announce yet….I can see both being the case.

I'm pretty sure that's an Attack on Titan poster.
-
ah okay, that makes more sense then. Just wanted to make sure.

No time to listen to the OPP Film Z commentary. Maybe I will some day. Current job is 10-14 hour days with 4 hours of commuting daily. Please let me know if there are any small news announcements on the commentary!

well the commentary itself is awesome to listen, but as for any announcements from josh there really wasn't much. pretty much is that he has one piece marketing plans all the way thru 2020, and that the box collections of the anime that they are starting to release in Janurary will be limited edition with only about 300,000 being shipped. They might shipped more depending on the demand for it. Also he said that he hopes to give news about season 7 in the near future, but that there really isn't much to talk about it at this moment.

This in particular is awesome to hear. From the sound of that it means that One Piece is doing well enough for FUNimation that they're confident enough to plan for marketing and selling the series for over another half a decade. By that point in time if we continue at least a somewhat stable release pattern we'll be well into the Timeskip (and probably even at Dressrosa) in the dub, which is pretty exciting to think about.

Well…. without considering how shitty the anime has been as of late. ^__^;
-
For an animated series that has been running for over 15 years on a weekly basis practically nonstop, I'd say that the anime is doing as fine as it possibly can right now, but to each their own. I prefer not to be outright cynical about it, even if it's not perfect. Not to mention that I'd much rather get the chance to hear One Piece in English than… not get the chance to hear One Piece in English.
