You won't have coins to spend in Trophy Rush if all you're doing is Target Blast. 900 is chump change

Psh! I don't need to play Target Blast anymore, since I've already collected all of the custom moves.

Still, for 900 coins, I can buy at least 4 trophies in the shop that I don't have (with discounts, of course), whereas that's not guaranteed in Trophy Rush. The times where I've played a full round of Trophy Rush, I only came away with 3 new trophies per session, and the other 10 or so were all repeats. Sure, 900 coins may be chump change, but blowing 900 coins and not even getting a handful of new trophies is a chump move.

Not when your so close to having all the trophies that the shop doesn't sell any new ones. I have not used the shop in the last 2 weeks. Would rather spend 900 coins for the chance to get 1 new trophy now than wait on the rng of the shop. Also i often get 1-2 custom moves i don't have in trophy rush. Not always but it is often for me

The blinking bug eyed husky is right. I guess it's kind of good thing my nephew and cousin have had the game all to themselves since I unlocked every character though I doubt they unlocked that much.

In that case, you might want to look up the trophy list and make sure that the ones you're missing aren't locked behind challenges. Just ask Purps…

900 for 4 new trophies in the shop? Thats a reach. Getting 3 new from Trophy Rush is a great run. I only have 5 trophies that can be obtained without the panel, so theres no good option left for me. But if I were still going for that 600 challenge, Trophy Rush would be my first choice

I've done every challenge except get 1000 KOs. Unless i get 20 trophies from that i think i'm good

Well, considering how asinine the menu layout is…

Yeah, the buttons look cool and stylized and all... but when basically everything you want access to is three or four menus deep? That's not such a great design. Especially when its just giving half the screen to a giant "SMASH" button, even though most of the time you'll be wanting to do Classic for unlocking, Online for... Online, Customize or mini-game. (Smash Run, 100-Man, Batter and target could have all been in the same menu)

And wasting the first screen showing the challege board in a giant spot which you'll rarely check? (especially once you've cleared out everything...) As opposed to Customize which you'll ALWAYS want to use, (that should be available pretty much on EVERY screen in EVERY mode) or the vault?

Its so bizarre since everyone raved about how good and excellent the smash menus are, but in this game at least they're... really not.

Hell, they even had two screen to use at once, there was really no call for it being that split up.

(Similarly the DS itself is a bastard when it comes to customizing. If you want to change the time for instance, you have to go in, and then exit, a total of 10 screens! TEN! To adjust the time!)

Completely dissagree, I get 4 parts and 30-35 trophies in each run, 900 coins, that's not much compared to clasic mode runs, but those are riskier and the exploit is a pain in the ass to do, and the trophy rush is shorter.

I had more fun doing smash runs, as in those I would get like 5-7 parts, 5-7 powers (If you still need to farm those), tons of coins, and a despreciable ammount of trophies.

The menu is Brawl was pretty great. Split up solo and Smash but gave more real estate to Smash of course because it was the main mode.

Now I understand the idea behind the Smash 4 menus but it's just so jarring how impractical the design is.

Besides, the store is useless beyond 550 trophies, and whatever shows up by then is 2500 coins, like the koopaling trophies.

And yeah, the menues are too slow in this game, the vault should at least ocupy the spot of the damn challenge board.

This is pretty much why I never played trophy rush until let's say ~650s or so. The shop still had new trophies coming in but they were mad expensive, so I never had enough coins to go into trophy rush.

But I'll take something on the spot that's new and right there over random chance otherwise

Of course now my coins are just overflowing because I've collected all the RNG ones (really would've been nice if they gave a milestone saying you collected the non unlockable ones)

I think Sakurai greatly underestimated just how much people would care about customization. Like he believed competitive players wouldn't touch it and everyone else was a casual who wouldn't give a shit. That's been my theory on why custom things are RNG, too.

Lower difficulties don't pay out very well in terms of money or items.

The heck! I find myself starved for coins recently, then again that's because of the trophy shop. Not that I have ~585 or so, I'm barely seeing any new ones at the shop anymore. Guess I'd better do some more Classic.

(also beating All Star with the rest would bump up to over 600 trophies, two challenges in one!)

The all everything (and the full 3rd panel) ARE trophies. So it's only 2 to go.

Yup, that'd be the difference. Higher difficulties just pay out way more.

For instance, the free entrance difficulty of 2 only pays out 10-20 coins tops on the roulette, but even going up to just 3 (which costs about 80 coins to get in) increases the average drop to 60-70, and makes it much more likely to get item drops of 2-5.

So yes, I imagine if you have the skill from previous games to just start at difficulty 7 for everyone you'd have plenty of cash.

Shields really help when it comes to Master Edges's attacks, especially that one where it slices you super fast and then knocks you away. It's hard to see exactly what he does next, so I would go for a hit-and-run approach. Master Edges might be unpredictable, but his actual attacks are fairly easy to dodge with proper timing or shields if necessary.

Yes. I need to be more cautious. It's nice with Bowser, because the first two form of Master Core, while they damage him, they have a hard time launching him off the stage. But once I get to Master Edge, that safety net is over.

Oh god, I actually had a run through with Ganondorf (who I suck with, but he hits hard enough to make up for it). I managed to make the final hit on Master Hand before he turns into Master Core, but Master Hand was in the middle of his 'card' attack where he throws out cards that try to throw you above screen. The transformation forced me to stay on the card and killed me, costing me a life before I could even start fighting Master Core.

Was so livid.

Remember, when it's going to do the multiple slashes and the big one, if you can get under the hilt, you can escape most of it.

I just do classic 9.0 intensity with characters I main. Don't want to bother with equipment. Custom moves are a joy though … the other night I discovered Palutena can actually go under the stage with the proper (and ideal) set up.

Pic of the day. Jackpot Opportunity is one of the Events in single-player mode where you aim to collect 1,000 Gold to pay off your loan. This scenario uses Coin Battle rules.

It's Past Your Bedtime sets up another predetermined situation for a single-player Event. In this one, Jigglypuff needs to put every fighter to sleep at the same time. There are quite a few scenarios like this that aren't simply brawls.
