Attack on Titan: Why Genocide Is Sometimes Kind of Okay
-
anyone got a link?

Well…that was anticlimactic. This whole arc has been going for a long ass time and...that's it? They made a plan, it went off without a hitch and that's it, coup successful? I guess it's...realistic? Doesn't make for an exciting story though....
-
Very satisfying chapter. Can't wait for the next!…
UGH!
-
Is it time now? Annie, gimme
-
Great chapter once again. I really love the current arc.
-
God dammit, ERwin. Stop being insultingly overpowered. You're making all of our supposed antagonists look useless.
-
Is there a link? I can't seem to find an English release yet.
-
The official release is where it always is.

I never read it there. Also that site doesn't work on my phone.
-
On a non-complainy note. It was nice to see the gang all celebratory and happy again. It's been a long while.
The "humans made a choice as a whole to resist the government" thing reminded me of Fullmetal Alchemist though for some reason.
-
I continue to like the fact how much of a deal killing a person is in this series. Erwin looked shocked when he heard Levi killed some of the MPs. It gives another nice touch of humanity… to humanity. This arc is full of stuff like that.
-
I thought there would be more to the whole political stuff, things kinda ended quickly.
Is there a break next month? -
I don't think there's a break. I really do get the feeling something big and unexpected is coming. It is too simple. Really can't think of what, though. What exactly would make these chapters the most impactful in the series? But if this all pays off in a spectacular way, great.

Kill off either Erwin or Levi. I still think they're too wise and competent for this series. I'd go with Erwin to die. He doesn't really have an arc so far, he's just hyper intelligent and always in the right. But if they were to include an arc for him I'd welcome it. The main characters need to come into their own and step up to the plate at some point.

No such dislike for Hanji? I mean, I get the issues with their characters, but there still are drawbacks and weaknesses to them, out of the three especially Erwin, with losing his arm, he probably won't be able to take part of the expeditions anymore, he's not particularly a main character either, despite his increased screentime this arc.

I'd actually say no. Erwin and Levi don't have weaknesses. Their failures have been due to not being omnipresent and omniscient. Those weren't failures they would make. Those were failures ANYONE would make.
Erwin especially. And him losing an arm doesn't phaze me much because I've never seen him fight titans. His skill is as a commander and strategist. If he got amnesia or some kind of mental condition then there'd be more at stake. Just for an example there.
Hanji doesn't feel as unstoppable/infallable as those two.
-
Possibly the author skips ahead now and shows some action with new weapons against titans. And after that he shows the torturing/questioning of the king, his followers and the men of the cloth, executed through the Survey Corpse. I'd like that

I don't see how despite that those don't count as flaws at all, though? Making a mistake is a flaw. Especially since it's always related to not considering certain details in his plans. He could have put together the whole weakness thing considering what they knew about the Armoured Titan and the Collosal Titan and their supposed abilities, but he didn't realize it before it was too late. He could've been a smarter kid and not let his father die or not rush like that and get his arm torn off. I get it a little more with Levi, because he's been a lot more prevalent in this arc and the only real drawback he's had is his leg injury. Doesn't mean they aren't drawbacks at all, though. The kidnapping arc would've probably gone a lot differently were Levi there. See, they aren't perfect and that's what matters to me, even if I wish their flaws were more explored.

chapter is out on mangastream

finally a good chapter after a while.
lately this manga has been a bit of a borefest for me

Wow, the action scenes here!
-
Oh man… things like these feel GOOD. Something big's gonna go down soon.

I'm not sure if it's boring because of the subject matter itself. Or because it's been way too easy and the opposition the SC are fighting don't feel competent in the least.
-
Meh.
What an anti climax, I thought the nobles controlling the king would be more devious with a trump card under their sleeve. Instead they are just some dim witted old men who care too much about status.
-
Guess its time for me to catch up with this again.

D'awwww~
Hit me right in the Cute.

D-Piddy always puts on a good show.

The October issue of the literary magazine Da Vinci published a feature on the Attack on Titan manga with an interview with the creator, Hajime Isayama, this month. In the interview, Isayama said that he initially estimated that he would end the manga after about 16 volumes, but extended his plans to properly depict the emotional narrative and the growing number of characters. Isayama then added he personally wants to end the manga in about three more years.
The creator had said last year that he aims to complete his manga in 20 book volumes. His editor Shintarō Kawakubo said this year, "The serialization is slated to end in three to four years."
Hajime Isayama's manga depicts the battles between humans and the giants who now rule the world outside humans' walled enclaves. Isayama launched the series in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009, and the manga now has over 36 million copies in print.
Kodansha published the 14th manga volume in Japan in August, and Kodansha Comics will publish the same volume in North America this December.
Kodansha Comics publishes the Attack on Titan: Junior High, Attack on Titan: Before the Fall, and Attack on Titan: No Regrets spinoff manga in North America, as well as the original Attack on Titan manga. -
Hmmm, heard this news weeks ago.^^
-
I thought that news was from his editor while this one is from the author himself.

Wtf, this thread.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2891094&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 An example of what is wrong in the internet. A still critical review of AoT and Madoka and ten seconds later haters appeared. Talking down some of the better anime series in town with nitpicking on minor issues (that all animes suffer) and blowing them up to major failures, as an evidence of the stupidity of the people who like these animes. That is a kind of a sport it seems. Makes me regret some posts in the Fairy Tail thread (I loved it once and I understand people who love it until now). -
So, I finished part 2 of the Attack On Titan dub. This is such a great marathon series.
I think some of the looseness on the dub's part was a lot more noticible in the second part, for example they omitted Annie's "I failed to become a warrior." line. But on the other hand, I really liked some of the phrasing on other parts, like Jean's final lines in episode 25. The acting is pretty great, but the Titan roars just became distracting in the Titan fight episodes. The pacing problems are pretty much gone when you marathon the whole thing. I freaking love episode 21 and the fixed animation made it even better. I forgot how creepy the fire Titan thing was, but episode 24 and 25, despite being different from the manga, pretty much stayed true to the general themes and I think in that sense it worked really well despite being "different". The blushing face Annie had was still a bit much, though, it could've been tweaked a little and looked a lot better.
-
So the manga is planned to finish in 3-4 years, which should coincide with around 95-110 total chapters and 20-22 total volumes (my own math, don't quote me). Since Shingeki season 1 covered ch 1-35ish, we should expect a total of three 2-cour seasons. We should have enough material for a new season in a year's time, and then the last season might be when the manga ends?
Very glad Isayama isn't trying to milk the series past its end, like some other series cough.
-
It says hes plans 20 volumes, but I would feel far more comfortable if he was willing to make it 22.
guess I have a hard time seeing everything build up and wrap up nicely when we are currently on Vol. 15. I am going to make the assumption that next chapter is going to wrap up the Reiss thing + unknown lady (if it continues into next volume there is no way he is making it in 20 volumes). But we still have to find out how to fix the wall, get to the outer wall, and fix those. We have 0 information on King Kong titan, Ymir is still a wild card, we have had nothing on why exactly Bertolt/Reiner are fighting against humans (and Annie if she shows up again), nothing on Titan Village, and only guesses to the mystery basement.
With only 4 chapters per volume, all of this would have to get into 20 chapters. It is possible, but I fear that a lot will be lost trying to condense everything down. -
New month! That means new chapter soon! I found this, though! There's some more specifics about extending the series.
“In the beginning, I estimated I’d need about 16 volumes to wrap everything up,” he explains. “But there are more characters involved now, and to do the story justice, it’s going to need to be more longer than that…If each character doesn’t change into someone different between the start and end, then I don’t think there’s any point to a story, so I want to show readers the moment when they change.”
Personally, I think the manga will continue for three more years. I’d like to end things quickly, with a tight pace of story developments…and then I always end up feeling like I should qualify that with a ‘but,’ so for now, I can’t say anything more specific.”

uhhh. hummm.
D:!
-
I-is that real?!
-
M-more
!
-
My god, what the hell is happening?! Need more details. Internet pls.
-
! Titan Historia looks like a zombie. o.o
-
I…what? Is it just me or does the art look a little different?

I…what? Is it just me or does the art look a little different?
Nah, it's just that we haven't see Titans in almost an entire year.
-
It's literally a year. This is 62 - 50 was technically the last time we saw some Titans outside the walls aside from some panels where characters think of them and the experiment with Eren. I know that this type of twist has happened already, but this really did catch me off guard and there's not even context yet. What the hell is going on?
-
….I think we've just gotten a Gainax ending.
-
But the story isn't over yet. There's still 3 years left :P
-
I saw a fake spoiler somewhere stating and showing
! Levi's death. It was just a pic of him and his face/throat slit
so I didn't expect those spoilerpics posted. But that's better than what I saw.
-
!
Totally not possibly suspicious at all.
-
So wait, if I'm reading this right…
! Eren loses his titan shapeshifting abilities to Christa!? I don't, I just can't…
Biggest plottwist in the manga BY FAR.
