To me, Fairy Tail's "awesome" moments are pretty hollow and really don't have much emotional weight to them as a consequence that Mashima never builds any potential into the series. As a result, the only thing I can ever feel from Fairy Tail is sheer apathy towards any of Mashima's endeavors. Sure you can make the argument that "well hey, the transformers movie series is all about just explosions and stuff" but then my grievances would be something like
- That's still under the same presumption that you know that they're bad movies with no substance
- Even enjoyable movies which focus on the spectacle can be built with a good base, which is why Naruto and Bleach had potential that reached higher highs and disappointed even when you didn't need to expect too much from them (and hey, the best parts of Bleach right now are when Kurotsuchi is doing stupid shit rather than "deep" shit).
- I don't even like the Transformers movies, so why should I care if it's just explosions and stuff?
Like really, even though they've disappointed me much more often than not for years, I'd much rather have series that build up some potential to live up to than something that is incredibly… safe.
Of course, I don't follow the series anymore and thus rarely ever pop up in this thread because I have nothing to contribute except an incredibly strong feeling of unexcitement, but you know

Does it matter ? I don't base my opinion around people or their "feeling" and i sure as hell ain't gonna change that . People can dislike my comments all they want but at the end of the day i couldn't give two shits about them . If i see bullshit then i will call it bullshit .

Hell yeah it matters. Nobody will take you seriously if your attitude doesn't change, so yeah, you can keep posting all you want, but you will never achieve the point of why you're posting, which is convincing the opposing side why your argument is solid. All you've achieved is simply alienating yourself not only from the opposing side but those who would agree with your thoughts. Facts, logic, ideas, and thoughts mean nothing if they are conveyed by a belligerent mouth

I don't see why people are so critical of Mashima. He's clearly a robot. If writing a weekly and monthly series simultaneously wasn't enough proof, then somehow finding additional time to write a 32-page one-shot is.

I'm convinced Mashima discovered a time vortex in his office or a cloning machine or made a deal with the devil. The fact that he's running 2 continuous series (1 weekly/monthly), overseeing another AND a magazine, and just finished a one shot…is just inhuman.

I feel like Mashima suffers from a multiple personality disorder in which one personality, "Hiro," writes decently empowered and interesting female characters and the other, "Hardo", takes over on the last day before the deadline and spooges all over everything his other side accomplished.

Lol. Well ecchi do as ecchi does I guess. Although I was surprised there was no panty shot and her bewbs weren't gravity defying behemoths. So there's that. Overall it was an alright story. Swords with attack powers and special abilities has a lot of potential.

You would THINK it does (because honestly it does sound like an interesting premise), but it would get old VERY fast.
If this ever turned into a full blown serie, essentially this would be nothing but "power levels" and "sword play". Both would be interesting for a while, but it would end up being remarkably dull after while. At least with Fairy Tail, there is a variety of powers due to how limitless "magic" is (and yet Mashima still makes it fairly boring).

The oneshot felt like a classic Mashima story. The concept was neat and the characters had the quirks but the action as usual was complete garbage. If he just did an ecchi comedy series I think it would work pretty well for him, no doubt it would be generic as all hell, but I feel that lighearted comedy with some wacky situations are his strong point.

The one-shot really was nice and felt like it had a lot of potential. However, I just reread the first chapter of Fairy Tail and actually got the very same vibes. Looking at it as a stand-alone first chapter, you get quite nice characters, setting and worldbuilding which looks like it has much potential to become a really great series.

The one shot, while being nothing special when it comes to story was actually enjoyable and funny. And at first I was thinking: oh wow no fanservice at all in this, respect mashima, but he couldn't resist.^^

I didn't like how Igneel was so casually chatting with Natsu while dealing with Acnologia. That was really something that both he and Natsu should have paid dearly for against him.

The way it should go is Natsu being controlled by END, then he is defeated by a Group consisted of Gray,Twin Dragons, Laxus(healed) and Gajeel.
