Honestly, I really don't know why anyone would want to set themselves up for some really high standards (probably impossibly high at this point due to how harsh the Silent Hill fanbase is…you know "the profound philosophical horror snob demographic". If it doesn't resemble anything like SH 1-3, they'll bash it to bits and call it a day. So...why in the world are they bothering rebooting this thing? Both Kojima and Del Toro are highly qualified in making a great horror game, but they're setting themselves up for some pretty harsh bashing by the Silent Hill fanbase in the coming future. What's wrong with making a new IP? Kojima and Del Toro are huge enough names that they don't need that franchise name boost. So what's the point of this? Just make a goddamn new IP.
Just because this series has an unpleaseable fanbase (like this is a new phenomenon) doesn't mean they shouldn't take the risk of having the minds of Hideo Kojima & Guillermo Del Toro offer their own take on Silent Hill. While there will be some Silent Hill fans who might not think to highly of this game for whatever reasonwho cares when there presumably will be less picky Silent Hill fans who may like it.
