I liked Earl Shi having a self-destructive weakness. Plenty to people like that in the world.
Yeah, Ouhon's plan was dumb. He was able to hold his own but it was Earl Shi's own weakness that sealed his fate. That, and I don't care about Earl Shi so points for him dying.

Hey, I would've prefered if Ouhon and Shin didn't get to kill great general, but if it had to be done, then it was done… okay. Not great or anything, but the explanation is realistic, and fits the backstory we were presented. Just saying, it was foreshadowed.
Those guys are some random obstacles anyway. I care about characters that were actually present in history, not extras. Hara can deal with extras however he desires.

I'll buy the explanation and shit about how Ouhon managed to wound the Earl but I feel troubled about how things are playing out. I wish the Earl would live only to make the Wei conquering arc less anticlimactic, if only slightly. And what was the purpose of showing Shin/Gaimou in the middle of Ouhon's duel?

I'm going to be completly honest: Shin and others of his generation were never that interesting to me as characters to begin with, so I really don't care if they really shine or not.
Well with exception of Mouten, whom I like.
But, for the most part, I care about older generals more. Like Ousen, and Moubu. Especially since I count Wang Jian among my most favorite commanders of all time. Alongside Bai Qui, if we speak about Chinese military leaders.
So Ten's great strategy was to abandon Shin and hope like hell reinforcements arrived?

Remember when we had Ouki toying with all his opponents by predicting their moves several times in advance? Now we get these stupid strategies that somehow work. So apparently you can rush the enemy base when they have superior numbers and are in a good position.
I guess the other factions could help Wei after this just to stop Qin?

What a horrible strategy. Abandon your commander in the middle of a battlefield hoping that reinforcements will show up.
It gets worse. That move was to allow another; rushing the well defended base at a numbers and positional disadvantage. I mean if the first move was to render the enemy base defenceless then it would have been almost okay.

The first war arc is pretty nice, followed by a meh flashback arc, then a great war arc featuring a character that almost everyone agrees is one of the best in the manga, then a pretty solid third war with intros of some pretty cool generals. After that, the most epic arc comes next, the fourth war arc where the stakes and epic moments are at its highest for the manga. The excitement kinda falls after that arc.
On another note, the chapter was okay, but Hara's lolstrategy needs to improve. I get that Ten's not on the level of the better strategists but it seems like Ouhon's a bad influence on her. RIP Earl Shi, at least Gaimou seems more interesting, hopefully he'll live.

I won't say the triple charge isn't cool, but I wish the strategy at least made some sense. This is far from believable, even for an epic style setting like kingdom.

Solid chapter, Gaimou didn't get killed (whew) and I'm glad I didn't fully believe Gaimou's hype at the beginning. Ryuukoku's statement to Ten irks me, I get the pride and shit about commanders on the battlefield but her failure could potentially become his problem. Nice to see though imitate Ouki, guy's a riot.

Imagine reading a series with main characters who act like that, or at least a simple shounen like this. It would be interesting but as Kingdom wouldn't exactly explore the depths of the character's beliefs, it would get boring really quickly and you wouldn't be able to just root for them.
Hara doesn't really have a choice. Vinland Saga needs a non-Viking acting main character to not alienate readers, for example.

I wouldn't see Kanki work as a main character, only as a side one. Maybe it's just me, but it's the impression i get

Hmmm, well he'll have to have character development first, because to reach Sasuke level, he needs to have character development only to lose it a few arcs later and regress to not only the previous character but worse than that, then duke it out with his best friend Xin as he moans about how nobody understands the pain of being an avenger or not having the attention of his father or something like that

Then he'll have to run away to another state to apprentice under a great general only to kill him, engage in some BS power up fights with people he blames took away the attention of his dad, then return for the final battle and declare that he wants to be a great general of Qin, and finally have all of his crimes/treason pardoned because friendship right?
I was hoping that Mouten would start to form a crush on Ouhon which would drive Xin crazy. Then Ouhan and Xin would slowly start to create an obsession with one another and Xin would go on a quest to retrieve Ouhan back to Qin (after Ouhan left to fight his defected brother, who killed Ousen in battle).
Following which it will turn out that Xin and Wang Ben are both reincarnations of super ancient Chinese war gods who will end up teaming together to fight a goddess whose entire stake in explained by a magic talking sock

Well, to be honest, he had to start some serious hype for him somewhere. Wang Jian and Wang Ben are credited with taking care of majority of Kingdoms, and the latter was hailed one the greatest generals of that era. They have to live up to their reputation.

I do hope so. It will turn out to be mastermind behind all of Wang Family ill doings, thus cleansing them of any negative connotations they could possibly have.
It will turn out that Wang Jian made a magical talking sock as his "will" but actually the sock was sewn by their ancient ancestor who is the progenitor of all military in China. The Wang family is actually cursed with such strong love that it's passed from generation to generation, in the same way Wang Jian can't even look his son in the eye or without a mask on.

Yeah doesn't really help when the last nonjailed one was killed off by Duke Hyou, the tactician's been seen as doing nothing (might be the one to bail out Houmei if she's going to do anything), kinda-incest general with no personality gets off'd by Ouhon, and Xin's opponent was called out by Renpa and Ouki as not really worth it

Fitting for Seinen, but nope. He later fights against Qi, I believe, and redeems himself somewhat.
I do hope Hara won't change history as much as to have it rewriten, and make Shin's defeat completly not his fault. Because it was. At least partialy.
