We interrupt this conversation to bring you the following:
http://www.zeldainformer.com/news/report-grezzo-could-be-making-majoras-mask-3d-hiring-to-make-a-legend#.U58xPG5lDQ8 Grezzo seems to be hiring, and the way they put it out definitely teases that they could be working on Majora's Mask 3D. From the page translates: "Would you like to make a legend with us?" Here's the page from Grezzo as well(Even though it's in Japanese):
http://www.grezzo.co.jp/jp/recruit_kinkyu/Well that would be awesome and disappointing at the same time. Disappointing that they haven't already been working on it XD

I'm just hoping that if they do Smash TV or something of the sort the interface actually lets you share the moments you want to share, instead of leaving you hoping that the awesome moment from that match was picked up by the auto-generated highlights with the right angle.
I mean, I love Mario Kart TV, but there's a lot of matches I save to watch later only to find out the reasons I saved them (to see an awesome green shell, or an epic moment of dodging a red shell by swerving in front of a banana peel) actually just don't even appear. Or they're invisible because of the angle of the camera.
Please. Please. PLEASE.

All I know about Twitch is that is plays Pokemon. Does it do other things too? :ninja:

http://mynintendonews.com/2014/06/18/nintendo-producer-expresses-interest-in-super-mario-sunshine-sequel/ Interest is a start. I hope he decides to make a sequel
-
A sequel to my favorite 3D Mario game would be amazing. Hopefully it moves beyond just "interest"…
-
Not sure how to feel about this. Feels like Hyrule Warriors is a cop-out answer since female characters are in that game not because of wanting to include female players but because of Warriors series requiring lots of playable characters and some of the main ones in the series (Zelda, Impa) just happen to be female.
And seriously, does he really think female players don't buy the fuck out of Zelda games already?

Same here! Sunshine is kinda underrated in my book.

I didn't think female players really ever cared about the prospect of playing as a female character in a main Zelda game. But given how the series takes place in different time lines giving them wiggle room to do something on thing on that end it's weird how they haven't acted on that.

If you don't already have Resident Evil Revelations for the 3DS, it's only $10 until tomorrow. Check out the eshop

By the way, the Wii U version is also on sale, for $20.

So I'm finally getting around to playing Super Mario Galaxy, since I found it cheap at Gamestop, along with Zak and Wiki ($3!). I like it so far, and couldn't help but smile at some of its clever concepts.
-
Zack and Wiki is a criminally underrated game IMO. But I'm surprised you hadn't tried Galaxy. Definitely a great game, and so is Galaxy 2. I'm still itching for a new true 3D Mario for Wii U.
-
I like Galaxy in terms of design and music and beauty, but it's one of those games I play once and never look back. For some reason I gravitate more towards the more unappreciated Mario games, like Sunshine and Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA).
Even if apparently it's cool now to like sunshine xD
-
I usually beat most Mario games and don't look back (for the 3D ones anyway). Mario 64 being the only exception, because I played through that several times back in the day. I did beat Galaxy 1&2 with both Mario and Luigi to get every star, if that counts as doing it twice.
But I don't know why Sunshine is suddenly so popular; maybe the novelty of the Galaxy design finally wore off. I've ALWAYS argued Sunshine is the better game. The Galaxy games baby you by giving you very linear objectives.
-
Yeah, that's exactly what I've said. Sunshine gave us more options in platforming and Galaxy limited them. They were both pretty fun, but Sunshine really freshened up the gameplay and had a lot more depth to it.
-
Why are females always the taboo in the gaming industry. What's wrong with adding a female character in a fighting game?
-
What's wrong with adding a female character in a fighting game?
lolwut?
Thats like the one genre that definitely doesn't lack female characters. Unless you mean maybe as lead characters.
-
I cannot stress enough how much I enjoy Super Mario Sunshine and how well put together it is and how much more you could do with it. I cannot believe Nintendo would touch it again though, but I so desperately want them to. They still remember FLUDD based on Smash Bros, so there's this hope within me and this spark that refuses to die.
I must also say that the game helped me relax me very much as a kid as far as neuroses goes based on its wonderfully rewarding water physics on the goop, due to my incessant need to be clean.

What exactly is the context?
-
going to try tomadachi life..i never created more than 1 mii before so this should be fun to see what happens
I would like to see another sunshine game..it was a unique game having to use FLUDD for puzzles.plus the bonus stages were cool :)
-

You mean the ones where you DIDN'T get FLUDD? XD But yeah those were some of my favorites.
-

Ah yes, my bad for not explaining further. Was reading Ubisoft's no-female-assassin article when I typed this.

I get the apeal of the mechanic, but it shouldn't have been in a mario game, it was built more as a chore than an objective.
I found Okami "Purification" theme done a lot better in the big areas of the game.
-

Aw man, every time I would sing along with the acapella. Gets stuck in your head.
-
I'm going to be picking up a Wii-U today, the MK8 bundle. That of course gives me MK8 and I'll get Wind Waker for free when I register it. Other than that I guess I'll pick up Super Mario 3D World and The Wonderful 101 (which I hear is going to be quite hard even on easy…. but fyckit.)
-
What to get next…..Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, or Kid Icarus: Uprising?
....both? Well 2 heads are better than one…
-
Had the Wii U for quite a bit and I must say I love it. I got the New Super Mario Bros. U bundle and a few other games: Sonic Lost World, Super Mario 3D World and Wonderful 101. I may pick up Mario Kart 8 if I get a chance (or wait for a sale) and maybe Nintendo Land. Can't wait for Bayonetta 2 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
-

I've always wanted Zak and Wiki since it got a ton of praise, I just never could find it. And I was even more surprised to see it for a measly $3. I think of it as walking away with a good deal :P
And Galaxy was one of the games that I just never got into the hype about, and always told myself I'd play it later. Then I realized it's been 7 years and a console ago, so I might as well pick it up.
The Galaxy games baby you by giving you very linear objectives.
And so far, this is one of the few things I don't like about it. The name Galaxy alone gives me the impression of a lot more freedom to the platform side of things, but it's pretty darn linear. A lot of fun, but just not as free as I'd hope.
-
Yeah, the whole galaxy thing is just gorgeous smoke and mirrors covering up what is really a series of corridors so long and straight that it makes FFXIII blush.
The Galaxy games are still pretty fun, but stripped of their glamour, they're pretty shallow compared to 64 and Sunshine.
-
The Galaxy games are more in line with the classic 2-D obstacle course style games, rather than the playground exploration of 64 and Sunshine.
Nothing wrong with that, but I really wish Nintendo would make another playground Mario game, like atleast one per console generation.
-
I've ALWAYS argued Sunshine is the better game. The Galaxy games baby you by giving you very linear objectives.
You mean the ones where you DIDN'T get FLUDD? XD But yeah those were some of my favorites.
I find it funny that your favorites parts are the ones closer to Mario Galaxy by being a linear obstacle course (I believe thay even said this is partly what gave birth to Mario Galaxy).
-
I said some of my favorites. And I love them for the music, for being surreal, and presenting challenging platforming in a purer sense without FLUDD. And it's not fair to compare isolated tasks to the game's structure at large.
-
Yeah, the FLUDD-less segments in Mario Sunshine are actually one of the highlights, but not because getting rid of FLUDD improves the game. But because it's a very fun distraction that places a lot of acrobatic emphasis/challenge in ways you don't normally have to in Sunshine, due to how it navigates. It's like a really nice breath of fresh air, for a short period.
Although the whole game in general is a breath of fresh air for me, so it's Air on Air. I'm dying to replay it. It doesn't feel the same on Dolphin with a PS3 controller and I had a hard time getting the FPS to just be 30 and not be going superfast. I dont have a gamecube memory card any more though, it vanished.
-
Damn all this reminiscing about sunshine makes me slightly guilty about getting rid of it and my gamecube.
-
Blasphemy. I finished sunshine last year. This year is four swords and the prime trilogy
-
I played Sunshine again last summer. Perfect summer game by the way. Well, perfect game to play any time to be honest, it's just flat out fun, and a huge step up from Super Mario 64.
That said…the only thing that takes away from Sunshine for ms is that it lacks the polish that first-party Nintendo games usually have. The controls are kind of slippery and there are times when the physics are wonky. Like the part where you sort of go through a giant pinball machine didn't work all that well, and Hotel Delfino is a great big mess.
The Galaxy games are more polished, and the mechanics are definitely more finely tuned and tighter. That said, I agree how damn linear it is. Galaxy 2 is an improvement because it's a legitimate challenge, but Galaxy was just too damn easy. Super gorgeous titles though, and as far as I'm concerned all of the 3D Marios to date rank among the best platformers of all time.
-
Oh, Mumbo cameo.
My main problem with Sunshine is the setting. It lacked variety in the levels.
Green Hill Zone + Village, Beach/Harbor, Beach again, Amusement Park + Beach, Beach + Haunted Hotel, Bay (Beach + Mountain), another Village, Volcano…
Corona Mountain sucks ass. Awful final level.
Also, blue coins. And the voice acting. And the evil clone from nowhere. And the awkward "Mama Peach" dialogue. And perhaps the worst court trial of videogaming history.
Overall, the game was fine mechanically and I actually liked the Piantas, but some of the elements made it look like the series would jump the shark at any moment.
-
perhaps the worst court trial of videogaming history.
I think most Ace Attorney fans who sat through the 2nd game's 3rd case would take issue with that statement. Unless they gotten over that.

To be fair the original Super Mario Bros. was just as guilty of the same thing and far worse about it.
but some of the elements made it look like the series would jump the shark at any moment.
Super Mario Bros 2 had you throwing turnips, onions, beets and other vegetables,at big headed masked enemies, giant sunglasses wearing rats, hair bow wearing dinosaurs that shoot eggs from their mouths, and whatever the hell Wart was supposed to be. With the revelation that all this took may have taken place within a dream. Nobody could've found Sunshine to be that unusual.
-

Mario doesn't even get a defense attorney or witness testimony. They didn't bother to present any sort of evidence or explanation of how Mario could have been at Delfino Island before his plane even arrived. They even overrule an objection from a member of royalty. That alone makes the whole thing more rigged than all AA cases put together.
To be fair the original Super Mario Bros. was just as guilty of the same thing.
You can't use the same standards for those two games. SMB was already creative enough to come up with a magical land with floating blocks and coins, mushrooms that make you grow, flowers than grant fire power, a warping system composed of pipes, turtles that kill you, armored turtles that kill you with hammers, Giant turtle king that breathes fire and a dominant race of people with mushroom heads.

Well, that game was originally something else completely different (Doki Doki Panic). They just decided to remake it with Mario characters and a few other changes because the original SMB2 (Lost Levels) was deemed too fucking hard to be enjoyable.
-
I can't say they were wrong about the Lost Levels. Whoever designed those levels hated gamers.
-
My boyfriend and I started playing Sunshine tonight, first time since we were kids.
The levels are all very distinct honestly. Unless you just don't care for the overall game theme, each location has a specific flavor and variety of tropical island and in concept alone they're all really cool. In practice, some of them don't come out well (Hotel Delfino/Serina Beach is very unfortunately frustrating despite the fact that it's full of wonderfully designed and precious Boos). When everything is working though it feels great. But when two Secret (FLUDD-less) levels, red coins and then one short "get BowsJr" level make up a percentage bulk of all 10 stars, that bums me out since the exploratory angle is absolutely the game at its peak. But you only get a few stars each time! The blue coins are their own reward for general level exploration, but there are so many it's hard to keep track and I'm caring less as I go by. We decided to ignore the 9th and 10th Secret-secret red coin levels since those just do not sound fun.
The art direction, Delfino in general being such a consistent and inspired location, and the the audio design just uuu they make me so happy. But I just wish the areas were larger. That seems almost unfair to say. The level size is still good. It's bigger than Mario 64 for the most part. It could just be better. With larger levels, or more things to interact with at least, and less shinies focused on obstacles and timed challenges, the game would be wonderfully superior as far as sequels goes. I'd also like… less blue coins maybe? A lot of the incentive to explore levels on a general principle is to uncover blue coins, but I feel less inclined to find them much anymore because they are so abundant I could never naturally find all of them. It feels less rewarding as a result. Still. The hub world is also really great. I just wish it would remove the shimmering sound effect to signal Shines being nearby if you've already gotten them.
I STILL REALLY LOVE THIS GAME it was the first Mario game I actually owned on my first Nintendo console I actually owned, instead of playing stuff at other people's houses. THere's just a lot more to do with it and it deserves that sequel.

Actually Mario 2 was always going to be Mario. The history is more complicated than people realize, but the order in development is more accurately as New Mario -> becomes Doki Doki -> Back to mario 2 in US -> Japan gets Mario 2 also.
Just saying "They changed it to mario 2 in the US because it was easier" is a lot easier to say though which is why everyone is more familiar with that part, since technically yes that's the gist of it. But it being a new Mario game was the intention from the get-go (not necessarily "2") and Miyamoto diverted it into Doki.

Reading this makes me realize just how damn surreal the Mario games really are.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/06/23/nintendo-loses-lawsuit-to-philips
Really?Yep…Nintendo is already setting up to appeal too. I think all these companies going after Nintendo is a load of bs
-
Let's not forget that this was the decision reached in the UK either.
Philips has filed lawsuits in quite a few regions this time around, and some may end up with a different verdict, nevermind the appeal process.
-
-
It's… interesting... but I don't really get it? I get the gameplay and it being built around tagging enemies then shocking them, but... is that it?
-
i forgot about that game.
