Goddammit I fell asleep, but hey, U!S!A! U!S!A! Go 'Murica!!
FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil

Playing against USA is not the same as playing against Germany, Portugal will still advance to the second round if nothing unforeseen happens and considering who will probably wait after that for them, quarter finals does not seem unlikely as well.
USA needs only a draw considering Germany beats every other team in the group and US loses with less than three goals or something. They can attempt to completely close down any sort of attack and depend on counters to perhaps hold the game together. I am sure Klinsmann is aware of Portugals weakness against counter attacks and dead ball situations too. Apart from Ronaldo, the team is frankly not that star studded with quality players either

USA could do Portugal to be honest. Without a fully fit Ronaldo they are not much better at least USA can defend.

My country plays tomorrow morning!
During my exam D: -
Well yea, but having the ball means nothing if you don't take advantage of it.
But really, don't care much to argue which was the better team, both are fairly close in the end. xD
Well, possession kind of is the the cornerstone of decent football.
Regardless, yeah, the teams were close in the end lol

Russia has a terrific squad filled with terrific players.
And obviously because this is a major tournament, you can put money on them not getting out of their group.

Hey! It's their first world cup after 12 years!!
…I bet first knockout match will end it. Second, if really lucky T_T -
I only saw an (extended) recap of the Ghana-USA match, but from what I saw there it seemed that Ghana was the better team by far. I've got nothing against the USA, but I don't think they deserved that win. It's gonna be pretty much impossible for Ghana now to survive the group-stage… well, at least their goal was one of the nicer ones I've seen so far :)
-
Though not an equal replacement, you guys still have R.Costa and Almeida on the bench, especially the latter was convincing with Benfica and it´s not like the US and Ghana will barrage you like Germany. To be honest, i would like to see Varela and William play for Nani and Meireles but i doubt the coach will do it.
He wasn´t that good.
Imo the eleven should be:
–-----------Eder-------------
Ronaldo-------------Nani------Amorim---Moutinho-------
---------William--------------
Veloso-----------------Pereira
---------Alves--Neto---------Not really sure about the goalkeeper.
I guess we could also put Amorim as a left back and Veloso next to William, but consodering that implies changing the tactic (AND GO FORBID US TO DO THAT) it won´t happen.

Not passing the group phase at Euro 2012 was one of the most shocking and hilarious things i´ve ever seen.
How the hell did they botch it up is something i´ll never understand -
I'm so excited for tonight! Belgium's first game!
Not going to make a prediction though, as I'm sure that's bad luck. -

Sure, go ahead.
And that's very clever… with that avatar, you could also be rooting for Spain, or Holland... you're like the Petyr Baelish of football.
-
Okay, let's see. With no actual knowledge to speak of I'll go with a Belgium 3-0 win. I said that yesterday for Germany and it worked out alright.

Some people would call that a good guess… I'm not saying anything though.
-
I have Algeria in 2 separate sweepstakes…it's going to be painful watching them get royally fucked by Belgium.
-
My colleague actually bet on Belgium as World Champion.
While i wouldn't go that far i also think they'll win today. If so, then 2:0 please, i need some points!
-
I'm still undecided if i want México to win or i want them to be massacred by Brazil (Oh, the people's reactions would be so funny. They are treating the match like a destined confrontation in the news since we beat them in the Olympics or something like that).
-
Belgium team: Courtois, Alderweireld, Van Buyten, Kompany, Vertonghen, Witsel, Dembele, Chadli, De Bruyne, Hazard, Lukaku.
3 Spurs players. I sense an Algeria shock.

I predict a draw.
It would not surprise me if Mexico won. It might surprise a whole lot of others.
It would also not surprise me if Brazil won.

But, there is no fun in a massacre, how about a Brazil 3-2 México ?
And if Brazil loses, things would be a complete chaos here.:ninja:

:p Today we are in the opposite sides Captain Ugly. I would go all dramatic about it but i'm sleepy.

I'm in Gent right now and people here are going crazy
-
Really hyped to see Belgium play. They've been so praised and the squad has quality to spare. Hell, guys like Januzaj, Fellaini or Mertens aren't even on the starting team!
But I've also heard good things about Algeria, so I don't expect the overkill that many seem to take for granted.
-
Well there you go. 15 minutes and a fucking ad break before ITV get off talking about England and decide they want to talk about the two teams playing, a little of 10 minutes before kick off. That's what I hate about big international tournaments, it's all about England and fuck all to do with the other teams to the media over here. England are playing Thursday, if you want to talk about England for an extended period of time then start your programme earlier and talk about them then!
-
Damn they look so nervous, it's like they're paralyzed.. come on boys!
-
Surprise surprise. . .
-
Ugghh that was not good, dammit. 66% ball possession but nothing to show for it. i really hope they'll come back.
And Vertonghen, what an idiot :/ -
FELLAINI SCORES
I wasn't expecting anything from him, well played.
-
Ahh a tie so far.
-
Fellaini <3 <3 <3
-
That looks more like it! Nice goal!
-
Nice comeback by Belgium.
-
Belgium should have no trouble getting first place in their group.
-
don't now, what I saw was not the quality I had expected with those top players. I thought they'd wals over algeria but that was hardly true…
Belgium has been stated to be a wild card for the finals this WC but after I saw Germany or the Netherlands I'm inclined to reconsider or at least doubt it considerably. -
Physical exhausting of the algerian players played a massive, decisive part in Belgium's victory.
Of course it's a legit win and their last 20-25 minutes are pretty decent, but they should be worried about their first 60 minutes. They had no creative ideas to break Algeria's defense, and that's FAR from the deadliest defense they'll find in the tournament.
That being said, what a squad. The subs were absolutely decisive: Fellaini and Mertens scored and Ogiri was much more dangerous than Lukaku. And they're all so damned young. Scary.
-
Honestly the match was kind of boring, 1half Belgium didn't do anything, good thing that they make up in the second half.
Algeria was defending all the time, really bad tactic, especially when you are winning with only 1 but of difference, They can thank their goal, without him, they would've loose by 3 or 4.Well I was not expecting lot of things in this match anyway, I think Russia vs korea can be very interesting, and I'm probably not going to watch Brazil's match since I don't like Brazil.
-
Geez, that was too close and so suspenseful. My poor heart :p
The Belgium as we know them only came through in the last 20 minutes or so. I think the problem was that the Algerians completely smothered Eden Hazard, and his counterpart De Bruyne was making a lot of mistakes, he was really out of it. But well, what do you expect bringing a ginger to Brazil. Jk, he's usually very sharp and can deliver some good assists.Whereas Fellaini's goal was maybe a bit of a lucky shot, the second goal really showed what our team can do, when Hazard finally broke free and passed the ball beautifully to the great Dries Mertens.
In short, I'm relieved and I hope they won't pull any more shenanigans like that first half today.
-
I am really up for seeing the match between Russian and South Korea. Curious what Russia has to show this time.
-
5 minutes in and the referee is already doing some dubious stuff. . .
-
Belgium deserved the victory. They easily were the better team and that effort needed to pay off eventually.
I'm typing on my notebook while Brazil is running around, doing whatever really. If they keep playing like that against good teams, they can kiss the World Cup trophy goodbye.
-
I'm falling asleep here. The game is slow and boring for the most part…
-
Brazil are just lumping it up to Fred. No quality at all.
-
And now its a lot more action packed o.o
-
terrible terrible terrible from Jo
-
Mexico are making Brazil look ordinary, I hope they get something out of this.
They've been full value and seem to have a good spirit. -
That goalkeeper is something else.
-
Meh, 0-0.
-
Yeah, we're screwed. (Croatia)
-
Mexico's goalkeeper was awesome. Saved his team more than just once.
The Mexican team in general played very well during the second half and really would've deserved a 1-0 win at the very least.
