I don't know if Casillas is weak or Robben is just too much? It's like Spain didn't have any goalkeeper till the last minutes….
FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil
-
-
Brilliant start from Chile.
2-0, Alexis and Valdivia.
-
Welp. Game's most likely over already.
-
Need 3 more to lead the group!
-
This time they do because they suck. Like, people I know from Mexico, literally everyone I know from Mexico knows they suck as much as they may still support their team. Mexico always gets to the world cup because they have a fairly easy region where the biggest threat is the freaking U.S., and this year they barely survived in that region. That's embarrasing, and talk to anyone Mexican, anyone who watches their every single game, and they'll agree.
It's not underestimating as much as having witnessed their elimination process and noticing how badly they sucked and only made it here by miracle. And then you say they can have a chance against the team that scored five goals against Spain? Get the fuck out of here, that just tells me you have no context of what the level of football in Latin America is.And you misunderstood, they could face Netherlands. But they won't because they suck. I'm expecting Croatia and Brazil to both sweep over Mexico with ease. No doubt, and only a miracle would save them from that. They just bottom line don't deserve to advance from that group. And again, this is a belief I have from actually tracing their several past matches and interacting with Mexican people who do as well and know their team and its players. This Mexico just doesn't have it. And heads up: this Uruguay also doesn't have it.

First of all, you don´t need to be so rude.
I know Mexico, i´ve seen then, and yes, while i expect Croatia to get the second place in the group, i believe, IF Mexico manages to get through that they will surprise Netherlands (considering tonight´s result i already expect them to grab the first spot).
Many countries don´t have faith in their NTs. Sometimes is just part of the genetics.
England trashes their team competition after competition.
Portugal always has some hope in good results, but we always go into these things somewhat apprehensive about what might happen.
Italy is just bandwagon everywhere. Those guys only care about what´s going on if the team manages to get a couple of good results.
I don´t care about what Mexicans say about their team. I´m not expecting the team to make an unbelievable tournament, but i expect solid games from them that can lead them past the group stage. And i don´t get why they "don´t deserve to advance". Because you think they suck?
If they win the 3 games they also don´t deserve to advance?
If they manage to win vs Croatia do they also don´t deserve to advance?
If you think Croatia will sweep Mexico with ease, then maybe you hve no context of what the level of football in Europe is.Croatia have a couple of talented players and a handfull of veterans that never got past a "slightly above average" level.
Again, i expect Croatia to go through, but i wouldn´t be surprised at all if Mexico did it. -
No surprises for Chile vs Australia.
But I'm enjoying the game. -
Welp. Game's most likely over already.
Not yet!
2-1, Cahill.
Chile are sleepwalking right now, they might pay it if they keep this up. . .
Edit: Well, Australia did well during the second half, but during the extra time Chile scored the third. Beausejour.
3-1, end of the game.
-
Yeah, México this! México That! México! yeah, México!
Also, They say México has some really handsome people! Yeah!

Again, i expect Croatia to go through, but i wouldn´t be surprised at all if Mexico did it.My apologies, don't mean to be rude, I'm just very direct. Don't feel the need to walk around egg shells when most Mexican people I know either don't care about this or encourage me to believe that Mexico won't win. I mean, I'll support the latin american teams as much as possible, except Brazil and Argentina because they don't need it, but I'm not going to go and believe that means they stand a chance.
And I do care about what Mexicans say about their team because, frankly, they know them best. I trust that a lot more. And yes, I think teams that suck don't deserve to advance. And clearly, if they win, usually they don't suck, and if they win because of external aid, then of course I'll hate that. This is the world cup, if you get far I want it to be because you don't suck, otherwise the matches later in the tourney are just going to be a joke. Believe me, there's been times when Mexico deserved to go farther (2006 comes to mind) and it didn't happen … this time they don't deserve it, imo.
And sure, maybe I don't have a context for European qualification, but I'm sure most people would agree with me CONCACAF qualifications are more of a walk in the park than UEFA qualifications. And when the traditionally strongest team in the region qualifies to the finals by play-off, it's really bad.
But whatever, I guess we can let the results speak for themselves.

Wow, I am still so happy about the Netherlands win! I'm not a Netherlands fan in the slightest, but watching them play the way they did was a joy! And it felt so good seeing Spain lose! Muhahahahaha! Yes! I bask in your tears Casillas!
And I also agree with the atrocious refereeing thus far. I've been an advocate for adding replays for years. The referees really need help and that goal line technology is useless if they don't view replays.
Unless the referees are getting paid, of course. Which they are this tournament! Muhahahahaha!
-
Robben is like prime whitebeard, fking unstoppable
-
Damn now I regret that I couldn't watch the Dutch match.
Awesome goals! -

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm finding this to be the worst match of the cup so far. So many mistakes all over, it's fucking embarrasing.
edit: ooh, last minute goal right after I post that xD
-
Well, Columbia made it official that they won. And I thought it was a good game. Greece looked like they weren't really ready to play though because they did play kind of poorly. I thought it was the best ref so far though. Not calling petty shit and shit that wasn't there. And funny, he was American too.
Edit: Also, anyone know any streams that are 60 fps? I was watching one yesterday but the channel was only for that one game.
-
I actually wonder how much of it was the weather. A lot of mistakes both teams made gave me the impression of sheer exhaustion.

At least Greece just is that bad

No problem.
About the european qualifications, it depends a lot on the group you end up with, but usually the first two spots are a given.
Considering it has a lot of games against weak teams, even if a strong candidate slips up a couple of times in the beginning, the team will most likely qualify anyway. But yes, CONCACAF is a lot easier, especially considering the first 3 spots are in and the third one goes to a play-off.In other news, i feel stupid for underestimating Colombia´s midfield.
-
Uruguay team: Muslera, Caceres, Maxi Pereira, Arevalo Rios, Godin, Lugano, Stuani, Gargano, Forlan, Cavani, Rodriguez. Suarez on the beach.
Costa Rica team: Navas, Gamboa, Diaz Campbell, Umana, Gonzalez, Duarte, Tejeda Valverde, Borges, Campbell, Ruiz, Bolanos.
have to say without Suarez that Uruguay team looks bang average.
-
I've never been much of a soccer fan, but I decided why not, I'll check out this years World Cup. I gotta say, the first couple matches I watched were pretty entertaining.
-
Where's Suarez anyway?
The match is rather boring so far seeing as how I have time to type on my phone. Maybe they need some warm-up time to get into the game.
-
I genuinely don't think I've ever seen Cavani play well. Say that he just gone and scored a great penalty.
-
Wow the refs actually got a fall right so far.
-
The ITV commentators are brutal " only the ref knows if he gave it for handball or not" no no he isn't Townsend you utter utter bell whiff.
-

Suarez is sitting out this match. Not fully fit after that Injury.
-
England's team: Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Baines, Gerrard, Henderson, Welback, Sterling, Rooney, Strurridge.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Italy's team: Sirigu, Chiellini, Barzagli, Paletta, Darmian, De Rossi, Verratti, Pirlo, Marchisio, Candreva, Balotelli.
-
Uruguay vs Costa Rica is surprisingly interesting to watch.
-
Really Because am finding It really boring.
-
I still can't get over the epic goals of Van Persie and Robben… What a game... Seriously it was awesome.
But I have no doubts that Spain still will get really far in this tourney.
-
LAWL. Costa Rica beating Uruguay. wtf just happened.
-
COSTA RICA TAKE THE LEAD!
This is awesome, what a turnaround.
Still hoping for a draw though, for the benefit of England. -
Well, i was expecting Uruguay to start slow, but get a win simply because they are better, but i wasn´t explaining Costa Rica to play so well.
Guess my predictions will be far off this tournament.
-
Honestly I didn't see this happening…...but Costa Rica that was amazing..
-
That guy Campbell is freaking awesome. Costa Rica totally earning this.
And there we go, another one xD Costa Rica is humiliating Uruguay
-
This is unbelievable…...lol 3-1.....
-
Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll 3-1 game over.
-
URUGUAY has never won an opening match at the World Cup since 1970 against Israel.
-
This was my reaction.
I´m serious.
Except i´m not a cat.
-
They fight a losing battle now, though … England and Italy next, that's no joke. A team that most people thought would definitely get to the second round now has to fight for it. And it's seriously tough to recover from this.
This is definitely one of the suprises of this world cup.
-
RIP in peace Uruguay.
-
I genuinely don't think I've ever seen Cavani play well. Say that he just gone and scored a great penalty.
He used to be absolutely outstanding for Napoli.
Ever since he took the big money move to PSG, he's really suffered from a lack of game time.
-
What a asshole move right there from Uruguay
-
Holy fuck, that was an AWFUL thing to do.
Cringing at how hard he kicked his leg.
