Not necessarily buggy but unoptimized. WiiU uses 3 cores, PS4 and 720 use 8. WiiU has 1GB of RAM (2 total I think but 1 for games), PS4 and 720 have 8. WiiU doesn't support DX11, PS4 and 720 do. The biggest thing I think will be the RAM as it's an open world game if you can just load everything into RAM that would be really nice, and the WiiU has an eighth of the RAM as the other consoles.

The Wii U gamepad "gimmick" is probably the easiest gimmick to program for of all time. Take all of the information screens, and make them available there as well. That's literally all a company has to do to take advantage of it. Arkham City was a simple launch port that accomplished more than that. It's not a difficult thing to incorporate into regular games like motion control can be. And it could be very helpful in a game like this.
And since there will be 360 and PS3 versions of this game that will probably be the top sellers, I think a Wii U version will be just fine. Why aren't we ripping on those versions just as much?
-
Because it's obvious :ninja: .
-
http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=196687 Watchdog will be largely the same on all platforms according to the developers
-
It it's designed for next gen then I doubt it but of course they're going to say that.
-
This is either them saying the graphics lacking detail won't affect enjoyment of the game… or they're nerfing the graphics on other platforms to some degree so the difference isn't huge.
-
The graphics aren't even what I'm thinking about. The game seems to have so much dynamic stuff going on and so much control of the environment that I have a hard time believing they would be able to pull any of it off on either the PS3 or 360. GTAIV already ran poorly enough on the PS3 (and to a lesser extent the 360) and this seems to have so much more going on. They could drop it below what that game was like on them (which still wouldn't address all the dynamic stuff) but that would be incredibly far from being "largely the same".
-
Did anyone notice the subtle multiplayer in the demo at the ps4 launch? I nearly wet my pants! This game is a must get!
Look at the security cameras at 5:18 and 7:46, that is clearly a PSN user ID or something of the sort and there's even an article to back this up.

The very first trailer at last year's E3 confirmed multiplayer. In the original demo when Aiden stole a car it zoomed out to another character talking on a phone and they said the final game would have some sort of multiplayer.

i've only really hopped on the bandwagon after this launch, at last years E3 i only looked at it briefly and thought it was an interesting concept so i didnt know such small details about it
-
You know. Alot of people would hardly give a crap about how well a game plays compared to other consoles unless they own all the platforms. Heck, I didn't even know there were problems in GTAIV aside from being a boring game to play.
-
You'd start to care if it got too low. GTAIV ran at less than 720p at an average of 20 fps. Far Cry 3 dropped close to 10 fps at some points on the PS3. I only care that they don't have to take planned things out of the game for it to run on the PS3 and 360.
-
New trailer. Not a gameplay trailer this time though.
Edit: Also the release date is November 22.
-
New gameplay from a demo that was shown, sadly it's all chopped up with some game journalist narrating over it.
-
Here's the trailer without the commentary.
-
Well, here's what the game looks like on the PS3/360 versions and people are going apeshit because of how much worse it looks… I just have to say; no shit.
-
Did they say that that's the current gen version? Because the video is 1080p. And it doesn't look much different to me to the other gameplay videos except the initial reveal.
-
That makes no sense. They released a trailer featuring a work-in-progress build, a build that looks way worse than anything else they've put out before it?
-
What makes no sense about it?
-
What makes no sense about it?
This looks worse than anything they've ever shown and he said no version of the game will look like that. There's absolutely no reason it should have ever been released then.
-
By his own admission some mistakes were made. As for showing off the game in that unfinished state a 55 second trailer doesn't necessarily speak volumes about the overall quality of a finished game. So why put off showing the game simply because the visuals were off.
-
PC system requirements. Finally we're moving beyond DX9, 32bit, 8800GT, and 2GB RAM.

http://blog.ubi.com/watch-dogs-delay/
Delayed till 2014. Shame, I wanted to play it and the release was so close. Oh well, if it ends up being a better product because of it that's good.
-
Wow… some of those comments... this one takes the cake:
A bunch of lazy cunts. Deliberately posted Nov. 22 to take pre-orders and now delaying?Shitheads. Moneywhores. First R* and now you?!And you wonder why people pirate your games… go FUCK YOURSELF!
Dumbass.
-
Sucks I guess. Wasn't gonna get it till the new year and it was reduced anyways. But I knew a few people were using this and Assassin's Creed to justify buying their new consoles at launch.

A multiplat game available on ps3/360/wii u and pc as well?
Very odd reason to warrent a $500+ console.
I've played all the AC games and I don't see anything special in AC4 that warrants an upgrade. It will be just as enjoyable on the older systems. Or just on PC will look at minimum as good as on ps4/one
And I imagine Watchdogs is the same, since by same company and just looks like an AC game set in present time. Or what I imagine AC will be like when Desmond finally doesn't go in animus anymore. Of course minus the hacking
-
Well, I guess this makes my decision for getting Killzone: Shadow Fall a bit easier.
-
Well damn, I was kinda looking forward to it. Guess next year will be the big year of good games, Witcher 3, Watch dogs and hopefully GTA 5.
-
Delayed till Spring 2014?
Damn. Sucks. It's a real shame, was looking forward to playing it this year.
But I'm not too heartbroken about it, only means that I'll pick up this game and Evil Within next year.
So for this year, my only new game purchase will have been Arkham Origins. That keeps it simple.

Oh God, did I hit 88 MPH again? I'm such a lead foot.

I think they mean the rumoured PS4/Xbone/PC versions.

Well, this delay is certainly disappointing. But is it surprising? No. Not when every other major title this year got delayed. Really, the worst thing about it is that Ubisoft waited till barely over a month before release to go through with it. Thankfully, that wasn't the case with Bioshock: Infinite, The Last of Us or GTA V.

Its common for Ubisoft to do this now however. Remember when Ubisoft delayed Rayman a few days before release? Some stores here even had sealed copies already! I remember seeing the warehouse full of sealed copies too
-
I hear their stock dropped like 30% today.

Oh, wow. Are you serious? I knew Ubisoft had delayed Legends soon before it's scheduled release day, but not that soon.
And in others news, Ubisoft's stock dropped 25% just a day after they announced this delay. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/16/ubisoft-shares-drop-25-percent-following-delays/

Apparently Ubisoft decided to copy Rockstar in another way.
-
I'm really enjoying this.
The Microsoft Youtube channel had this video of Watch Dogs up for a little bit and apparently there were black bars on the top and bottom of it. At one point the black bars flicker or something (I didn't get to watch it) and you can see that they were covering up PS4 controller prompts. So either it was the PS4 version of the game (which would be worse) or the PC version being played with a PS4 controller. You could argue that it was just the footage given to them by Ubisoft but then why try to hide the prompts with black bars? The video was just removed in the past hour.
Edit: Here's a reupload of the video. It wasn't black bars like letterboxing but black boxes over the button prompts.

Woooooooooooow…

Anyone been following the recent Watch Dogs stuff? A trailer was released showing the game looking worse than even all the stuff after the initial trailer and Ubisoft first puts out a statement denying that it looks worse and that it actually looks better. Then they do a stream on Twitch saying not to worry and that people they've invited over to play have been impressed by it. They could be talking about the actual game and not the trailer but why put a trailer out that obviously shows worse graphics and then say that it actually looks better?

Are you being serious right now? I'm betting you're joking because there is no way you're serious.

"It is impossible," tweeted Ubisoft's Tessa Vilyn. "Of couse it is not downgraded at all." The animated image in question shows a 'then and now' section of gameplay.
"I love graphics," she continued, "its because i know they look good i'm bummed they think differently about it… its a true next gen game for sure... for sure.." Watch Dogs is no stranger to this accusation as a special trailer before led to accusations of the graphic fidelity being 'watered down'.
"Believe me the game is not downgraded," Vilyn later said, "that would just be a bit ridiculous."
Last year creative director Jonathan Morin said there was "no scale down in quality, especially the next-gen versions."
"It's pretty much the opposite," Morin continued. "What we showed at E3 2012 in a lot of respects was less good. I think it's in the details. So no, there's no scale down."
-
I completely agree with her. It doesn't make sense for it to be otherwise. This is just a way for people to look for a way to argue about how the big company is out to get them.
It was a really stupid point.
-
So you don't see any differences in the gif comparison? You didn't see any differences between the original trailer and even the ones after it? Ubisoft has a history of quietly toning down their games in more ways than one so I don't think it's out of character for them to do it. I could understand if the trailer this is about wasn't indicative of the game's quality but it's an official trailer by Ubisoft and they haven't made any attempt to say that the trailer isn't the next gen version or anything. Just that everyone seeing differences is blind and putting their fingers in their ears pretending everything is the same.
-
Good scott, that comparison GIF feels almost like a parody.
-
I'll be honest I didn't know which one was supposed to be the down grade on the gif. But then again I'm just a pleb who didn't even play games in HD until a couple of months ago.
-
The main things I noticed were that horrible blue fog stuff and that the car has no reflections. It's not that good of a comparison because the images are so small but it does look worse and everything we've seen after the initial trailer has looked worse as well. We're going to have to wait til the actual game comes out to make a good comparison but the fact that Ubisoft is completely dodging questions about it besides repeating over and over that it looks the same or better doesn't make me all that confident.
-

Why would they do that? Just think about it and see that it doesn't make sense. They had already created everything, so you're basically saying that they probably decided to shelve that, take older stuff and put it on there, which I'm sure would mean more work.
Yeah the gif doesn't look great but I'm sure there is a very good reason why its like that. Thing it makes absolutely no sense, in any capacity for them to do that.
-
It happens a lot. I don't know why you're saying it's strange. Devs will have supposed gameplay that looks amazing but then the final game doesn't look or even seem to play the same as was promised. Ubisoft seems to be fumbling a lot more with this than other studios that do it though. The game was delayed for some reason and I don't know why. I can't give you a definitive answer as to why it happens because it could be for a variety of reasons but it does happen and Ubisoft seems to be doing it a lot less subtly than one would expect. Textures and models are always made at a higher quality than are in the final game so it's not so much of them shelving stuff and making new stuff as it is further scaling things down and removing effects.

Systems like AI and world cohesion simply weren’t coming together, so Ubisoft (wisely, from the sound of things) stuck the game back in the oven
Its strange because this is their new IP for the new generation of consoles. This was the game that the were going to use to possibly launch a new franchise for the new generation of consoles, they have to make it work or their dead and providing anything less would be monumentally stupid and it doesn't make sense business wise or development wise or whatever else wise.
I think people a making a continent out of a mole hill and I feel bad for Ubisoft that they were willing to go back and fix possibly game breaking stuff instead of releasing a patch like every other AAA company does. Its hurt them but I really hope that they provide something else to soothe you guys, if not its going to hurt them more.
-
I'm just showing what I see. I would just think that if this wasn't indicative of the final game Ubisoft would say something other than it's the same or better than what was initially shown which is not the case from their own official video.
Edit: I actually just watched the video that gif is from and it's definitely an outlier in terms of in that trailer. There's still some weird things at various places in the video but nothing looks as bad that that part. I have no idea why that part is in there though. I still don't know why Ubisoft won't comment on things either. I think people did jump the gun on this, including me.
