@Purple:
How did he of all the espada jump up to #6 anyway. He definitely was the least impressive in terms of combat power (and anything)
That reminds me, rankings in Bleach make no sense.
So Luppi always there waiting to take Grimmjow's spot, right? But if Luppi was always there and he's just about as strong as Grimmjow, then why wasn't he already an Espada? Shouldn't he have been Espada 7? I mean, they're ranked based on strength, right? So why does that one guy get left out?
And then of course there's the SS captains where you'd think the closer they get to One the stronger they get (ala Baroque Works), but no, apparently the Squad One captain is the strongest, and then the 8 and 13 Squad Captains are the second strongest, and then it's pretty much anyone's guess as for how the rest of them rank. That always bugged me during the SS arc because I could never gauge how big a threat the individual Captains were and who'd be able to hold their own against them.
Oh yeah, and when Aizen, Gin, and Tosen betrayed SS, why didn't the vice captains from their squads get promoted to captain? Yeah, I know the Vizards were later given back their positions as captains (after they'd been on the run from SS for over a century and clearly stated that they didn't care about SS), but who was running those squads during that interim?
I think Kubo said once that he couldn't possibly see Renji (or some character, I don't know) as a Captain. Cause, you know, god forbid anything interesting ever happen to your characters.
