Anyone else find it strange that this delay happened right after the Madman/Film Z incident?
That was always a tentative date and it got moved in a tentative state. It'll come out soon hopefully.

well josh is going to be on the podcast next week so maybe he'll tell us something

Hey guys, guess what Tuesday is!
-
-
Well the good news is that Josh Kocurek (FUNi's One Piece Brand Manager) is going to be on the next episode of the One Piece Podcast. I don't want to just place automatic expectations upon the crew to make Josh deliver clear and definite information regarding future releases but I think we may have a chance of hearing something.

Bring on collection 10!

New episodes go up late Monday night of every week usually
I'm looking forward to the rest of the month too because they'll be doing stuff for their 5th Anniversary. I've only listened to them for about a year now (and since I was still in the process of catching up with the series I couldn't even listen to whole segments for a while) but they're pretty much the most level-headed and entertaining source of input when it comes to One Piece fans and I'm glad that they're still going strong.

We'll be out a day late this week, so look for the episode Tuesday night at around 11:00PM - 1:00AM EST.

I can't help but feel sorry for Josh and the others who are in charge of these releases because they're probably being swamped with the exact same question right now. I guess on the bright side we'll probably get confirmation about what the plans are tonight so this should hopefully cease.
-
Interesting. For some reason, I thought that the whole delay of S6V1 was more widely known…yet there are still people out there wondering where it is. Hell I forgot that it was SUPPOSED to even be released today. But regardless, hopefully all these questions will spur Funimation into potentially giving us an actual date rather than just a month estimate...hope they also say when they'll release Eva 3.33 too.
-
One Piece Movies 1-3 will be released on July 28, Collection 7 on Aug 11 and Movies 4-6 are set for September 8 in the UK. Don't expect Eva 3.33 any time soon.

UK news? Hmm, interesting nonetheless…the movies will be in "triple features"...which is even BETTER than my hopeful double feature releases idea...unless some of the movies are all being individually released on the same day (which seems kinda unlikely). Hope the "triple feature" DOES become the case w/ these movies in the US! And boo~ to not expecting Eva 3.33 soon. I settled for a crappy cam-rip w/ crappy translation off YT...I know it's a very "polarizing" movie (people either seem to love it, hate it, and few are just "eh" about it), but I really want to see it in HD. If anything, hope we can get some US OP news. ^^

You feel sorry for Funimation's people? They are the ones who decided to use terrible business practices and play silent. Funimation should be prepared for this kind of reaction. If anything, those fans that were lied to with no explanation deserve the sympathy.

Amen!
I wonder what funi's response will be….

Look on the bright side, there's demand. Even if it's not out today, people want it. Always a good thing :D

Here is the word on Season 6:
They are delaying it because of the movie. What a stupid reason to delay a season. Film Z is coming out at the end of September (Sept 30). They also want Thriller Bark to launch alongside it in September.
They said date is tentative, so wait for an official announcement to confirm (as if their announcements mean anything)
-
Not that bad, it is what it is. I can wait for it, I really don't mind that much. Plus, now we know when exactly to expect it.

There really isn't a reason for all of the negativity, be glad there is a date in the first place and nothing more serious was the cause of the delay.

There actually are legitimate reasons to complain about this. They're delaying the set for so long for such an idiotic reason. They also failed to make an announcement on the matter. I believe they should be scolded for being so incompetent about the situation.
-
I'm pretty satisfied with the explanation. I mean, if anything the fact that we may be getting Film Z as early as September is something that I absolutely did not expect; the fact that I'll be able to own a copy of that movie so soon is something that I'm pretty excited about.
Of course, I'm not going to treat this as an 100% official release date until we get the final word from FUNimation, but it's nice to hear that things are moving along smoothly.
-
The reasoning behind why they wanted to rush out with the movie is pretty laughable. He said they stopped production on Season 6 in favor of the movie so they can advertise Film Z at a couple of conventions… And he said they did not plan for a theatrical release and it is essentially too late at this point. I don't think that is worth setting the main series' release back 5 months
-
Did somebody call for a wha-mbulance?
I'm disappointed it's going to be a long wait, but at least we're getting a double whammy. I'm sure it's also going to take a long while to complete the entire movie, not just simply voicing over mouth flaps. There isn't a season 7 on the way just yet, so it's a good thing this hasn't been a bi monthly release post season 5.

Most of this post is just you stating the same things that Josh did about why Season 6 was moved back. I get that you may be disappointed but I don't see any reason why the plan of attack that they mentioned doesn't make sense. Film Z is insanely popular among fans and placing priorities on that movie is pretty easy to understand if you ask me.

I agree, also the fact that season 6 will be available late September or sometime in early October makes sense since Thriller Bark has a halloween kind of theme and what better month to release the beginning of an arc that has that theme than the month of October?
-
I'm happy to hear that Season 6 and Film Z will arrive relatively soon. A three month wait isn't going to kill anyone, even if the date is tentative.
And no one's mentioned the best news yet, which is confirmation that Avril Lavigne's songs will be on the English release of Film Z!
-
Well i still hope all four DVDS come out this year September, October, November, and December. if not then we are going to be even further behind.

Where is everyone getting this information from??
Anyways, wow…. they're truly are some whiny self-entitled OP fans here who are treating this delay and lack of announcement for it way too seriously. I understand what you mean about buisness practices and whatnot but..... dude, it's just an anime series. Nothing to even get slightly bent over shape about.
Glad we do got confirmation, though.

That's not the same thing. I'm not cursing anyone for OP's lackluster ratings. I just wish it'd do better.
Meanwhile people here are outright hostile towards FUNi right now.

No one's being hostile. Only two members are irritated over the delay, but I can understand why since there hasn't been an official announcement until just yesterday.

Well their irritation… at least the way they're protraying it on these forums... seems a lil' too thick for something like this. But I guess I'm just more carefree.
Anyhoo, can't wait for Film Z and season 6!
-
I'm really excited we're getting Film Z so soon. I'm fine with Season 6 starting in September too since that's my birthday month. Also a few months wait is nothing. It will be here in no time.
-
Yeah, plus… the break actually makes a season finale and season premiere more... like a season finale and season premiere. Lol.
I think the only reason they released season 4 and 5 back-to-back was because story-wise... they were linked.

Because i was so looking forward to Brook and Perona dub voices in the anime, also the only canon episode we got last time was Ace vs Blackbeard. after that it was that pointless filler, i skipped thriller bark in the subs which is why i was so greatly looking forward to it in the dub.
-
The delays and time frame sound reasonable. It's a shame FUNimation's response to the Film Z Madman leak and my inquiry about the subject at Anime Boston killed my enthusiasm over it.

Funimation has people wrapped around its finger. I honestly do not understand this weird phenomenon that only seems to happen with anime fans.
Let me start by saying that paying customers are entitled to complain when a company does shoddy business practices. If ANY OTHER company pulled the garbage Funimation is pulling, there would be an outrage. If Apple announced the iPhone 6 for a release date, and then said no more word about it and, come the release date, it didn't come out, do you really think people would be happy with them saying "We decided to stop production on the iPhone 6 in favor of fast tracking the new iPod shuffles. The iPhone 6 will probably come out in like 5 months, but that is tentative."
Nintendo recently announced new Pokemon games for November. Do you think the fans would sit back and take it (like many seem to be doing) if they heard 0 word about the games, and november passed with no release and then Nintendo casually mentioning a 5 month delay in a podcast (with no official word on their website)?
Whether or not it is "just an anime series" does not justify Funimation pulling this kind of move. Funimation is extremely lucky that their fan base sees them as some divine corporation, as any other business would see MASSIVE repercussions for pulling this type of stunt.
Literally all they had to do was announce back a month or so ago was "The One Piece Season 6 release has been delayed until later this year." A simple, professional business move to let their fans know that the release would still be coming. But what do they do? Stay silent until the projected release date passes. They still haven't technically made an official announcement on their website, only through a podcast that most of their fans probably do not even listen to.
Again, I will make it clear that my complaints are not stemming from the idea of a delay or gap between seasons; I understand that production delays can happen. It is the fact that they promised a release date, and then stayed silent about it until the release date passed with no word to their customers. This shows that Funimation does not care about the fans that purchase their products, and it is very saddening to see people sit back happily and encourage this type of behavior by Funimation.
As a side note on the topic of the delay, I find it interesting that Funimation was able to dub Strong World while releasing Seasons 4 + 5 and release without any major delay, but Film Z all of a sudden needs them to halt production for 5 months rather than working on them at the same time.

That's nice bro. But I still think you care too much. Just look at this lengthy post compared to the one you responded to. Lol.
Who has who wrapped around their little finger? Because I'm not condemning FUNi for their lack-of-announcement of the delay for a friggin' anime DVD?
For the record, no type of item being delayed without a word will phase me much. Yeah, I might be a bit disappointed but that's about it. I got other things to keep my interest and beisdes, I know I'll eventually have it.
That's how I look at it anyways. Continue being pissed off at FUNi for this atrocity they have committed. If you're this adamant about it, take it to the next level and boycott them.
Oh yeah, I remember you were mad that FUNi apparently takes care of Fairy Tail better than it does OP. Now that I see that the Fairy Tail dub release is catching up to Japan, while OP is still being delayed despite being way behind, you might be right.
Perhaps One Piece just doesn't make enough money to be a priority anymore. Wouldn't surprise me.
-
…............What the fuck is going on in this thread?
Can the 2-3 dudes who are bitching and arguing about the delay just get over it already? It's not that serious. Good Lord.
-
Well I for one am just glad to know what's up and I'll still be buying season 6 and Film Z regardless. So guess what? Even though it's a bit disappointing, I can wait the summer out and enjoy other things in the meantime.
-
Although its not completely wrong official I'm glad we got a tentative release date this fall should be great
-
So, we finally have an official word on season 6 and Film Z. I was a little annoyed at first but I guess I understand the reason behind the delay.
Even though they're tentative, it's good to know that we have estimated dates for the upcoming releases…. Time to save more money for the double release.
