We've heard Akainu in Season 5 already though, in Robin's flashback. Only new canon character is Kizaru.
Yeah but he was like 20 years younger in that flashback and in the Japanese had a completely different voice actor. Doesn't count in my book.

This is aggravating. Three month delay with no explanation or replacement date. Not nice.

Where is this? I can't find any Funi July solicitations.

OT: huh, I didn't know the animeondvd/mania forum "rebranded" into fandompost. I kept my mania forum bookmark hoping, "We are down for maintenance! Please check back later." actually meant they were coming back. Guess I can finally drop that particular bookmark
Geez… you guys are taking this hard.
We had two straight season's back-to-back. While I can understand being bummed out, this is really not a big deal. Delays happen.
And also, this is America.... we often operate on breaks between seasons with shows here. Honestly, if its now slated for Fall, then so be it. I'm fine with it, anyway.
its more the fact that there has not been an explanation yet as to why it is delayed and no new date has been announced which is making people uneasy.
Doesn't take much to make people uneasy around here.
Remember the old adage, "No news is good news."
Seriously though, the fact that they had previously announced a release date, yet pushed it back would be suggestive of something either last minute or unexpected (probably both). Colleen's pregnancy would certainly fall under both of those.

Yep, that happened in 2009 I believe.

Actually that "down for maintenance" thing in the forums popped up only a few months ago. I just go over to Fandom Post forums anyway since that is a continuation of that "in spirit".

Oh, I meant Fandom Post launching. Didn't realize Mania actually went down.
Amazon vs Right Stuf.
Looks like I'm going back to Right Stuf. Had I ordered my Collection 9 with them I would probly already have it. Looks like Amazon is taking it's time waiting for the official release before sending it out. :(

I don't recall Amazon ever shipping out before the official release date. Every time I've pre-ordered from them they waited til the official release date every single time. I find Amazon to be better in orders over 35 dollars and the official release date has already passed for what you are ordering. Pre-ordering I think Right Stuf is better if you want it ASAP, and Amazon is usually better since, from my own experience, it's usually cheaper. It's listed as 26 dollars on Right Stuf and 15 dollars on Amazon. So, if it's money that is most important than I would go with Amazon.
I just got notification that my copy of Collection 9 has shipped, so that's good. I'm looking forward to listening to more cast member commentary.
I also hope that we get at least one more Collection before to hold us over before Season 6 officially starts. I won't be upset if we don't get that, but it wouldn't hurt at the same time.

Fyi there is no new cast commentary on collection 9. Just the same ones from previous releases.
You mean collection 9.
Do you think funimation will mention One Piece at Sakura-Con?
Do you think funimation will mention One Piece at Sakura-Con?
Considering Z was their most recent OP announcement I'd guess they'll probably say something about that
All this time I've been wondering why everyone though that season 6 was being delayed. It has now been confirmed that it is not being delayed.
Edit: n](http://onepiecepodcast.com/2014/01/17/funimation-announces-one-piece-season-6/)evermind, I just realized that this post was from January.
I still wonder why people have been saying that it has been delayed, though. Has there been an announcement that it has been delayed or is everyone just speculating?
It's not speculation anymore. Funimation puts up their preorders/solicitations monthly. The may preorders/solicitations came out months ago, and Season 6 wasn't among them. Hasn't been among the June or July solicitations either. And Maron had it confirmed at a convention that it was delayed, but will be released sometime this year.
No announcements have been made explaining why.
I must admit to wondering if even though the DVD has been delayed if the subbed online episodes will be as well…..I mean, it wouldn't be the first time they put them up prior to DVD release.
In case there was any doubt, the solicits for July are out from FUNimation and One Piece season 6 is nowhere to be found. Collection 10 isn't listed either.
Maybe Funimation's delaying the set as to not conflict with the Attack on Titan release? I mean, Titan and One Piece coming out basically back to back would probably harm the sales of both series (but probably One Piece's more than Titan's), so maybe they're just waiting till after Titan gets released and thing settle down before putting out the next One Piece set?

Honestly with funI, you can never tell. I'm just glad we are getting it at all.
Hmm. Weird. I could'a sworn that would be the reason.
Then… what the hell... what could it be? Lmao.
No delays in recording, huh? Maybe Funi just likes to fuck around with OP fans, making us wait longer:ninja:
Honestly though, I was pretty sure Steph's and Colleen's pregnancies were the main reasons for S6's delay. Now I have no clue what the real cause is.
They aren't going to delay it til like halloween are they cause you know… big halloween vibe... >_>
I didn't think that was the reason, no idea what else it could be.
Random thought but I just finished rewatching the baroque works saga. and seeing bon clay's speech when he sacrificed himself for the strawhats just made me think that I can't wait for Barry yandell to reprise his role for impel down.
Hopefully Funimation says something at Sakura-Con this weekend… I really dislike how they are so quiet about everything, especially regarding OP

yeah that will be pretty cool, most of the straw hats VAs won't have much work for quite awhile in all that impel down/marineford arc poor Colleen lol, can't wait to see Mike do Buggy again aswell.
Check out this discussion on Colleen's twitter page, it seems like her pregnancy has had no effect on recording…
I wonder why they are delaying things then?
This is old news, and she even said on the podcast back in Jan. or Feb. that she doesn't know. But hopefully people stop guessing this.

They don't announce release dates at cons really…

Wasn't there another source that said she will have to stop recording a certain time before and after she gives birth? Considering we know about where they are in recording, a delay makes more sense as they are waiting to see if they can st least finish Colleen's recording before this happens, otherwise they could be stuck with a forced break mid-season. How would you like to get the first two voyages only then to have to wait six months for voyage three? At least by delaying now, they could readjust the releases so something like that doesnt happen. And probably get a smaller interval between voyages to boot.
Wasn't there another source that said she will have to stop recording a certain time before and after she gives birth?
I don't think so…but it's not unreasonable for her to take some leave to spend time with her new baby.
I have a feeling that the reason for the delay might be due to a miscommunication or something unforeseen with Toei or some other party. The reason I believe that is because FUNi never addressed the delay themselves and (obviously) still haven't, which leads me to believe it could've been a breach of contract or something. The cast apparently don't know the reason either. If it was some sort of in-studio recording or technical issue then they would have addressed it in some way, with even a simple tweet at the very least.

I don't see Collection 10 coming out til around September. August wouldn't surprise me and is possible but sometime in September is most likely. July just doesn't make a lick of sense. My reason: September is 6 months after March. What does that have to do with anything? Collection 8 (when funimation caught up with the voyages, the collection came out 1.5 years (roughly) after the last voyage that made up that specific collection. Collection 8 is made up of Season 3 voyages 4 and 5. Voyage 5 came out April 19th, 2011. Collection 8 came out on September 25th, 2012. That's 1 year 5 months and roughly a week. (75 weeks to be exact) Then there was a huge break between season 3 and season 4. Causing a delay in the collections. Season 4 voyage 2 (the second voyage of collection 9) came out on October 30th, 2012. 1.5 years later would be April 30, 2014. Collection 9 ended up coming out April 15th. So, roughly 2 weeks shy of being 1.5 years. (76 weeks to be exact) So, roughly 1.5 years after the voyages have came out the collections will come out. Season 4 voyage 4 (the second voyage in collection 10) came out on March 19th, 2013. Well, 1.5 years later would be September 19th, 2014. September 19th falls on a Friday, so it won't be that day. 76 weeks later would be September 2nd. So, September is most likely the month it will be, but it could be late August.
Using this logic. Collection 11 would come out roughly on January 6th, 2015 (give or take a week or two).
Collection 12 would come out on March 31st, 2015 give or take a few weeks.
Collection 13 would come out on June 30th, 2015 give or take a few weeks.
Collection 14 would be determined based off of when Season 6 voyage 1 comes out.

I don't think so
I am about to propose a radical new idea, one which will blow all your minds simultaneously.
Why don't we just wait for the releases and not try and hypothesize when collections and voyages are going to come out. FUNimation WILL release all the sets and they'll come out before you know it. Let's let people live their lives, do their work, and then we can support the series. There's no reason to start freaking out.

This is, of course, under the assumption that just because someone is hypothesizing when they think the collections/voyages are going to come out that they are starting to freak out if it doesn't come out when they guessed it would. While I agree that the sets will come out when they come out it doesn't mean that all of us (I know some of the people on here are) are freaking out. I also think that anyone that is freaking out should just take a minute and relax because at the end of they day they will come out when they come out and as Brook told Chopper on Sabaody, (paraphrasing) whether we freak out or we wait patiently, the time we wait will still be the same. I don't know, for me at least, I like trying to figure out when companies are going to come out with releases. Try and figure out if they have a pattern and what their reasons for coming up with such patterns. This could just be the marketer inside of me, but that kind of thing does interest me and I enjoy discussing it.

Thank you, Zach. I was going to post something similar. The sets will come out when they come out.
Sure, he had too much speculation, but several people yelling at him for it is overkill.
I don't care when the collections come out, only when the next voyage does. Can't wait to see TB. It's been too long since non-filler OP.

I honestly don't get why everyone is getting so hyped about this. It was one thing when Funimation worked through their initial Season 1-3 set and there was like a year long break before Season 4. This time around we got the Film Z announcement before the end of the year and we JUST FINISHED Season Five. With Funi focusing their efforts on promoting Attack on Titan I actually appreciate the breather between seasons.
The funny thing was I already planning on taking a break after Season 5 anyway - back when S6 was slated to come out right after. So yeah I'm cool with the wait personally. And knowing Film Z is out this Fall is just the icing on the cake.

Probably a combination of:
They are already 300+ episodes behind, so any delay just puts them further back behind the Japanese release
We were given an expected release of May, and have heard nothing of it since. If Funimation would have announced Season 6 for a release in the summer or fall, there would be no problems. It's the fact that they hyped us for a May release and then just went quiet that is not cool. They could at least say something about it
The latest release was a bunch of filler, so we haven't had any canon content since like January
We were given such a speedy release schedule for season 5, so the delay in season 6 makes the wait even more annoying to deal with, especially since it hasn't been addressed

Yea idk why everyones in a rush, at this pace, Marineford is gonna release in like 2016, which isn't too bad, the series has 10+ years anyway, so were going to be waiting in some form or fashion regardless, One Piece is a slow series plain & simple, so yea lets follow Zach's advice, this argument includes the Toonami fiasco as well
I'm glad I wasn't on these forums back in the 2006-2012 days, musta been hard waiting for everything back then in comparison, With the OP Podcast, Water 7 on Toonami, Crunchyroll, and Netflix in the works, and the DVDs approaching Thriller Bark, One Piece seems like its pretty set in the States, based on all this, the series doesn't look like its doomed in North America guys, relax

I remember waiting for each con to see if they licensed the season…and then they end up just announcing it on the podcast. :p
Yeah, with the announcement of Film Z and other great news, I really am not concerned in the slightest about finding out the new release date. Yeah, it would be nice to hear exactly why it happened, but at the end of the day I don't really need to know.
So apparently no word of One Piece at today's panel at Sakuracon, although Funimation did outline the entire year's release schedule for Fairy Tail
Well, I certainly can't speak for anyone else and anyone who has followed this thread knows that I have always had the utmost confidence in season six (and further) coming. I just like the analysis and theorizing why it's been delayed because it is, currently, a mystery. And those are always fun to try and solve.

I'm the same way. To me it's fun. Just like we find it fun to try and solve, some people may find it annoying that we are like that and just want to not talk about it until it does come out. So, when they see people analyzing and theorizing why, they might interpret that as us complaining or freaking out.
