I don't know, it was a spur of the moment. Reading these 2 makes me want to enjoy in a lighhearted parody of the genre.

You mean there may still be more past 2014?
For fuck's sake.
that was a rumor…Kishi only said the manga is on it's last leg/close to end...but no tentative time...
though i think there are another 40-50 chapters left...
Could you break down your estimate? How would these 5-6 volumes naruto would be distributed?
As I noted before (somewhere else), the series with the longest epilogue:
(Bunch of WSJ Ending Spoilers, DB, Medaka, Beelzebub, Houshin Engi, Sket Dance, Ruroni Kenshin, Shaman King
! that I've read has been medaka box with like 3-4 chapters for the final "goodbye arc", while Dragon Ball ended the next chapter that Buu died, Kenshin ended the next chapter after Enshi was defeated, Beelzebub ended the next chapter that Lucifer was defeated, Houshin Engin ended the next chapter that the end boss was defeated, Shaman King… doesn't count, but with the Kanzenban it ended the same chapter Hao got bored, Sket Dance right after graduation day, Bakuman 2 chapters after overcoming the guy of crow, Jojo doesn't end, it just gets reborn, but a part usualy ends the chapter the villian gets defeated..
Naruto being naruto could get a while longer, in acount of being one of the longest running series, and in a handful of 5, it could get more, but with Kishi's track record, I could see him wraping up the side characters in one chapter and the main characters in the other.

read Kongaku Gakuen(Prison School) if you are thirsty for comedy manga…
It's hanging on by a thread. But I'm almost scared to know how many chapters this Naruto/Sasuke vs Madara super-power up battle will be.
Remember I looked up how many chapters this war has been? Let's update that.
This time….I think it makes sense to mark the beginning with chapter 515, or "The Great War Begins!", no? We are at….673, right?
That's 158 chapters.
158 of 673 is roughly 23.5%…..factoring in the rest of the year at best, I have the feeling this war will get up to 25%.
1/4 of Naruto's story on this. My word.

15-20 chapters fight with Madara..3-5 chapters of Madara's 'awakening'/confession after defeat…15-20 chapters of fight with freed Jubi/Shinji...then another 5 chapters to wrap up(provided no Naruto vs. Sasuke or just a symbolic 'one jutsu' attack to decide who is stronger)..
It's not like Kishimoto himself believes it anymore, saying how the series is ending soon is just an annual tradition.
If anything Kishimoto is just as apathetic about the ending as his readers are.
it is his manga,so his choice…
I don't see a fight with the Jubii happening, just a "Talk no jutsu" and a pat in the back of "you can go grow in the moon happilly ever after", done in 3 chapters, 5 if they have to overpower it first.
Madara Fight, if it didn't start this weirdly, I'd agree with you, but I see it in only 10 chapters, even with terrible pacing. The naruto/sasuke has to happen, but I don't see it lasting more than 2 chapters, it will be one symbolic clash and that's it. And 3 chapters for the ending, One for the other countries, one for konoha and one for the hokage crowning. Madara has enough flashbacks as it is, his redemption is included in the 10 chapters of battle.
My estimate is at 10 + 5 + 2 + 3: 20 chapters? That's my prediction, letting the 3forall battle be bloathed. Maybe 4 chapters more in the Naruto vs Sasuke fight if kishi wants to keep pushing the brothers down our troaths.
I resent the fact that there was no mention of a father anywhere. Was he just some chump Playboy Bunny used? Gimme a break Kishi.
….........
20 chapters means 5 months..words would have been out in the market that Naruto is ending by September….Naruto's ending is going to be a big event(unlike Bleach) in WSJ's history...they won't miss the opportunity to hype it for the last few months...
Many series get the soon to end announcement relatively close to the end, so it wouldn't surprise me if they do the same with naruto.

I lost it at "Jojo doesn't end" xDD Also, for the last number of chapters you have to factor in the all the flashbacks, from the Madara one, the Juubi one, the Mother one and maybe even the one of the caterpiller that is like 500 miles aways but can see the fight from a ditstance and will remember how his village got destroyed by a younger Sasuke and how he swore to destroy him by building a fake crow so he can shove it down his mouth.
The point is, that with naruto, we are in uncharted territory:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_manga_series_by_volume_count
Just taking in acount the WSJ series, only:
Kochikame (Ongoing)
Jojo's (Special)
Captain Tsubasa (Finished but it has spinoff and stuff)
One Piece (Ongoing)
Naruto (Ongoing)
Bleach (Ongoing)
Gintama (Ongoing)
Prince of Tenis (Ongoing)
Are over 50 Volumes, we have no precedents, as Dragon Ball and Reborn (grouped because volume length) ended very normaly, and out of the blue in the case of DB, If someone had read Roukedan's Blues, Wolf Circuit, Kinnikuman's transfer.
There are other Shueisha series that have lasted as long and ended, but it's different, those magazines have lower prints.
But then again, series ending in WSJ are usualy a quick and low key business, Color pages, ending and done.
Shonen Jack never announces the endings far in advance.
The length of the series doesn't have anything to do with its ending. Just like always, popularity is what you go by. Unpopular comics quietly die down back at the end of the magazine with only the closest relatives attending the funeral. Popular comics get center colour pages to celebrate their retirement with the whole office going out to drink. National treasures get cover, lead colour pages, eternal gratitude of the people and eventual deification right into the shinto pantheon, I imagine.
The biggest series to end in Shounen Jack in the last decade was Bakuman. Up until the last chapter there was no announcement (although logical plot progression and volume length made it easy to speculate), and it got a center colour page for its last chapter. Naruto is a bigger franchise, but I can't see its ending having more of a fanfare.
How would you know that the ending was coming "months in advance" anyway when they draw up the chapters and send them in only a few weeks in advance for printing
Hell I've been expecting the finale for Naruto for ages and I think I've already started growing one of those long asian kung fu master beards while waiting.
Naruto is never going to end. It's going to be a never ending manga stuck in mediocrity like an eternal genjutsu. Whenever someone dies they'll just be revived/regenerated and given a new powerup to keep fighting. When the fighting does finally end…that's when the alien nazis attack.
That's Kishimoto's ultimate plan.
Nardo will end probably in 30-40 chapters.
The amount of time it will take for Naruto to finish is the same as the amount of time it takes for a person to finish a race while bisecting the distance leftover every second.
where has ichigo been?
^Still running down Snake Way.

I think there was at least 1 night right? With the whole Sakura thing and some guy who confessed his love for her? My memory is blurry.
Oh right, that M.A.S.H. part.

Well 50% of "the war" are flashbacks
I miss Ulquiorra.

And each side lost equally half of their forces.
And each side lost equally half of their forces.
It's even funnier. I was looking back at old chapters to see how long this fight with Madara's been going on, and the best part was when Madara casted Double Meteor, and one of the ninja protected a clone of Naruto because the clone was more valuable than the rest of the fodder around him.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Well, when I read it I just laughed.
However, when Naruto finally becomes Hokage, he will give them the treatment they deserve…
Hahaha I always loved that scene.
Well 50% of "the war" are flashbacks
Ah, good thinking, flashbacks. We'll get up 25% in no time flat when you consider more of those floating about.
And each side lost equally half of their forces.
lol
Just a reminder that Yamato is still stuck in a wall

Actually, there's a good chance he's the one the Zetsu shell.
No, it must be because Ulquiorra's facial expression perfectly encapsulates our very own expression when reading a Bleach chapter!

How wrong can you possibly be? Ulquiorra never expressed disgust!
@Purple:
How wrong can you possibly be? Ulquiorra never expressed disgust!
Haha, you're right! I blame Ulquiorra's stagnant visage.
You guys haven't yet reached the deeper level of Bleach reactions if you still feel disgust.

I have, but how do you describe "The Heart" in normal conversation?
The awfulness of The Heart is much exaggerated, honestly. Yammy's "Who said Espada go to from 1 to 9", the Fullbringer nonsense, and what is happening now are all far worse. And yet, because this is Bleach, all it should result in is an amused, sardonic "meh".
Frustrated disgust should be spared for things that deserve it. Like One Piece, for instance. :P
I also only feel Emptyness (which was Ulquiorra's aspect) when it comes to Bleach.
No, it must be because Ulquiorra's facial expression perfectly encapsulates our very own expression when reading a Bleach chapter!
P-p-p-poker face?
!
Ulquiorra was a decent threat when he first appeared, hyping the danger level of the Arrancar army, but then Hueco Mundo didn't end up nearly as engaging as SS was.
Kubo tried to characterize him a little with his philosophical conundrum ("what is a heart?"), which could have shed some light on Hollow culture… but I feel like what Hollows think and feel is super inconsistent. Can they remember their past lives? Are they cruel and predatory by nature (lacking a heart) or can they exhibit nobility (the curious case of Nel)? The ambiguity of it might have actually been intriguing if it were ever expounded upon, but in the end Hueco Mundo was nothing more than a long string of fights--much like now. Hey, at least the Mayuri vs. Szayel fight was good.
How can you be frustrated by Bleach if you no longer expect anything good out of it?
This suffices to sum up my reaction to Bleach every week:
Instead of discussing Bleach every week, we can do something more interesting and productive, like reading and rereading Black Lagoon.:ninja:
But that's the beauty of not living in the Bleach world; I'm allowed to feel disgusted at whatever I want rather than be bland and emotionless at all instances.
Something not so pointless:

Naruto 674 from Ishuhui
This chapter features Madara getting beat up, i like this already
