Time to own up: I always cry a little at the launching of the sea train.
Emotional moments in One Piece
-
-
I found it surprisingly touching when Luffy finally makes his way into the crater in Gaimon's island and discovers the poor git's been standing guard over nothing for twenty years.
-
@omae:
I mean…..they did leave a disciple of Tom behind so there's gonna be something nice waiting for 'em when they get back.
Does Kaya have a Den Den Mushi? If so, I'd love to see Iceburg whip up a "modified Merry" based on improvements to the GM's blueprints.
-
But remember what the shipwrights saying something about it not being the same ship, or not the same feel?
-
When Dvorjak's symphony starts playing as Luffy unleashes his final attack on Crocodile.
The music + attack + conclusion just made it the best scene in the entire series for me thus far. It was PERFECT.
I hope the end of Enies Lobby is just as great musically, like Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner or something similar that has a big finish.
-
The emotional peak of the Skypeia arc (and one of my favorite panels/pages in the manga) was Luffy's shadow in the sky. Triumph!
Yeahh!! That was one too!! It still gives me the chill.. ^^
-
@yokaiforte:
But remember what the shipwrights saying something about it not being the same ship, or not the same feel?
That's a problem if the Strawhats try to pretend the new ship is The Going Merry Go. When they do that, they won't be satisfied and things will seem out of place; but if the Strawhats have moved on with Merry's death, they'll be cool with a new ship.
However, simply rebuilding another Going Merry from the same blueprints Merry used to build the first ship won't do; even with the best wood and the best shipwrights won't be able to make a ship that can go further down Grand Line. As such, Iceburg should make "improvements" to the ship; I would like to see the new vessel larger, sporting more sails, a hold, more cannons but the same layout and figurehead. It need not be a huge ship like Kuro, Krieg, Arlong or Buggy, but something large enough to support an eventual ten crew members but still be manageble.
-
-Shanks giving his hat to luffy. It's where it all began.
-Nami's past
-Chopper's past
-Luffy beating crocodile. I remember letting out a big sigh of relief and saying "It's over"
-Where the strawhats say good bye to vivi. More so in the anime I liked this one. They just stand there while the marines are shooting at them.
-Usopp going to the Franky house to try to get the money back.
-Luffy vs Usopp. Whenever I see this fight I always am brought to tears -
Besides the moments mentioned, Zoro getting cut down by Mihawk always got to me, no matter how many times I read/watched it. Also, the classic line of Smoker: "Tell them to go eat shit!"
-
I don't know why but the whole thing with Toto back in Yuba always got me…
-
-Luffy yelling out that the golden bell is in the sky and norland's descendent and others hear it
-Omae wa ore no nakama da!
-Luffy and co seeing usopp beat up and then destroying the franky family house. -
I'm suprised no ones mentioned Zoro's emotional claim "I will be the World's Greatest Swordsman" after being beaten by Mihawk. One Piece was a very good manga before that, but After this moment IMO One Piece started to set itself apart form the whole Shonen genre.

I mentioned it, actually.
Yeah, that was pretty freaking amazing. Skypiea had many emotional parts, actually. The Norland flashback, the ringing of the bell, and Conis' father taking "God's Judgement" were all pretty emotional. Some others would have to be:
- Nami's Flashback
- Chopper's Flashback
- Robin's Flashback
- Vivi's Speech
- Bon-Clay's parting words to the Mugiwara
- The Oath
- Arlong Park
- Sanji leaving the Baratie
- Usopp VS Luffy
-
Another emotional moment I remembered was it starting to rain in alabasta during Vivi's "stop fighting!" speech. Dunno if it's been posted already, I just though of it.
-

Yes, it was a very beautiful epsiode if you ask me, almost brought me to tears.
-
the one where sanji left the baratie was also touching..
when he thought that too leave without a word is better.. and then zeff suddenly called him.. and said goodbye.. and everybody started saying their goodbye.. its so touching.. T_T
-
@gilrules2000:
-Luffy yelling out that the golden bell is in the sky and norland's descendent and others hear i
 Ohhh myyyyy. Sniff
-
For me, the most emotional scene is when Luffy climbs the mountain in the drum arc, with Nami strapped at his back and Sanji between his teeth. The climb was torturous, but what get me is Luffy preseverance, his unwillingness to let any of them go. And when he reach the top with his fingers and toes all bloodied, physically and mentally exhausted, the first thing he ask for is for them to save his nakama.

Awh man!!! How did I forget about that…
-
Pretty much all the scenes in this topic has made me cry-ish. I dont cry very easily, but they did make an impact.
-

Yeah, I liked that bit too. Also, I liked Mihawk's challenge to Zoro: ''I am Julakil Mihawk. It is too soon for you to die. You have to learn more about the world, and discover your true self. You have to become stronger, Roronoah Zoro. No matter how long it will take, I will always be the greatest swordsman in the world and will be waiting for you. DARE TO CHALLENGE ME AGAIN, RORONOAH ZORO!''
Also, I liked the bit when Luffy finally beat Arlong. ''NAMI! YOU ARE MY FRIEND!''
-
The prelude to the Drum Island arc (this song's 2nd half is very reminiscent of the events). This thread should probably be in Anime (for me anyway) since music, direction, and better translation (though not always canon) causes not just many One Piece scenes to be good (Toei mostly does a good job), but mainly the really emotional scenes. I'm not too good at reading manga apparently, but I still have feelings when reading through certain chapters. Reading new chapters I've seem to grown accustomed to, making me enjoy them more, even if right now aren't exactly the best moments known in the story thus far. Anyway /offtopic
edit: oh yeah that too: below.
-
A moment that really got me is within the Mr. 4/ Ms. Merry Christmas vs. Usopp/Chopper. I was really moved when Usopp was hit in the head by Mr. 4 and still gets up to defend Luffy's dreams. The lines he speaks always gets to me. I wish Usopp were my buddy.
-
Episode 126 where Luffy defeats Croc with the classical music playing in the background.
(New World Symphony Movement 4 by Dvorak)
That ending was simply…. beautiful.
-
I also got pissed at some bits….for example when the WG covered up Luffy's defeat of Crocodile and lied that Smoker beat him (Luffy'll get them one day for that, mark my words.)
Also, when Zoro and Luffy didn't fight back against Bellamy, even though they were both clearly stronger than him.
-
There was a reason they didn't fight back against Bellamy, and it wasn't because of their promise to Nami.
They were paralelling what Shanks and Beckman did at the beginning of the manga. Remember? Shanks had a dream, Higuma the Bear was a guy who laughed at dreams. Shanks didn't even flinch when Higuma beat him up.
Luffy's flashback after that happened should've connected the two. He recalled Shanks saying:
Shanks: Listen, bandits…
I don't care if I get liquor and food thrown at my head.
Even if I get spit on, I can laugh it off most of the time.
...BUT!!
FOR NO REASON!!
WILL I EVER FORGIVE ANYONE WHO HURTS MY FRIENDS!!!!That was one of the most respectful moments for me in the manga, to be honest. I wouldn't bother fighting "Trash" like Bellamy either. The only reason he bothered fighting Bellamy was because he "hurt his friend". (In this case, Cricket)
-
Oh yeah that part too. Was trying to think of parts not mentioned much so now I have Drum prelude, and both Shanks's shining moment and its parallel. The whole Mock Town was insane(ly good). Same with Loguetown, and Water 7's introduction events. Also the Sanji/Zoro+Luffy Daveyback fights.
-
How about when Usopp yells at Luffy in the recent chapters? Luffy taking direct hits from Rokuougan to save his nakama…Luffy...insert exaggerated crying sound effect
-
The scene from ChopChopCannon's signature was the most emotional for me.
-
@Fire Fist:

Yeah, I thought of that, but IMO it was a pretty stupid reason not to fight back.
-

Did you read the rest of Ace's post?

Realize that there's no reason picking fights with random people that think that they're better and you and really haven't done anything to you. They're just trash.
-
Yeah, I thought of that, but IMO it was a pretty stupid reason not to fight back.
I literally went "WHHAAT?" after reading that. I actually wanted them to fight back too, but the scene with Blackbeard afterwards, and Luffy vs. Bellamy makes for some awesome retrospect.
Also I get so overwhelmed every time I watch that drunkard trying to comprehend the amount of zero's in Luffy's 100 million bounty.
-
Let's see…
-when Robin and Olvia embrace and cry
-Bellemere's death
-Hiriluk's death
-Usopp screaming the pirates are coming as a boyThose are sad, these are the other ones...
-Luffy hitting Crocodile with Storm (awe)
-Kaku being revealed as a giraffe (laughter)
-Zoro catching Robin after she was zapped by Eneru
-Norland being executedAmong many others that I can't remember at the moment.
-
This post is deleted!

Emotional moments in One Piece, huh? I could name a few…...
The first of them would have to be in Romance Dawn. Shanks's speech to the mountain bandits are actually words to live by... Hell, just look at the kind of person Luffy grew up to be! I also jumped out of my seat a bit when I noticed that Shanks lost his arm. Oh, and let's not forget when Shanks entrusted his cherished straw hat to Luffy (the moment that set the stage for Luffy's journey)! Lastly, I'll have to say when young Zoro discovered that Kuina died from a nasty fall after they made that promise to each other.
The only real emotional moment during the Buggy Arc is when ChuChu sat and howled while the pet food store burned to the ground. Then, there's the part where Luffy went to clobber Mohji. This was also kinda scary, because this is the first time readers ever saw Luffy become furious.
IMO, Captain Kuro was the first villain that didn't get taken down soon enough! Especially when he was telling Kaya how pathetic she was and how he wanted nothing but to kill her for the past three years! Good thing Luffy sucker-punched him after that! Usopp's brief past showed readers that all of the lies hide a lonely boy who desires attention.
During the Baratie Arc, it was so hard to see Zoro get owned by Mihawk! After seeing how much of a badass Zoro is, it was mindblowing to learn that there was someone even more of a badass!
The Arlong Arc is a no-brainer. Bellemere's story and her sacrifice; Nami's breakdown and her faint plea for Luffy's help; and Usopp finding his courage against Chuu, because he realized that if he didn't fight, he wouldn't have the right to be on Luffy's crew. Speaking of Luffy, I was feeling every ounce of his rage when he tore apart Nami's cartography room!
Chopper's story was much more tragic than I would've thought! It was just crushing to watch him wave Dr. Hiruluk's flag outside of Dr. Kureha's house, begging her to make him a doctor. Also, seeing Hiruluk's experiment being brought to life was the perfect ending to that arc.
In the Alabasta Arc, I'd have to pick Usopp taking a 4-ton baseball bat to the face and getting back up to fight. The Straw Hat Crew's farewell to Vivi was another perfect ending to an arc.
On the subject of douchebag villains, Bellamy definitely takes the taco. Not since Kuro or Arlong, have I met a villain that I despised as much as him. He was the true definition of a villain that we love to hate! Luffy had nothing to prove to him... until he messed with Cricket, that is.
The most emotional moment in Skypiea is Luffy's determination to ring the golden bell for Cricket. Even if he had to use Enel to do it.
Everything that's happened after the Davy Back Fight has been a rollercoaster of emotions!
-The crew learning that the Merry was done for (which led to...)
-The falling out between Luffy and Usopp (most heartrending moment in One Piece EVER)
-Robin ditching the crew (I know why she did it now, but I was disappointed at first, because she was really growing on me)
-The unveiling of Iceburg's would-be killers (seriously, who saw it coming?)
-Nami begging Luffy to help Robin (the only time she couldn't tolerate Luffy's idiocy that WASN'T for comic relief)
-Usopp learning that the Merry was done for (maybe it was for his own good)
-Franky's past (also a glimpse at how corrupt the World Goverment is)
-The Straw Hats gathering to rescue Robin (it's the Arlong Park march X10)
-Robin's past (most tragic backstory; also revealed a HUGE underlying plot for the entire series)
-Sanji declaring his refusal to strike a female, even if it meant the death of him (sure, he was a silky-smooth dummy, but that didn't detract from the moment)
-Spandam smacking around a defenseless Robin (because of this, I hated him more than any other OP villain for a while)
-Sogeking sniping Spandam and saving Robin from being taken thru the Gate's of Justice (WTF is up with people saying that Usopp didn't do anything important in this arc?!)I know I listed pretty much all of them, but it's really not an easy choice to make. There isn't a single moment in OP that HASN'T moved me, and that's why I love it so much!
-
To mention the other kind of "Emotional" moments in One Piece….
1. Nami showing off in the Alabasta bath.
2. Nami and Vivi in Alabasta garments for the 1st time :wub:3. Robin and Nami in Movie 7, especially their gowns.
4. Nami in Jango's dance dance video... he he he
-
- when Zoro said his speech after being defeated by Milhawk
- Luffy punching Don Kreig even though he had a spiked cape
- after Luffy agrees to help Nami in Arlong Park, we can see all the others just standing/sitting
- Luffy climbing the Drum mountain
- when everyone realized that the bomb in the clock tower was a timed bomb
- all the StrawHats showing the cross on their arms to Vivi
- when Luffy rings the bell in Skypiea
- after Luffy vs. Usopp, Zoro saying that it was heavy to be a captain
-
Intense moments
-
Skypiea's past for sure. Especially when Calgara joined forces with Norland to help his people. Touching stuff right there. Oh, and Norland's execution.
-
Luffy ringing the golden bell. It made me shead tears almost through the rest of the chapter.
! Sogeking burning the WG flag, Nico Robin's flashback of Saul saying that her nakama are waiting, and "I WANNA LIVE!"
No more spoilers for me. I was skimming through for Jyabura pics. =3Funny
- Zoro diving into the clouds after the Mugiwara landed in Sky Island.
- His line posing line back at Little Garden when the crew were about to become candles.
- Gedatsu unable to find Chopper, because he rolled his eyes in the back of his head.
- Ms. MerryChristmas being called penguin.
- "That's sexual harrassment." ~Kalifa
-
-
There are a few that mentioned chopper's arc. That arc is definitely full of intense emotions.
Hilruk "I will die when people forget about me… even though i die my dream will come true and the hearts of the people will be cured...". Ohhh... that's so ..sniff...sad. It's a classic.
Although seemingly stupid, it still broke my heart when Hilruk drank chopper's "cure".
and then chopper waves the flag in front of kureha's house crying...jeez he's so cute when crying...
of and finally the fullfillment of hilruk's wishes for chopper. becoming a doctor, a pirate, and having friends who'll be there for him... and to top that... the pink snow scene. beautiful.
pretty much every arc is emotional... i also liked it when ussop disbanded Ussop's pirates... luffy ringing the bell... the flash backs...
One piece is a complete mix of emotions, Oda is a genius in playing and balancing those factors.
-
Ace died most emotional moment of one piece.
-
Bellamy crying After he got kicked by Dellinger… Muhahhaha
-
1. Sanji goodbye at Baratie
2. Nami flash back, Nami stabbing her harm
3. Mary's death, i cried lol especially when Luffy was talking how the help destroy it
4. Water seven had me through and through, Ussop getting beaten up, the revenge by the Straw Hats, the fight between Luffy and Ussop, Robin leaving the crew, the burning of the flag, the "I WANT TO LIVE"!! to her flash back, Ussop cryng "LUFFY!!" when he was fighting Luci
5. When Croc had Luffy on his hook remember Luffy was winning easily up to that point this shows how Shibukis are dangerous
6.Chopper flash back
7. when the Straw Hats were getting destroyed by Kuma and Kizaro and Luffy couldn't do a thing plus othersLooking back it makes me wonder if One Piece then was better than now
-

Could you explain this one?
-
I'm a grown man, but these 3 scenes always make me shed a tear or two:
-Sanji leaving Baratie, how both him and Zeff holding back until the very last moment
-Hiruluk's story, not just his final speech, but his whole relationship with Chopper
-Tom's story, speech and death and Franky aftermath -
The most emotional moments in OP for me are;
- Robin's "I want to live!" at Enies Lobby
- Chopper and Hiruluk's flashback
- The aftermath of the fight between Luffy and Usopp
- Luffy's call to Nami after he destroys Arlong Park
-

I don't get the romance in that really. Why the hassle of getting bloody and all!? Hhmmmm but I guess that's what CoC is for! lol
OT: Robin's I Wada Lib!
-
Underrated: When Chopper was picked by Foxxy and co. as the prize upon winning the first contest in the Davy Back fight, he was crying saying that he went out to the sea because of the crew, etc. until Zoro spoke up.
-
There are so many emotional moments I'll probably forget more than half of them…
Sad & Tear Jerkers
- All the Flashbacks, but the following especially
– "You ate your own leg?!"
-- "I've always wanted to do this" Robin hold's Olvia's hand. Also when Saul protects Robin, telling her to be proud of her homeland, and then when she tries to laugh but breaks down into tears.
-- "Quartet... Trio... Duet... Solo... Why? Just leaving the accompaniment?"
-- All of Chopper's and Norland/Calgara's flashback.
-- Probably Thunder Soldier holding Scarlet as she is dying, crying that she doesn't even remember her and that he can't feel her warmth. It depends on if Toei screws it up or not. - Merry's burial
Overall Emotional and Memorable - Shanks giving Luffy his hat
- Luffy ringing the golden bell, and then seeing Cricket down on the blue sea realizing Norland was a honest man all along, and then it shows Luffy's giant shadow.
- Robin crying she wants to live
- Usopp vs Luffy
- Nami stabs herself, and then Luffy stops her.
- Sanji leaving baratie
- The One-punch wonder gets his title
- Luffy punching the celestial dragon. Never has there been a more satisfying punch
- The bomb was timed, a.k.a. why you don't underestimate crocodile
- "If I said I'm here to fulfill the wish of my lost crewmate… would you laugh?" (its a small one, but it struck me as memorable)
Funny
- The entire part where Kaku's new power of destruction is revealed, and the whole ordeal ending with Zoro and Usopp getting stuck together and Zoro even giving Usopp a sword name
- I'd be lying If I said I didn't find the ending to the latest chapter hilarious, with how SOP finally succeeded
There are probably more, but these are the ones I remember right now. I should probably stop anyway, this is getting really long…
- All the Flashbacks, but the following especially
-
I don't think much can hold a candle to the old man's defeat.
