@Cyan:
I wonder how the Strawhats' memories are doing gymnastics to justify why they went to Enies Lobby at all.
Uhh… let's see... they took Usopp and Franky. They got Usopp back and decided to find Franky, I guess cause Luffy wanted to punch him or something. Then Franky saw Luffy arrive and was like: Welp, better burn these blueprints. Then they all fought CP9 members for no reason until Franky got to punch Spandam in the face, super hard. Then they escaped and Franky had ball pain until he agreed to join the crew.
I honestly thought Ussop acting this way would have been over after the timeskip
You know, this whole thing feels less rage inducing for me, but it still feels just as shit even after having mentally prepared myself for it since yesterday and having had the whole day to process it.
Robin should have swiftly snap Sugar’s neck instead of holding her to wait for Mr. Useless to take action
I think we have to realise that he's forgotten Robin completely. Does this mean he forgot about what he and the others went through to get her back? If so, then he's obviously reverted somewhat, forgetting his real courage - the courage he found to fight for a friend. Enies Lobby was a real turn-around for our favourite long-nosed sniper and it's what helped him find his real strength. I think we'll see Sniper King return with a vengeance ~it's in your heart~ and to me it makes sense that he'd 'lose' some of that courage initially if he forgot most of Enies Lobby.
Makes me wonder what, exactly, people forget, though. Would Robin's memory be implanted with the vague feeling that someone was saved or perhaps every experience dealing with Robin could be erased and the mind just skips past those parts. In which case, you'd be pretty confused, right? And shit, it's not just him who has lost memory of her! Everyone has now. It'd be the most terrifying thing for Robin, who has just learned to trust and began to feel comfortable in having friends to be there for her, suddenly to have them forget her existence all together. Man, I'm kinda hating Sugar right now. Sorry, honey, but don't be hurting Robin. She's had enough of that in her life.
The only way to make it worse were if it were Brook. And now I'm just making myself depressed…
why the fuck is everyone bitching about ussop pussying out? he's BEEN a pussy even after the time skip. if anything this is oda setting up ussop's victory
why the fuck is everyone bitching about ussop pussying out? he's BEEN a pussy even after the time skip. if anything this is oda setting up ussop's victory
Hell, it didn't take even one chapter post time skip to show that Ussop was still a coward. He seemingly got scared(You could say surprised but it looked a mixture of cowardice as well) of the appearance of Sogeking(The fake strawhat version).
Expecting Ussop to have completely removed that aspect of his character after the two year skip is like expecting Nami not to go after money, Luffy being less of an idiot, and so on. He's developed, he had his moments in Punk Hazard and FI but he isn't supposed to be the brave warrior that he wants to become at the endgame this early in the second half of the story.
You guys all keep talking about Robin, but who is that? Is it the ragdoll girl in this latest chapter of one piece.
I mean, it sounds like you guys are implying she's a part of the crew, but I don't remember there ever being another girl besides nami and Vivi.
Is everyone crazy…?
Someone brought it up and I think it actually is a nice idea…
What if Sanji, our superperv, still is able to think know Robin, but the other 3 SHs say they are not knowing someone with this name... Sanji would actually know that some shit got very wrong at Dressrosa
I agree with this, heh. People's brain can forget people but the heart cannot lol.
Every arc has this one group/tribe with the purpose of hyping the antagonists. It was obvious from the start that the Dwarves would be those guys.
yeah but to be fair they spent a hell of a lot of time building this one up then they did others
let's see as far back as I can remember without getting looking back through my mangas of guys brought in to build up other opponents (but not always exclusively for that reason)
[hide]
Kuro's crew got to kick the crap out of usopp and nami until they Luffy and zoro showed up to save the day (at that time nami was pretty much a defenseless girl and usopp was being introduced as just that regular kid, not really a super powered pirate like he was going up against)
the two super chefs who got the shit kicked out of them by pearl (the only other chefs besides zeff and sanji that had names and they went down almost instantly)
Arlong's guys destroyed a marine ship in little to no time, and one guy on there was a commodore I believe (still apperaed instantly and was defeated…. granted the towns terror and utter fear of the pirates kind of made way to substitute for that, plus the whole fishmen are ten times as strong as humans)
vivi and her frineds were sacrificed to show the danger of mr. 5 and mrs. vlaantine (the only one I can really think that matches this amount of time and effort, in building them up, and zoro had already almost finished the job)
Little garden = Giants??
I mean what did crocodile get, a couple nameless nobodies to turn into sand, granted his repeated almost killings (it's a word) of Luffy kind of substituted for that (oh yeah.... pell and chaka)
jaya (poor cricket :( )
Skypeia = gan fall, randomly killing fodder enemies?
CP9 = the repeated trashing of the straw hats prior to them getting serious (and paulie and his crew)
sabody - repeated thrashings of the super novas and straw hats by just about everybody (mainly kizaru)
Impel down (is there anybody magellan didn't kick the shit out of, or scare the shit out of?)
Fishman island (neptune and his boys)
Punk Hazard (SMOKER, TASHIGI AND SANJIIIIIII!!!!!!!)
[/hide]
so I don't think any of those examples really equal the amount of time brought forth focusing on their faster than normal eyesight movement, or the fact that toy soldier pretty much said they had superhuman strength rivaling franky's, with a few impressive feats to show
and then even among these ridiculously strong and fast little guys they have commanders who I assume are a bit faster and stronger or at least better skilled at fighting and after all that build up they just…. get there ass kicked repeatedly to the point it looks like Doflamingo's guys aren't even trying
don't get me wrong I expected doflamingo's guys to put up a fight and for the dwarves to require assistance from the straw hats (just like fishmen if you train hard enough you can surpass them)... I just didn't think they'd beat them this easily, like dofla's guys aren't even trying, even against there commanders it's like BAM 2 seconds done
EDIT: I guess in the long run what I'm trying to say is, did anyone else expect a lot more after that build up???
I guess in the long run what I'm trying to say is, did anyone else expect a lot more after that build up???
Maybe a little more. Not much.
I wonder who Kanjuuro will help. Is it going to be Usopp or Franky? I prefer Usopp since the plot will move faster once toys are restored to people. He probably doesn't have his sword, but still. Maybe there's a devil fruit. He can pick a weapon up from Doula goons.
Is that relevant?
Umm, yes since by "leaving the guys to handle things" means Luffy finding Doflamingo, Franky dealing with Senor Pink, Zoro dealing with Pica, and Usopp….no comment lol.
Don't worry, I'm not a feminist and I don't mean that to start anything. What I wrote there is exactly what I mean. It just seems like Oda didn't know how to use Robin in this arc. I was at least expecting him to have Koala meet her and Usopp to help them fight Trebol, so seeing Robin get turned into a toy...was very out of the blue, especially when we thought that Usopp would be the one to get turned into a toy.
It would have been pretty funny is Usopp tried to do something back there right away and get turned into a Toy instantly, making everyone hopeless. (Do people want this to happen..? Just to not see Usopp not run away?)
I don't hate Usopp, I love him actually and this chapter didn't do any damage.
But with all the hates on him right now, I just hope Oda redeems Usopp asap.
Next week, hopefully.
Of course there will be hardships on SH crew in this arc.
And with Sugar's power it was INEVITABLE that at least one SH to turn into a Toy.
Dressrosa ain't Fishmen Island. The villains are on another level.
There are still so many wildcards lying around (Revolutionary, Colosseum participants turned Toys, CP-0 etc)
It's these kind of chapters that make the entire Arc more interesting, intense and pay-off will be awesome.
Like I said previously Usopp will probably be remembered as the biggest hero out of all SH crews (to Tontattas at the very least) when this thing is over.
For real though, Usopp go get your fuckin Mask
I still stand by my gut feel from couple of chapters before. This is build up. Toy maker is taken out by sogeking, and robin will take care of trebol. Its making for good build up, ussop remembers the goal/mission, forgets half of tontattas exists - but wait, they explained her ability (ding! 250 tontattas fought against 250 mini toys, he'll piece it together and come back with sogeking)
Have faith in Oda, and that Ussop is meant to be who he is. His growth will be evident as sogeking, and near end of manga sogeking persona will be only memories.

Usopp's memories of Robin have been removed as well as everyone else's. Thats why Franky didn't mention Robin. Usopp's regression is due to key memories, like dealing with Robin in water 7, being wiped away. If this is true then I'm not as mad
Seeing Ussop knows that Sugars ability deletes memories it should be pretty easy to tell Ussop who she is without it being far fetched. Hell, she could even say she's the new King of Elbaf or something that was turned into a toy after the Colosseum fights to boost Ussops' courage…
Also, to funkfreed, what about Luffys' development at Enies Lobby? Gears?
The SHs forgetting Robin is going to feel very eerie.
Doflaemon was cool and Gladius is dumber than expected.
Kyros and Law are racing to see who gets a flashback first since this seems like a pretty opportune time for either.
I've never hated Usopp. He's been a coward since his intro. And it's his cowardly tactics and attitude that makes him who he is.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm still wondering how Doflamingo did not notice those 3 at all an slice away the table or whatever they were hiding behind, and if he wasnt getting any information out of Law I would have finished him off by now.

Yeah, that would make sense, considering rescuing Robin caused Usopp to man up. 'course, I'm still pretty pissed off at Usopp's wimpy retreat, since I expected him to do something before running away like the pathetic wimp he is at the very least. Oh well.
Other than Pussopp, it was a great chapter.

Has there been a single person person that has said this? People are annoyed that he looks to be a bigger coward than even before since I don't remember Ussop running away even after one of his friends got defeated and crushed right in front of him, or his hands rather. It's pretty funny Ussop's defenders using the absolute silliest of hyperboles or stating that it's all so his courage at the end will have more impact as if every single person reading the manga has not figured it out yet. Where are these people that are stating that he should have bravery level or Zoro or Luffy, because I certainly do not see it yet this keeps getting repeated over and over again.
The problem is when you rely on only 1 quirk so much for 18+ years, there is change depending on the fans that these things become annoying. Sanji's love for women was funny for the first few arcs and at Fishman Island, it was one of the most cringeworthy things you see repeated over and over again. Same thing is happening with Ussop, his cowardice even worse than usual which considering Sogeking's part of the character development, Oda basically shit all over it.
Other than Luffy or Zoro, I don't know a single character that has developed at all other than their "their" arc. I would have said Ussop, but him acting like a bigger bitch than ever before basically makes a mockery of his awesome development that he had during the Water 7 arc. Him having some "badass" moment of bravery 10 chapters from now isn't going to change how he has been acting, which is even worse than before. I wouldn't want Ussop to remove his cowardice but at this point, it should be more subtle, not more apparent than pre-timeskip. I doubt many people expect the SHs to develop fully at this point in time, and why would they? But yes, showing some development surely wouldn't hurt here and there. And his moments at PH were overshadowed when he was bragging about taking out enemies that were already beaten and running away, on top of being scared of rocks falling on him when Luffy, Zoro, Law, Smoker and Sanji are standing next to him. The first example is classic Ussop, and the latter is Oda taking it too far in terms of his quirk. Oda needs to find some clever and more creative ways to mix the quirks up now (like Violet returning Sanji's love for example, that was brilliant). This doesn't bother people like you and that's perfectly fine, but don't close your eyes and ask questions in hyperboles on why people may not like something that's blatantly obvious to anyone that bothers to look.
Zoro is Pica's worst nightmare. Pica's job is to make everyone get lost in his halls and corridors then crush them…. but that's Zoro's secret.
He's always lost.

usopp regression has been in action since punk hazard,so it's not that
Other than Luffy or Zoro, I don't know a single character that has developed at all other than their "their" arc
To be fair, I think Nami and Chopper have grown up a lot throughout the series.
Well like most people have said here, Usopp had a huge character development and courage during Water 7/Enies lobby. Usopp or Sogeking came into existence because of Robin. So now that Usopp suddenly forgot about Robin his memories of those events got fuck'd up.
Note: I'm not saying Usopp lost memories of those events but the memories of those events came crashing down in his head because "Robin memory lost" made a huge hole inbetween it, so Usopp's memory probably back tracked to his memory of himself in beginning of the Grandline.
Give Usopp some time, his memories of courageousness will soon start flowing back.
Zoro is Pica's worst nightmare. Pica's job is to make everyone get lost in his halls and corridors then crush them…. but that's Zoro's secret.
He's always lost.
Exactly, 2 negatives makes a plus. Pica will add those 2 together all to late
usopp regression has been in action since punk hazard,so it's not that
oda will makes us love him again, i guarantee it.
oda will makes us love him again, i guarantee it.
Would you still love Nami if she joined Doflamingo's crew after he beat Luffy? Or if Chopper got upset if someone called him a monster? Usopp should be past this point by now. He hasn't run away in like a decade.
Usopp was at his best when he shot Arlong with bricked pants! End of story!
I know it isn't going to happen, seeing how nearly all the Straw hats, present on Dressora are matched up, at this point, it seems, but I hope all the Straw hats experience defeat before taking down their enemies. Let get my point more clear. I don't feel the exposition, all of the flashbacks, character reveals, and what not has been voluminous enough to rush to the final battles, the climax, of the arc. Please don't hate me for this, but I want Zoro to be incapacitated by Pika, Luffy to lose to Dofla, and Franky succumbing to Bastille, Senor Pink, and Machvise. The arc needs some breathing room to get its crap together, and I believe starting the final battles at this point to be a poor idea on Oda's part. EDIT: Why Is this Chapter titled 'Please' exactly? I'm lost.
Usopp is a balancer. He is the most "human" of the strawhats. He has no special talent other than a good shot,

Yeah, that made a lot of sense. If you analyze the situation from that point of view, it really makes sense that Usopp is reacting the way he does. Great theory.
Zoro is Pica's worst nightmare. Pica's job is to make everyone get lost in his halls and corridors then crush them…. but that's Zoro's secret.

Ahaha, your completely right.
Why Is this Chapter titled 'Please' exactly? I'm lost.
Because the first poster takes it from mangapanda translation.

Well nothing is stopping Oda from pulling "His heart burns hotter than fire, that's why he can't be burnt" crap here.
Everyone forgot about Robin except Sanji, he remembers Robin a beautiful lady in the crew but doesn't remember much details about her.
SBS
R: In volume so so and so when Robin was turned into a toy, everyone forgot about her except Sanji and why is that??
O: Sanji is a real gentleman, he doesn't think or remember a lady with his head but with his heart. Since Sugar ability affects people's memory in the head this didn't affect Sanji, the memory of ladies are engraved in his heart.
To be fair, I think Nami and Chopper have grown up a lot throughout the series.
Other than their arcs, how exactly have they grown?

Am I the only one who thinks this would be awesome?
to all those saying Usopp has regressed since the time skip, no, he just hasn't progressed a the rate or strength level all of you seem to think he should be.
Other than their arcs, how exactly have they grown?
Nami actually committing to the crew in Skypiea. And becoming less self-centered (fighting for Vivi for no personal gain, giving Lola some treasure, offering to buy back Camie, helping the children of Punk Hazard). I can't imagine Whiskey Peak Nami doing any of these things.
And Chopper becoming more content with being a monster. He still hasn't come to terms with it in the end of Drum. And in Enies Lobby and over the timeskip, he becomes one to help his crew. He tells Zoro on Fishman Island that he doesn't care what he looks like anymore.
Usopp is a balancer. He is the most "human" of the strawhats. He has no special talent other than a good shot,
This is what I always think. He is a SH crew member who's closest to One Piece readers. We're not that special in our physical strength, we watch in awe/fear at the villains and we worry about the characters.
Usopp is all that and when he pulls through all that and achieves his goal to help his friends that's one of the best things about One Piece itself.
Other than their arcs, how exactly have they grown?
Nami, I kind of agree with you, but Chopper certainly has had subtle character development. When Chopper first joined the Straw hats in Drum, he was almost consistently in his human form in public locations. As Chopper spent more time with Straw hats, he began using his human form less often in public eyes; The point of the fact is: Chopper became less concerned with being accepted by other and more concerned with being a monster man, as Chopper puts it, for Luffy's crew. So Chopper, whether you believe it or not, has had character development.
why the fuck is everyone bitching about ussop pussying out? he's BEEN a pussy even after the time skip. if anything this is oda setting up ussop's victory
We all know Oda's setting this up for Ussop and he is still a coward, but seeing him react like this EVEN AFTER the dwarves get defeated? Not hating but it's still annoying.
Luffy can it be???? Have you matured?? Listening to what someone says for a plan instead of just doing what you feel like?
Is it safe to say that Robin's power up this arc is her inclusion in the face fault making?
Franky told them to bend over, does that mean he plans on taking his man thong off?
I wasn't one of them, still can't believe she would be so stupid to try that, she should've know that if she was turned into a toy, Usopp would probably run.
Bullshit. You're saying this in retrospect. Robin or any other SH will not ever think of that about Usopp. Ever.
Nami, I kind of agree with you, but Chopper certainly has had subtle character development. When Chopper first joined the Straw hats in Drum, he was almost consistently in his human form in public locations. You guys do know Robin and Chopper hasn't had their crew "number" chapter titles yet right? [[URL="http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Chapters_and_Volumes"]link] First(Zoro), Fourth(Sanji), Second(Nami), Third and Seventh(Usopp and Franky), Eight(Brook) are there but not Fifth(Chopper) and Sixth(Robin). Think of that as you will~
Usopp is just faking-out, it can't be more obvious than that. You're telling me you can't notice that after 700 chapters?
Right and the entire speech he is doing is to fool the dock workers nearby who might be listening
lol right…

I have some kind of feeling that Robin might actually get her chapter title quite soon in this arc. After being a toy for a few chapters and then realizing that despite Sugar's hax ability the bonds of friendship still aren't broken and not everyone has completely forgotten her.
