@Darth:
Calling you out on this one. Akainu did not kill a single marine while going after Ace and Luffy. He only killed pirates.
He explicitly kills one of his own while they're trying to run from the battle in 556, while Coby watches. (And then later isn't about to be stopped from killing Coby at all.) Its been a few years since I read the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure his attacks get a lot of random side casualties in them. You'll see an attack and it'll have a bunch of bodies flying from it. Oda never dwelled on the fact a ton of people were being killed by the effects, but its there.
I recall a scene of him hitting a bunch of his own while trying to attack others, but its been a while, I might just be remembering the scene with the one guy, the scene with Coby, and the random hititng of a bunch of people and merging them together.
Also mixing in my head the fact that he's willing to kill boatloads of civilians in order to get even one potential escaped scholar.
The man doesn't value human lives, it's pretty clear.
… Not sure what you mean by that.
The marines said "We kill Ace at exactly three oclock. We could have killed him the minute he was taken hostage, but we have set a specific timetable. Pirates can try as hard as they want to save him until then, but they won't succeed. This shows how powerful we are." It was the entire POINT of the war, and in fact everyone was shocked when they recieved word that the execution was going to be moved up.
No, he did not. He did not get involved into combat till after Whitebeard died.
Almost cost him an Admiral, too.
He's the COMMANDER. He had to stay in a situation where he could see the battlefield and COMMAND. AND serve as backup last minute protection. He was involved in the fighting once Luffy reached theplatform. He might not have done much, but he was transformed and doing things at that point… he just wasn't rushing ahead to try and grab one specific guy like the admirals were... until BB started threatening the whole place anyway.
Once the third party showed up, he got involved.
He was distracted by Luffy, not hesitant. Those are two different things.
Fire at the giant monster that's impossible to miss. Should take a fraction of a second. Instead he goes "all right all right, I guess I'll do it. Just take a shot to the head I suppose", starts charging it up and talking about it… long enough to be distracted. He may be willing to do it, but its not a move he instinctually goes for. He had to very specifically consider it as the option that was needed, then took a couple moments to do it, compared to an instant shot he does for anything else. And then, after Luffy is gone, Kizaru doesn't get back to it, its the navy enmasse taking cannon shots that gets Oars.
Eh? Where did he objected to the entire thing afterwards? You are making stuff up.
He didn't object to Whitebeard, but he DID hesitate specifically over attacking Luffy. "I owe your grandfather a lot, I don't want to do this, but…" and in every appearance before AND after that went the non-death route on anyone he was up against. After the war, he went "Yes, this new status quo we've created and the way the guys up top are deciding to react to it... not a fan. I should be in charge giving orders. No? Well I'll fight Akainu for week over it then, and then leave the marines."
He was NOT a fan of how the war and its ramifications went down. He did his job, but was not pleased with a lot of aspects of it.
… And your argument for holding back when they could totaly do it and end the war right then is?
Also, there is no proof that Logia abilieties cause tireness in any way, shape or form. As well as the fact that Admirals evidently have enough stamina to fight for days, and the didn't even last half of that. Also, I will point you towards Enel spamming massive attacks with no exhaustion whatsoever.
Enel was also in an area extremely conducive to creating his attacks. In the sky, with an airship designed to conduct electricity. Same way Croc was in a dessert. He didn't generate all the sand he used, he used what was around him and available, in addition to what he created.
We never see a logia go logia form and just spam attacks nonstop indefinitely. There's gotta be a reason for it. They always go element mode, then switch back to normal, rather than stay in element mode. There's some limits.
