I didn't realize how weak everyone thinks Blackbeard and Ace were Pre TS.
Ace was offered to be a Warlord when he was essentially a rookie, they feared him before even becoming a member of the WhiteBeard pirates, before he sailed around with White Beard in the New World he was already having 5 day long battles with Jimbei whom we know is a beast, and had King's Haki, on top of that add in his bloodline and you've got the mix for one incredibly strong guy. The logic of Him not showing Haki is senseless because we saw him fight about twice total and neither time did it need to be displayed.Getting magma punched doesn't mean he doesn't have CoC because Whitebeard whom we know did got poked through as well.
Ace has been proven to have COC haki, if you talking about COA and COO then nope he was never shown to have it.
Blackbeard sailed under WhiteBeard for decades, AKA longer than Ace was alive. Ace doesn't say the only reason Blackbeard was offered the promotion was his age, all he comments is that Blackbeard is the most senior member and Teach states that he has no desire to take the position. He likely was the pseudo leader of the group until Ace took over anyway (Admitted Speculation). He took Ace down in less than a day (seemingly) who once he knew BlackBeards power was most likely on his toes for the rest of the fight.
Being a pirate for decades doesn't mean shit, Luffy took down 2 Shichibukai who have been pirates for decades and one used to rival the yonko Kaido. BB took down Ace because of his yami yami fruit, whether BB was capable of taking down Ace before he ate the yami yami fruit is unknown.
Seriously these comparisons you guys are making are plain ridiculous. Blackbeard was Luffy level pre time skip? That's a horrible conclusion especially when everyone seems to think Luffy can't even take down one of his subordinates Post Time Skip after his power has grown exponentially. That would put Luffy at Ace level pre time skip as well…. So the same people who think that Luffy can't take down Jesus thinks he's strong enough to have been WhiteBeards Second division commander? That's just a mess guys.
Pretimeskip BB and pretimeskip Luffy clashed and Oda drew/wrote that scene as two equal people landing an equal attack/damage to each other and was ready to continue the fight. No one is talking about post Timeskip Luffy vs ptimeskip BB, and whoever thinks Burgess is stronger than Luffy is plainly living in another world. If a mere subordinate of BB(top subordinates I will understand)is stronger than Luffy then Luffy would never stand a chance against BB never. Or I will see an ass pull Oda will make for Luffy to defeat BB.
So according to your post you believe physical Ace will be better than Luffy? Luffy has been a physical fighter almost all his life, he has received more physical damage than most and your using Ace to compare him to BB? Ace is Ace and Luffy is Luffy.
And when was it stated being 2nd division commander means your stronger or above other division commanders? Oda stated all Division commanders are equal in ranking. And Vista 5th division commander can keep up with the strongest swordsman does that make Ace better than Mihawk? Since according to you 2nd commander–> other commanders.
Oda for various reasons never truly showcased Ace, likely because the place he finally started hyping the end game level players was during that time Ace was handcuffed preparing to die. Blackbeard also hasn't been shown in a single full match against anyone (Getting wrecked by an unknown power doesn't make him weak), and has shown ridiculous endurance. Yes both characters have been poorly show cased in the series thus far, but that doesn't make them weak. Shanks and WhiteBeard both knew of Teach's power and warned people not to underestimate him. I suggest you guys take the Yonkou's advice.

If BB is that much better or stronger than Luffy as you think, then why would Oda not make BB block Luffy's attack? And when the whole fight of Ace vs BB started Ace was never shown able to make BB bleed but one attack from Luffy and BB started bleeding, all this stuff are little things Oda put in to show the difference between a logia fighter and a physical fighter but people tend to ignore it.
Shanks and Whitebeard didn't know shit about Luffy.
If not for BB Ace wouldn't have left New world even though he knew Luffy was in Grandline and they haven't seen/talked for 3years+, so why should Sabo contact Luffy if Ace wouldn't have done it himself? It seems like both was waiting for Luffy to come to new world.l
