It turns out the female Aegislash I'd been using had an adamant nature and perfect sp def IVs. Caught a dwebble in friend safari (which apparently always yields two perfect IVs) that had perfect hp and def IVs. Bred them and got a honedge that had perfect Sp Def and HP IVs as well as an adamant nature on my first try(I gave the mother an everstone for nature and the dwebble a power weight to keep hp ivs perfect). The iv judge said it had outstanding overall IVs, which is the highest he'll give and means total ivs are between 150 to perfect. So I'm pretty happy with that
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And the froakie I was traded right by the npc at postgame has a perfect speed IV. This'll help in my all kalos team, and possibly even my main team for battles
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Anybody here have a timid ditto they'd be willing to trade?

I don't recall ever being called out to in Pearl when there was an egg waiting for me;
In b&w the man doesn't call me out either.
In DP and BW he would turn directions. (So you could talk to him on the side, and then when he faced camera again you know there was an egg.) in BW2 he actually yells at you when you pass his eyeline.
Can't figure out any signs on this one.
-
I hate not knowing how to do side quest stuff. I want to go to the Lumiose boutique and meet the boss in the lost hotel!!!!
-
Just got me a Protean Froakie :) I'll probably use him on my next playthrough after Poke Bank comes out. Don't really like to competitive battle.
-
Starting up now after spending some time messing around with AR stuff (though I can't figure out how to get the characters, Samus especially, to show up!). Skiddo showing up after Sycamore tosses the pokeball made me think "Wagomu"…
-
As a reminder, I'll be setting up an ap tournament that'll probably start in around a month. I'm planning to put the thread up over the weekend sometime, although maybe I should do it sooner

Got my male Froakie and nicknamed him Rock Lee (thinking about it now, though, I should've gone with Jiraiya). I don't really keep up with natures and abilities, but mine has Bold nature and Torrent as its ability. Shauna's Fennekin when down, naturally, and Lee went up to level 6. I like how the mom automatically assumes Sycamore's letter is a love letter. Off to explore I go…
-
Well just encountered a Shiny Golett.
Better catch it. Good thing I always carry around a guy who knows False Swipe.
edit: f*ing A, Golett is imune to normal attacks so false swipe is worthless
edit 2: Caught him. Didn't damage him 1 bit. Just tried an ultra ball when I saw someone sent me a Capture lvl 2 o-power. And Ultra ball worked.
edit 3: not the best stats
Ability - Klutz
Nature - Quirky -
At this point I rarely damage any wild pokemon. I just throw ultra balls until it works. Only exception is legendaries with super low catch rates
-
perhaps Noticing I Had aerial Ace TM Would Have made Him More useful.
Also best O-Power timing Ever. Hinscher Gave Me HP Restore So That I Had The The Message As Nurse Joy Was healing My Team.

So, today I will officially join the fray (thanks to belated birthday gifts). My Friend Code is in my sig, so feel free to add me to the list on the first page and I'll start adding people after I play for a bit.
I'll be playing Y, by the way…
Added you, again if people want to add me, my FC is in my sig.
-
Added code to my sig; I'll be able to play more next week hopefully if I have time
Still only have 1 badge after 4 days :P
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
This music in this palace makes this game feel even more like Dragon Quest
-
Apparently there are Tyrogue (and by extension, Hitmonlee) in the game, so if anyone here would be so kind as to trade me a Tyrogue egg, I'd be very appreciative. I'm playing Y, so name your price (though I haven't even gotten to the first town with a Pokemon center yet). Still, I want to have it as soon as I can so it can be part of my team from the start…
Went ahead and added some FCs from the first page. I'll add more once my team starts to take shape and I have some boxed Pokemon to trade.

@RobbyBevard:
Females have a high chance (guaranteed?) of passing the hidden ability, and new to this gen, males have some chance of passing it.
What IS the ability, anyway?
The ability is "Gooey" Contact with the Pokemon lowers the attackers Speed State.

Your goat is blessed. You must raise it to be the conqueror of worlds.
Skidoo is the dad not the mom so it was an Espurr that i got.:ninja:
And congratulations of being the champion with only goats.
Just curious how it went the battle against the fire elite four. -

Thanks.Yeah, every route has one that rarely appears. However once one does you'll get about 3 in a row.

Still not out of the forest at the beginning, since I got caught up training my team a bit and catching all of the Pokemon I encountered. I'm going to have a tough time playing through this game, since I skipped Gen 5, so there's going to be a bunch of creatures I'll want to try from it. I'll probably save them for the post-game stuff, though…
My team:
Rock Lee the Froakie (level 12)
Pontiac the Fletchling (level 12)
Silky the Scatterbug (level 8) -
For me, I could only find Spritzee in the grass right before the cave. I'm not sure if Slurpuff is the same, or if that's even legit and not just my luck x) it did take kind of a while though.

I'm not really sure what to do with my Inkay. I got it with Adamant nature and Contrary, since Malamar's base attack is a lot higher than its special attack, but it looks like a pokemon that's really reliant on its moveset. What sort of battle role can it fill? Is letting it keep Topsy Turvy in any way worth it?
Basically, what moveset and role are people using Malamar for?Same goes with Skiddo, too. I'll probably use it as an all-rounder of sorts, but I'm not entirely sure.
-
Yup, named after Starfire's pet. :D
Still not sure whether or not I'm keeping it on my team, though, since it hasn't been performing well compared to Froakie and Fletchling. I'll give it until its middle evolution to see whether or not it remains on my team, I guess.
I feel like I suckered that guy for his Farfetch'd, since I gave him a level 2 Bunnelby that I caught solely because he asked for it (not to mention his Farfetch'd was at level 10). Well, he seemed happy, so that's all that matters, I guess. Just got my skates, so now it's time to see if Lee, Pontiac and Silky can take on the first Gym…

You probably won't keep him, but I just loved the nickname because he does look like Silkie. You think you feel bad about the Farfetch'd trade? Wait till you see what the guy wants in Cyllage City for his Steelix.
You might be changing your team often at first because every route literally has about 6-10 different pokemon in them. There are no real repeat pokemon in the routes. (meaning you won't find Pidgey and its evolutions in 10 routes).
-
Man, I should have used a potion on Pontiac while I was facing Viola! Because of that, her Vivillon was able to get in the finishing blow and prevent it from sweeping the entire gym. Sorry, Pontiac, but Lee was able to step in and handle what little was left, so now I have the Bug Badge. Now it's off to see what the new routes have to offer in the way of pokemon…
-
Well I beat the Champion! I won't say any spoilers about the ending but it's absolutely wonderful. I finished with a team of Greninja (Frog Lee), Talonflame (Fire Bird), Pangoro (Oda), Florges (Fairy), Aegislash (Link) and Goodra (Beth) and I loved using every single one of them plus a few other pokemon along the way. I feel like pokemon wise Game Freak has gone for quality over quantity and I think that's been my favourite thing about this generation although there's only been a fairly small amount of new pokemon introduced (and if you count fairy retcons and mega-evolutions, the number of 'new' pokemon is actually over 100).
It's a pretty easy game but then again pokemon games have never been exactly hard, the only let down for me would be the lack of quality in the opposing trainers.
! Lysandre and the Elite Four were a particular disappointment. Lysandre because you basically faced the same team three times in less than an hour and the Elite Four because four pokemon per team just isnt that challenging (I beat the fire master with four surfs from my Frog Lee)
Overall the look and feel of the game are superb. The new battle animations give each pokemon a little extra personality and really help to make them feel more unique. I'll be the first to admit that I was not a fan of Greninja's design when I first saw it but seeing him in battle doing all his ninja moves has made me a huge fan and the same goes for Delphox.
I don't have access to wi-fi at the moment but I hope to be able to compete in the upcoming AP tournament so when I get my internet up and running hopefully I can trade and battle with all of you

Just figured out the sign:
The guy outside will be facing towards the Pokemon Pen if he doesn't have an egg to give.
If he does have an egg then he'll face towards the path.
-
For me, I could only find Spritzee in the grass right before the cave. I'm not sure if Slurpuff is the same, or if that's even legit and not just my luck x) it did take kind of a while though.
Spritzee is Y and Slurpuff is X exclusive.
-
Favourite things so far: Amie, Super training, berry farming, exp share,
little Tyrunt (actually my main team of Greninja, Kirlia, Scraggy, Charmeleon and Vivilion)
Combusken gets an honourable mention but using it feels like cheating at times, cos he's just too good.
Gonna start training Axew and Bagon though, what can I say? Still love those dragons.
Battle Maison is also really great if you need some spare cash, and taking down snooty rich snobs.I really dislike the new dowsing system though, I understand why they want to make it look like actual dowsing, but the old radar system was soooo much more superior.
-
I decided to treat myself to the camouflage beanie and the green feather as a reward for taking down Viola. Then I caught myself a yellow female Flabebe (nicknamed Flor) and had all of the rest of my team evolve into Frogadier (awesome), Fletchinder (who looks very cool) and Vivillon (Texas gets the Modern Pattern, for those of you out there documenting that).
I also made a nice, if a bit unfair, trade with a Japanese guy named Shuu, who traded me his Onix for the Farfetch'd that I traded that NPC in town my Bunnelby for. I didn't think he'd go for it, but it happened. I wanted to tell him "Dude, I only just started playing like 10 hours ago, sorry for the crappy selection", but there's no chat function for acquaintances. Not to mention the language barrier, probably.
I love how seamless the trading was, by the way. It sucks that you can't specifically point out which of the offered Pokemon you want, but other than that, it's pretty awesome. I completely missed out on any online battling/trading during Pearl, since my DS Lite wouldn't connect to the internet, so it's nice to experience that. I'm sure it'll be even more fun once I get to trade and/or battle some of you fine folks.
Now I'm outside of that first town, checking what pokemon are hiding in the grass and trying to find a male Litleo for my team…
-
Nice, got Dragonair, Luxio, Shuppet and Galvantula from my Friend Safari.
Also, is there any way/chance you can see what type/Pokemon your Safari has?Post Game Spoilers/Questions
! That'd little detective subplot with Looker was cool. So what are the odds of Emma showing up in "Pokemon Z'" (maybe even as a Gym Leader/Champ)?
! Just got allowed access to that fancy restaurant…. 500 000 bucks for a/some battle(s)? Does anybody know if you get something worthwhile outta this?

Happened to me too sometimes, both ways.
If I got a Pokemon I don't need (e.g. caught it's evolution) or have caught multiple ones, have fun with it. No need to give me anything special in return.
@Deviant_Mugen:My Friend Code is in my sig, so feel free to add me to the list on the first page and I'll start adding people after I play for a bit.

Skidoo is the dad not the mom so it was an Espurr that i got.:ninja:
And congratulations of being the champion with only goats.
Just curious how it went the battle against the fire elite four. The elite 4 was a breeze, actually, since I was at minimum level 72 when I fought them. The fire guy put up a decent fight, since fire blast could nearly one shot one of my goats, but earthquake and surf destroyed him. I didn't have a lot of anti-steel to work with, so the steel guy was the second most challenging, but still pretty easy. I mostly destroyed him using earthquake alone. The dragon lady was actually a breeze, since the secondary typings on her creatures made things easy. Flying/dragon was getting one shotted with just my ice hidden power. The water guy is not worth mentioning since my goats are 100%thegoodshit grass.
For the champion, I decided to finally let my top goat (who again, got ahead because Robby traded him to me before I could find the other Gogoats and because of amie) go wild. He was at level 88 at the beginning of the match and completely crushed her. OHKOed most of her beasties and was on the verge of hitting level 90 by the end of the match.
In short, elite 4 chumped by overleveled goats.
-
That sounds like one hell of a Poke-tale, Wagomu. And you totally have the Hall of Fame picture to prove it! Well played. Also, I sent you an add yesterday.
Finally found a male Litleo for my team, after knocking out like 10 females; I named him Scar. I'm loving the selection of creatures so far, and I'll be keeping as many as I can in boxes to use later (including the Mystery Gift Torchic), after I experience the Gen 6 ones…
So, I mentioned this on the last page, but does anyone have a Tyrogue egg they'd be willing to part with? Ask me for something and I'll see about getting it.@InglingX: I added you back. Also, you are my new favorite person on here for trading me that Tyrogue egg. Rock on, man. Time to get this bad boy to level 20 with Attack higher than Defense and get me a Hitmonlee!
-
Finally got the wireless connection working. My friend code is 3711-8118-1155.
Can anyone trade me a Haunter? I'd love to have a Gengar on my team.
-
Just caught Yveltal. My average level is 50. Two badges to go
-
Man, I'm going to spoil this Tyrogue rotten, I swear; I'm very anxious to see what Hitmonlee's like on Pokemon-Amie. I love how Tyrogue's completely stoic while you pet him, but jumps for joy after you're through. Hitmonlee will be the sole non-brand new exception on my team, though, the rest will all be Gen 6 creatures that I'll try out until I settle on a concrete team.
I'm a bit worried that Tyrogue's Defense is one point higher than his Attack, but hopefully some Super Training will fix that before he starts getting close to level 20…

I added Emolga to my team because my poor Vivillon just wasn't pulling it's weight. But does my team now seem a little lopsided?
1. Taliesin - Braxien
2. Mizumachi - Wartortle
3. Sídhe - Sylveon
4. Jeanne d'Arc - Honedge
5. Korra - Amaura
6. Lightn' Dust - Emolga -
Welp, I've beaten the champion, so I might as well add my friend code here:

My team was Greninja, Heliolisk, Gogoat, Talonflame, Aigislash, and Aurorus. Holy Moly the variety in this game was amazing. So many things that I wanted to use. Now that I've gotten through the story, it's time to fill up that pokedex.
-
Holy crap, parabola charge is a GROUP hitting move? On top of being a decently powered heal? Helipotile, I think you're my new front man.

Fire/psychic, water, fairie, steel/ghost, rock/ice, fly/elec. Well, there's no overlap on your team, though you do have two monotypes. No glaring needs missing that I can see or unbalances. Still don't know the new things well enough to tell if your missing a tank or a sweeper or whatnot. (though the sword is both…)

So, i'm looking for a scatterbug from Holland and i try to trade with this passerby but i can´t really send them a message telling them i need a Scatterbug precisely from their country so i have to come with a plan. I keep showing the trainer my Vivillons and then a scatterbug. We made a few trades and between them i keep repeating the Vivillon show. She disconnects without getting the message so i opt for giving the shoutout "Need Scatterbug" with my last shred of hope. I keep playing the game for like 15 minutes and then the same trainer wants to trade with me again! when the trade screen comes up i see that he (or she) went all the way to the forest to catch one fresh scatterbug for me. I bathe him with "Nice" and O-Powers.
Then he requests to see my PR Video. I see that he has a Need Eevee in his profile. Damn, i had just traded my last Eevee. I enter real quick to GTS to nab one but the only offer that i can fulfill asks for my only ditto (I still can't them in the game). I give it away. If he went through for me damn right i'm gonna do it for him! Minutes later, he had a brand new eevee in his game.
I don't know, it was funny and i had to share it.

Same reason they don't let any bug pokemon fly. "It's too small to carry you". (Nevermind Scyther is the size of a pony and they let you fly on a tiny Pidgey.) Gligar can't fly either.
It's pretty much my single largest peeve of the entire previous generation that one of my favorites is so handicapped as an all purpose monster.
