Only seen the livestream so far, so not sure what was being said, but the fanservice is becoming more hilarious than expected. Even better now that the teacher gets some. Also poor Mako, those bloody shots came outta nowhere and it hit my funny bone. Liked the ED.

The professor little show was hilarious.
Other than that only the music was remarkable on this episode. Fanservice is good in small measures, I hope the series wont be based solely on that.
That being said the episode was fun but not GIGADRIRUBREIKAH enough.
-
Did anyone else think of Akio from Utena when Mikisugi (the professor) took off his shirt for no reason? It was hilarious.
-
I don't mind fanservice much in this show. I have few reasons why it is o.k. by me.
1. The main character still looks badass and in control even, when she is half naked.
2. It is played in such a way that it's actually funny.
3. It is ridiculous to such extent that it helps underlining ridiculousness of situations, when it takes place, ridiculousness of the setting and the fact, that feeds on absurd.
4. It actually helps to establish the character as somebody, who would pursue her objective no matter the situation. Being half naked and obviously not comfortable with the situation won't stop her. It's weird to see fanservice used in character building but it's also… fresh.
5. there is fabservice for women (or gay men) equally ridiculously over-the-top as the one for men.
6. Time and space isn't waisted on fanservice scenes, they pull the plot forward... in a weird way. -
It's also worth mentioning that without the star suits, the opponents can't fight, so both the boxer and the tennis player lost their clothes for a reason.
-
I watched both episodes yesterday,I have to say this show is so over the top,I love it~
Anything made by Gainax,be they former or not,is always welcome. -
This was good, not amazing as the first episode; I guess the fact it's the episode that aired with the opening and ending can justify it. Next episode, though, is looking to be a riot.
-
Just got to watch both new eps, and this show is just FUN. I didn't really know what I was expecting going into it, but I find myself laughing at little things that I normally wouldn't find interesting from other series. The animation and energy level keep me entertained and I'm waiting for more.
-
Mako is amazing. AMAZING.
-
This is about everything I've ever wanted from an anime ever. I'm surprised it's the same director as Panty & Stocking too, considering I didn't enjoy that show very much.
-
First anime I watch for a long while, and I'm loving every minute of it. Fantastic
-
Was there a prescreening for KLK 3? Because my friend pasted a bunch of translated responses that he says was retweeted by "official" people and is "confirmed," but won't give me a source besides saying it's from 2/4chan. :/
From the paste:
! Japanese impressions for KLK 3, no spoilers:
! >This episode made me decide that I'm going to buy all the BDs.
Ryuuko, Satsuki and Mako are all Goddesses.
Kill la Kill 3 was the fucking best.
I was a bit worried because the atmosphere in episodes 1 and 2 was a bit too comedic, but episode 3 was just awesome!
They told us to please not give out spoilers but I can say this: it was fucking awesome! The coolest from beginning to ened! And episode 4 looks great, too!
Super-cool! Ami Koshimizu's perfrmance was the best!
I now love Ryuuko and Satuski-sama and Mako more than it's healthy.
You mean this isn't the final episode?!
It was like episode 15 of Gurren-Lagann… except it was 3.And I was told that TTGL 15 was the finale to Lordgenome's arc. This must be some incredibly amazing episode, then.
-
This show has such a nice classic Go Nagai vibe to it, from the enthusiastic best-friend like in Cutie Honey, weird characters like Mako's Dad, and the oppressive school system of Kekko Kamen. I can't wait to see where it goes!

You're forgetting Gakuen Taikutsu Otoko, which has a somewhat similar premise.
But yes, Go Nagai, Ken Ishikawa, Kazuhiko Shimamoto and Osamu Dezaki (not Tezuka) seem to be Imaishi's biggest influences here.
-
Why does everyone ignore Project A-Ko when talking about the possible influences?
-
Oh god today's episode, all that fanservice and hot bloodedness is getting exponentially greater, hard to see how they'll keep outdoing each episode. Next episode also looks nuts. This series is gonna give me heart palpitations soon.
Mako is really growing on me.
-
I hope they won't just keep to the monster-of-the-week format for too long.
But that action escalated quickly, didn't it?
Also, seems like as she defeats opponents, Ryuuko's outfit does become less skimpier, her skirt got more details to it. So, that's cool, I guess.

Holy freaking crap.
Very high energy episode! -
Seems purity is a theme in the series, huh. The fact that they're practically naked, using their blood and humiliated is constantly pointed out, so it's obviously gonna lead into something. I don't think I could follow this kind of formula for too long, though I feel like it'd get boring. Then again the first third of TTGL was sort of this more lighthearted sort of episodic adventure as well. Then episode 8 happened and it got quite a bit more serious. Just gonna see this for how ridiculous the finale will be.
-
good episode
I liked it if only for some more satsuki focus -
That was epic stuff, just the kind I was expecting from Trigger.
The fanservice has been taken entirely to another level. There are other skimpy armored girls shows where the fanservice is the main thing but I have never seen one where the action fuses so well with the eye candy. It doesnt interfere with the battles but actually goes well with it.
Though I dont know if they'll be able to top this episode in the next ones, the rest of the students are clearly not much of a match unless they play dirty.
-
Episode 3 gave me the feelings I got when watching Gurren Lagann for the first time.
All these years, I thought I would never get these feelings from watching anime anymore.

I can't help but feel the mold is going to break more than it already has.
For some odd reason, I get the feeling she's going to blow through a lot of the student council pretty fast.
-
This episode was amazing, it feels like a finale but it's just a tease of how it'll be. Of course, Satsuki won't be probably the main antagonist because she doesn't seems to be the girl that killed Ryuko's father, but still.
-
Wow. That was Simon vs. Lord Genome levels of awesome.
I agree with you guys, fighting this school isn't going to last too long.
-
anyone else getting the feeling the teacher will end up being evil and is just using Ryuko?
-
I wonder if Mako's gonna get a suit like that later on.

This exactly.

One of the most interesting parts of the episode aside from the jaw-dropping awesomeness was Satsuki's monologue about exposing herself (AKA fanservice). She (and with her the studio Trigger) argues that the scantily clad outfits, sexy poses and whatnot don't matter at all since her intentions are pure.
Honestly I expect one of the driving forces behind the show to be "Get Naked!" It will probably come out that the uniforms are evil, and that clothing is what holds people down. It seems like the Kamui's are different since by putting them on you actually end up exposing more of your body and your latent talent. Another clue to this seems to be that the teacher is a bit of an exhibitionist.
-
Fantastic episode,loved every minute!
Glad we got some details out of this episode as well, like Sengetsu sucking up the red threads. Can't wait for more. -
anyone else getting the feeling the teacher will end up being evil and is just using Ryuko?
That wouldn't surprise me since there WAS a brief comment about the teachers not having any control over the school back in ep.1 so it COULD lead to the teachers becoming the big bads at the end of the serie BUT…that sounds too simple/predictable for something so wacky like this.
-

It would be a neat theme if it wasn't completely clashing with how all the male students are constantly ogling and getting boners over them and Ryuko getting harassed by her friend's dad and everyone else, rendering it kind of a muddled idea that isn't really properly being portrayed in the gaze it would need to in order for a character like Ryuko to actually feel empowered.
"Love your body and don't be ashamed– also everyone is gonna objectify you."
Other than that being kind of goony, it's still a great show and I'm loving it. But yeah. The theme in this episode was kind of a letdown because positive body image in sexy aesthetics is a great idea but it's being presented in a way completely counterintuitive to what it sounds like it's trying to say.
-
That aspect barely bothers as me as much seeing as Ryuuko can clearly stand her own ground. That, and during Satsuki's speech…. she just does not even care about what masses thinks. I don't know why but the the idea still feels very powerful to me. If the wacky implied stereotypical perversion didn't exist, that would just be sugar coating.
-
that reminds me i was watching this ep with someone and we were joking about how Satsuki's uniform should just be straight up assless to counter Ryuko's wacky undertits for erotic yin-yang.
and everything just sort of exploded when it came true
Also Mako is probably the best genki girl in centuries. I basically feel like instead of the fights, I should be looking forward to her entrances every episode.
-

"Love your body and don't be ashamed– also everyone is gonna objectify you."
Isn't that the point though? I wouldn't agree that the message is muddled. People are going to objectify you regardless. I think what the show is trying to say "Fuck them, who gives a shit what they think, love yourself regardless, bare it all without a hint of shame." Which I really freaking love because I really get behind sex positivism.
-
anyone else getting the feeling the teacher will end up being evil and is just using Ryuko?
Everything he does is either sinister or hilarious, so yeah, I could see that happening.
-
Then that would bring up the possibility of Ryuuko's dad being evil too….
Which won't surprise me. His silhouette looks pretty damned evil-looking(like a goofy Dr.Wily or something) and I kinda question if he's her dad even. -

Perfect episode by the way, even better than the first. I like how the next episode preview tells kids to give their all in school, nice touch. And it also looks like we'll finally see more of IRA GAMAGOORIIIIII, the man, the myth and the legend himself.

Yeah I agree. Unless something else changes about the way bare bodies are presented and received in the show I think that this message is somewhat weak.

In reply to question on what to expect in the upcoming story development, Nakajima replied the following:
All this tension building in episode 3, then you'll see 4 and go "you did WHAT!?", episode 5 is enjoyable for a completely different reason, and at six you'll go "What, already?" and in 7, "WHAAAAAT!?", and from episode 8 completely new development. That's all I can say for now.So yeah. Totally TTGL.
-
Episode 5 better be a hot spring episode that gets banned from television. Akin to TTGL.

So exhibitionist Kamina-sensei dies? I mean, if we're following TTGL's ep 8 and all.
-
Yep, as in Gurren we can expect a few wacky episodes then a big two-three episodes fight to mark the mid season and then after the student council is dealt with a new rival would appear.
We can expect Ryuko-Satsuki's relation to become like Simon-Viral's.
-
That was so entertaining.
-
Satsuki is so awesome. And Ryuko too.
Hope they hook up to double the awesomeness:ninja: -

This series is fun. I'm a little on the prudish side, I guess, because I feel the fan-service is a bit excessive but otherwise I really like the action and "feel" of the anime.
I can't wait to see how intense and epic things get from here.
-
I wonder how large the scale of this serie's universe will end up being. They mentioned other schools a few times and how there are competitions of sorts (as well as the mention of that one 1 star guy being called a "spy" from another school by Ira Gamagoori on the first episode. So I wonder if other schools will come into the mix. As colorful as Honnoji School location is, it feels remarkably constricted.
-
I'm so amazed by what I just watched I can't think of a proper response.
