I remember there was a thread like that call things you don't like about one piece. It ended close.
Most Disappointing Thing in One Piece
-
-
"Things you dont like about one piece" also sounds very different and much larger scale, like things about the manga overall that you dont like (pace, drawing, story, things like that)
This is for minor details that bother you just for fun. I kinda get the vibe from your post desa that people here love this series so much that they cant nitpick a single detail they didnt like. or point out things that make little sense, just for fun.Even the Song of Ice And Fire forums (wich has pretty rabid fanboys of the novel series) has a nitpicking thread with thousands of posts.

The moment when Marco and Vista slash Akainu and he says "Damn Haki users!"
I would have taken that out of the canon.

just to get meta, im going to nitpick your nitpicking; didnt he say "Damn it haki users are annoying" like in a mocking way since he hardly recieved a sctrach?
either way i agree. -
Robin's facial features becoming less distinct.

Robin's facial features becoming less distinct.
Do you mean we see more characters who look a bit like robin (violet etc) or that her apppearance has changed and looks more generic?
defenitly agree on the last part. Does she even have her distinct flat-edged nose left? she looks like adifferent person post timeskip. For some reason she has gotten paler too, her skin colour is completley different. -

I…think you're thinking of the anime?: Robin was given a dark skin tone (like Usopp) in the episodes pre-timeskip, until Toei fixed both cases.
She always had light skin in the manga (unless you ARE referring to such and just see it differently, in which I apologize)

Im refering to the manga. She was always a tad browner than nami (but not as dark as usopp) but it looks different now, but she is still lets say "Beige" rather than light pink, like nami. After all nami does have a skin pigment of a redhead and was always the palest of the strawhats, i believe?

Aaah…..got ya. I actually haven't noticed a difference (guess because the facial difference overshadows it?)
-
speaking of appearance changes, Doflamingo looks so much better post timeskip. The "Im on my way" picture that Monkey King has in his signature is some of odas best drawings imo. and wearing the boa on his shoulders suits him better.
Mihawk on the other hand got less cool during Zoros training. Didnt like his hair, shouldnt have kept his hat on! and seeing him laugh felt out of character for him (he is supposed to be cold and mysterious damnit!)
And having one of the series coolest characters train an army of monkeys broke my heartNami was the most butchered character during timeskip. If you re-read alabasta arc for example she used to be a pretty cold hearted, mean girl obsessed with making money of her nakamas. Now shes walking fan service

I dislike Nami, but maybe it's because I've forgotten what she used to be like.
Maybe I should re-read a few of the older arcs.

Chapters 608 to 700
Why did this happen
-
I think it was during whiskey peak when she first convinced the rest of the crew of helping Vivi or something, and then demanding charge for follwing on the mission, with the reasoning being that she is going to risk her life, and upon being reminded that they are all risking their lives and zoro in anger pointing out that nami is for sure going to hell when she dies. She then uses Zoros Claim to futher justify her means, claiming she is taking a bigger risk.
i dont remember the details but it was something like that.

Chapters 608 to 700
Why did this happen
at least 698 to 700 was great.

Why does barely anyone die or stay dead in this series? That's the only nitpick I got. lol

@The:
Why does barely anyone die or stay dead in this series? That's the only nitpick I got. lol
i get the feeling Oda likes the possibility of always being able bring characters back. Wich he does, frequently. Krieg and Lucci are almost the only examples i can come up with from the top of my head of major antagonists who havent reappeared in the manga or chapter pages (yet).
-
I'll nitpick the battle evolution of Sanji. He went from being able to string a bunch of awesome combos dealing with meal courses. He was the perfect complement to Zoro who just one shotted people with overwhelming power. Sanji would do best against an opponent with great stamina as he could whittle him down with his unbelievably quick combos. Now all he does is that hand stand circle attack and DJ. It's sad really.
-
Im sure we all have have some things in the series that always bothered us. Either something didnt make sense, characters that you dislike, dissapointments or stuff that just bothered you for some reason.
Keep it small. Its okay to talk about a certain thing in great detail, but dont bring up entire arcs, i think we already have threads for that.
Its okay to dislike some things in the series. you can still be a fan and noone will think less of you! so no flaming just because someone complains about something you liked.
I will start:
Sengokus fruit never made sense to me and was a major dissapointment.
First of all from what we have seen it only seems to have one form (Sengoku is either normal full on buddha statue). I could be wrong on this point, the form he used might in fact be the hybrid and it is the full form we havent seen (or the other way around)Second, its supposed to be a Hito Hito model. A Daibutsu is a Statue. Statues might be shaped like a human but a Daibutsu is still just a chunk of meta comparable to a statue of jesus on the cross that is common in churches.
But the biggest issue here is that i dont see how it qualifies as Mythical. while buddha is a mythological/religuos figure, Statues of him are not. They exist all over the world.
A paramecia Daibutsu fruit would actually make more sense, since its logically neither Zoan nor Mythical.Third Oda said that a human eating a hito hito no me would achieve enlightment. But Buddha was a pacifist and buddhism preaches harmony and to literary not even harm flies. Sengoku uses violence, is commander over an organization that uses violence and shows no signs of enligthenment, neither is it at any point implied or mentioned that sengoku has reached enlightenment. There is nothing in his behaviour that even suggests this. Justice (or wearing a bird hat for that matter) has nothing to do with enligtenment.
- Oda didn't know if Bhudda was a person or a mythical beast. It's just a species classification. This was answered in volume 60.

Lucci and the rest of CP9 had their own cover story: http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/CP9's_Independent_Report
I think they're coming back.

Now that you mention it i guess i have to agree. but lets wait until he faces a stronger adversary to see if this trend will continue.
Im going to bring up a point that i was considering starting a new thread about: showing the use of haki by painting limbs black can potentially get very tiresome and not to mention, unnecessary.
First of all, the group is now in the new world fighting top class pirates. The graphical showcasing is basicly unnecesary already. there is no need to showcase that a character like Doflamingo can use haki by colouring his fists/strings/whatever black. Since we now know that haki exists and what it does, we can assume that anyone who is able to hurt luffy or a logia with physical force is using haki.
Second, it can lead to situations when battles get really intense where basicly everyone is covered in black from top to toe. Thats devestating for the art. And Luffy already has a powerup that affects his colour, gear 2nd. how do you combine the two and make it possible for the reader to see?
An alternative, middle of the road solution would be to have small signs appear whenever someone uses an attack with haki (just like conqueror haki is displayed now)

Smiley death. :'(
! Yes i know that it was about to show what happened when a devil fruit user died.
But I'm biassed. :'( -

Oda, born and raised in Japan, and didnt know what Buddha was? haha, even i who was raised in sweden learned about buddha in elementary school. Do you seriously buy that? Buddhism is the main religion in Japan.
But it has nothing to do with my issues.
Sengoku ate the Hito Hito no mi: Daibutsu fruit. A Daibutsu is a buddha statue made of gold. statues arent human. they arent mythical. Regardless if Oda thought Buddha himself was a mythological beast, Sengoku ate the Daibutsu, aka Buddha Statue fruit, not the Buddha fruit.Do you get my point? and what was supposed to be ironic?

The latter.
Only difference I see is Coby and Shanks., they changed the most.

Are you telling me you cant spot the difference between original drawings of the first strawhats and how they look now? nami and luffy both look like children with monster ears that placed milimiters above their jawlines…
Ace changed alot from when he was first introduced in alabasta arc. for the better (minus the dying part)

well it's a different time period, those where in the 90's mostly how they drew characters back then. When I talk about change I talk about the characters body/physical change not changes of an artist art style improving.
-
My first nitpick is that most of the fighting choreography isn't as good as it used to be, as much of the emphasis is on big, flashy attacks. There are still exceptions though.
My second one is that Oda overuses double page spreads, and often formats them in ways that look terrible when the pages are actually in a book, with the giant crease running down the middle.
-
Chopper being a doctor but telling Sanji its ok to smoke in Nami's body. You're a doctor and you're like 10 or something. You should be against smoking.

Thanks for clearing that out. Cobys change definitely sticks out the most as he looks 10 years older, and we all know that much time had'nt passed when he first re-apeared (id say at most about a year or two)
Shanks has gotten older wich explains why he looks different. other than that its mostly just like you said, Oda improving as an artist.

Nami was the one who offered him his cigarettes in the first place so you can kinda presume she is fine with it regardless. Chopper never told Sanji about the dangers of smoking either to be fair. Plus, if im not misinformed, the heart takes the biggest hit from smoking (aside from the lungs, but it was only a matter of a few days in PH so they wont suffer any permanent damage). And it was Sanjis heart anyways.

It always annoyed me that Caesar sent out the Yeti Cool Brothers to get Franky, and when he later has him in a cell he sends him out to die in the poison??
-
Speaking of Franky and PH:
When Franky overheard Karibou talking to himself in the barrel underwater, i got the impression that Franky, being a Cyborg, does not need to breath. i assumed that the scars on his torso was for some sort of pacemaker implant or something, removing his lungs.
Thats why i was surprised when he collapsed during the first battle with CC, when he passed out like the rest from lack of oxygen. The same kinda goes for smoker. i was surprised to see that logias actually need to breath. you would think that a being basicly composed of an intanglible element makes you both unable and not required to breath in their elemental form.

Smoker was in Tashigi's body when this happened. Tashigi didn't know how to turn into smoke. She did once but it was on accident. Did you forget about Enel?

The third point in your post is ironic. How is the first point ironic?
i think there is defenitely a classified difference in "species" between humans and statues. thats why i dont see a buddha statue as a possible model of the human human fruit. The Models are supposed to be related to the particular Amimal of the fruit, like Bug Bug: Model Bee. I dont really understand why you dont get my point. since Statues isnt a species classification, how can it be related to a humans? you kinda summarized my entire point right there. its like a Snake Snake fruit: Model Iron Mace.
please be more specific, i feel like we are talking past each others.

The THIRD.
One fan asks Oda what Sengoku's ability was and this was his answer: "O: Yeah yeah, if ya ask me normally, I'd easily answer. That is. It actually appeared immensly easily, but it's the same as Marco's. Mythical Zoan-type, Hito Hito no Mi, Model "Daibutsu". I don't know about Buddha being human or mythical beast, but it's a species classification. Forgive me.
"
Edit- I just checked Sengokus character profile in the wiki and Daibutsu is translated as Great Bhudda instead of statue. -

taken from wiki:
- Although the fruit's name translates over to "Great Buddha", a "Daibutsu" more accurately refers to a statue of Buddha rather than an the actual Buddha.
Daibutsu translates to "the great buddha", but that is only literal. "The Great Buddha" is only used when refering to the particular golden statues that people pray to. Daibutsu is never used when refering to Buddha himself. You misread the Wiki.

According to Oda's answer, he is referring to the actual Bhudda.I see. Then i guess the problem lies with Oda lacking knowledge about buddhism :)

Shanks being a yonko. Would have prefer if he was a simple pirate who inspired the main character by his lifestyle.
-
I see. Then i guess the problem lies with Oda lacking knowledge about buddhism :)
But in OP world Daibutsu is referred to "The great Buddha" and he was a Mythical beast; and he never reached any kind enlightenment; infact he was a vile jerk. I loved Sengoku's design when he transformed but only just to punch a rookie? And transformed back as soon as they escaped; what a show off Sengoku.

Other than that, I agree only on the Robin part, she really lost a lot of her charm by getting rid of the bangs.

Robin's eyes. On both accounts, At first they looked so different in earlier arcs, now they kinda look the same as the other girls.
And the anime for using the wrong eye-colour (understandable since she was in the anime before she had official colours) and then just never fixing it. (despite it being fixed for movies and stuff Oda actually has a hand in.) Leading a good portion of people to actually believe her eye colour is blue instead of brown

not familiar with the "bangs" slang word but i assume it refers to her 60s style haircut since that is her biggest change?

i saw her eye colour in the manga before starting watching the anime but i actually thought blue was cooler. those cold blue eyes suit her personality better.

I never figured out thte Clima Tact. Like… how did Usopp make that thing? Is the basic technology of it already well established in the world, just "off camera?"

Of course not, nothing on people are. But they obviously don't do what his do.
@ holl. Hah, never linked the den den to that before.

I never figured out thte Clima Tact. Like… how did Usopp make that thing? Is the basic technology of it already well established in the world, just "off camera?"
i hate that thing. its so forced, like, "hmm Nami is a ship navigator so her weapon should be something related to weather". Just give her a slim iron rod that she is really good at spinning around and crushing peoples brains with. That would actually be really cool. She gives the SH guys a good beating time to time when they get to silly so seeing more of her violent side would make her character more interesting. She is a rather independant woman with a strong willpower so i dont get why she has to be so physically weak. like i said, just a simple bamboo stick or some other technique-over strenght weapon.
And also i know its a manga where people can turn into magma, light and cause air to shatter, but when it comes to the Clima Tact im not willing to suspend my disbelief. Not because i dont believe that technology could exist in a world of cyborgs and crazy technology, but im not gonnna believe that USOPP did it, at that point in the manga.
